The beautiful and modern decorum, accompanied by the creative and delicious food, illicit a pricier/fancy vibe, however is surprisingly affordable every so often. Had a rough start at the beginning of getting any kind of service. We sat at the outside bar and waited about 15 min for any kind of service. When we tried to get any type of attention the lady behind the bar told my significant other she was busy and was the only bartender helping there which was fine but didn't require the attitude. My significant other apologized as it seemed like we were bothering... after I told him he didn't have to apologize and I know she heard she quickly changed her attitude completely. She became attentive and kind. We got the chicken dumplings as an appetizer, which were good and a bit spicy. I ended up getting the super salmon Poké bowl which was delicious and I loved how it was presented. It was filling so I took half of it home. First time here. Warm welcome when got in. Sat down on patio. Was a great day for it. Sat there for about 10-15 min and no one came to take our order. Manager came around to all the tables to see if all was good. We told her no one came to us. She apologized several times and sent someone over. The server stated the appetizer was on them. My fiancé and I always stop here before we go to MetLife. The last time we went we started with the chicken nachos which were a large portion but pretty underwhelming. The melted cheese only covers the top. Either layering the cheese or using a melted cheese sauce would help coat chips better. They could also use more flavor. We wouldn't get the nachos again. Last time we had the calamari which was good. My favorite thing to get is the shrimp Cobb salad. It's simple but huge and delicious. My fiancé had bacon Swiss burger. It was ok; could've used some more seasoning. I think he had some kind of chicken sandwich last time and said it was good. The cocktails are a hit or miss. Went to watch the Yankees game and asked to be seated outside. Thankfully we came when we did, it filled up quick. In short, everything was amazing. I'll definitely be back to Tommy's again. We ordered some beers on tap along with the Coal oven roasted wings w/ focaccia bread and the Hot Honey Roni pie. The wings are perfectly charred and tasted amazing, especially with the longhot's. The focaccia bread add on was great. The Hot honey Roni could have been a little more well done, but it was fantastic. I'll definitely order this again. To finish off the game, I ordered the Triple T's cheeseburger with sweet potato fries. (It was not cut when I got it, I cut it). The burger was juicy and the fries were perfect. Our second time at Tommy's Tavern in Clifton! We decided to have dinner here after a loooooong drive back from the Jersey shore. We came in on a Wednesday evening around 7pm and seated ourselves at the bar. Our server was very friendly and attentive. Unfortunately, we missed happy hour... :-( HOWEVERRRR, the Lord was watching out for us because they were having half off sangrias at $5! We weren't sure whether we wanted red or white. Our server was sweet enough to give us samples to try! They both tasted SO GOOD. Highly recommend! I went with the red sangria and my +1 went with the white. The red had a sweeter, fruitier, and deeper flavor while the white had a more refreshing and citrus-y flavor. I love coming to Tommy's because their menu options are so diverse! They have sandwiches, pasta, pizza, sushi, salads, ribs, etc. They also have daily specials. For our entrees we ordered: *Steak Sandwich with sweet potato fries ($22) - Included NY strip steak topped with wild mushrooms, caramelized onions, melted provolone, & garlic aioli on toasted ciabatta bread. This is the first time I didn't fully love a meal at Tommy's! The main issue comes down to the steak. It did not taste or look freshly made at all. The exterior was a bit tough and chewy. I requested it to be medium but there wasn't much pink. It wasn't juicy or tender. It lacked any seasoning or flavor... All of the flavor of the sandwich came from the other toppings and the sauce. I was disappointed as I was looking forward to eating a hearty steak. It tasted like a "fast food" version of it. I guess it's my fault for expecting it to taste like something out of a steakhouse LOL but gosh I was disappointed. Luckily, my sweet potato fries saved the day. They were crispy and baked to perfection. It also came with some type of sweet dipping sauce (kind of like Cinnabon frosting but with hints of maple syrup) that I fell in love with. *Brisket Sandwich with regular fries ($19) - Included sliced smoked brisket, house slaw, and carolina BBQ sauce on a toasted brioche bun. My +1 thought it tasted okay, but didn't exactly love it. They did include a generous portion of the brisket. While our entrees weren't a complete hit for us, we will still be returning customers. I've always had positive experiences at any Tommy's location, so I won't write them off just for one less satisfying meal. There's too many food and drink options to try here. I have now tried Tommy's in Clifton and Sea Bright many times, and one thing I have to say is it is always consistently good. The variety is amazing, especially if you go with a large group of friends. Pizza, burgers, pasta, sandwiches, steak, sushi. Everything is consistently good. The Sea Bright location is better of course being close to the jersey shore, but Clifton with their out door area is pretty ok too. TV's everywhere to enjoy the games. A 3.5 on Yelp is way too LOW of a rating !!!! To many overly picky annoying reviewers. Tommy's is a 4.5 easy. Go and enjoy whatever you order. My husband and I came for the first time and enjoyed our experience. It's definitely a nice spot to watch sports with plenty of tvs everywhere. Service was very friendly and attentive. I've been coming to Tommys tavern for quite a while now with my bf and I'm very happy to say that it's always a phenomenal experience. The last visit I had found a hair on my plate which happens so I let them know and they were so swift to make me a new one and offer to remove it from my bill and they checked in with me several times to make sure everything was great. The service here is always friendly and wonderful and the food is always made perfectly to order. A great hangout spot for many different crowds...ohhh and the food is good too! Whether you're looking to hang out with your buddies to chit chat or catch a game on their many flat screen TVs or if you're just looking to have a low-key meal with the family, Tommy's Tavern has you covered. With so many Tommy's Taverns popping up across the U.S. and with so many that we have passed by over the last few years, I'm kind of surprised that this is the very, verrrrry, verrrrry first Tommy's Tavern we had ever been to. With that said, I'm pretty sure that they're all very similar, if not exactly the same - as in same exterior design, same interior layout and same menu. For our first visit, we dropped in on a late Saturday morning at around 11:40am just in time for the start of lunch. When we arrived, it was pretty quiet inside with just a few tables occupied, BUT boy oh boy by the time we left an hour later, I would say about 80-85%% of the restaurant was filled. And, to my surprise, there were A LOT of families with young ones just like us. I was expecting a more adult-oriented crowd grabbing drinks since it was more of gastropub/sports bar atmosphere, but it was the complete opposite. The great thing about Tommy's and the MAIN reason why we chose to eat here was really the diversity of their menu, which was like a souped up and more mature bar food menu - your small plates/appetizers, salads, large plates/entrees, burgers + sandwiches, pizzas, flatbreads, calzones, strombolis AND even sushi and poke! First, we started off with the Tommy's Original Coal Oven Roasted Wings, which came with ranch, blue cheese and buffalo dipping sauces. Considering that I saw it repetitively on their Yelp page, I felt like it was a MUST that we order it ANDDDD it was wellll worth the space in our stomachs. There were 10 wings in total and they were very good - flavorful, tender and juicy. Definitely a solid appetizer to start with. For entrees, my wife got the Buffalo Chicken Salad and I ordered the Steak Sandwich. For our kids, we got the Kid's Menu Pizza. Let me start with the pizza because it was exactly what we needed for our kids. There were 6 slices in total and thankfully we only ordered one because it was the perfect size for sharing, however, my wife and I did sneak in a slice ourselves. The pizza was fantastic. Dare I say, this might have been the BEST kid's menu pizza I had ever had because I've always felt that the kid's menu is neglected at restaurants and it's not the same quality as the regular menu. Anyhow, it was an EXCELLENT bar pie that was nice and soft for our kids, yet very fresh and hot out of the oven. Secretly, after having a slice, I wanted the whole pie for myself! As for our entrees, I didn't get a chance to try the Buffalo Chicken Salad, but my wife thoroughly enjoyed it. It was a big, big salad. As for my Steak Sandwich, once again, like Bill & Ted's tag line --- EXCELLENTTTT. I was expecting slices of NY Strip Steak inside of the sandwich, but it was literally a whole steak! The sandwich was cut in half so it was 2 halves of a steak on bread with roasted onions, wild mushrooms, provolone cheese and some garlic aioli on a ciabatta. The steak was juicy, verrrrry flavorful and cooked perfectly at medium for me. Also, the crispy fries were fantastic too. Service throughout was great. Our waitress was quick, attentive and making sure we were OK, despite the fact that she was clearly waiting multiple tables at that busy time at the restaurant. Also, the restaurant was very spacious, with booths lining a majority of it, so no two tables are sitting on top of another. We definitely loved the environment, atmosphere, service and, most importantly, the food here! Looking forward to our next trip here already to try some of their other menu items. read more

This is the last "chain" restaurant we patronize and our favorite location is Morris plains but after a long day in nyc we wanted something familiar and wanted to see if they were consistent across locations. We were unfortunately seated near the front door and on a cold January night this was not fun. I do love that like other locations the TVs have a wide variety of sports on. We tried some new items on the vast menu, I already know I love their sushi so I opted for the steak salad which was great as well as the 50/50 appetizer. My husband's chicken vodka pasta was ehhh he didn't love it and I agree it tasted off (I've noticed they are big on lots of ingredients in their dishes and it doesn't always work). Service was friendly as always but the kitchen was struggling to keep up. Definitely still a safe favorite place just still sampling the menu and there's some hits and misses. read more

I came to Tommy's for the Michael Kay Show's Holiday Party and final show. This was my 1st time at the Clifton location. I luckily managed to join a booth with another couple, as the restaurant quickly filled up after the doors opened. I would say it was at least couple hundred people in attendance. I was overjoyed to see they brought back their famous and scrumptious duck wings on their winter special menu. I tried the Cranberry Margarita which I enjoyed enough to get a 2nd one. I finished the wings almost as fast as they came. The sticky sweet Peking sauce elevates these wings to another level. I have to shout out our server Amanda, who maneuvered her way through the crowds to bring my drinks and food, all while keeping a smile throughout. read more

We have been here since 8:45 p.m., and I still haven't received my drink. We are a party of more than 25 people, yet there is only one server handling the entire table. While I understand that serving a large group is challenging, the restaurant assured us when we called ahead that they could accommodate us. Unfortunately, they clearly could not. The service has been extremely slow, and management has not stepped in to assist despite the obvious need. Many people in our party have been waiting an unreasonable amount of time for both food and drinks. To make matters worse, our server knows that gratuity is automatically included for large parties, and it certainly feels as though there is no urgency to provide timely service. This experience has been incredibly disappointing, and many of us will not be returning. If a restaurant cannot properly staff or serve a large reservation, it should be honest about its capacity instead of accepting the booking and providing such poor service. read more

The place is huge, dim but not too dim with a bar and a lot of tables and TVs. Got a table at the patio, very warm in there. Started off with red wine sangria which was really good and fried calamari ($18) which came with a cream sauce and marinara on the side was also solid. Ended up getting a classic large pizza, half pepperoni and half breaded chicken ($23) which was really tasty. I think it's brick oven pizza not sure. The service was very attentive and great. We order two brick over pizzas and they were delicious. There was a minor hiccup when I asked for the prosciutto to be crispy, it came out with cold prosciutto on top. They went above and beyond to fix this and ended up bringing me a plate of crispy prosciutto for the pizza. We got the Pizza Alla Russa, if you like vodka pizza this was great. We also got The Donatello, this was the star of the show. If you've never had CRISPY prosciutto on pizza you should request it immediately!
