sharp healthcare has the worst healthcare app ever created!!!!! i can't even check my labs that i need to check, because the app is totally non functional!!! ihave tried calling, no help, no one seems to know what the hell is the matter with it, or how to fix it, so i guess i will have to go to a totally different healthcare system, different doctors and offices, totally out of the sharp healthcare system, because you can't fix or change this damn app!!! i have to totally get out of the sharp healthcare system, because you refuse to fix this! it's a shame because i really like my doctor, but i need to be able to check my labs,and can't with this app!!!! it doesn't work, so now i have to leave sharp healthcare because you won't fix the app or remove it!!! i have to now find a different healthcare system, because you won't remove an app that doesn't work!!!!!!!! so long sharp healthcare!!!! i am going on to the media and tell people don't use a doctor from sharp, as you will not be able to contact or heck any of your lab reports or care, as their app doesn't work, and they won't take it down. i talk to the abc affiliate here in san diego on the news in two days. i will just tell everyone not to use sharp healthcare, because their app never works and you will not be able to check anything! no access for your tests or doctor reports! i just called and i can't get anything!!!!! no lab reports, nothing, because the app won't put me through!!!!! do not go with sharp healthcare at all! not if you want to know what is the matter with you, as you can't get to any of your reports that you need to know the numbers for! you will be dead before you can find out! fix this crap, or take the app down immediately! i am contacting the ama and letting them know not to recommend sharp healthcare to anyone, as they will not take their app down, that doesn't allow you to contact them!! read more

Jennifer C is just...outstanding. After finding out from other Sharp Health employees that our health plan was not going to cover AI due to us being an LGBTQ couple, we were let down by the discriminatory verbiage in the plan. We were connected with Jennifer who researched our coverage and found out that the handbook changed the definition of "infertility". She let us know that we had coverage, but would need to switch Medical Groups in order to see the correct physicians. She took on the task like we were family members, fighting for answers and followed up the same day. As a person that works in the healthcare field, I can truly say she is a special one. Today my parents and I called into Sharp Health Plan to discuss their Medicare coverage needs and we were connected to Shanika. Shanika (on the Medicare side) was really knowledgeable and helped us narrow down a plan that we hope will work well for them. She was very patient and kind, and extremely helpful when it came to helping us enroll in the program we are considering. I wish that all calls went this smoothly! We could tell that she really cared for us, wanting us to find a plan that would meet my parents needs. Never once did we feel like she was trying to 'sell us' something. Today, I had a question about a complicated health insurance issue. I tried to get an answer over the phone from a different insurer but decided to go to the Sharp Health Plan Office. I was greeted courteously by the security staff, who transferred my request to speak to someone on the staff. I got the most amazing help! Susan, one of the staff, came out and politely asked what my question was. She got to the heart of the issue, listened courteously, and asked for some time to discuss it with her manager. In less than 5 minutes, she returned with the answer I needed! My whole experience was exceptional. I appreciated that Susan took time from her busy day to help me. read more

Andrea at Customer Service for Sharp Direct Advantage is one of the reasons I'm still with this plan. I called today as I was unable to get an appointment with Psychiatric Center of San Diego. I was on hold for 49 minutes and then was told the first available appointment wasn't until later December! Are you kidding me this is substandard healthcare particularly when dealing with mental health. Andrea was so kind and tried to call the managers of Psychiatric Center of SD and was unable to reach anyone. Andrea was so apologetic. She sounded very much like the last Pearson who I liked on my last call to the customer center; it was Andrea! Ironically my call was involving my same issue. Update: patient care service Yelp generic response asked me to call customer service to resolve my concern. The Customer Service number listed is where I have called twice and my husband once. Customer service staff have inadequately addressed our concerns and offered no next level support to address our needs. It was clearly expressed there was nothing they could do if I didn't just select any physician because it did it matter if I ever saw them. What is the point in having a primary care doctor who knows you if you never see them? What sharp experience are you trying to sell? So far my experience with the health plan has been poor. We have a special needs kid that has major issues and we can't even find the right doctor. Original post: 10/27/21: New member. None of the physicians I have selected are updated on the Sharp website. When I try and select a physician - even when they say "accepting new patients" --this is not true. When you speak with a representative (which I have done twice now) and ask if they can share which physicians are actually available - they say they can't tell if a physician is accepting new patients until they enter it in the system. Then the program system they use says it won't allow a change. Either staff are not trained on how to offer available physicians or Sharp is advertising physicians that are not really available which is false advertising. The network of primary care physicians near where I live and work is very small. I have had Sharp since August and have not yet been able to select a physician or access needed care for me or my family. Regardless - someone needs to be able to provide customer service to new members that welcomes them to the plan and really supports finding the right physician vs "pick any physician because it doesn't matter." read more

My review is regarding Sharp Health Insurance for Graybill/Palomar. Healthcare has been compromised due to their communication systems and access to healthcare records being down for several months. Apparently their computer systems, including phones have been hacked. No phone access to reach the caregivers, prescription refills are seriously delayed or unavailable. Appointments must be made in person and are then cancelled, rescheduled or not honored without explanation or communication. I saw a 75 year old gentleman that had recently had heart surgery turned away from the office saying he could not be seen. He had a handwritten appointment that the office had mistakenly forgotten to log in their appointment book. He had driven 45 minutes to his appointment. Waiting rooms are packed with frustrated patients and when the doctor do see you they must rush you through in an attempt to see everyone. All the while, Sharp bills for the insurance for compromised services. When called out for it, they claim all services are working and available and the shortcomings are just an inconvenience. A class action lawsuit should be put together. read more

Typical hmo. Made me go to a neurosurgeon in San Diego rather than a top neurosurgeon five hours away. Now I'm disabled probably for life. Brain fog, dizzy, ataxia, numbness. All new symptoms from the surgery. Problems started with the ACA so I can't completely blame sharp. Had a great plan that I liked with doctors I liked. Didn't get to keep either despite a political hack telling me I'd keep both. Now I pay more for less. Had good experience in the past but they should have let me choose my doctor. Don't use an hmo if you can afford it. Don't be fooled by the follow up comment. They don't really care and don't answer that feedback email address they provide. This review is not about the Health plan, but maybe some authority will read it and be able to take some action to fix the Sharp App that was launced in March, 2014.The app for contacting doctors is extremely difficult to use. It requires too many characters to type in order to access most anything. Older people such as me have arthritic fingers and and poor eyesight. We make mistakes too frequently when trying to use the app. We usually need to use the app when we are not feeling well. There is great anxiety while trying to message and read messages. That just makes my other symptoms worse. I feel like gathering a petition among other users who are having the same problems. Even the doctor I went to recently said he is having trouble with messages. I want to work with a large keyboard and big screen. I was told that my computer is too old. Why should I have to buy new devices?! I have a limited income. I am angry that I cannot find a supervisor who would carry my complaint to higher authorities. If I knew how to complain on Tiktok , X, Instagram, or Facebook I would try to make this complaint go viral. Then maybe something would be done to correct these serious problems. As an 86 year old woman, I do not know how to do so. Nor do I feel I should have to subscribe to something run by Musk, Zuckerberg, or other! read more

I contacted Sharp Health Plan to re-enroll in one of their plans and was lucky enough to have Ryan Cortez assist me with my questions and process. Ryan was amazing at every step of the way. On the phone, he answered every question I had in a clear and simple way. Definitely made me feel that I was making the right choice in re-enrolling in Sharp Health. I contacted him again a few more times with different questions and needs regarding my account and he quickly solved every issue. He also helped me enroll my husband in a new plan. Health insurance can be daunting, but Ryan made the process easy and painless. Thank you, Ryan!! This review is for Sharp Health Plan insurance and not the medical staff because I had no interaction with them. I signed up for Sharp Health Plan through Covered CA August 2018. To make my plan effective, I had to first make a payment online so I did. I paid on 8/31 for my plan to be effective for September. After I made this payment and received email confirmation, I never heard from them again. No welcome package, no member card, no information or email was ever sent to me. In November, I called Covered CA and switched to another health insurance plan of which I received a member card and welcome package right away and have been so happy with them ever since. I also have proof of this termination and switch to another plan. Come January, I receive invoices from Sharp Health Plan saying I owe them for January 2019. For what? I never received anything from them and why am I getting mail all of a sudden 3 months later? I email them about this matter and was sent a message that could only be read if I signed into my account. Seeing as though I do not have an account with them, communication was impossible. Without my Covered CA rep, I don't think these people would have ever left me alone. I don't want to speak too soon because who knows if I'll be getting more mail from them moving forward. After so many companies having issues with employees who don't care to have customer service skills, Araceli was a true breath of fresh air. She had to put me on hold a few times, but each time, she got back to me to let me know what she was doing and how long it would take. I had a great customer service experience with Natasha P.! I got my insurance with Sharp through coveredCA and at the time it was set up my account was missing information and was just not set up properly. When I spoke with Natasha she quickly identified a billing issue that would have caused me to miss payments and was able to resolve it with ease. Since she noticed that it wasn't set up properly she took a deeper look into my account and noticed a few other items that were incorrect and/or missing and she updated everything for me. Even after all that, she followed up with me when there was a reduction in cost for my monthly payments when no one else bothered to inform me. She is amazing at her job and I hope to be able to speak with her next time I have any issues. read more

My wife had a brain bleed march on 2021. She spent 4 months in the hospital and rehab. The care was top shelf. She is still undergoing physical therapy and speech therapy. The physical therapist is amazing. We are blessed to have such great care. read more

I called Sharp Health to see about getting a replacement shipment Levi called and spoke to a Supervisor at the Mail Order Pharmacy company. I just wanna acknowledge Ricardo E. for giving an exceptional customer service. What happened was I used to be in Sharp Community and transitioned to Sharp Rees-Stealy. And there was a bill that I receive for a service denial that I didn't even had. I think there was a confusion because of the changes and because I had seen urgent care in between those dates before I had change my group plan. He helped me all through the way and stayed with me on the line while he transfers me to different department. We're in a 3 way call the whole time and he didn't just transfer and let me take care of it just like what most of other agents do. Ending is they told me to just disregard the letter coz they can't find it on their system and clearly it was just a mistake. read more

In December 2017 I was prescribed a drug by my doctor. It was not on the Sharp Health Plan (SHP) formulary. I had to pay the total cost out of pocket. My doctor and I submitted all the forms for prior authorization and before the refill was done in January, SHP had approved it. Thus, my January refill was paid by SHP. On 1/8/18, I submitted by fax the medication reimbursement form along with the required documentation as described on the SHP website for my December out of pocket expenses. Over a month went by with no response from SHP and no check in the mail for the $325 I am owed. Since then I have made countless phone calls to SHP customer care. I was always promised it would be done soon and they were just extraordinarily busy. I asked several times to speak with a supervisor. I was told that is not how it works. However, they would message a supervisor and have them call me back. Every promised returned call has never been received. I even called MedImpact, the SHP pharmacy benefit manager. They told me it is SHP's duty to reimburse me, whereas SHP told me MedImpact was to reimburse me. I even got the two customer service agents on a conference call. That didn't resolve anything. March 15th was the first customer service call I had with SHP that seemed to go somewhere. Cynthia dug deeper into things and found out that the forms I had faxed went to the correct number, but somehow ended up in the Covered California files and not the group plan files where it should have been. She asked me to fax the forms again, which I did the same day. I still do not have my reimbursement. The form says allow 30 days. It has been over 30 days since the second time I submitted and over 90 days since the first submission. Again, I have called SHP customer service several times since 3/15/18. I always get the same excuses and promised calls from a supervisor. I have been told that the reimbursement forms were received, approved and submitted to MedImpact for processing. SHP claims MedImpact will send the check. I called MedImpact again yesterday and they tell me SHP must send the check. This is a never ending cycle of poor customer service, incompetency and waiting. Lots and lots of waiting. Waiting for returned calls that never are made and checks that never arrive. One other bit of ineptitude seems to be over my phone number SHP has in their system. Every time I call they verify address and phone number. When I verify my phone number it is always wrong. They have listed my home phone number which is only used for my security system. I do not have a phone connected to it and have not for years. Every call they say they change the phone number in the system to my cell. Every subsequent call, the wrong number is still listed. Can you see why this is driving me crazy now? If this is not resolved this week, I will be reporting it to the California Department of Insurance, which has quickly resolved health insurance claims for me in the past. I am very happy with the care I receive from Sharp facilities and providers, but Sharp Health Plan customer service is broken. read more

I've been a Sharps patient for several years, but I feel the level of service has dropped dramatically. All attempts to reach the team by phone require a long (3 to five minute) wait while the automated system plays one canned message after another. Then your call is routed to a call center operator that may or may not transfer your call to the healthcare provider you need to speak to. I just tried to call the MRI center and waited 20 minutes without any human picking up. When I executed the option to leave a voicemail, the call was dropped after ringing about 30 times. I do not feel the system is set up with patient welfare as a priority. read more

I am a single mom who just moved back to the US from Europe and had to get health insurance for my son, who has a chronic illness, and myself. I was so utterly confused by everything and at my wit's end with all of it, called Sharp and was lucky enough to be helped by Mariann O, who held my hand and walked me through what I was doing, she was so patient with me and gave me all kinds of extra attention and information. I was really dreading calling customer care at Sharp because of previous experiences with other health care customer services. I was pleasantly surprised. I called regarding a bill for an ambulance ride I had back in March after I was mowed down by a truck. Ana took the call. She went above and beyond to get the situation rectified(the bill had never been submitted to Sharp by the ambulance company) Not only did she answer all my questions, but she went above and beyond and called the debt collection company that the ambulance company had contracted regarding my failure to pay. Ana made sure that they put my account on hold and gave them my insurance information and told them to submit the claim through. Thank you Ana for giving me peace of mind! read more

Sharp has turned into the worst health care experience ever. After years of having Sharp reas stealy, now getting basic treatment or an appointment has become impossible. They will torture you with your birthdate, social and phone number, and as with me, their automated system will not know who you are, even having been a patient for years. Urgent care is open until 8 on holidays, except not all holidays - like today. Publishes it is open, drive down, and it is closed! 24 hour nurse line, the first AUTOMATED response will confirm it is not really 24 hours! Get a human and they will "punt" with trained expressions like "I do not know what kind of coverage you have" (translate "I have zero interest in helping you with you medical condition and you should call your insurance). Brilliant! Twice in the last three weeks, a Sharp Customer Service representative (the person on the 24 hour line and Hanna B in Rancho Bernardo, (your customer service will never be forgotten)) has provided the suggestion to go to another facility and pay fill price!) Hanna B suggested I could keep my appointment but I had to pay full price because I had been evidently been switched to another Sharp group! News to me. Sharp's new business model is to create so many hurdles to entry, making it so painful, that you will give up and stay home. GREAT business model! And once you get through the aggressive obstructions, you will not be able to see a doctor for weeks. The "punt" which has got to occur on every call is you can see a nurse practicioner in a week. Yep. This is how Sharp rolls. Do you pay exorbitant rates for a doctor? Hahahaha! Ok, ok, ok, they have a doctor that can see you at 7 am in a neighboring county. The reality is it will be weeks! Right now, I am waiting to see a doctor about a pulled muscle (trying to get an appointment for over two weeks) and my daughter has what appears to be pink eye and urgent car is closed while the 24 hour nurse line is a complete fiction. Oddly, I have heard Kaiser is actually taking care of its patients. Strongly advise another health care provider. No promises, but Sharp wants your money but has no desire to provide medical services. read more
