Oh dear God, I never realized I had it GOOD with Kaiser. Was on the phone 40 min to find out I had to go to urgent care. Even getting there when they opened I was 10th in line. The parking structure is a death trap with nowhere for pedestrians to walk except where cars are trying to get by a blind curve with barely enough space. And after being kept there for well over an hour I had to actually PAY for the experience. I have never had such a ridiculous experience at any healthcare facility. The people were nice and all, but the system is so so soooooo crappy. And the parking structure is an atrocity. So. Damn. Angry. read more

I liked them soooo much better when they were Grossmont Family Medical Group. Everything was so much easier!! I've visited three times and left twice LIVID and having to pay for parking for a visit that should have lasted no more than five minutes!! The staff even seemed frustrated. It makes no sense to have a patient wait 45 min while a very qualified individual has to track down a nurse to sign off on their ability to set up an injection! Let me be 45 min late and I wouldn't have been seen but it's okay to have the patient waste their time sitting around waiting?? A day before my last visit, I received a call because they needed to reschedule my appt. Why?? Because the person that scheduled the appt scheduled me during their lunch. WHAT??? I probably should have let my wife write this review, but whatevs. Let's keep with full disclosure by saying that my review is probably not fair, since I don't have any particular need for a gynecologist. I DO, however, come here often for the pediatrician (for my daughter, you weirdo). Let me start by saying that parking in this place is awful. It's about as much fun as watching a kung-fu movie with terrible English dubbing. Scratch that, that's actually kind of awesome. It's about as fun as ripping off a band-aid that was krazy glued on from someplace that's covered in hair. You probably get the point. Anyway, add to it that most places here only validate for an hour, and you're likely to be here longer, and you've already started off in a bad mood - it gets better. The single most traumatizing thing that's happened to me in my adult life happened here - watching my daughter get shots makes me want to cry as bad as she does. There's no describing how disgusted you feel when your wee one gets that first shot and you see here look at you like "How could you do this to me?!" I'll never forget it. It's not one of those Kodak moments. In all seriousness, Dr. Hardesty is good people. She's pretty forthcoming with information and doesn't really argue if we've got a plan for the little one's development that deviates from what she might normally do (knowing full well that we educated ourselves with the trusty internet). I'd recommend her as a pediatrician. As an added bonus, you can console yourself after the parking and shots experience at Hooley's around the corner. They sell Kilkenny. That stuff's awesome. Calling Nurses Connection through Sharp after hours saved me from an evening of anxiety. Tina was so helpful, caring, and genuinely concerned about my needs. I was able to get a prescription that evening instead of having to wait until the following morning. She even called next day to check on how I was doing. Thanks Sharp for being there in my hour of need. This is one phone number that I will keep handy. And while I am giving credit where credit is due, the two times that I had a doctor's appointment everything went smoothly with a minimal wait. If you don't want to chance having a long waiting time schedule first thing in the morning or after lunch. read more

I've Been in contact with my doctor for about 4 weeks now regarding a sore throat that won't go away. I had several courses of antibiotics just for it to return. I got concerned because my sore throat came back, worst, now will red spots on my throat and tonsil. I made an appointment to be seen but had to settle for a different doctor. I saw Dr. Amberg, he was dismissive of my concerns and my step test came back negative. I had to suggest a throat culture. He told me he would call me Friday with the results, he never called. Still have not received a phone call. I have the option of switching my insurance to Kaiser, I'm going to take it. I am so over being treated poorly by these doctors. read more

I am INCREDIBLY happy with the care my children have received with Dr. Eric Reed at Sharp Rees-Stealy in La Mesa!!! My daughter (first born) Capri was colicky as an infant and as a first time mom, I was concerned with everything! Whenever I had a concern, Dr. Reed was so patient, caring and would give me the best advice on how to care for Capri. He took the time out of his busy schedule to even call and see how she was doing. Capri had difficulty gaining weight so Dr. Reed made sure she was coming in frequently for weight assessments as well. When my second was born, he was born 4 weeks early and had jaundice. We unfortunately had to return to the hospital a week after he was born for treatments, but Dr. Reed made sure I was going to be in the room staying with my newborn. Our time in the hospital fell over a weekend and Dr. Reed even came in to check on us on a Sunday morning!!! That means a lot to me especially that he came on his day off! I can't speak high enough of Dr. Reed. If you are thinking about which pediatrician to choose for your newborn, or if you are feeling like your children aren't receiving the care and attention they deserve, then I HIGHLY recommend Dr. Reed! I never feel rushed or not cared for! He is very intelligent and will spend the time with you to go over any needs or concerns that you may have about your children! read more

Apparently my past experiences visiting an urgent care has been brutal because my visit to this location was like a walk in the park. First of all, the reception desk, slash "greeter" was a true happy person. She was like a ray of light, so happy to help me. I didn't have to fill out any new patient paperwork, she asked and typed everything that they needed all right then and there. I had 4 patients ahead of me in the waiting room, and within 12 minutes, I heard my name called. This nurse practitioner was also so kind and helpful, not rushed or grumpy. Finally, the doctor came in to introduce himself and get to the diagnosis. Also a cheery guy!!! Where did all these happy medical professionals come from? I thought they were all supposed to treat us like a number and be uptight!? Not here!!! Doc kindly sent me home with a prescription for strep and bronchitis. Best part, I was in and out in under an hour, and didn't even have to pay $3 for parking. If you're sick, and in a pickle, especially on a weekend morning, go to this Urgent Care!!! read more

I had to bring my four year old to the Urgent Care for a bad ear infection. She was crying and moaning during the entire hour wait. I also had my two year old with me, which was even hard to keep him occupied while tending to my daughter. The staff were friendly, but if I were to run a company like this, little kids would get priority. Several adults nearby even said that she should have been bumped ahead of them because they are able to be patient and wait. So for them, I would give two stars. I also had to see the neurologist in the same building the week prior and was given excellent customer care and service. I would have given him and his staff four stars... but for the overall review... I'll split the difference. Oh, and they sent my four year old a survey of how they performed. It was addressed to her, so I let her fill it out and mail it back in the prepaid envelope. She draws beautiful flowers. read more

Unfortunately, I have visited this urgent care on more than one occassion, but fortunately for me I have never had a problem wiht the care I received. Recently I came here after being far too sick for far too long and I will say that the experience was as good as can be expected when you need to go to urgent care. I walked in around 3:30 afternoon and luckily there was no line. Unlucky for me, I also had no voice. The check-in staff was very nice and did there best to make sure I hasd to talk as little as possible. I only waited about 15 minutes before the nurse called me back and took my vitals. Dr. Lee helped me, and he was fantastic. Very informative, caring, and kind. In total I was in and out of there in less than an hour, which I deem pretty great for walking in without any type of appointment. When I used to go to other urgent care departments, it would take hours before I was out the door. My only negative about the whole experience is having to pay for parking. When you feel that bad it's far more annoying than usual. read more

SRS La Mesa has been my healthcare provider for my entire life - and for good reason. They have a great team, from patient services to physicians. Anyone is willing to help and answer questions. Doctors are kind, treat you with respect, and really care about your concerns. Wait times are not too bad either, I use the convenient kiosk to sign in and get to my appointment quickly. This review is long overdue for Dr J Lowery at the family practice La Mesa Rees Stealy. To say she is a great doctor is under emphasizing her talents. My whole family has seen her over the years, and when we were transferred to her care from a doctor that we loved but whom was moving into a different medical discipline (Dr Margaret Elizondo - another amazing family practice physician that delivered our first child 20 years ago) we were very concerned we wouldn't find someone as loving and caring. I am thankful to say I was WRONG!! Dr Lowery is approachable, adorable, easy to talk to, down to earth, relates to you as if she were a family member yet speaks with authority and concern about ones health issues. She is uber-smart but talks at a level that anyone can understand. Thank you for being amazing Dr Lowery. We really LOVE the care you have given us and are so grateful for your God-given talents that you share show energetically. read more

Let me start off by saying I'm not a big fan of hospitals. I personally think the hospital system in America is horrible and stupid. The reason I never go to ERs because I don't think I should have to wait behind a person who is suffering from a "cold" just to get medical treatment for my chronic condition. This is a huge reason why I always try my best to go to Urgent care for my needs. Sharp Urgent care is one of the best urgent cares in East County, every time I've come here I've been met by friendly staff that seems generally concerned about getting me checked in quickly and letting me understand how long my wait is. They constantly ask me if there is anything they can do for me while I am waiting. I've came here for several conditions, I won't go into deep detail about them. But every time the nurse and doctor have met my needs of making sure I received the correct treatment before I leave. I would advise people to avoid Sharp Grossmont Hospital ER however, that place is freaking horrid. read more

Am a transfer from Partners HealthCare in LB/LosAl as I recently moved. Here is my experience so far with Sharp-Rees. First, I originally was supposed to be with Sharp Rees Otay Ranch w Dr. Greene. After already being accepted, was told he was no longer accepting new patients. So transferred me to Sharp Rees-Stealy in La Mesa. Was not a major inconvenience, other than I'm not sold on the Grossmont facility yet. Have an ongoing L4-L5-S1 disc issue that requires spine clinic referral. Had to get in ASAP and pain management is an issue as well. Tried to see my new assigned Primary (Dr. Levey). 3.5 weeks out. Ugh! So saw his PA Sean Lynch. Impressed with new patient check-in and the courtesy of the front desk staff. Also impressed with Sean Lynch. Seems like a solid PA who cares for his patients. Since then though...have had real troubles. And my understanding from friends is that this is where Sharp Rees-Stealy in particular falls woefully short. I am on a "hot" referral to the spine clinic. It's been three days and I haven't even heard back from the clinic so I can get an appt. My understanding is that to see specialists, it's an issue. So I have at least tried to call my Primary to see if he can re-up some pain meds, because the sciatica is making me crawl out of my skin. Can't even get to someone in the Primary Physician's office in order to get a prescription ordered. Run out this weekend so understandably a bit worried about this as the pain is like having your left leg catch on fire down to below the knee. So... after 72 hours I haven't even received a call to get an appt with a hot referral on a spnie specialist....and I'm out of pain meds this weekend. I have placed a call with the spine clinic and the PA who referred me. Looks like I'll have to spend my Saturday morning in an Urgent Care in order to get a Torodol shot to the back and a prescription to manage pain. So far, initially I would say that I have received much greater attention and communication through Partners (Long Beach/Los Alamitos). I will work with Sharp Rees-Stealy for about two months or so, before I go looking elsewhere. And will update this post as warranted. Stay tuned! read more

Wow!. I am reading these negative reviews and it makes me wonder if these people are talking about the same place I visited. I had outpatient surgery today and I was astonished and delighted at the professionalism of everyone I encountered in my five hour stay. Dr. Mazer is wonderful of course. I already knew that as he has seen me several times. What was terrific was the entire staff. My check-in person was wonderful. My nurses went out of their way to inform me and make me as comfortable as possible. My anesthesiologist had a great sense of humor and put me completely at ease. The OR looked like something out of NASA and everyone was incredible professional and went WAY out of their way to put me at ease. Surgery is scary no matter what the procedure and the people at Sharp Surgery Center, from the receptionist to the recovery room nurse were simply wonderful to me and my family. Dr. Leslie Gray and Nurse Practioner Sharon Hunkins are the world's best! I had one baby ten months ago and now I'm due again with my second baby in a few months. I ended up extremly sick with my first baby and Dr. Gray and Sharon were on top of my care and beyond considerate the entire time. Now, every time I go in for check-ups with this baby, they give me thorough care and such warmth. Sharon Hunkins is to the point with the best sense of humor. Dr. Gray is loving and also a straight shooter. I don't know what I would do without them as my caregiver. Also, Dr. Harari was the doctor on-call that delivered my first baby and I have nothing but good things to say about him. He was sensitive, kind, funny and made the whole process easy. He even guided my husband through the delivery and that made my husband very comfortable. All in all.... I love you guys :) Tiffany F. read more

As a mom the biggest thing I think we all strive for is to have someone care about our children as much as we do. Dr. Hardisty is truly an amazing pediatrician. She listens to our needs, is very resourceful and provides great check ups. She was my 6 year olds pediatrician and when we had our baby, she was more than happy to take him as well. Unfortunately due to her loyal patient following I don't think she accepts new patients at this time. But if/when she does I think many will be please with her abilities as a physician as well as approachability. read more

um this asian nurse put a band aid on top of my ppd test LIKE UMMMM i didn't realize you aren't suppose to do that until i went to another doctors office in the same hospital and told me that they aren't supposed to do that, so if you ppd test here make sure they don't put a band aid on it (: UPDATE: i went back for my follow up to check for my ppb results, had me wait 30 minutes just for a nurse to pull up my sleeve and said "negative ok you can leave now" which took 5 seconds. this is room 601 in the urgent care building terrible service. the room they had me wait in for the doctor for my physical smelt like straight piss. this place needs to get there shit together. oh did i mention the hall also smells disgusting. never coming here again and nor should you. don't waste your time here. read more

Long wait time. Nurse told me 30 mins, I really had to use the restroom but was holding it because she said 30 mins. When I went to check again after 45 mins, they said ten more. Ended up waiting an hour and 20 minutes. I also had let them know I was becoming uncomfortable and has to use to the restroom, but didn't want to go because I needed it for my appointment. The doctors are good, but good luck getting an appointment. My experience has been you'll wait a minimum of 8 weeks to see a specialist. This does not include getting an appointment to see your primary care physician first as required. My referrals were obtained in March. The soonest specialist appointments were mid June. If you plan your injuries 3-6 months in advance you should be very pleased with Sharp Rees-Stealy. read more

If I had to do it over I would not have selected Grossmont. The care here is ridiculously lacking. Everything about my pregnancy has been a mess, confusing, or just an "I don't care attitude". The staff is seriously DUMB! Instance one, they wont tell you if you have a co pay at OBGYN (when I had knee surgery, that department wasn't as stupid). Case 2 scheduling, the dr tells me to schedule a sonogram with radiology, and I got a blank stare... Just now I had some rude person from some billing dept that I hung up on... Don't call me with an attitude because you had to work... Not the best review, but im annoyed. It is your job to bill me, not mine to tell you if I owe you... Insurance is extremely confusing, and hard to read, im the patient/customer. If I owe you money bill me, if I don't end of convo I don't need your attitude. Bottom line if you are given the choice pick a non La Mesa facility, steer clear of Rees Stealy La Mesa, and save yourself a lot of frustration. Everyone I know who went to the Kearny mesa location has nothing but good things to say. Unfortunately I have NOTHING good to say about La Mesa... Came in to have road rash wound inspected and possible tetanus shot or medication issued. Within three minutes of being submitted. I was transferred out of the urgent care over to ER to wait in line for six hours and get even worse service. No communication on what they were doing to for me. I have had nothing but AWFUL experiences at this hospital. From Urgent Care, Billing, Medical Records, and Women's Health. Where do I even begin? 1. I was grossly misdiagnosed by an urgent care physician. He saw me for what seemed like less than one minute, quickly lifted my shirt to see a rash, barely looked, and diagnosed me. Even the nurse working with him was shocked at his diagnosis. Thankfully it wasn't dangerous, but it definitely could have been. 2. I have been incorrectly billed/the billing department has just not sent my to bill my insurance, resulting in my having to pay the full price. I eventually got reimbursed, but had to wait months to get my money back from them. 3. In Women's Health: The doctors in this department are dismissive to my concerns and are really impersonal. I won't go into the details of my health situations, but I really did not feel I could rely my doctors-- and pregnancy is definitely the time you want to feel you have your health care providers "on your side." I will go to great lengths to avoid this hospital in the future. read more

Unfortunately, I have to echo what Holly said 1 month ago in another review. I came here for a drug test. They told me the wait would be 15 to 20 minutes. I waited 45 minutes and then complained. The woman at the front desk seemed put out to have to get out of her chair to check and see what's going on with the nursing staff. After another 10 minutes, they finally called me in for the drug test. Afterwards, I asked if it would have been possible to make an appointment to make this more efficient, and was told you can't make an appointment for a drug screening. I am going to recommend to the government agency I was tested for that they should find another place to do drug tests because this place obviously places drug screening at the lowest priority in their office. Also, the office is a generally depressing place to be in. The office is a little old and a little dirty and outdated. Obviously, I can't comment on the quality of the doctors. They may be great. This review is about the drug screening process, the waiting room environment, and the front desk procedures and communication. The one positive note is that the nurse who did the drug screening knew what she was doing. She actually seemed a little embarrassed that I had to wait so long and complain to get called in for the test. Maybe I was imagining that, but that was my perception. I get the feeling that the people who work here are good people, but the policies and procedures of the office are the problem. Overall, this was definitely a one star experience. read more

There are some wonderful people in the lab, x-ray, urgent care, and pediatrics departments, Unfortunately my experience with my primary care provider was one of the most unhappy experiences of my life. After arriving early as requested by the staff, I was forced to wait over an hour after my appointment time for the doctor on most occasions. They also don't listen and I was once contacted about the wrong body part. The parking garage is a fiasco of a poor design and it is difficult to both drive and park in. I would give zero stars based on my experience with the doctor, but I will give it two for the people that are trying hard and doing a great job. I often wrote notes to commend those that did great work. It's unfortunate to have had such an unpleasant experience. read more

Have had nothing but terrible problems with my Mothers Healthcare, 10 years ago I had a meeting with my Mothers Doctor Laura Hackett, she told me my Mother was very sick and in alot of pain. 10 years ago! Now at 80 and doing awesome now that we have her off of Opiates, YES they got her addicted to pain killers...which led to other problems Next problem last February she was admitted to Sharp Hospital for colitis, when admitted she all of a sudden she started losing her hearing, she told the nurse, I told the nurse, my two sisters told the nurses, for the 3 days we told the nurses, all the while they said they would address the issue.....never happened. They released her and told her to make an appt with ENT...she did soonest appt 6 weeks. ENT told her it was a virus and if it would have been treated when complained about she only would have lost 20% of her hearing...instead of 80% I have asked them to help out but they have refused....leaving this into some sort of legal remedy I asked for her records 2 months ago they said it would take 10 days max.......still no records......SO SHARP MY MOM IS GONNA HANG AROUND TO SEE THIS THROUGH SO YOU MAY AS WELL COUGH UP THE FILES!!!!!!!! No stars. The so called Sharp experience is a lie. I've been on STD since May 2015 my SRS PCP referred me to a pain specialist who tried one injection no improvement was to have done another but needed EDD updated specialist thought PCP should they thought specialist should as result no one is. Emailed SRS they were no help as sp is SRS. Additionally said I could files grievance with UHC an exercise in futility. They're worthless and I'm still in pain , broke and stressed. .update 3-4-15 ps don't bother seeking help with SRS patient advocates the don't give a rats ass about helping they wouldn't care to offer any real assistance. 03-11-15 again I advised don't bother with SRS patient advocates they are completely useless offering no real helpful solutions. read more

This place is huge. It can be a little bit of a claustrophobic mess trying to find parking sometimes. The spaces in the garage are a little narrow. If you're coming here, make sure to come at least 15-30 minutes early. It's easy to get lost here because they have so many different buildings and parking can be difficult. I went to the emergency room with a concussion. I have a Traumatic Brain Injury. They put me in a bed immediately. The doctors were all over it. I have a complicated medical history which frustrates a lot of doctors who don't like to read. They put my head in a stationary device, I was the next person in to the Cat scan, x-ray, a dozen little tests. I was sent home with instructions on what to do if I start feeling worse (911). The ER nurses called me every day for a week to see how I was doing because they knew I lived alone. read more

I've been to this place twice... and both times the physicians, nurses, receptionists have just been absolutely wonderful to me. The doctor (Dr. Caputo), herself called me after my appointment yesterday to update me with some lab results. I've worked for a couple of physicians before, and they never really took the time to call their own patients. So I was highly impressed that she would follow my case from start to finish like that instead of handing it off to one of her office staff. read more
