I have been a client of Cha Cha's for over a year and have consistently had excellent experiences with my own stylist, which makes this situation even more disappointing. I scheduled an appointment for my daughter and specifically called the salon in advance to explain that she has very thick hair and would likely need additional appointment time. Despite that conversation, the appointment was not scheduled for enough time to complete the requested services. As a result, the stylist ran out of time, my daughter did not receive the haircut that was scheduled, and we left with highlights that were not completed to the standard we expected. What has been most frustrating has been the effort required to get the issue addressed. I contacted the salon hoping to simply have the services corrected. Instead, I spent several hours over multiple conversations trying to resolve the situation. While I understand the need to gather information, the process felt unnecessarily difficult and was met with repeated explanations rather than clear solutions. I never requested a refund--only an opportunity to have the haircut completed and the highlighting corrected. Unfortunately, after investing significant time trying to work through the issue, I still do not feel that a reasonable resolution has been reached. Based on my experience, Cha Cha's provides excellent service when everything goes as planned. However, if a problem does arise, my experience suggests that resolving it may be far more challenging than it should be. Update: To be clear, I was coordinating the conversation because McKenna was placed under my account by your staff. I was not refusing to let you speak with her. The current process of calling in, then waiting for texts or return calls later in the day, does not work well with her schedule and has made it very difficult to get this resolved in a straightforward way. Based on the photos, I am not sure what additional information is needed. The service was not completed as expected, and the highlights were not well done. Yes, McKenna would like the issue corrected. At this point, I would appreciate a direct call so we can discuss the next step and get this resolved. read more

This was my first time to Cha Cha's. I decided to go here because of my past experiences with hairdressers not listening to my requests and I had only seen good reviews. I went in looking to get a pixie/bixie. I told the girl the length and my wants. She cut it shorter than we agreed and did not add enough layers, so it looks more bowlish than a normal pixie. Layers are also noticeably uneven. Im not one to complain, but I am disappointed with my experience and especially for how much i paid and to not get the service i paid for. read more

Absolutely the best hair experience I've ever had in the whole state. After moving back to Ky from SC, I was having a hard time finding someone who could maintain my platinum color. Finally I found Cha Cha's. They sent me portfolios of multiple stylists they thought would fit my needs so I could see examples of their work. After moving to Lexington I was in the market for a new stylist. I looked at a lot of sites and kept coming back to Cha Cha's. While I'm not a stranger to "treating myself", I didn't know if I could bring myself to spend that much on a haircut. I thought I'd give it a try, the worst thing would be hating it, and having to find another salon. Spoiler alert: It was totally worth the price! I showed Paige a photo for inspiration, we talked through what was possible/maintenance, etc. She took her time and I was so happy with the end result! Yes! This place rocked! It was so, so well designed. The staff were all friendly and polite. It was an inviting atmosphere! All the things you look for when you are searching for a new salon. To add, my stylist Lauren A, was amazing. She listened to exactly what I wanted, asked to look at the photos several times, and was overall just a wonderful person to spend 3 hours with! I'm excited for her to do my hair again. What I loved about Cha Cha's was also how they train their employees. I learned each stylist does roughly a year apprenticeship where they shadow, take classes, and start building a client list. Even seasoned stylists come in and do the apprenticeship. I honestly thought that was wonderful!! My stylist, LA, said that Cha Cha's offers them the chance to attend classes to better their craft as well! This shows a deep appreciation for their employees and also a deep caring for their clients, wanting to give them all the best experience possible. Who does this place think it is with the prices and for a master stylist where are the credentials that say they are a master stylist. I went a week ago early December 2023 with shampoo conditioner hair spray highlights and cut on fine hair not curly nothing demanding just a chin length bob with tip was 460$. Do you think you're in LA NYC or West Hollywood? No shoulder massage no mimosas nothing wtf never will I go back I got hoodwinked after moving to Lexington and looking at the reviews I showed up with a picture of what I wanted and what I didn't and ended up with what I absolutely did not. So beware. Go somewhere else for half the price and get what you want. read more

Morgan is my hair goddess! She has helped me heal my hair after so much bleach from another salon in another state: She is a wizard with color and extensions! My confidence is always higher after a appointment with Morgan!!!! Morgan helps guide me with what color we should select for my hair health! And I am always happier than the last time, if that is even possible! She is efficient with my time and always the most friendly. I can't imagine ever going anyplace else. I had never been here prior to a cut and highlight with Aaliyah E. It's a nice shop with a great atmosphere. Everyone was so pleasant and seemed to really love working there! I will say after my first experience I would highly recommend this place and my stylist was top notch! So if you're looking for a new stylist go see Aaliyah, she's friendly and does a fantastic highlight and cut! You can tell she takes great pride in what she does! I had an awful experience here. A girl named Leah did my hair. I went in for a wash and style. She washed my hair ok, it wasn't a great wash it was just ok. She then started drying my hair. I had to stop her and ask for mouse or gel to be put in, then after she put the mouse in she went back to drying it. She never once asked me how I wanted my hair done, all she did was round brushed it and that was it. I was so shocked that she NEVER asked me how I wanted my hair done. I came out with my hair looking flat, it looks awful!!!! I would never recommend this place to anyone. read more

I'm an out of state student here in Lexington and needed a trim. I went here because it was close and had good reviews. I asked for "a tiny bit off the back with scissors" and showed them this picture of me for reference and this is what I got. They turned me around the whole time so I had no idea what it looked like as they were cutting it. It doesn't take a simpleton to realize that this is not what I asked for. It took me 6 months to grow out the back and now it's gone. Oh yeah and it was $30. If I could give this place a zero I would. You could get a great cut for half the price of this place elsewhere. read more

Jessica is a miracle worker! I came in with hip-length, thick curly hair that had not seen a salon in nearly 10 years and she was able to give me a cut that felt lighter, was styleable, and maintainable! She checked in with me the entire time to make sure she didn't go shorter than what I wanted and explained her process the entire time so I knew why she was doing what she was doing. I cannot recommend her enough! I didn't know exactly what I wanted and was not able to give her specifics, however, she took what little details I could give her and gave me the best haircut I've ever had! She took extra time to explain what she was doing, how it would look, and how to style it which was so helpful for how hopeless I am with hair! The environment at Cha Cha's and every employee I interacted with was top notch and I cannot recommend them enough. I will 100% be back to Jessica and Cha Cha's for my next haircut! read more

I've been meaning to update my review for awhile now. My initial review of Cha Cha's still stands. It was the single worst hair cut and color I have ever had. This updated review is all about Jason, one of the the owners. After my original hair disaster with a stylist at Cha Cha's, I went to another salon to have it fixed. I was still not happy at all. There were noticeable lines of demarcation and to put it simply it just wasn't what I wanted. Jason reached out to me several days after I had gone to the second salon and asked me if I'd be willing to come in and have him personally "fix" my hair. I expected that after I told him I had been to another salon, he'd change his tune. After all, Cha Cha's had already refunded my money, I went to another salon... what more was there for him to do? He insisted that he would still be more than happy to have me come in. He cut and colored my hair in a way that didn't make me cringe when I looked in the mirror, but I still wasn't happy with it. He took the time to explain to me what went wrong with my first visit and why he was doing everything the way he was so as not to damage my hair. He went through my hair, section by section and noted the parts that were not to his liking and explained what we could do in future visits to fix it. At my third visit, I decided that I wanted my dark auburn hair back. This was in August and I've been back three times since then, and each time it's looked better and better. Jason told me back in April that he wouldn't charge me until he felt like my hair was completely perfect, and he has stuck to his word. I really can't say enough positive things about Jason. I believe that every hair salon owner (or every owner of a business that works with the public) should have to talk to Jason about dealing with unhappy clients. I have complained to businesses in the past when I was not satisfied with the service they provided, but I have never EVER had a manager or owner go to the lengths that Jason has to make things right. In April, I would not have recommended Cha Cha's to my worst enemy. Today 8 months later, I would recommend Jason to anyone. read more

I called day of and managed to get in the same day. Parking is metered parking on side streets. The girl, I believe her name was Adrianna, was really nice. We held great conversations throughout the time spent together. She understood the struggles of having thick hair, which is sometimes an insecurity I have. She was patient and took her time with me, I never felt rushed, as simple as my needs were. I just got a trim and a shaved undercut. The place had my kind of young vibe with more edgy skills. I've been to some very nice/high end salons in Miami, Manhattan, Chicago, San Diego and Houston and was looking for a new salon (just moved to Kentucky). I was pleasantly surprised! Front desk staff is very friendly and courteous, the salon was clean. Zack is friendly, extremely talented, professional and listened to me while making suggestions and giving advice. Cha Cha's and Roosters Nest is the best in hair. Not just in Lexington, but perhaps in all the land! Great people, great service, creativity and cool location. Parking can be a challenge so plan accordingly, but totally worth it. I have lived in big cities and smaller towns and always do my homework to find someone to keep me coiffed and have had some great experiences. I am constantly amazed by her ability to understand *exactly* what I'm asking for each time I sit down in her chair - from cuts to color she just gets it! I leave the salon feeling like a better version of myself after each visit, and I truly feel valued throughout the process. She also has given me amazing recommendations for products that will prolong her fantastic color work, so definitely bring that up while you're there! I've never been so happy with a stylist. Showed the photo again. I wanted blonde highlights. I got light brown baby lights. Barely different from my original hair color. I had asked for a trim, it didn't get that either. Cha-chas was a pleasant experience I came in and was greeted with a beverage. The wait time was not very long. Why waited there were plenty of magazines to keep me company also I was intrigued by the photo station where completed hairstyles were photographed by the hair stylists. The hair cut itself was nice. This place is amazing! I don't have any words for how much I love this salon. First of all, the service is great. They check on you periodically and offer coffee, tea, water, soda, etc. Second of all, the stylists make connections with you on a level that's different than most salons. My personal favorite and the one I go to every time is Ashley. She's a great person and an even better stylist. As someone who has moved quite a bit over the past few years, I can say that finding a new stylist/colorist is tough! Especially for blondes. One of my co-workers said that Cha-Chas is great, especially with blondes. So I booked with Lauren and did not regret it. I just had my second appointment with her and it was confirmed that I cannot go to anyone else; Lauren specifically takes her time on you and puts a lot of care into her work (she is the only stylist that I have been to, but I've heard amazing things about the other stylists as well). For years I was going to what I thought were great salons in California, Chicago, Tennessee...Cha Cha's really has shown me that there are very few great salons in this world.
