EMMOIRE tried to tell us how to hold our child with autism & then used our child as an example and tried to hold him herself. She also tried arguing at the counter when we tried to pay & leave. She said she is a professional with kids with autism & went to school for it & said we were young parents that we needed to do research. Then we told them NO CLIPPERS & still used them. We were really worried about our son Colson (20 Months) not having a good time for his first haircut. Mia the stylist, made sure he was right at home. He really enjoyed the car he got to sit in, and overall enjoyed the experience. They went above and beyond with a first haircut certificate, print off of his before and after pictures, a lock of hair to save, gave him a balloon, a sucker, and a coupon for his next haircut. Terrible service- let workers know my son had Autism and has sensory and noise issues specifically why I asked to only use scissors he was having a very hard time with the noise of the machine blowing up balloons I kindly let the stylist know all she said was "oh" and continued cutting out of no where she went in with clippers and his mood quickly changed the lady with white under her hideous brows tried showing me restraining techniques on how to hold my child who was having a terrible meltdown after both my partner and I had said we were fine with paying and leaving with the chopped haircut he received she kept insisting we restrain his movements so they could finish the cut I was very upset and told her we wanted to pay and leave she then told my partner how to without our permission hold our child she sat on the floor and had his arms and legs locked in between hers I was very upset so I did get smart and tell her she shouldn't be telling parents how to take care of their autistic child she told me she went to school for it(lie)and that I didn't know because I'm a young parent again I told her she shouldn't tell me how to hold my child because I know him she then contradicted herself and told me she didn't tell me how to hold my child (lie AGAIN)TERRIBLE SERVICE not an ounce of care just greedy people hope those $28 help her get some eyebrow lessons and here's some education she didn't receive below " Using restraints or seclusion can be highly distressing and traumatic for children with autism. I brought my 4 year old grandson here for a haircut two times. To say he is uncooperative is an understatement. He acts like he is being tortured. To say the least, he is a difficult client. I am so grateful to Courtney as she was extremely patient and kind. I can't say enough about her skill at sneaking those clips in as she distracted him. I will absolutely bring him here again. The woman who cut my sons hair was super patient and sweet, but she took his hairline up over an inch in the pack and the front was so crooked I had to trim it a week later once it grew out. Issue 1: The wait. An appointment is only a time by which the customer must be there (they do not take you if you are 7+ minutes late, per multiple signs). They are meaningless for the salon. We walked in 2 minutes before our appointment time and were informed that our stylist was with another client but would see us next because the appointment before us canceled. Huh?! It was our appointment time anyway. But, then we had to wait another 25 minutes (23 minutes after our appointment time) ... with a toddler. Issue 2: Communication. I booked a first haircut experience. This comes with extra cost, but also lets the salon and stylist know that the child may be difficult. I mentioned to my stylist as we were seating my child that this was his first real cut. Thirteen minutes of tears and screams later, I'm asked if this is his first cut and informed that she "would have gone about things differently if [she] had known!" Issue 3: The cut. There is nothing symmetrical about this cut. Different heights above the ears, uneven back, a chunk out on one side. I'd be more inclined to give grace about this due to my child's reactions if not for Issues 1 and 2 and the fact that this place advertises that it is for children, even offering a special first cut package. My home haircuts were better. I'll save my $40. read more

Awful customer service. Some of the worst I have ever experienced. All problems and no solutions, the woman acting as the manager even tried blaming me for her lack of communication. The bumped my appointment up an hour and didn't tell us. Then the would not honor my second appt because i was over 7 minutes late. Garbage service and nothing but poor excuses. Called to set up an appointment for my son who is autistic and made sure to inform them he is autistic. The woman said everyone over 3 has to wear a mask. I let her know he is 3 1/3 but is medically exempt due to being autistic. She said "THEY" wear them in here all the time. I offered to provide medical documentation and was rudely told "no". Please don't advertise that you work with autistic kids if you are going to be this rude and none understanding. You obviously have no idea how to work with autistic children or else you would know how difficult it is to get someone who is none verbal to do something they don't understand. You would also know that autistic children or "THEY" as you refer to them are absolutely medically exempt from the mask mandate. If you have a autistic child I would not recommend this place of business. read more

I just took my 3 year old here and loved it! He has a shaggy type hairstyle so we went in for an all over trim. We had Dee and she did an excellent job!! Was super quick and blended really well so it didn't look like a little girl hair cut. First time here, brought my two year old and four year old. My four year old loved it so much since he could play the video game he has asked to get another haircut just to come back and play! And my two year old fell asleep in the car, so he was a nightmare, crying hysterically, and the hairdresser who cut his hair (didn't get her name) did so well dealing with my crying child in her seat, and she did sooo well on the haircut. We were blown away with our experience here Sharkey's! This was my son's first haircut and they made this such a fun and friendly haircut! We were very nervous on how he would handle it considering he is 2 1/2 and hasn't been exposed to this yet, but the shop is very fun for kids with TVs at every station, and fun chairs for them to sit in! Tammy is the stylist that cut my son's hair and she is soooo friendly and kept my son very entertained and engaged with everything that was going on! We will Definitely be back, and I highly suggest this place for any parents wanting to bring their child somewhere fun to get a haircut!! Side note, his hair cut is sooooo good! We made an appointment yesterday for our sons first haircut. When we arrived they first told us they didn't have an appt. When I pressed and insisted that I had a confirmation for 12:00 they then told us that Mia was sick and they'd moved our appointment by an hour, from 12 to 1, and that they left us a message. I checked my missed calls and voicemail, nothing. We rescheduled for today at 4:30. Because of an accident on the road we arrived 8 minutes late. One minute past the late cut off. You'd think after inconveniencing us yesterday they'd be willing to accommodate us but we were turned away and treated rudely on top of it. Highly recommend avoiding Sharkey's. read more

I had an appointment for what I thought was 3:45. I walked in, was greeted by a lady wearing a hat and her hair was up in a ponytail. She asked if I had an appointment, I said yes and gave her my sons name. She very rudely looked at me and said "you know his appointment was at 3:30." I apologized and told her I thought it was at 3:45 and before I could get anything else out she said "WE DON'T MAKE APPOINTMENTS FOR 3:45." I again apologized and asked if we needed to reschedule. She very RUDELY said "that's up to your stylist." In which the stylist was behind her and said "yeah, I can't take you. I have another appointment." There was NO ONE in the store. NO ONE in the parking lot. It was a BOYS HAIRCUT. I understand that I was "late" but I was still there at 3:37 and was very rudely turned away. I have visited Sharkeys before and I loved taking my kids there, but after this very rude encounter, never again. It's a shame you treat your customers so rudely. If the lady would have maybe nicely asked me to reschedule or would of been more understanding, I wouldn't of been upset because it was my fault for the mix up. We visited Kiddie Cutters and the sweet stylist there got both of my kids in WITHOUT an appointment and between an appointment. Much better experience. read more

Every time I have been they have been so sweet to my child. My daughter loves getting her haircut by them. And all the little extra things they do like give rings, hair clips, paints the child's nails and more makes her time there even better. Would recommend for anyone with small children. read more

We took our infant son to Sharkey's for his first haircut! My son was scared and the staff was absolutely wonderful. They made the experience doable and not traumatic. When my son got a little upset, I started singing to him and so did the staff! I was definitely impressed and will bring my son back for future appointments. I actually saw another post very similar to mine but will add this as well. I certainly don't want any special treatment for my 3.5 year old, medically fragile, developmentally delayed child as far as exemption of mask mandate but being extremely rude and lying is not acceptable to me. My entire family have worked frontline during the entire pandemic and certainly don't take this lightly but trust me when I say- you will NEVER get my family's business again! Made an appointment for my sons first haircut. After we arrived, we were told they were super slammed and even though we had made an appointment, it really made no difference. They didn't have space for our child to sit in the little cars and get the full experience. I was told we could either hold our child or come back later. We were happy with the cut though. read more

We have tried a number of kids' haircut establishments over the years. None have hand kinder, warmer staff than this place. They have the common "kid" stuff--balloons, video games, cool chairs, but the staff have kept us coming back. They give us a "Sharkey dollar" each time to drop into one of four charity boxes, which is just a nice thing for kids to think about. My son often gives to Humane Society. read more

I came to visit fam in Kentucky and this place was recommended by them. I show up and i see a customer and employee talking so I see a clipboard and just sign in and wait to be called. Well, in comes a customer and they greet her and ask her if she has an appointment and sign her in. By now I'm thinking, ok maybe they signed her in because she had an appointment. 10 min and no one says anything to me. A second customer walks in and they greet her and ask her if she has an appointment...just like the other customer. Finally I go up to the counter and ask the lady if they take walk-ins. She replied that they do but prefer you have an appointment because they were busy. I said, "y'all saw me standing here and said nothing to me! I thought all I had to do was sign in!" She had nothing to say. There was 3 employees there and not a single one said a word to me and they clearly saw me standing there waiting. Maybe this place doesn't like Hispanic people or just assumed I didn't speak English. Not sure what it was but they were very rude. I would not recommend this place to anyone.
