Who likes this place so much we went back twice. There's nothing special about it but that's what special about it. Jeremy makes great $8 fashioneds and has a lot of knowledge about the area. Frankly, we preferred coming here for drinks versus the two speakeasies, which we found disappointing. We also ordered some bites, which were delicious bar food. A word of advice, when you walk in here recognize that Jeremy is a long time Lowville resident so respect his bar, respect his craft and act appropriately. Stumbled upon this bar while in the Louisville area. Such a cool vibe in here! There are gender neutral bathrooms, and they were beautiful decorated. There was a sink in my stall, and beautiful shadowbox artwork above the toilet. The hosts were very helpful navigating the place. They gave us an option to drink at the main floor bar, which seemed classy and had a stage for live music, or to go downstairs, which they said had more of a sport bar vibe. We chose the main floor bar because there were less people and we were helped right away. We got a couple drinks each and all were pretty good- no watered down drinks here! My favorite was the espresso martini. We also opted for the Doritos nachos which were pretty filling for an appetizer! The menu states it's for 3-4 people, but it was a good serving for just the two of us. It had Doritos, cheese, pickled onions, lime, jalapeños, and a mixture of beans and it was delicious. Went here for an official watch party for Racing Louisville FC. Despite it being an official club sponsored watch party, the bartenders had no clue about it. We had to ask for the game to be put on the television. And everyone I saw sitting at the bar was there to watch Racing. Despite this being the case, only 2 of 4 TV's behind the bar were used to show the NWSL match that people were there to watch. Then we had to ask that they turn down the music and play the sound for the game. This took a while, but they eventually turned up the volume on every TV. This, unfortunately, created an echo chamber because the streaming was coming in at different times for every TV. Bar stools were really uncomfortable and massively too tall. My 6'1" fiancé could barely reach the foot bar and had mostly dangling legs. I had to kind of leap up into the stool and also had dangling legs. The gender neutral bathrooms were clean. The bathroom is quite strange though. There is a small sink in each stall but no paper towels. The soap dispenser was empty in at least two stalls. So if you wash your hands in the stall, you use wet hands to open the door. There is a nice communal sink when you exit the stalls, but they only have hand dryers (no paper towels). Luckily, there was soap by the communal sink. Price for Makers Mark was $10, which is reasonable for downtown. The price for Eagle Rare was $28, which is ridiculous. You can buy a fifth of Eagle Rare for $60 on the secondary market. The menu has a lot of bar food options, none of which look very healthy (French fries on top of a salad?). For the watch party, I would give this place zero stars. If I were just there to have a drink, I would give it 3 to 4 stars since it was clean and new. Parking is a challenge downtown, but there are some paid lots and parking meters nearby. read more

Number 15 was highly recommended to us by the Louisville Welcome Center and I can see why! Our bartender, Ben was fabulous and recommended a couple drinks for us and he was completely open on a couple we selected as well! We just stopped in for a drink and a snack, we shared the French fries and fry sauce - when they arrived at our table they looked so simple - but boy did they pack a punch of flavor. Because I'm sometimes an idiot, I couldn't figure out the door situation at a place down the street, so I kept walking and I ended up here for a weekday lunch. Fitting for the name, right? Literally, hands down the best BLT: (sweet and spicy bacon, tomatoes, lettuce, Benedictine mayo, herbs, Texas toast, tots) I have had in Louisville. Maybe ever. I never thought such a simple sandwich could be elevated to that level of deliciousness. Also tried the Frings: (Fries, Onion rings, bourbon duck fat, pink peppercorns, fry sauce) and the Crispy Cheese Curds: (Ranch/Green Hot sauce). Frings were OK, I didn't get any sense of the fat they were fried in being any different than normal, but the cheese curds with that sauce was bangin! Service was spot on, but I also think that is because the dining room was more than half empty. Interior is basic, but acceptably modern and appropriate for this type of setting. So check it, I was back in town for a couple of days and I decided to take my wife out for brunch on Sunday morning (I know, I should have gone to church but we slept in. God knows my heart.) Typically, we look for a place we haven't been for brunch, so I hit up the ole Yelp to find a new spot. I came across a place on Whiskey Row called Last Place, Number 15. On Yelp, there was only one review of this place, and it was for 3 stars. Not very promising at first glance, but after further research, that single opinion stated that the food was good, but they had a bad service experience. Not only that, the place had only been open for 2 months. Armed with this new info, we sought out to experience this place for ourselves, and I would render a second review for myself. Upon arrival, we were taken aback by the beautiful iron front historic facades on whiskey row. The restaurant fit in like a glove. The entry of the joint was equally impressive as they took simple elements to create a sophisticated yet minimalist atmosphere. In short, it was dope on the inside, too. Turns out that its a multifunctional building that has a bar with space for live music called the main stage from the Main street entrance, a balcony bar, an event space, and a suite, as well as a restaurant that is directly accessible from the Washington street entrance. This entrance also had outdoor seating. I would have loved to tour the building, but our goal was to sample the cuisine. We were told that they had a $25 all-you-can-eat breakfast buffet on the balcony bar level, but we wanted to explore the menu first. As we went down the steps to enter the restaurant on the lower level, we noticed it was completely empty. It almost seemed as if we startled the bartender. We started with drinks, a Vatthattan for me, and a rodeo lemonade for my wife (see menu for description). Both were delicious. For appetizers, we chose the cornbread and Bama Wings. The cornbread was dense yet flavorful. Very old school and definitely not jiffy. The tangy butter that was drizzled on it had a little kick to it but tasted very good. The Bama Wings were amazing. It was my first experience with Alabama bbq sauce, but I will say that I will have them again. The wings were brined in salt and pepper, then fried tender with an outer crisp. They were a definite hit! For our entrees, I chose the Hot Chicken and chips from the Sandos side of the menu, and my wife got the Kentucky Dip Burger and tots from the burger side. The hot chicken was tender and juicy with the right amount of spicy. I was informed that It was brined in the same solution as the wings. The sandwich had slaw that was saurkrut based and pickles that were sliced so thin that they only had one side. Both compliment the chicken, but their flavors were lost in each other. Maybe if they were sweet pickles, they may have stood out more. I was surprised that the chips were just a bag of Miss Vickies and not homemade. It was a little disappointing considering how thin the pickles were, they definitely could have sliced some Yukon golds and fried them up just the same. All and all, though, a great sandwich. The burger was a double cheeseburger served smashburger style. The simple ingredients on the burger allowed for the flavor of the beef to be the star of the show and it did not disappoint. The tots were a vibe all by themselves. Crispy outside, yet tender on the inside and tossed in chili seasoning. Get the dip mayo. It compliments the tots greatly. We had a great dining experience in an amazing atmosphere. The staff was very friendly and answered any and all questions that I had even though i probablygot on their nerves. I highly recommend. This easily could be the next gerat hangout spot in Louisville. read more

What a hidden treasure, I had a couple hours to spare and happened to walk by! The setting is beautiful, the bartender was awesome! She knows her craft, and was a delight to talk to. The food here was above average pub food. We really enjoyed the Kentucky Dip Burger and the Frings. The service left much to be desired. There are no servers so you have to go to a bar to order drinks and food is ordered in a separate area making you pay twice. The food was REALLY GOOD. But the service was so bad. We sat at the bar and it felt like we were bothering them to ask to close out. Our food and drinks were empty and we were just sitting there while the bartenders talked to and poured drinks for their friends. After trying to get their attention twice we eventually got to leave but it was honestly so awkward and embarrassing. We stopped in for lunch on a Sunday when we had some time to kill downtown, and the menu looked tasty. They weren't crowded by any means so service was good. The House Old Fashioned met our expectations, and our sandwiches were fantastic. The Mater (+bacon) was fresh, and the fillings were evenly distributed.
