I have been coming here for my parents off and on for about a year. Finally doing a review. This is an upgrade from a Captain D's type spot. The food is always so fresh and prepared very well. There's pride in ownership as I've personally seen the owner cleaning and attending to the soda machine himself. The staff is always nice and welcoming and they will tell you the truth. For instance, when I asked about the banana pudding they let me know there's no actual bananas in it. That matters to me as I love bananas. It's always been a chill quiet vibe inside when I've visited. Could be good for a group but not a huge group. There's plenty of parking in the lot out front and they have bathrooms for patrons. I'd highly recommend this location and will continue to solicit their location. I also love how the staff greats their regular customers. Really welcoming and caring .

    Perch dinner

Unassuming made to order seafood spot in a strip mall. I give it four stars but am a little more critical than other reviewers of it. Perch dinner with slaw and hush puppies: Portion of perch was great. The hush puppies not so much for a dinner portion I expected more puppies and slaw. Perch: perfect crunchy cornmeal forward coating. A few tough prices and spots but generally well cooked. A tad, not much, but a tad too greasy under the coating. Eat it while hot and can hardly tell. The biggest issue is it lacked seasoning. Perch and cornmeal were fine but it needed seasoned badly. Huspuppies. A little small so I wished for 1-2 more. However excellent cook crispy outside and soft inside and had that hint of onion that most miss when offering hush puppies. Slaw: Good enough. Pretty standard slaw offering. Leans sweet which I prefer Sauces: the cocktail sauce is amazing with a perfect punch of horseradish. More people should talk about this sauce lol The tarter was in a packet. They have a perfect opportunity to stand out by making homemade tarter I'd suspect. Overall, pretty good, especially when made to order perch is hard to find. Add some seasoning and tarter and easily 5+

We always get excellent service and everyone that works here is always polite and helpful! The food is delicious!!! I don't get to have fried foods often since I have no gallbladder lol but when I do I like get it here! They always make my catfish extra crispy the way I like it (just ask) the hush puppies are soooooo good! My kid loves the banana pudding! The shrimp is great! The pan fried oysters are a favorite!!! Everything we've ever gotten we like! It's a good place, decent size and always clean!!!!! Chefs kiss hit 'em 5 times

Sharks Seafood was a fantastic place to eat! My parents recommended the place as I didn't even know we had one here in Louisville. (Not sure if these are the same folks that own the stores in the Chicago area.) The outside area is unassuming but when you get in and get your food, be prepared to be blown away! My wife and I both had the fried tilapia sandwich with fries and the fish was PIPING hot! All of the food tasted very fresh and came up pretty quickly. We also had the hushpuppies which were hot and delicious too! We will definitely be going back as soon as possible! They're closed on Sundays which would have been our second visit in a week but we'll be back for sure.

Had lunch today. Being in a strip mall there is plenty of parking. If you are looking for some fried seafood then Shark's Seafood might be what you are looking for. In addition to fish they also offer wings. But we came for fish so I got the Cod Sandwhich. It was hot and crispy and the rye bread was nice and soft. Fries were crispy on the outside but under seasoned. Added some salt and they were decent fries. Almost everything on the menu is froed so if your looking for a lot of grilled/steamed options this might nit be the place for you. You order at the counter when you cone in. The food is served in disposable styrofoam containers. They keep most condiments behind the counter which is a little frustrating if you want more than what they initially give you. All in all next time I am craving a fish sandwhich I will be back. :)

Green beans... so so...I usually get the potato salad.

Friendly greeting upon entry, seems to be standard here:) Quick and easy counter ordering. Reasonable wait for my dine in order of the Cod platter to be ready. Love the cornmeal style lightly breaded fish here, the hush puppies are small but pack a craveworthy flavor punch of crispy goodness. The sides I've tried are o.k, nothing to drool over but adequate choices. Desserts are avail but I never save room for one. Small dine in seating area with a handful of booths & tables. Efficient carry out avail too. Variety of fish options, shrimp, chicken options, platters or sandwiches, sides, desserts, beverages. Tucked away in the back corner of McMahon Plaza in Hikes Point. Usually a steady stream of dine in and to go patrons when I stop in here. Very reasonable pricing (under $12 for the fish, two sides, & a drink)and tasty food that's worth a visit!

I've always loved Sharks. The meals looked a little bit less than what I was used to from their first location, but in a good way, it's actually the proper serving for a meal and you won't leave hungry. The staff was nice, greeted us as soon as we walked in and told us to take our time as we looked through their menu on the wall. The place looked very clean and it had a nice laid back atmosphere with a couple of television's set to different stations. The food didn't take long at all. You can dine in or to go. You get free refills and there's plenty of parking.

Cut my Cod Fish Sandwich in half; very plentiful and thick loin cuts of fish

It was not the best food in the world but the food here tastes like home to me. Just really well seasoned and old school. Now here's my issue. This establishment had me wait almost 90 minutes on a 92 degree day (WITH MY FIVE YEAR OLD) for two meals. They had already taken my money, otherwise I would have booked it. Here's what I ate: 1. Fried Pork Chop with mashed potaotes (they were out of potato salad) and greens, gravy on the side 2. Ribs with macaroni and cheese and Pinto Beans I also got a blackberry cobbler. I checked in after 30 minutes and they weren't sympathetic. I looked at these reviews later and saw that someone said the customer service at this establishment was hilarious and they were not kidding. Here's how everything tasted: Pork Chop: very flavorful, glad I got fried and not smothered for texture reasons Mashed potatoes: good and real, but nothing to write home about Ribs: They were okay. tender. tasted like they were boiled and that's not my preference...they were also swimming in sauce. I feel like ribs should be able to stand up without the sauce and I was not sure this could happen here. The bbq sauce is part of the dish for them. Greens: overly salted, underseasoned...they needed to be eaten by the pinto beans Pinto beans: absolutely no salt--would not order again Macaroni and cheese: this is the creamy kind, not the baked kind (not my preference. Gravy: excellent Blackberry Cobbler: FIVE STARS. Delicious, buttery, so tasty. I went home and tried to make one. Seriously: no notes here. It is a must try. Charging 2 dollars for a cup of kool-aid is insane. with this kind of customer services, it would be nice if they threw that sugar water in for free. I skipped it, but just thought I would mention if you plan on trying to have some for nostalgic reasons. I haven't had any in about 30 years and I was planning on it but not when I saw the price tag. I live in Illinois, but if I ever do visit again I will call my order in, go sight seeing and then pick up my food. Don't bring your kids to this establishment unless they have confirmed your order is ready!

The dining area is small and no frills, so I'd probably use the drive-thru or take it to-go next time. We ordered the 4 whole spicy wings meal with two sides. I was surprised they include the entire wing, including the tip. Each wing comes with the drum, flat, and tip. The wing tip is actually my favorite part, and it's rare to find restaurants that leave it on. The chicken was incredibly crispy without being greasy, and the spicy seasoning had just the right amount of heat. I want that recipe! For our sides, we doubled up on the potato wedges, and they absolutely lived up to the hype. They seem like they're coated in the same seasoned batter as the chicken, giving them an extra crispy crunch on the outside. Pro tip: Order the purple drink! It has a grape flavor with a fruity twist, and it pairs perfectly with the spicy chicken. Overall, Chicken King is worth a stop if you're in Louisville. Between the huge portions and affordable prices, it's easy to see why it's been a longtime favorite among locals.

Crunchy breading, juicy and tender inside. They were not spicey or dripping in any sauce, just regular breaded and I thought "I am going to have to go to this place soon" After doing some research I found that they have drive thru only for dinner hours. So I made my trip down Broadway to Chicken King and could not miss the big yellow sign nor the already 7 cars in the drive thru. Since this chicken has a otremendous fan base, I considered myself lucky to be #8 in line as others pulled behind me. The menu is packed full of items, so my first tip is to look up the menu online before you go...less pressure once you arrive...lol I ordered the 8 PC box (regular) for my husband, 3 PC tenders (that comes with 3 potato wedges) for myself and a medium peach cobbler to share. I was very disappointed that the tenders were not fresh nor freshly breaded. They were pressed and glued white meat formed into a tender. I actually only ate one, shared one with my dog and threw the last one away. The potato wedges were the star. I should have ordered more of those. My husband, who LOVES fried chicken was not impressed. He said KFC and Golden Corral has better. The peach cobbler was average. So, I am sorry to summarize our experience as not having a reason to return.

We chose the main floor bar because there were less people and we were helped right away. We got a couple drinks each and all were pretty good- no watered down drinks here! My favorite was the espresso martini. We also opted for the Doritos nachos which were pretty filling for an appetizer! It has a cozy, charming atmosphere that's perfect for catching up with friends. Unfortunately, the service left a lot to be desired. It took a long time for us to be greeted, even though the restaurant wasn't busy. It was just my friend and me along with a larger group of about 10 people. One thing that made it confusing was that the employees didn't seem to have consistent uniforms, so it was difficult to tell who actually worked there. Our server was friendly, but he kept forgetting items we requested and took a long time to return to our table. I used to be a server myself, so I understand that things happen and I try to give people grace. However, the pace of service felt excessive considering how few tables were occupied. The food was okay overall, but I actually thought my meal tasted better after reheating the leftovers at home. My friend also noticed that part of her chicken looked undercooked, which was concerning. We didn't feel confident about that portion of the meal. The biggest downside for me was the pricing. For the portion sizes, food quality, and overall experience, it felt overpriced. I can definitely see why people like the atmosphere because it's a cute spot, but between the slow service, the concerns with the food, and the prices, my visit didn't live up to my expectations. I'm hoping this was just an off day because the restaurant has a lot of potential.

We had a choice between sitting inside or being seated at a picnic table on the covered deck. We were assigned a high-top table in the dining area past the bar, where a few guys were watching a soccer match. The brine-soaked fried chicken is Eagle's specialty, so we ordered it. I thought the chicken was good,. So per the menu for the three-piece fried chicken meal, you can only order either all white meat or all dark meat. Interestingly, the two people at our table that ordered white meat still got a drumstick with their meat. The last I checked, drumsticks were considered dark meat. For an appetizer, we ordered the hush puppies. They had a nice crunchy texture but were very spicy hot. We also ordered the spoonbread. This was my favorite dish of the day. It was served warm, had a great texture and a light maple flavor. With our meals, we could get two sides. We requested the collard greens, green beans, fries, grits and mac & cheese. Only the mac & cheese was good. The collard greens were way salty and the green beans had odd and unexpected seasonings. Our dining companion was put out, and understandably so, that the menu said the grits came with white cheddar cheese. But instead, though the grits maybe had cheese, they were also loaded with loads of diced jalapeno. They were so over the top spicy, none of us could eat the grits. The fries were strongly seasoned with oregano. WTF? Our entrees came with biscuits. The biscuits were tasty, but unfortunately, because they contained too much shortening, fell apart when buttering them. And that leads up to the service lapse. After we received our check, our server completely disappeared. We waited a half hour for her to re-appear, gave up and asked another server to cash us out. He disappeared and we waited some more. Finally the red-headed server re-appeared and breezily explained she had been out on the deck the whole time. No apology or anything.
