A hidden gem for good bar food in the Burton area. I highly recommend the fried mushrooms and southwest spring rolls- always a must when we go. They've also upped their pizza game in the past years, worth a try when you're there. I don't like to post complaints about restaurants , but I feel I need to . It was my turn to pick a place for the Red Hat group to have our meeting . I chose Sharkey's Bar & Grill on S Center Rd in Burton Mi . My Mom made a reservation , so the tables would be set up when we arrived Well the tables were not set up . I found the waitress & she didn't know anything about us calling . She went somewhere, so I had to set up the tables because the ladies had arrived . Then a rowdy group of people arrived to play pool . That's not the restaurant's fault. We finally were able to order . It took a while to get the food . One of our ladies didn't get her food . She kept asking about it . It finally arrived when we were ready to leave . Waitress just kept making excuses about whos fault it was . Our group told the waitress the meal should be free or discounted . Waitress went in the back . She came back & said no discount or comp . Asked to speak to manager . Waitress told us manager wouldnt talk to us . We told the waitress they just lost some customers, & we will be sure to tell everyone we know about our experience. The thing is I go here quite a lot . Never any problems . I love the food here as well . I felt like since we were older that we were treated badly , but if we were a young group that they would be treated better . My Daughter just told me l had to try there Fried Mushrooms and there Hamburgers. The Cook must of had a horrible day. The Mushrooms were burnt! The double Burger was dry and hard. Could have made shoes with the patties. The Bun was Dry out and hard. This was a takeout order. But l only live less than a mile from there. My daughter insisted that it would be better at night. Maybe if we ate in they might make sure the food was good ??? For the Price they should make sure every meal is reflections on there Owner and the Restaurant. My favorite bar in flint! Great sports bar, games and fights (ufc) are always an event. The staff is incredibly kind (so long as you are too). The bouncers do their job and do it well, and are very nice guys. You will feel welcome and safe here. I've never ordered a meal that didn't taste amazing. Can't get a better price on tall drafts, and they have punch cards for them! Every 5 tall drafts you get one free! Just ask for a punch card! Multiple pool tables, arcade games, an amazing patio with corn hole and an enclosed volleyball court! It really is a good family place, I see kids here having a great time often. We don't go out as much as we used to but when we do this is our GO TO place! Can't beat the prices of the huge draft beers and the mixed drinks are reasonably priced and well made. The food is always good. Definitely better than the average "bar food" Nachos are big and filling - we always split them. Sandwich/subs are really good sized and yummy and it may seem weird for a bar but their French onion soup is one of my faves. The one thing we found a little disappointing is the pizza. It's alway looked good when we've seen it on tables but we tried it recently for the first time and it was just meh. It didn't help that it was thin crust which is not our fave. That said it's the ONLY thing on the menu we've gotten that we have been disappointed by. We love the game room because it has a little bit of everything. The patio is great when the weather cooperates and I really like that you can watch the volleyball courts from it. They also have a little fire pit and they are currently adding a pickleball court. Don't know as though I'll try it but it should be fun to watch. They also have tons of TVs with good sound. It's definitely our go to place for the big games! It's also nice when we go and they are doing a give aways. A few times we went for a big Michigan game or the Lions and they were giving away a tv during halftime. We didn't win but it was fun to even have a chance. The crowd for the games is a good mix. They may get a little rowdy but it's all friendly fun. The one time a drunk sports fan did get a little too far out of line they were quick to remove him so you don't have to worry about safety. One of the best things about the place is the waitresses! They are always super friendly and try their best to give great service even when they are packed. We absolutely love Julie! She's the best! If shes your waitress - lucky you. But don't worry all the girls there are good so you won't be disappointed. All in all I highly recommend visiting Sharkys. An incredible display of incompetence from a manager who was bartending tonight during Volleyball. Two of the subs on our team tonight who are 18 and 20 who have been showing up every week this season had went up to the bar in-between a game to ask for rackets to play pickleball and were rejected and told they have to be 21 to play pickleball. They accepted it and came back to the table. Ironically enough not 30 minutes later they had given a racket to a TWELVE year old who was the child of one of our team mates... That's kind of odd. Then hours later while the team is practicing after the games for the day have all ended the bouncer Butch comes out with the Manager and tells the two previously mentioned subs that they are kicked out and were supposed to leave earlier when the manager denied them rackets. They were never told to leave after asking about rackets. Then they claim that anyone under the age of 21 is not allowed to be here after 9PM (The 12 year old is still present) which has never been an issue before because THE GAMES GO UNTIL 10PM. When asking the bouncer "What about players on the team who are under 21 who PAID MONEY to be here and have to play games after 9?" All he said was "I don't know" Man how do you not know? That is quite a way to treat customers who show up every Thursday and buy shitty over priced food. Then after this the manager scolded our server Ivy for not kicking them out which she was never made aware of. Absolutely ridiculous these rules sound completely made up when they are randomly made into an issue. If these are rules that are supposed to be enforced this should be made clear to all guests and participants. Sharkys staff is so friendly and makes the time here very special. Yesterday my wife and I celebrated our 50th anniversary by starting the day out with a wonderful breakfast at Sharkys. Great outside seating on their patio and serves awesome meals. The owner learned it was our 50th and gave us a $50.00 gift certificate, $1.00 for each year. Though we frequent Sharkys often, this was our first time for breakfast and it was great. So much food and delicious. Thank you Sharkys for making our 50th memorable. It's a cool place but ALL the tables are always reserved during any football games, basically every weekend in the fall! We sat at a table that was reserved for 6 pm and it was only 3:30 then they came over and asked us to move. There were no other tables and the people got there early....so we were just S.O.L. They could do with about half the tvs. It might be better as a full time bar, but don't go there expecting a good dining expirience. The actual food itself wasn't that bad though. We said that he should get his meal for free because of that wait. After being told that he could either not take his food or get 30% off we call the manager over and she explained to us that the owners have a ZERO TOLERANCE for customer requests for free food. Mind you this was about a $5 meal in a party of 12 people. The staff is so friendly and even offered to take the bill out of her paycheck. I couldn't believe my ears when I heard that.
