I got my hair cut here for the first time about 3 weeks ago. I had Ashley as a stylist and loooove the cut she gave me. I would recommend this Salon and Ashley to anyone. The salon is small (about 4 chairs) but it is super cute. If you like the feel of bigger commercial feel Salons then this one isn't up your alley. I've been to both types over the years and generally like the smaller ones because you get more time and attention from your stylist. Before I went to Ashley, I went to a different salon in the area and my hair cut was awful! Not only did Ashley fix that, she gave me the best hair cut I've had in a really long time. She's an amazing stylist. I also had my eye lashes tinted when I was there. I'm not really sure if I would do it again just because I didn't really notice that huge of a difference. I have been going to a friend of mine for cut and color for a long time now and only stray in times of need. This was one of those times. But this time I loved the cut and color so much I even consider going here instead. It was the day before Valentine's day and my friend was too busy, she wanted to do my hair next week. I wanted to get it done, however, before Valentine's dinner. So I called Sharon Daniel and they couldn't get me in that day but booked me an appointment for first thing in the morning with Ashley. I showed up a few minutes early and nervous. I haven't had very good experiences at other stylists. But Ashley was ready with a big smile and sat me down so we could discuss the cut. She asked a few questions about my style, how I wear my hair and what I do with it. She knew what to ask to get the best cut for me, one I would like and be comfortable with. We also discussed the color, which originally I just wanted hilights but she suggested also adding lowlights to really make it pop. By the time she began I was already comfortable. In under two hours she was done and I felt like Ashley and I were old friends by then. It was even less than I was anticipating paying. I highly recommend this salon. I used Jessica for my wedding (both hair and makeup) and I absolutely loved her. She was great during my trials and really listened to what I wanted. I have since been back several times to get my hair cut and colored. I trusted her to chop my curly hair into a short Christina Applegate/Samatha Who style, and I love it. What can I say? I was approximately 2 or so weeks away from my wedding date in October 2011 with no booking for my hair when I went into the Sharon Daniel Salon for a bridal hair trial with Abby. Everybody in that salon is professional and courteous. It's very clean and although small, well set up. I have ethnic hair which is long, thick and natural and Abby had absolutely no difficulty in finding beautiful intricate styles for me. I literally loved all of the styles she tried in my hair that day so I couldn't choose right away. She did a great wax job on my eyebrows after and I knew before I walked out of the salon that I would book her for my big day. Oh and the other thing I liked about them was their flat rate. On the day of, Abby arrived early at the hotel. I was so surprised and appreciative of this since I had other stressful situations going on as well with timing. She did my maid of honour's hair and my hair in no time at all but it was even more beautiful than at the trial. Throughout all my dancing and excitement my hair stayed in place allowing me to look and feel beautiful all night. I am sooooooooooooo happy I found them! This is a very small salon. If you are looking for a sleek, high end, commercial salon this is not the place for you. If instead you are looking for a small salon that provides a lot of personal attention and care you should truly consider coming to Sharon Daniel. Upon walking in, you will be greeted and offered a water and snack. There is only one small bench for waiting, but they do a great job scheduling and it is never crowded. The salon only has 3 stations therefore you need to book far in advance. I always book my next appointment before leaving after a cut and color. My stylist is Ashley. She is very young and casual. She talks a lot but always makes you feel like you have the most beautiful hair she has ever seen. Its a great confidence boost and everything a girl needs when getting a hair cut. The last time I went in I was scheduled for a full color, and Ashley told me that I really only needed a mini color. It was very nice of her to tell me to save me money as opposed to doing the full color. It is small things like this that really make me trust the salon. The salon using low chemical color, and really nice product. I love the Moroccan Oil that makes your hair smell beautiful, shine, and feel sleek. I've been there several times now, by the time I get used to the stylist and it takes me awhile to get her to understand me before we're on the same page and just when everything is going great with my cut and color then poof she's gone! I've lost 3 stylists in 18 months with this place and I'm pretty sure it's the owners. They can be very controlling of their staff. Shady place. read more

First-time client of Kaitlin at Sharon Daniel, and all I can say is WOW!! I've visited most of the high (and low...) end salons around Schaumburg/Hoffman, and NOBODY cut my thick, coarse hair like I wanted it...it always ended up too puffy or too short. Then I found Sharon Daniel, and all that changed! Unlike the other stylists/barbers I've visited, Kaitlin actually LISTENED and took a good look at the pics I brought in. We had a detailed discussion about what I wanted (and more important, what I DIDN'T want). She told me exactly what she was doing at each step, and she took it a little bit at a time. Going way beyond boring old scissors and clippers, Kaitlin uses modern stylist tools with speed and expertise, and she's very fun and easy to talk to =) No more chopping off 4" when I ask for 1" cut off--these folks are true professionals who really care about your happiness and appearance. They want you to come back and bring your friends along, and it shows. Kaitlin even asked whether I wanted cold or room-temperature water...even most high-end restaurants don't offer that level of service!! The feel of the place is amazing too. On the outside it might seem like a salon where old ladies go for perms and waves, but that couldn't be farther from the truth--inside it's warm, welcoming, and modern. Young ladies with funky dyed hair and lots of visible tats = my kind of place! They aren't going for a cheesy rock 'n roll vibe like the Floyd's 99 shops, and it doesn't have that cold, industrial, chop-shop feeling like Great Clips or Hair Cuttery. This is a totally modern, professional salon that's comfortable catering to people of all ages and tastes. And they love giving hugs!! Even better, the prices are decent. I paid $27 for my cut. That's about half as much as some of the other salons I've visited, but the results were twice as good. I even got a chance to meet the shop owner, Sharon, who made me feel welcome and at ease. I moved to Chicago nearly a year ago from California and began the process of "searching" for a new salon. For the first 6 months I lived in the area, I would still go back to my former stylist in California when I was in town for vacations but decided that I really needed to find a new salon here. I came to yelp.com to begin my search and found Sharon Daniel Salon - it is obvious their customers love their work and are so happy with their different experiences listed on here. I decided to visit the salon prior to booking and love the small 3-chair shabby chic salon. I was instantly greeted by the receptionist who gave me their pricing sheet and recommended a stylist for me based on my needs. I came for my first appointment last November for just a cut with Nicole and loved the way she cut and styled my hair. I made a trip back to CA in December so used my previous stylist for my color before booking an appointment with Nicole again in February for both a cut/partial highlight. She made sure that everything was exactly the way I wanted it, even allowing me to come back and lighten it more to get exactly the color I wanted. Brought my wife here less than an hour before closing, and they welcomed us with warm smiles and incredible enthusiasm! The owner of the salon personally greeted us, educated us on the business, what services are offered, gave us water, coffee, candy, the whole 9 yards! The service was spectacular, and judging by the results of everyone's hair, all stylists here are very talented. Hey guess what? They do guy haircuts too! My fiance goes here for all her haircuts, I usually go someplace closer to home. Everyone here is very nice. They offer you something to drink while you wait even. They woman I had cut my hair very well and was very personable. The only down sides to this place are that it is a bit expensive (at least as guy haircuts go), it is small, and usually they are booked a week or two in advance. Overall, nice place. read more

There are so many wonderful things that I could say about this salon and the incredible people that work there...i'm not sure where to begin. First of all, the the owner/operator, Sharon might just be the nicest and most patient individual that i have ever met. But not only that...she is incredibly talented and versatile as a hair stylist. This salon has seen me through everything from highlights to extensions to my wedding day. There is no salon I trust more with my hair. I got married not too long ago, and I am so glad I chose this salon for my pre-bridal prep. I had been going somewhere else for haircuts, but they just weren't thrilling me all that much. It is a bit risky to try a new place just before your wedding, but I went if for a few trials and I was very happy with how my hair was done. I got my hair cut by Ashley. She was very sweet and conversation wasn't awkward at all, like with some hair cuts. Overall, I thought the cut was OK. It looked good when she was done, but she cut it longer in the front and shorter doing back--a weird asymmetrical thing (but not a bob..it was below my shoulders). After getting home, I decided that's not what I wanted. I could have gone back and I'm sure she would have tried to fix it, but I didn't really want to go through the hassle. I let it grow out and got it cut at a different salon, with more of a style I was hoping for. It was a definitely a bit overpriced as well. I would say it was worth $25-30 and not $50. read more

I don't like leaving negative reviews but this was too bad not to. I had Jamie cut my hair. She was nice but the hair cut was horrible. All I wanted was a straight forward bob. What I got was little hairs chopped for volume she claimed. But once those hairs started growing a little bit they just looked like a bunch of broken off hair. I also just wanted a straight forward bang and got layers chopped in 3 different sections that had nothing to do with bangs. My hair is pretty simple to cut and I don't expect that much. But I do expect the hair dresser to know how to cut bangs and a bob. I would never go back or even recommend them. She was awful. She needs to learn to cut hair before she cuts actual clients. read more

Unfortunately I had been going to a place that overprocessed my hair and not happy with the cut. I looked around and through Yelp I saw good reviews on this Salon so decided to give it a try. I was fortunate to get Abby. Had to wait a week (w/conflicting schedules-both hers and mine) but well worth the wait. Almost blew it though. My appt was for 11 am and the next thing I knew, it was 11:11 and I was still at home!! Frantically I called and they were sweet enough to get me in at 3 pm - whew. I wasn't too familiar with the area and past it up but hey, that's what they make U-turns for. Walked in (quite sheepishly) and apologetically announced I had arrived. The receptionist was so sweet and asked if I would like to see some magazines to get an idea of hair cuts or do I know what I wanted? Needless to say, I took the magazines. She even sat near me (small area) and gave her opion when asked. Abby came and took me to her chair. There we talked about my hair, my routines, what I "thought" I would like and her suggestions. She must have spent 15-20 minutes with me on her consultation. It was soooooo good to have someone who "listens" and actually cares about their client. Long and short of it, she cut my hair and I must say, I'm elated!!!! I told her to just "do your thing" and she sure did. Now with a couple of more cuts I'll be able to work on the color. Can't wait. Was also told that if I needed a touch up cut that it was complimentary. Wow. All the yelp reviews were right. This my friends, is a hidden gem!! read more

I booked my bridal party eight months in advance to assure myself that I would get the make-up artist and the air brushing. Im now six weeks out from my wedding and just found out the artist that I was booked for doesn't do air brushing. There are only two people who do it and they are both booked. Now I have to scramble to find a new salon for me and my girls. I wish they would have said something MONTHS ago when I booked! Needless to say I cancelled my trial and day of appointment. I love Sharon Daniel Salon! I have been going to Abby for my haircuts for about two and a half years now and she is by far the BEST (I have already had 2 friends 'convert' to using Abby after my recommendation/meeting her at my wedding). Abby always does an amazing job on haircuts, an amazing job on styling, and she is truly just a joy to work with! One very important thing about Abby is she actually listens to what you want! I like to keep my hair a certain length and in the past I've had many stylists go shorter than I was expecting/asked them to. Abby always confirms how much she is going to be cutting off and never does more than she said she would before she started cutting! Abby did my hair for both my engagement photos and my wedding. The day of my engagement photos it was very dreary out and very windy and Abby set my hair before I left the salon and made it so my hair wouldn't fall flat and fall apart out in the wind. My hair held up perfectly, I got so many compliments on my hair and makeup (Abby did my makeup that day) on my save the dates, you couldn't even tell it was a bad weather day! Abby did an incredible job on my wedding day. She did exactly what I had wanted and my hair held up all day. Abby did the entire bridal party's hair and everyone was extremely happy with their hair and enjoyed working with her. Abby works well with all types of hair/all types of styles. I don't personally get highlights but two of my friends go to her for highlights (including hombre) and they always look amazing. I had Nicole do my hair and bridesmaids hair back in June for my wedding. She was super sweet and attentive to what I wanted. I ended up doing a second trial with new extensions and it turned out great.The day of she was on time-on schedule and everyone's hair turned out gorgeous! I absolutely love the Sharon Daniel Salon. I first became aware of them 4 years ago when I was in a wedding and our hair & makeup were done by stylists at the salon. They did such a great job that I decided to use them for my wedding as well. I loved what Lindsay did with my hair so much that I she became my go to hair stylist. When Lindsay moved away, Abby became my stylist and I couldn't be more pleased! She is so sweet and she has such a good memory - we pick up conversations from three months before like we'd just seen each other the other day. She does a great job with my hair! I love that the salon is small - I feel like I know everyone there and it's like walking into a friend's house instead of a hair salon. It is so clean and well decorated, but very warm and comforting (unlike a lot of salons that I've been to that feel very cold and unwelcoming...MT for example). I went to this salon for my first time with long hair that had dead ends and in desperate need of a new look. I had my appointment with Ashley and when i explained to her the dramatic switch i wanted from my natural blonde hair and added blonde highlights to a dark mocha brunette look i desired, she wasnt afraid of the challenge but was totally looking forward to the transformation. And she did just that, i went from having outgrown layers, dead ends and a dirty blonde borning look to a fun, energetic, healthy brunette bombshell with stylish layers. Compliments poured in after I got my hair done about how great it looked anywhere from the color, natural look, and healthy appearance.
