This salon is the only salon I go to. My hairdresser is Toni and she is the sweetest and most talented hairdresser I've ever had. My experience with her began when my original hairdresser cancelled on me less than 24 hrs before I was supposed to leave for a wedding. It's a pricier than the place down the block, but you definitely get more bang for your buck. The stylists are all very professional and know what they are doing. Plus they offer various spa services like facials and waxing. They do coloring, nails, pedicures and it's all in a very nice relaxing yet modern setting. Now I say the more bang for your buck thing because I've never been to a place where so many things were included with the hair cut. You start off with a nice beverage, and a grand tour of the salon and spa (if it's your first time, like it was for me). Then you sit down and get a short shoulder and scalp massage, which I needed after getting caught in a massive and pointless traffic jam on my way to the appointment. Then the shampoo, cut, and style (which you fully discuss with the stylist to be sure it's what you want). And then after your hair is all pretty you can do the same to your face, because they offer makeup touch ups to go with your new hair style. I decided to give this salon another chance after years of refusing to go there. The first error was a couple years ago I went in to get my hair balayage ... I had done it in the passed numerous times and had no problems getting the tone I wanted ... however I had gone home as orange as orange gets. So ... obviously dissatisfied I went back to get it fixed. The lady that did my hair originally was telling me it's okay we can probably add full highlights and it should make it look better. But once the manager came it was a different story .... and he belittled me told me he wanted to speak to my mom and that I had no idea what I was talking about. He also said they would not do anything for me other than apply a darker toner. I came in with a light brown and asked for a honey tone.which I've had countless times.... I was 19 at the time and was taken back by how rudely I was treated. Long story short they just ended up making my hair 10 shades darker than when I showed up with. I left with almost black hair. Fast forward to this week.... I went in to get a hair cut ... I have had bangs for a while now and showed a picture of how I wanted them to look after my trim. (Given the circumstances that she isn't usually the one that cuts my hair). I made it very clear that I like my bangs below my eye brows almost in my eyes. Bangs crossed with curtain bangs. I left in a hurry. I was absolutely humiliated by how bad these bangs came out. They are "strait across", blunt, uneven, and way above my eye brows. This is in no way shape or form anywhere near the picture I presented. The stylist was super nice !! So sweet but .. this was just bad. Like really bad. There is nothing we can do to fix these other than to let them grow out. I basically left with baby bangs.I hope this posts helps someone, and prevents future disappointment. I gave them 2 chances (first with hair color , then with a hair cut.) I figured after not being there for years it would be safe. I was wrong It's safe to say I will not be returning. read more

The WORST experience ever!!!! I had a root touch up to cover my gray hair. Marissa applied the color without care. It got to my cheeks and ears without even care to wipe them off until I asked her to do so. She applied so much oil (instead of Vaseline or any thick lotion) on the hairline and practically covered half of my forehead. The oil with the hair color run into my eye. It iritated my eye. My eye become red, watery and my vision become blurry. I went to the urgent care the next day. The Owner, Michael Randazzo, handles the situation RUDELY! Despite not being a super big girly-girl, I got a huge gift card to this place for Christmas. This salon uses Aveda products, big plus in my book. So far I have only been three times. Once for an eyebrow waxing, once for a pedicure and once for some Rosemary-Mint Shampoo. I always have a good expereince. I don't get my hair done, ever...so I have no idea how they are with that. Pedicure - very relaxing atmosphere, toes look great, they go the extra mile with a mask and exfoliant, etc. Lots of massaging of the feet...but I'm super ticklish so that's a negative for me. Overall I think the pedicure was well worth the 35 bucks I paid for it. Eyebrow waxing - I'm not picky here - they were done quickly and evenly. That's all I care about. It's fairly painful anyway you look at it. Quick and done right. $18 - I tried the cold wax or something like that. Liter of Rosemary-Mint shampoo....26 bucks or something like that. Same as anywhere else you can get Aveda products. Overall - if you're into a relaxing spa like experience...this is a great place to try out. read more

Yesterday was my first time visiting this salon for a haircut and eyebrow wax. I have been to several other Aveda salons in the area and while they are good salons, they never blew my socks off. Harmony Salon did. As a first time guest I was given a tour of the salon and then had a consultation with my stylist along with a head and neck massage before the shampoo, cut, and style. Heather (Master Stylist) was my stylist and after our consultation I felt really confident about the cut she was going to give me. I'm not going to lie, this was the most expensive hair cut I've had - it was worth EVERY penny. Regardless of price, I will be booking my next appointment with Heather because there's something to be said about a perfect cut. I get my hair cut every 8 -10 weeks and I'm nearing 30, so I've had a good number of cuts. This is the best cut I've ever had. By far. After my haircut I saw Swarna (Esthetician) for an eyebrow wax. The price was $18.00 - same price as every other reputable salon in the area - but again, best eyebrow wax so far. She took the time to consult with me to make sure the shape she was going to give me was what I was looking for. She then started with an Aroma therapy and at the end gave a little face massage to relax after the waxing. Once she walked me out front she touched up my makeup before sending me on my way. I have found my new salon. And I highly recommend it for anyone looking for their next salon home as well. read more

When I confirmed I was just there for a haircut, there was a clear shift in attitude. Clearly my $57 haircut wasn't the price point she was looking for even though I always over tip. The entire cut was silent and awkward and ended up being more of a trim than anything else, not even close to what I was looking for. No, I didn't mention it wasn't what I wanted, I just paid and went on my way. If you have a bad attitude from the start, I am not going to trust that you'll be able to fix what shouldn't have been difficult to understand from the start for an experienced stylist. We were long term customers for almost 5 years. All 3 of us went there on monthly basis. Service started to go down hill and they kept promoting the girl that cut my hair and my cost went up over $20 a cut. Good for her but $60 for a guys haircut is ridiculous. My wife recently went in for a root touch-up and they used the wrong formula. Apparently a stylist entered the wrong formula in the computer. My wife ended up having brown roots with blonde hair. They charged her for the service and then told her she would have to pay the difference to get it fixed. Obviously she was not happy and complained. It's outrageous that she would pay to have it fixed. It's outrageous she was charged for the salon's mistake. It's outrageous they asked her if she wanted to leave a gratuity!! It's outrageous that they would let her leave the salon without doing whatever they could to fix the problem. This place has gone downhill. Plenty of other options. read more

My experience here was average. I was shampooed by a very sweet assistant before my stylist- a "junior associate" even looked at my hair, which I (as a hairdresser myself) feel is important before starting a haircut- to see how the hair lays when dry. My end result :not bad, but nothing spectacular. If you're looking for a hip/cutting-edge salon, this may not be the place for you. The hairstylist themselves are fine but the owner is the worst human being I have ever met. I interviewed there twice with two women and then went for a third time with the owner. As soon as I sat down, He starts belittling me and my work experience and acts like his salon is way better and more difficult than anything I've ever had to deal with. I told him I used to work at Beauty Brands and started telling him what all of my tasks were there. He cuts me off and says "I know what Beauty Brands is, Its a retail store that has two measly stylist to appease the customers to make them think their going to a nice salon. It might as well be a CVS." I went on by telling him I worked at a tanning salon for three years, cuts me off again- "Oh yeah a mom and pop tanning salon. That has nothing to do with this business. I took my daughter (13) for first time waxing of her eyebrows. Went and experience seemed fine. After the waxing she went and had a haircut. During that time her eyes were burning. Under one eyebrow the skin was all red and it looked like it was burned and that the wax must have been too hot. I complained and they brought the woman that did the waxing out to see us. She put on some skin cooling serum and said that it should be better. Her eyes hurt the rest of that day and she had a big party to go to. Tonight her eyes are forming scabs and sore. I would not recommend waxing at all. I feel bad because this was her first experience and since it's been so painful she never wants to do it again. read more

I have been going to this salon for close to five years now and have had really great experiences for the most part. My long-time stylist (Brenda) left recently, leaving me trying out new stylists. I had one that I saw twice - both very not great experiences. She was very young and inexperienced, she was a bit rude and the cut was so-so. I tried someone new at my last appointment, and she was personable and did a good job. I'm seeing her again before deciding if I will stick with this salon. This time for cut and color (touch up). If this experiences isn't up to my expectations, I will be switching to Modern Salon over in Waverly. I was a Modern customer in South Park for many years before moving out to the Blakeney area. She basically did not finish our appointment and what was done is not even. I also asked for my hair to be thinned out which was never done. It started out with them being 30 mins behind schedule, and I was told a 2 hour block of time was all that was needed....but it took 2.5 hrs...add in the 30 mins they were late and I am running an hour behind schedule! My stylist mentioned to me that I should have received a 30% discount via email because it was my bday. At checkout, I mention this and received an extremely rude & sarcastic response "that they don't give discounts". I asked about the email I should have received (and didn't) for some other "bday discount", to which I was told" we don't have your bday in the system". I comment, that doesn't seem fair, is it my job to enter it in your system? I asked what the bday discount was, to which reply "10% off one service". I ask if he (rude manager/owner guy) would honor that, to which I was told "no". So let's see, I spent $135 there, 10% of one service would have been $8.....they let that much future business walk out the door either because of $8 or because they are too snobby to offer discounts. There are other Avedas in town (and close by). You are going to spend the money anyway, you might as well receive some customer service with it!! Harmony??? I think not. read more

I had always liked Harmony Salon and Spa, having used their services since they were in another Matthews location. However, they started a new telephone/texting reminder service that is just HORRIBLE! The day after I responded "C" to a text message that I received to confirm an appointment, I received three back-to-back telephone calls and two texts in a 10 minute time period. This happened on three separate occasions, even after I mentioned the problem to staff during a previous visit. She made me feel comfortable and confident about cutting and donating 10 inches off of my hair (which I only came in to do a few inches). Hair color is tricky, the Harmony team is excellent at matching trends to client features for a fresh, up to date result. I have been a client for over 5 years, their first job was correcting my color by another salon. I am super impressed every time! I was stopped three times by compliments, as I made my way to the parking lot the last time I had my color and foils done. My church friends also noted that I looked 10 years younger. The stylist team is professional, knowledgeable and are great listeners. They recommend what works best for you and your lifestyle. I also enjoy new product demonstrations and learning about which products should be used by season - sun/heat vs. humidity, so I can save time and money and make my color last longer. I have been to many salons in Charlotte. The salon itself where clients receive their services is very cluttered and noisy... definitely not an upscale salon but more like the JC Penney salon. I have had different stylists, and they were average. The owner, Michael, stands in front greeting clients, but is somewhat stiff and not genuine and seems very uncomfortable with his role. I like Aveda products but was not impressed with this salon. I'll go elsewhere. read more
