A blast from the past, old beat up restaurant. There is zero ambiance whatsoever, but I drive here from Jeffersonville to get my fried fish fix. I saw a few people dining in and more getting take-out. My friend and I ate inside which is depressing, in my opinion. The fish is good, fries average, onion rings better than average and okay Cole slaw. The service is fine. I dont like fish and chips to go because the quality of the meal degrades quickly. I want to eat it NOW before things begin to get soggy and cold. My friend liked his food as well as I did. It's not the Best we ever had, but worth driving from Jeffersonville. I wouldn't bring a date here to dine. It's just not a place for that, but to get a quick fried fish sandwich is good. I may be back to try some fried cauliflower or other sides with another fish sandwich if I don't find some place closer to home. read more

I'm there once a week, the fish is the best in southern Indiana, and the slaw is so good I always get a pint. I cannot wait until the new location with the drive-thru opens, I like getting my stuff "to go"! The service is always great and friendly even though the ladies are constantly very busy. We always liked to stop at the Dock seafood in Corydon Indiana when visiting family. It was delish. So while in New Albany we thought it was a good choice. I have to say this has killed our excitement about the place. This place looks run down and can use a little TLC. We got the fish dinner that came with 3 pieces of fish, lots of fries, a hush puppy and slaw. We added an extra hush puppy to the order. One hush puppy is $1.70. Just one My husband and I split that dinner. Fish and fries were hot. The fish was good. Fries were, well just fries. The very small of serving slaw just okay. The hush puppy's were nasty. They were doughy on the inside and not real crispy in the out side. Chewy. Not a fan of that. I just feel this place was not a good as the one that was in Corydon. The dock is some of my favorite fried fish. If you come here don't expect anything fancy. It's the same small business that hasn't changed in 30 years. The interior is simple. You order at a counter. Over that time though their food has always been consistently good and is a must stop over every time I am in the area. Everything is fried, it's what they do, so no healthy options here. What you will get is piping hot perfectly breaded fish and chips. Portions are large. My favorite is usually a fish sandwich on rye bread. I remember this location when it first opened (I believe back in the 80s). The fish is still really good after all these years (although the fish seems to have gotten smaller). Cooked to order, which is perfect. It requires a wait, but it's a reasonable amount of time. The cook works very diligently. It's not uncommon for this location to be busy, especially in the evenings and weekends (closed Sundays). The staff does a really good job at taking orders and getting people their food. Everything is good. I've not ordered anything that I truly didn't like. They will drown you with condiments. Lastly, my only complaint about this location is I don't think its booth sitting area is the cleanest (table, floor, etc), especially when I compare it to the Jeffersonville location off 10th street. Went at lunch for a clam craving and ordered to go and it was a quick process. The hush puppy was greasy and garlic flavored, but no bits of onion or anything else -- just cakey cornbread. Fries were not my fave -- fluffy and not crispy and just ... a potato. Clams and fried okra did not have much flavor -- okra was warm at best. Clams were tender but breading was dark and not best flavor and I felt it was left in the fry oil too long. Probably will not return because I would rather keep looking for better alternative for my clam craving. read more

A small decent seafood place just right across the river, reminiscent of a Moby Dick but with a smaller menu. Pretty much everything is fried, fried fish, fried chicken, fried oysters and clams, with sides such as jalapeño poppers, corn nuggets, fried mushroom and cauliflowers. There is only one type of fish, not sure what it is, but it was white, flaky and fresh. I think it's a tad pricy, $4.95 for a small fish sandwich with two pieces of fish, $6.55 for three pieces and $2.45 for 7 or 8 pieces of fried cauliflower. The large fish and fries combo looks larger though. The place is not fancy but quick and friendly. I love that it's local. Worth checking out if you're needing some fried things, quick! read more

One of the local area houses for good fried seafood. This staple of State Rd, has very seldom let it's customers down with bad fish. I cannot tell the many times I have stopped to grab a bite on my way home. For me this has become one of the places that is a go to spot. While it isn't as old as Arnie's it brings back some good warm feelings to this food lover. Are their better fish places? Sure, but not one that delivers on a constant basis for the price. I was leery of this place at first, since its décor resembled Moby Dick, the greasiest and worst tasting of all the big chains. However, this is thankfully not Moby. The fish is cooked just right, and tastes fresh. The prices are fair for what you get, maybe even a bargain, since there are many of those "trendy" places that charge even more for less than this. The workers appear to take great pride in what they do, and it shows. This is an A 1 fish place. And thankfully, they have coke instead of the bland pepsi products, which is a big plus. I've lived in New Albany for a long time, and I've driven by Dock Seafood many many times. Today I finally had a craving for fried fish and decided to give it a go. Friday during Lent probably wasn't my best decision though. Lol. It seemed very popular which made me optimistic for a delicious meal... However, what I got was less than ordinary. My boyfriend and I ordered 2 small fish sandwiches (one on white, one on wheat) cheese sticks, a hush puppy, and hand dipped onion rings. Both sandwiches were on white, but the fish was pretty good. The onion rings were soggy and bland​. The hush puppy had a good texture, but the taste was off to me. My boyfriend did not enjoy the cheese sticks at all. The service was pretty quick and the staff nice, which is what saved them from a one star review. I may be back to try thier fried okra or cauliflower, but it probably won't be anytime soon. read more

I'm not from the New Albany area, and couldn't find any "familiar" restaurants that sounded like what I was in the mood for... so, when you see a local hole in the wall that's covered up with cars and people, you stop! Dock Sea Foods did not disappoint! You walk up to a counter to order, and as busy as they were, the worker was still super patient with me after I explained that I had never been there and needed a second to scan the menu. I decided on the fish plate, and it was great. Fried cod (2 and 3 pc options) that comes with fries, slaw, and 2 pieces of bread. The tartar sauce and slaw both appeared to be homemade, however I can't confirm that. 4 stars due to limited seating and the tables that were available had not been cleaned. There were people waiting for to go orders seated in "unavailable due to covid" booths. It would have been nice if they were open for eating if people are going to sit there anyway. We had gone to Clarksville Seafood over the years, but I wanted to seek another option due to CS not having clams available on numerous visits. At Dock, we ordered fish sandwiches, clams, onions rings, fries, hushpuppies and jalapeno poppers, and everything was freshly fried, hot and came with huge portions, (my husband looked like a young boy on Christmas morning when he saw three large fish pieces with his large fish sandwich.) If someone thinks that you can find a great sea food restaurant in mid west must not know the distribution system of sea food. This place is decent for the mid west. This is a late review but reviewable nonetheless. Monday to enjoy our last day of being off from the moneymaker we decided to try Dock Sea Food. We're from Cleveland so we're very familiar with Docks and they've never disappointed. New city and state so we'll see. This location is less than 4 minutes from our house and with the wintery mix (because this weather is nothing when you're used to driving in feets of snow and inches thick of ice- shout out to my hometown Cleveland)we decided to go. The service was great. The food not so much. Now normally if the food was bad I'd say not a good choice. However, because of the great service I'll just say maybe it was an off day. We also went an hour before closing so I'm trying to maaayyyybe give them benefit of the doubt. We ordered the family box which was 5 pieces of fish, a few hush puppies, 3 slices of bread (which you have option between white or wheat), and an order of fried mushrooms. (Side bar: I DO NOT LIKE LONG JOHN SILVERS. That'll make sense here in a minute. The fish had too much batter on it and tasted of no seasoning. It almost tasted like it was a frozen bag of battered fish. The mushrooms were okay and we didn't even get to the hush puppies. The food was placed in small brown paper bags in cardboard paper boats (yes, that's what I'm calling them). Almost like a Long John Silvers touch (side bar affirmed). Unfortunately, that was par for the course once I saw the packaging. Never the less I was still going to give it a fair shake. We didn't like the food here. I called them back after getting home and explained all of that to them. They were great at giving me my money back after telling me they didn't know if they could do that. They asked if I wanted them to remake our food and I politely told them no, I'll take my money instead. It was no hassle in the return of the money. I even paid with a card and they returned it in cash. So, because of that and the good service alone we MAY try them again but not in the near future. Final Verdict: maybe your visit will be better than ours. I'm dumbing it down to time, and maybe it was just an off night for possibly variable reasons. So, try it for yourself and see if your taste buds will be happy you went there. read more
