Sharky's has been on my radar for a while and I was finally able to visit yesterday to try their famous wings. Sharky's is a local neighborhood spot with a very similar vibe to Jimmy Geez in North Haledon. There's only street parking available since they don't have a dedicated parking lot. There is a limited amount of seating inside with about 5 tables and an L-shaped bar. When we arrived there were no tables available so we ate at the bar. Service was friendly and we didn't rushed. We ordered the 5pc boneless wings with Honey BBQ sauce and another 5pc order of the boneless wings with the Boom Boom sauce. The tenders were massive, really crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. I preferred the Honey BBQ sauce over the Boom Boom sauce since I'm not a huge fan of spice. We also tried the cheeseburger sliders and the pulled pork sliders. The pulled pork sliders were by far my favorite dish. The slider buns were soft and fresh, the BBQ sauce was the perfect amount of sweetness, and the pork was very tender. I look forward to visiting again soon to try some of their other sauces and the bone-in wings. This place is right up my alley. Bar and seating up front and a private room in the back where you can reserve a table or two. As casual as it can get. Street parking. If you're going during a football game, don't be claustrophobic. It's packed. The main event is the wings. I got the house rub and the bourbon glaze. My wife got the tenders, which were MASSIVE. I wish I remembered the flavor she went with. Wings were perfectly crispy on the outside and perfectly cooked inside. TLDR: Wings are great, especially when paired with right sauce and the onion rings were perfect. Gets very busy and service is great Came here on a Saturday night and it was extremely busy. Bar section was packed and so were the tabletops. It was very lively as all the groups were drinking and talking (what do you expect though?) and it created a great environment Country Fries: fries were crispy but the overall idea could use some work. As expected, cheese was mainly on the top layer, bacon wasn't proportionate and the bottom layer was stuck together... hard to eat with forks and with your hands. Dive bar dreams come true. We went on a Monday for Happy Hour. Really small, but plenty of bar seating. Nice and clean. The girls behind the bar were welcoming and helpful. We got a dozen .90 clams on the half shell, a dozen .90 Old Bay wings, and Sharky's Fries (disco fries). Also, a beer and a cider on tap. The clams were nice and plump. The wings were crispy, juicy, and well spiced. The fries were a big portion of cheesy, brown gravy goodness. The menu has everything that you want from good bar food. Came for a last minute snack/cheat day with friends as our original destination was closed for the holiday weekend. Definitely a dive bar LOL with some rowdy locals/regulars. We honestly ordered a good chunk of their menu, everything was delicious freshly fried with great wings. The wings honestly were my favorite as they were tender, moist, and the bourbon sauce we chose was fantastic. We also ordered the boom boom shrimp which could have had less sauce but were still delicious. The Maryland fries were fantastic with the old bay seasoning and butter, definitely could have added more cheese but they were perfectly crisp. I ordered the Thai chili tenders, oh my they were giant in size so I had leftovers which reheated well in the air fryer. The sauce was nice had a very mild kick to its sweetness. Service was very patient as we were overwhelmed with the menu choices at first. Parking outside it all street parking and easier enough to find. I want to start by saying I used to be a waiter. My wife got there as you can see on the receipt 2:44pm ordered ginger ale. When I got there I needed time to see what to order for a drink. Which I did. my wife mentioned hey it's 2:52pm if they would be ok since it's only 8 minutes before the special on wings start. I said most likely no i would assume based on working at a restaurant. Which she mentioned have to wait the 8 minutes which I understood. We didn't sit there ordering water my wife ordered ginger ale and I ordered a drink. Then I ordered an appetizer so we are consuming. Once the food got there it was about 2 min before 3pm we ate and not once have went to our table to take our order. Or at least see if we are ok. I walked out respectfully paying my bill by 3:30pm about 40 minutes and not once has anyone approached to take an order or see if we wanted anything else. By far the worst service ever. I never liked the place but my wife and sister like the place. I already knew the service is bad, but this experience has literally the WORST ever. I get you work for tips. I always tip 18%-20% no matter what since I previously was a waiter. I feel like I don't have to let them know I used to be a waiter and no matter what special or not I will tip Well. Also don't enforce 18% gratuity if you can't back up the service. we didn't want to get the 5th sauce since we would get charged for it and the guy asked for what it was anyway. So I LOVE the wings here but the wait time/seating arrangement was rough this time around. I've come many times before (usually for their happy hour) and have never run into a huge issue with seating but this time I waited for almost an hour just to be seated at a communal table in the back room. The back room is also a little less lively and you feel disconnected from the rest of the restaurant. That being said, these may be my favorite wings. This is probably dude to the optionality when it comes to rubs and sauces (you can also mix and match sauces) and the amount of sauce they put on the wings. Today I had my favorite flavors which are the hot/teriyaki/garlic and the Parmesan peppercorn/garlic. If you don't like getting your hands dirty you can also try their sauces on chicken tenders which are also delicious and I tried them with the general tsos sauce today. The food came out in to go containers even though we planned to stay. It was a miscommunication. However, a second employee came over and spoke to us like trash. He told us that we could not stay and eat at the bar if we had to go containers. We couldn't even explain without being interrupted, and once we got our story across, he told us it didn't matter and that there would be a fee for staying and eating at the bar. Came here earlier today for wings around 3:00pm. The front of the bar area was full so we were told we could sit in the back. The back is a separate room with three long high top tables. There are two big TVs and the room is directly across from the restrooms. I ordered 10 piece bone-in Buffalo wings (with medium sauce) and a side of blue cheese, and an order of truffle fries. The wings were good. They had a little kick but nothing crazy. I don't think the wings are all they are hyped up to be. They are good but not great. The fries, however, were really good. Crispy on the outside but not over cooked. The wings were 90cents each since we arrived during happy hour. The waitress was attentive and continuously came to the back to check if we needed anything. She got our order wrong probably because she was in a rush and when the other waitress brought out our appetizer she just put it down and didn't say anything even after we said thank you. Then, when our boneless wings came out (we ordered bone in) our original waitress just threw them on the table. We each had one drink and while eating the dry chicken tenders we would have ordered another drink. However, there was no service. No one came up to us so we decided that if they ever came by we would just pay and leave. We waited over 20 mins for someone to come. On top of that the place is dirty. We sat in a back room since all the tables in the entrance and bar seats were taken, it was a Saturday night after all! Started with the oysters, which is what they are known for, and it didn't disappoint. You know I had to squeeze lemon zest and hit it with some hot sauce. Our potato skins were tasty, however I do prefer a crispier potato. We mixed the sauce for the chicken tenders and went with garlic/teriyaki/hot and they were amazing. The wings are really good here but they are sneaky how they price their weekly specials. So if you order regular 10pc wings its $12.99 with everything included. We came for the weekly specials happy hour that says .70cents per wing. So when i got the bill they literally charge you for everything.... blue cheese, celery sticks. The waitress asked us if we wanted celery sticks/blue cheese but never mentioned there is a fee for it. And no matter how many wings (6, 16, etc) you get they give one small container of blue cheese, if you want more they charge you .60 cents each. Also on the happy hour menu it says "there will be a .50cent per wing surcharge for leftovers wings to go" .... WOW. Than to top it off if you use a credit card they charge you fee. read more

So I'm at sharkys.. Sitting here at the bar since I'm alone.. Waiting.. waiting.. 5 min now.. No one has helped me m, or even said a word.. it's around noon and they have a nice little crowd but not packed and this bar tender is at the other end talkin and talking and talking.. so eventually I call (as I'm sitting at the bar) so the barkeep can mosey her way down here and take my order.. there's another gentleman that's working between the bar and the kitchen and I can clearly see he's busy.. was totally ready to walk out.. so she answers the phone and I ask for a menu, I'm right behind you.. she chuckles and hands me a menu.. another 3 min past and eventually the other gentleman takes my order as she gets back to her conversation with the other customers (whom I'd assume are regulars). I had the Hot garlic teriyaki wings, which were smacking to say the least! Their flavor was out of this world! I accompanied that with shrimp Mac and cheese, which was also bangin AF! I mean it super cheesy like a frikkin commercial, I had to take pics of the stringy cheese attempting to hold on as I pulled away each scoop. And da toasted roll on da side is a great touch. I can stress how good the mac and cheese was, and piping hot/ fresh. I feel like they made my batch of mac and cheese fresh just for me. Idk if it was maybe cuz I got there early in the day or I was the only one ordering mac and cheese, but it tasted like it was made with love. I promise you, I had extremely low expectations based on da set up and As much as I was pissed on how long it took to order, the food made up for it all, hands down! The food is the most surprising part of this clifton staple. From first glance, the place gives off crap dive-bar vibes BUT the food more than makes up for the tacky decor and lack of beer options. The wings are great, burgers are solid. Chicken sandwiches, steak sandwiches, pirogies, clams -all that are top notch. The problem? The service. 100% the slowest, most disinterested staff of all time. The place is constantly PACKED and honestly the food is good, but if there was another food option that served alcohol nearby then this place might lighten up. Ive seen them legit pick up calls and hang up not to take pick-up orders..... the bartenders will come to a table, ask one person at the table if they need something then leave and get back and give an attitude if someone else dares to also need something. Its wild. If you think going early might solve that? Sit at the bar perhaps? Nah. Lol its all the same. So if you have somewhere to be after lunch on a set time? Prob not the place to go. Wanna stick to cheap dive food and not end up spending $100 between two people for lunch? Lol not your place either.
