Why not have the game everyone is there to watch on every TV? It's an official watch party for a National Women's Soccer League game.
    Rebecca T.

Went here for an official watch party for Racing Louisville FC. Despite it being an official club sponsored watch party, the bartenders had no clue about it. We had to ask for the game to be put on the television. And everyone I saw sitting at the bar was there to watch Racing. Despite this being the case, only 2 of 4 TV's behind the bar were used to show the NWSL match that people were there to watch. Then we had to ask that they turn down the music and play the sound for the game. This took a while, but they eventually turned up the volume on every TV. This, unfortunately, created an echo chamber because the streaming was coming in at different times for every TV. Bar stools were really uncomfortable and massively too tall. My 6'1" fiancé could barely reach the foot bar and had mostly dangling legs. I had to kind of leap up into the stool and also had dangling legs. The gender neutral bathrooms were clean. The bathroom is quite strange though. There is a small sink in each stall but no paper towels. The soap dispenser was empty in at least two stalls. So if you wash your hands in the stall, you use wet hands to open the door. There is a nice communal sink when you exit the stalls, but they only have hand dryers (no paper towels). Luckily, there was soap by the communal sink. Price for Makers Mark was $10, which is reasonable for downtown. The price for Eagle Rare was $28, which is ridiculous. You can buy a fifth of Eagle Rare for $60 on the secondary market. The menu has a lot of bar food options, none of which look very healthy (French fries on top of a salad?). For the watch party, I would give this place zero stars. If I were just there to have a drink, I would give it 3 to 4 stars since it was clean and new. Parking is a challenge downtown, but there are some paid lots and parking meters nearby.

These fries and fry sauce were amazing!

Number 15 was highly recommended to us by the Louisville Welcome Center and I can see why! Our bartender, Ben was fabulous and recommended a couple drinks for us and he was completely open on a couple we selected as well! We just stopped in for a drink and a snack, we shared the French fries and fry sauce - when they arrived at our table they looked so simple - but boy did they pack a punch of flavor. Everything was delicious and it was an overall good experience (with the exception of one local woman who was the lead in some kind of organized ladies group who despite us sitting at a table eating and drinking thought we were "the help" because we had tee shirts and jeans on. - one of the other ladies apologized on behalf of the local woman)

Because I'm sometimes an idiot, I couldn't figure out the door situation at a place down the street, so I kept walking and I ended up here for a weekday lunch. Fitting for the name, right? The bartender was great and recommended a local IPA. I also had the "Pittsburgh Salad" because I'm a PA girl, and discovered it's a normal salad with French fries on top, haha. Very low key and just what I was looking for

It's creative with a sense of joy, irreverent, one of a kind. And I'm happy to see it last in its spot next to Slugger Field. I got to visit recently when a bunch of friends were in town. We ended up visiting during trivia night, which added a fun twist to the experience. Our team, The Electric Sheep, got second place! And along with the fun vibes, we had great food and beer. I got The Smokehouse OG, which is its pulled pork sandwich served on a Cuban roll. If you like pulled pork, you'll like this sandwich, though typical to their fashion, AtG puts a twist on it with its Brown Note BBQ Sauce. We had to get the pork belly on a stick -- a menu fave. And for my beer, I tried the El Nopal Mexican lager (cracked up at the name) and Cold Ass Beer red ale. AtG is a Louisville original that's not to be overlooked.

I got the burger in special, the Dirty Burger. Pretty standard burger dressed with their "not so secret" sauce and fancy pickle. Super solid, very well executed. In the words of Samuel L. Jackson, this is a tasty burger! The location is pretty tough to beat with how convenient it is, and how close it is to all downtown has to offer. The atmosphere is industrial but relaxed. The staff was so wonderful and personable. Will definitely be back!

We dropped in on Oaks night and even though it was pretty busy we were able to grab two seats at the bar. The only downfall of this was the time of day and the position of the Sun blaring through the garage door windows blasting me in the face however that cannot be helped or avoided, just a heads up for anyone who is super sensitive to the sun and arrives around sunset. I started with a Sunset Spritz and looked over the menu, there are so many great options to choose from and I was really torn on what to get but decided on the blackened Mahi Mahi sandwich (you can also get grilled or fried, but the bartender recommended blackened) and an order of sweet potato fries. The fries come with a side of a smoky pineapple chutney of some sort and even though I'm not a huge fan of anything that's really smoky it was absolutely delicious and a great combo. Seriously 10/10 recommend. The sandwich was also fire! I am extremely picky about sea food, especially since I used to live near the cost so it was always fresh and it definitely did not disappoint. I was so full when we left lol My husband got the beef sliders as his entrée with a side of regular fries tossed in roasted garlic pepper. I tried them and they were just OK. The sweet potato fries are definitely where it's at! I am really looking forward to going back and trying out some new items like the Cheeseburger Hand pies, Chicken tenders or one of their boozy milkshakes ... it sounds delicious doesn't it!

I'm happy to report that although I'm not much of a drinker these days, their burgers are indeed delicious. I had the bacon cheeseburger & my friend was talked into their "Argentinian" burger by our waiter. (which has "argentinian chorizo, provolone cheese, roasted tomatoes, chimichurri sauce, caramelized onions" on it) I'm also a sucker for some good wings so I had to also try their dry run wings... all very good! It was a beautiful & warm sunny day so we got to enjoy the nice patio seating outside and still were able to see the TVs. Surprised at the lack of street noise also! Very nice area & good restaurant! Would definitely go back!

Decided we'd do a dinner of beer cheese, salad and wings. Enjoyed the beer cheese and pretzels, though it's not something that I'd order regularly. Side salads fine, nothing memorable, but at least they were fresh and crispy. Liked the wings, I got hot, the wife got sweet thai chili. When ordering, she said she'd give me one or two of hers, but she liked them so much that she finished off the plate, so that's a rave review! My hot wings were reasonably spicy and meaty as well. Appreciated the wipes! It's not going to win a Michelin star, but if we were in the area, we'd visit the troll again.

The decor is quite unique, full of character, and the history adds to the experience. It feels like you're eating in a place that actually has stories to tell rather than another cookie-cutter restaurant. The food was good overall. The wings were excellent and definitely the highlight of the meal. I tried the lime sauce, which was good, though it tasted much more like a ranch-based sauce than I expected. My burger was cooked well, flavorful, and delicious... though I was disappointed to not see the caramelizes onions promised on the menu on it. Instead there was a sad looking single piece of raw onion. Oh well. The sandwich on rye was just okay--not bad, but it didn't stand out. Fries were good and perfectly seasoned. Service was friendly and attentive, although things moved a little slower than expected during our visit. Now for the bathroom area... let's just say the journey to get there felt like the opening scene of a horror movie where someone says, "I'll be right back." It definitely adds to the pub's quirky charm, but I do wish that area--and the restaurant in general--were a bit cleaner. Overall, Troll Pub is worth a visit for the atmosphere, history, and great wings. Come for the unique experience, stay for the burger, and maybe bring a flashlight for the bathroom adventure.
