I came here as part of a workman's comp gig. I was crawling underneath some tables in my classroom plugging in some computer when and where I contracted a lower lumbar sprain. After being urged to come by the office staff, I ended up here. I had to wait a little bit because I was a walk in. My doctor who treated my was cordial and asked a battery of questions to get a clear picture of my injury. After, a few X-Rays and an examination of the area, the doctor confirmed what I had, a sprain. I was prescribed some muscle relaxers and pain killers. I was also given instruction of some moderate stretching exercises to help with the injury. Well, to make a long story short, I am feeling much better, except for some periodic stiffness in the area and minor pain, I am back, much to the chagrin of my students. Ha! read more

I went to the ER last night for breathing issues , at first it seemed like everything was going fast . But after they put me in a room , they forgot I was in there . It took 3 hours for a doctor to come and see me . No nursing staff or any customer care or even the ppl that take your insurance came to see me . They always do this one at the LA mesa er hospital . You seen elderly ppl just sitting in uncomfortable chairs and not even given a room to lay down . My situation wasn't as bad as alot in there and they just left me there tho without checking on the patient . I went in last year too to get checked for blood clots and they never did any CT scans just routine blood work they said they didn't have anyone to do the CT scan , mind you ppl were getting CT scans I had to go to a different er and they did what was needed . The doctor this time was nice and seemed like his hands were full .. no other hospital I've been too had ever been this bad . I heard ppl waite up to 9 hours . I'm not sure who is incharge but this hospital should be prepared for the influx of sick and injured ppl and the bed side manner is awful . They have plenty of room and the nurse that gave me my paper at the end for release , she was not even checking who was being released and had to get up to go ask and her attitude was one were she didn't want to be there , like she was put out because I asked her for my paper work , like thats your job . The other nurse that released me out of the room is normally suppose to give me the paperwork i had seen her walk by my room 3 hours peior back and forth but didnt say anything to me .. I get it that it probably not a happy place . But don't work in medical field if your just going to get on your phone and have ppl leave that don't need to be there and make room for others . Whole system is whack . It was that way even before covid too . They have never gotten better read more

This is for the occupational department. This would be a 1 star, but the 2nd star is for some of the good nurses there. The 1 star is for how bad this place is when needing to schedule an appointment or follow up with the doctors. Alicia at the front desk of occupational is beyond unprofessional. She always has an attitude when I tell her that I had to hang up and call back because I have been on hold for over 10 minutes. This has happened to me many times in the past year, with her only. Today, she hung up on me in the middle of me asking a second question. No kind of professionalism at all. She needs to treat people on the phone as she treats people in person. We're all dealing with a medical problem, and no way in hell we should have to deal with that kind of attitude to be able to proceed to the next step. A system definitely needs to be put in place to be able to handle phone calls and in person appointments. I can not say enough good things about this hospital. We live 2.5 hrs away, there are 3 Delievery hospitals that is near where I live however I chose this one to go to despite the increased gas prices. DR Jose de la mota is the doctor that was recommended by my coworker who also loves near me. I'm a first time mom and choosing the right doctor is so important. I need to feel safe with my first birthing experience with the right doctor and the right hospital. Dr de la mota is so kind, knowledgeable and patient. Since I live far they are able to answer my questions via chat. Ms Traci Hite is also super helpful, she was knowledgeable and wasn't pushy neither Every single apt they were able to see us within 10 min. The hospital is so clean; all of their equipments are brand new and they have more resources than most hospitals in CA in case worst comes to worst. Hospitals are never fun, but I love this hospital and their staffs so much. read more

Nothing happened, just FYI. I was told there's nothing anyone can do, and to take it up with my insurance company. The "committee" has spoken. I appreciate the fact that the people at the customer service and interaction level want to make sure their patients are happy, it's the soulless suits in the board room who don't care. From start to (hopefully) finish, this total disaster has cost me $2,971.50. That's nothing to a giant monolith like Sharp, but it's EVERYTHING to me. They injured me, and I get to pay $3k for the honor. I asked about appealing and was told to file a grievance with my insurance company. Which I did. Not expecting much as they're a giant soulless monolith as well. Same old suits at the table, deciding who gets treatment and who doesn't. Who gets to pay $3k for being injured three months before Christmas. REALLY LOW. I trusted this group for a long time. Never again. read more

I called the local number to schedule an appointment for my daughter the operator who name is Liz was very helpful at first but when i stated asking her for other dates and time under her breath she said "OH GOD" as to be irritated to do her job. If I'm not mistaken her job is customer service and schedule my appointment. I don't understand if you're going to be annoyed by me asking questions than go look for another job if you're that miserable there. Simple as that. I really hope that those calls are monitor and that someone who is higher up talks to her. read more

I needed the MenB and the HPV immunization to attend my university. I made my appointment (took maybe 30 minutes) and receive an egregious bill for $1,148? I check my statements: Immunization: $82.00 Immunization: $43.00 CHARGES: $605.00 CHARGES: 458.00 This is absolutely disgusting, even my insurance is confused as to WHAT could have caused this and is refusing to pay. What are these charges for? What warranted the $1000+ up charge? The billing department has been useless. This doctors office will push for unnecessary follow-up visits, are not upfront about billing, and give the absolute bare minimum. If you like being scammed then this is the place for you. read more

Sharp Weight Management used to be a wonderful place filled with wonderful people. Sadly, the keywords are used to be! They are now disconnected, expensive, uninterested, and uncaring. I started the shake program because I want the gastric sleeve. Dr. J said if you take the shake program for 6 months, we will refer you. They have you plugged into a new system where they monitor you. Weight, water, exercise & blood pressure in both Phase 1 and Phase 2. No personal contact except for 45 minutes once a week over zoom where you are mixed in with approx. 20 people. The management has become disinterested and is in dire need of fresh blood. Their idea of weight loss is charging the patient approx. $360.00 every two weeks for their shake program (4 boxes of shakes, entrees, and benefit bars) Autopay every two weeks plus service fee. How many people can afford $360.00 every two weeks plus an additional $200.00 for medication that did not work? It took about 3 weeks before I could not afford the amount of money they were charging. I had to move to Phase 2 but kept doing the shakes. The only extra thing that I added was a banana. I talked to Dr. B and was told that because I moved to Phase 2, they would not refer me for a gastric sleeve consultation. I only added a banana, and I bought my food and shakes weekly, putting everything on a credit card so that I could at least get the consultation. They do not care about patient needs, and when you voice your concerns, you are met with the Department head giving a lackluster reason. Collecting the patient's fees was taking up too much time for her Business Associates when they had other important duties to do. This is a program that has been going on for 25 years and the patient paid every week. I thought Sharp always puts the patient first. If you don't have patients, what do you have? With the number of patients needing to lose weight, their idea of helping is putting people on Qsymia which is phentermine and topiramate, and then when it works, they take you off of it. or Contrave which in some cases causes horrible hives all over your body. Do you think they cared? No! they did not. They moved right on to offering another drug which was injections and was thousands of dollars and not covered by insurance. What they did care about was that they did not have to refer me for a consultation. A consultation people! Not even the surgery, just a consultation! Nope! No way! They would not do it. This was not my first time trying. This is like my 3rd time trying! Please hold onto your money and steer clear of Sharp Weight Management. They don't care about the patient! Oh and don't worry Paula, Dr. J and Dr. B-I will NEVER step foot in your arena again. But what I will do is share with people how you treated me. I will stop people on the street. I usually get my care through sharp and I'm always satisfied. In fact I don't even usually leave reviews but I think I need to put this out there. First of all Dr.Follsom I think was his name came off a little racist saying I was Hispanic based off my first name. And I'm actually not I am Native American. I was able to just giggle and ignore it. I had voiced to him I was unhappy with my prior doctors visit because had they did an ultrasound I would have never gone into the ER and he agreed. But literally did the same thing, how are you feeling? "Yeah if you want to go ahead and get on this again I can't do it you have to go to another doctors. Take care thanks for coming in." Are you fucking kidding me? I just told you I still have pain I'm still having issues. But what? Is it because my insurance is for poor people that you can't help me? Anyways, besides this place. I use the Pharmacy monthly for prescriptions i can't have filled at my local pharmacy. Regulary I'll request a refill on a Monday and day after day I'll be told it should be ready "tomorrow", then finally 4 days later I'll get a call that it's ready, sometimes even wait until the next week. Today they told me it was processed yesterday, yesterday they told me it was processed the previous day, they literally lie, intentionally or not. read more

I'm not a fan of this hospital at all. 1. They have a parking garage, which always seems to have spots available, but the travel lane and parking spots are so tight that it can easily create anxiety. They give you the first hour free, but it's $3 after that. 2. My PCP there is never on time. On my last visit before I fired him, his nurse said there was an issue with the parking garage and a lot of people weren't showing up and I could come at any time. I got there 50 minutes early and ended up waiting for 65 minutes to be seen. Un-effing-believable. 3. The only reason they're getting two stars is because they have a lab and pharmacy on site. Otherwise, my family is switching to Kaiser ASAP. read more

This used to be a Sharp Community office. It was easy to get an appt, sometimes same day. Now, it takes forever, and you have to use their cumbersome systems. They say go ahead and email your doctor, and then tell you to make an appointment, they can't respond to the email. They won't communicate directly to your regular email address, but insist on using their crappy communication system with their bad phone ap. They're inconcistent on how they respond - sometimes with an email, sometimes with a text. And the parking deck is from hell. They can take their Rees-Stealey high and mighty attitude and poor systems and shove it! read more

I'm so sad I have to write this review, because my primary doctor is amazing and the reason I continue to go here. I went into the ER tonight and was so disappointed. They were extremely busy but with my symptoms, they let me in right away. A few things.. 1. I never even saw my doctor until after my CT's. They were very busy tonight but I was never asked if I needed anything or assistance. Nothing at all. They don't have walls here so after about 40 minutes, I heard "My full name can get ready for discharge." to someone she must of been training. I'm not kidding when I say an hour later she comes in. I was getting impatient but I was more concerned for the other 100 patients that could of been using my spot! 2. Like I said they don't have walls, the things I heard some nurses say about their patients to other nurses broke my heart. I barely heard any medical talk at all, just making fun of people and some of the patients stories and how they got there.. I would never talk like that about anyone and to find out it was nurses doctors, made me sick. We are suppose to feel safe around them.. did I mention two of them told each other how hungover they were. 3. I changed my address a few months ago when I moved. When I came in earlier this year, it was still my old address. Tonight it was my old address and a nurse and the registration desk changed it. When I got my papers at the end, it was the old address and my emergency contact nights were still wrong as I've changed them more than once. I truly feel you don't need to have a degree to work here. Nurses were immature and I felt the doctors information wasn't correct and she didn't even give me reassurance and I wasn't even told follow up care or anything at all. And I have to pay for this awful experience, if they even get my address right. I'm so sad this happened because I loved my primary doctor. But after this I will not be returning and I pray for other people's sake and health to listen to this post. read more

I don't know what the deal is with their pharmacy operations. Do they just not give a sh**? Once again I'm stranded without mediation. I asked very explicitly to have my medication mailed out last Tuesday and the moron who took my request allows that to go in one ear and out the other. Now I have to wait another two days for this to get mailed out. I could go there myself and pick it up but I'm pretty sure I'd end up cussing out their employees. This has happened on two other occasions and this is beyond infuriating at this point. I've also been on the phone with their incompetent employee another time for close two hours trying figure out why my insurance wasn't covering my meds when it clearly should! Come to find out, it was a clerical error that they made. I was livid! Between this location and the one in Kearny Mesa, I'm absolutely convinced that their pharmacy employees do not f'ing care! read more

Dr. Perkins (neurologist) was one of the worst doctors I have ever seen. Being a new patient with a new medical condition I was looking to learn more information about (seizures), he could not have been more uncooperative, unhelpful, or unsympathetic in a time when I was obviously looking for answers and understanding a new condition. At my appointment, he was very indirect with providing me any answers to my questions. He asked for multiple tests to be done, and when I asked if I should make a follow up appointment once the tests were complete, he said there was no reason to do so and to just make a follow up appointment for 3 months later. I had to repeatedly contact his office to receive information about my test results, rather than him calling me. Finally, I was the one who had to question if I should go on medication once the test results were in. If I hadn't asked, I'm sure he wouldn't have bothered prescribing anything until my follow up appointment 3 months later. Really great at treating his patient's health concerns, right? In addition, I constantly received really poorly written email correspondence from him that made no sense at all. For instance, I received this as part of one of my messages: "The still want me to fill it out because her going to ask what the levels are later also if you have started taking the medication." Obviously, this sentence makes no sense--I constantly received emails with this really incomprehensible language, which was extremely unprofessional and unhelpful. read more

Unprofessional staff, I scheduled my appointment there and they would call me every day rescheduling my apt 4 times different location And i was flexible and ok because i just want to be seen, no communication between staff, someone calls me for information and after a while someone else calls me asking for same information, and finally the day of the appointment they calls me at 7 am in the morning telling me that we have to reschedule your appointment and when i told her that this is inappropriate and you guys keeps rescheduling my appointment and i need to see someone today because i already changed my work schedule as I'm a nurse, she would say they will call you to reschedule and hung up,so inappropriate and very rude. read more

I had stopped in here to get a flu shot and get something looked at. I know the wait cannot always be so short but I was quite impressed. I walked in and was seen within 10 minutes. The nursing and Dr staff listened to what i had to say, quickly addressed my concerns and promptly gave me my flu shot. I was really happy as I had other things to do that night. I have been coming here for years. I was briefly with another medical group, so I can make a valid comparison. Staff is always fantastic! I am always treated with care and concern. People here seem to love their jobs. I feel that I am more than a number to them. Different departments all seem to be on the same page in accommodating and caring for their patients to the best of their ability. Another medical group that I was with briefly made me feel like I was just a number - they were cheap, but so was their service. I always look forward to seeing Dave on the 4th floor who has been there for years and ALWAYS makes me smile no matter how poorly I may be feeling, as well as going the extra mile for me and everyone else! read more

This review is updated. I talked to Anna and she was extremely helpful in rectifying the issues that I've been having. She was nice to talk with! This is for the financial department alone. The worst financial company to deal with. I called them last week to stop automatic payments because Lewis Hawley is in a nursing home (self pay) and every single penny is going to the home plus medications. So they cancel it and lo and behold send all the outstanding bills to the Nursing home (Jacob Healthcare Center) as if the nursing home can pay this stuff. I'm in charge of all the finances for him not them. So I get a missed call from them this morning when I was asleep at 8 am and I try to call back many times to no avail. All the recording says is we can't get back to you because we have people in training now and go to our website *sigh* I've dealt with so many financial issues with this company throughout the years. read more

This review is for only the Urgent Care at Sharp Rees Stealy La Mesa. Although I have been to this Urgent Care for other reasons, I REALLY appreciate how they attend to me when I have a UTI. Recently, I knew I had one of these suckers again, so I made a trip in. I have had trouble with UTIs since I was a teenager, and so I know the signs. I also know how fast UTIs can progress into a kidney infection for me. If I don't get treatment as soon as I get UTI symptoms, I can end up hospitalized. Not fun. This is the only Sharp Urgent Care location I have gone to in the past 10 years. No matter where I have lived in the county, I am so impressed by how I am treated here, I always return to this location. The staff, nurses, and docs hear me out and look up my medical record to see my history. They respect my privacy and don't insist on uncomfortable exams or ask me strange questions. They are polite, prompt, and efficient and I'M OUT OF THERE in no time! Prescription send to the 24-hour CVS! No unnecessary drama! I recently started posting more reviews on Yelp, and I definitely think it's high time for me to commend this place. read more

This Sharp Rees-Stealy location is pretty average. I've been coming here since I initially started working for the county and it's never really improved in terms of renovations. The parking garage used to be dedicated for use to just the medical building and they moved the ED for the hospital and opened up the parking to them as well, which is really a nightmare when you're trying to get to an appointment. If that's not bad enough, they then decided to make the entire lower level+ of the parking structure dedicated to doctors parking only. If I'm bringing my kid to a routine checkup I will just park across the street at the mall to avoid the nightmare of dealing with elderly people who don't know how to drive or park, but when you're trying to bring a sick child in for an appointment it's difficult and really aggravating. Thanks so very much to the morons who decided to change a parking situation that worked so much better and turn it into a typical Sharp Grossmont clusterfuck. I used to use the pharmacy here exclusively until they changed the parking situation and I had switch to a regular pharmacy because I wasted so much time finding parking that I ended up paying for parking on top of my copayments, making it a loser. It's too bad because the service was pretty good most of the time. read more

I love coming to this clinic because my doctor is amazing. I have seen her and an awesome nurse practitioner when she isn't available for a little over a year and I'm always content with the treatment and helpful knowledge I receive after each visit. I feel they are caring and also good at making sure I don't worry about what will happen. The Follow My Health app is an easy way to reach out to them as necessary and they're very responsive and can be and quick to respond as a couple hours. The one thing I can't stand about the facility itself is the parking structure. It is a nightmare how tight the turns are and how cramped the spaces are. It can feel scary turning corners and hoping everyone is being careful as well. I hate the parking structure, but I love the doctors and treatment. read more

Great experience with the doctors! The lab is a nightmare and I'm severely disappointed that all snack shops on site and full of junk food. For a Hospital I feel it's important to set a good example for their customers... when you sell powdered donuts and cinnamon rolls, you're setting a terrible example that it's ok to eat that type of food. Even the free coffee has creamers that have an ingredient list longer than 25 words! Perhaps they sell this to keep their customers coming back? Either way, it's 2018 and they need to fix this!!! read more

Completely unprofessional, wasteful and scattered ....disoriented and poor communication amongst staff, unkind, leaving no options for care just their terrible recommendation which by the way I am allergic to. Had I not been paying attention I would have been on the floor flopping around biting my tongue in their urgent care where I came to PREVENT the seizure Here at Sharp Grossmont they are capable of such severe negligence that even tho it's in my limited and short lived file - they nearly gave me the one thing i can't have . If I ever get out here I'm never coming back I'd rather die choking on my own vomit than deal with this again. read more

This was the first time I used the urgent care, rather than the ER. My issue needed to be looked at and taken care of, but didn't need the full-blown ER show. The front office was super-efficient at getting me checked in - which is even more surprising, considering they were closing in less than an hour. I waited no more than twenty minutes (on a Friday night!). The nurse that did the initial evaluation was also super-efficient, and very pleasant, as was the Doctor. I was treated and on my way in right around an hour. Nice to have this clinic as an option to the ER, should the situation warrants it. read more

Update: the patient rep has been in contact me (after having to call her several times) and was curteous in looking into what happened with our son. Be forewarned about this ER. They do not hire their own doctors but rather contract out to the third party....what this means is that the cost of the doctor is NOT COVERED BY INSURANCE. Even if you have sharp health (which we do) you will be paying your copay and an additional 300$+ for a "physicians fee".....basically you're better off going to a non- Sharp ER. We are considering leaving Sharp insurance at this point read more

My spouse had an elective procedure at a different local hospital that went smoothly. He was brought him home the next day. 6 days post-operatively he had a complication unrelated to the original procedure. The EMT's insisted he be taken to the closest hospital (which was Sharp Grossmont). This was the most miserable experience of our lives. I will not disparage the competency of the staff-they were caring and attentive. My complaint was the total lack of communication between staff and the patient's family. This is an administrative/executive failure at its worse. read more

I am not going to post about why I was there... I am focusing this review on the people behind the care for many of us who are too busy from Monday to Friday to see our primary care doctors. From the moment I was in line to check in, the experience felt comforting. A gentle greeting goes a long way. The wait time is never on the staff, they can't control how many patients they will have. Bring electronics or a book to pass the time. My nurse was in one word "Genuine". She didn't just take my weight (ugh) and blood pressure, she asked other questions and made me laugh when I said I was too busy to come in sooner. My attending doctor was also very nice and caring. Best experience in an urgent care in years. Unfortunately for me I was back in again the yesterday. Different check in person - SAME great service! I couldn't believe it. I couldn't be this lucky. Friendly and empathetic. My nurse by sheer coincidence was the same from last week. SHE ROCKS! Honestly if I was in the healthcare industry I would recruit her OR invest in understanding how and why she does her job so well. I had a different doctor and can I say he was OUTSTANDING. Attentive, active listening and his best guess didn't sound like he read it out of google. My X-ray tech guy was pretty awesome too. People are already down on their luck coming in. Thank you to all of you for finding a way to make us smile and feel comforted in a difficult time. APPRECIATE all you do. This Sharp Rees Stealy location has been the best location so far for me and my family. I was previously going to the Carmel Valle clinic for myself and for my daughter, but I wasn't a huge fan of the small facility and the lack of an urgent care. Since moving down to Central San Diego, the Grossmont Center Drive location has served all my needs. Our pediatrician is in the 5th floor, my primary doctor is on the 4th floor, and this year for my pregnancy my OB doctor was on the 3rd floor. I can get all my appointments in the same building, so I never have to drive to different locations for each visit. If I have an emergency, urgent care is even in the same building. Whenever I need medical attention it's great to know I can just go to one location. read more

I want to thank Bettye from the Urgent Care. I had been seen there a couple months ago, and had previously submitted some paperwork that needed to be completed by the doctor. The initial paperwork was somehow lost, but with Bettye's help today I was able to get a new set completed and signed. She was very friendly, super helpful, kept me informed and got the job done amazingly fast. I know that it's flu season, and the Urgent Care and the Emergency Departments are really busy, so I am extra appreciative. Thanks for going above and beyond to help me. After moving a year ago we found Dr. Hardisty and had several office visits throughout the year for my two children. The last visit we attended she actually asked me if she had ever seen us before this appointment. How awful! I need to know my children's pediatrician takes the time to at least review the chart prior to coming into the room. On top of that she insists parent training at every visit because I choose to allow my n yet two year old to still use a pacifier. He was breastfed until 3 months prior to the visit and the pacifier has helped a great deal with the transition. I am an educated healthcare professional myself and work with kids. She doesn't take the time to listen and makes quick assumptions. I would not recommend this provider to anyone. read more
