I went to Jelzstrait salon to have my hair rebonded. I have thick asian hair that has been damaged from previous hair treatments. At first I was a little bit skeptical as to how my hair would turn out. But Ate Jellie did not disappoint me! My hair is now soft and smooth! She also assured me that cutting my hair short because of all the damage will be the best decision and I trusted her on that! I had been wanting to get my hair Japanese straightened/thermal reconditioned for many years now.I finally decided to do it with Jelz three days ago. I had previously colored hair, and I also had had a keratin treatment (Brazilian Blowout) done a few years ago, but she managed to mix up a perfect mixture of strengths of the chemicals that worked for my hair. She also used Liscio, which was a product that I was specifically hoping for. I am very glad I went to Jelz to get my hair straightened, I would definitely recommend her. This lady Jelz, must say changed my appearance over few hours of her magic on my fine frizzy weak, over processed hair! What a fine stylist! I was visiting Schaumburg for a day and the moment I explained my situation, she switched her other appointment and did the best! They say everything happens for a reason, and I am sure this was my reason to visit Schaumburg. She cared to explain each step and did not go by books, instead, she evaluated my hair condition each step and progressed further. I went there a few times for the thermal reconditioning. The result was to burn my hair really bad. Instead of doing just the roots she would overlap over and over which she didnt suppose to do cause once this procedure is done your hair cannot turn curly again. The other great problem is she's bringing her kid to work and while she was suppose to rinse the product off my hair she got busy chasing her kid around so I had to start rinsing myself before my hair get totally burned. She finally showed up and finish the job but Im very frustrated and dissapointed. Im not paying $380 so she brings her problems at work and chasing after her kid. Very unprofessional. read more

I made an appointment to have my hair re bonded. She did an amazing job and I Love love love the results. Every time she put something in my hair she explained to me exactly what she was doing and why. Jelly even trimmed the ends of hair to make them even. Very friendly to my mother and me. Definitely will come back when I have to touch up my hair and even come for hair cuts and to get hair done ! Worth the money! read more

I came to Jelz Salon to get my hair straightened. I explained to her that my hair had been dyed with bleach (balayaged) a few months earlier and she said she would look at it first to see if it was strong enough to go through the straightening process. I also told her that about a year and half ago I had my hair permanently straightened before, so the ends were still straight from that process. She proceeded to tell me that everything was fine and that my hair would be strong enough to do the treatment, so she began! During the treatment, everything was going well until she washed the chemicals out of my hair. She sent me to another room and put me under a hair dryer. She didn't come back for AN HOUR AND A HALF LATER to get me. She had another client at the same time that I was there so I assumed that she left me out there for so long because she was busy working on the other client. I found that extremely unprofessional to leave me for over an hour with no explanation. After being at her salon for about 5 hours the process was finally done, she charged me $800 (which was a shocking price tag to me) and I went home. A few days after the treatment was done I noticed the ends of my hair feeling extremely dry. They were broken and felt like hay. Also, during my showers bunches of hair would fall out. I assumed that I needed to use a deep conditioner for a bit after the treatment since the ends of my hair were color treated. I used a deep conditioner and a leave in conditioner but nothing was helping so I called up Jelz. She told me to come in a she would do I deep conditioning treatment for me. I went to see her and after the treatment my hair felt great for about two days. When I went to see her I asked if I needed any of my ends cut off due to the damage and she said no. After two days my hair returned to its dry, brittle state. I ended up going to another salon to get the broken ends cut off to see if that would help, and when I went she said that I would need at least two inches cut off since my hair was so badly damaged. While she was cutting my hair, she asked me if I had any chemical straightening treatment done to my hair recently, I said yes. She then proceeded to show me several sections of my hair that were about an inch in length that had been burned and broken off. I was SO UPSET! There were multiple patches in the back of my scalp, and at my colick on the top of my head. They told me that it was the result of the chemicals being left on for too long, and that the chemicals had burned off my hair. I talked to Jelz about it immediately and she refused to do anything about it, and blamed me for my hair being broken off!! Now I have multiple sections of my hair that are only about two inches long and she REFUSES to refund my money or do anything. This is the worst customer service I have ever witnessed and I wanted to write this to tell everyone who is thinking about getting their hair straightened here to look elsewhere. She is a complete con artist who charges you an outrageous amount of money and ruins your hair and then does NOTHING to fix it after the fact. read more
