I feel like I owe everyone out there a honest review of my experience with From The Top Salon since I tried them after reading only terrific reviews. I went to FTTS after driving by it for years and looking it up and finding it is an Aveda salon. I was scheduled with Jen for a cut and highlight. I had been getting my hair done somewhere else for years but due to COVID I needed a new place and had some good natural growth. I described to Jen, I wanted natural looking highlight spread farther apart to look more natural as I was transitioning from super blonde to something more natural. My experience there was okay, Jen and the others who work there are very nice. I left thinking my hair looked more blonde than I wanted but once i got home i had an opportunity to brush it myself and take a more thorough look. (see picture) I was left with super orangey/blonde thick streaks. I was so embarrassed by my hair, I tried calling the owner who wasn't in so I chose to email her to share the picture. Mary chose to have Jen call me which was just really uncomfortable - 9 mins of Jen telling me this is the hair I wanted. Finally, i stopped in and Mary fixed it by adding more highlights between the streaks - which was better than what I had but not at all what I wanted. All in all, I wasn't listened to in this salon, even when I was upset and trying to have my hair fixed. From the get go I said I wanted a more natural look and I have super blonde super "highlighted" and bleach damaged hair. Honest review. Wouldn't go back. read more

I had my hair done here yesterday for the first time. I did follow my stylist from her previous place. But I'm really impressed how much I like the color the Aveda brand versus the Redken. I just started going to From The Top Salon three months ago. The stylist I went to for 10+ years chose to stay at home with her kids. Then I found an awesome stylist whose expertise is styling curly hair. He relocated to Palm Springs. I felt doomed until I started going to From The Top. Mary (the owner) knew exactly what to do with my curly hair. She is amazing. I loved the cut, color and the style. For the first time in years I did not have to tweek my hair when I got home. This review is LONG overdue! Last year I got my hair severely damaged by having 2 different salons attempt to balayage my hair... The first one was one of the Mario Tricoci's salon, and I won't mention the other one because it's a small, one location salon, and I don't want to hurt their business. So, after being recommended From The Top, I came to Jen with a lot of trust issues and extremely damaged hair. Jen is AMAZING!!! She's the only that was able to give me exactly what I wanted!!! I was so happy!!! I finally got the balayage of my dreams, and I really appreciated her taking her time and explaining the process of how to achieve this look. I wish I could give From the Top a million stars for saving my hair and my self-esteem!!! I'm long over due for a coloring.... and I will not let anyone else touch my hair if it's not Jen or Mary!! Just giving it another shout out. I have gone here for about two years now and cannot say one bad thing. Depending on my schedule I've been able to see several different stylist and have not had any issues. Originally I was a blond and then went brunette and was nervous about being able to find a salon that could do that for me, without my hair turning green or brassy. But no, their AVEDA products and very skilled stylist were able to pull off what I loved and I haven't looked back. If you're looking for a local salon with over 20 years experience in one location I would highly recommend From The Top. read more

I made an appointment to touch up my subtle balayage (brunette) to accommodate a trim and subtle layers. What I got from Katie was orange hair with leopard spots where bleach didn't process. She threw bleach on my hair and made me a horrible shade of blonde. NOT what I had asked for. I tried to like it, I also tried to not have a mental breakdown in the salon. My hair is ruined and won't be fixed until I can grow it out and chop it off. I went to another salon the next day and they made it bearable. From the top's policy is to have their clients come back to have it fixed... I no longer had confidence in their ability. My hair is fried with bleach and I had to pay way too much money for it. They refuse to refund me. Please save yourself and go elsewhere. read more

I do not like giving bad reviews but I had such great hope for this place as it is an Aveda concept salon and it fell way short of what I am used to. It was a groupon deal but the worst salon experience I have ever had. My stylist was great, on the newer side but very nice. She did a good job, She gets 3 stars. Experience & comfort level give this place 1 star. I have always had fine hair, I realize this but I work with what I got and there is nothing I can really do to fix heredity. They were supposed to give me a free sample and they did but not before insulting me. "This is for THINNING hair" they said loudly 3 times. The owner was not very nice and the "nice" I saw was fake to be honest. I would much rather you say nothing to me than be fake. Another stylist was staring at me like I am not allowed to get my hair cut. I did not get everything I was supposed to on the groupon which was disappointing. By the time I left I felt terrible and like I did something wrong. You get what you pay for but I paid too much for this groupon. read more

From the Top is one of the best salons I have ever been too, since stepping in here i have not been to another salon. Everyone is extremely friendly and kind. They have coffee, tea, wine, water, candy, and COOKIES! The salon is very warm and cozy. It is an Aveda concept salon so therefore it is very natural. I have visited two stylist there and currently my stylist is Anita. She is the best I have ever had! She takes her time(but not too long) and makes sure every detail is screaming perfection. I would recommend her for a stylist. They also do make up there! Can it get any more wonderful? read more
