WARNING: DO NOT HIRE. Threatening Behavior and Double the Quoted Price. If you value your time, your money, and your mental health, stay as far away from Sharp Van Lines as possible. They left us stranded on moving day, failed to honor their own estimate, and the owner literally shouted threats at me on speakerphone. Here is exactly how they operate: --The Dishonored Quote: I received quotes from three different reps that were all close in price because it was their standard rate. I booked with Jessica and confirmed details over 10-15 emails. I understand a final cost can differ slightly, but they had my exact itemized list a week in advance and nothing changed on my end. They simply refused to honor their own estimate. --The Moving Day Disaster: They were scheduled for Sunday afternoon. They ghosted us until 2:00 PM despite my repeated calls. When they finally called, they said they were just coming over to check if our items would fit in a 16-foot truck--meaning they had no intention of actually moving us that day. They claimed they suddenly needed four people instead of three, and that it would take 7-8 hours instead of the planned 5. They forced us to push the move to Monday, upending our entire schedule and forcing me to take a last-minute day off work. --Unfair Overcharging: When they arrived on Monday (two hours late), the extra charges piled up. They charged for moving time, drive time, their own commute to my house, gas, tolls, materials, and flat-out double-counted labor and drive time. At the end of the day, the bill ended up costing more than double what was quoted. Threats and Intimidation: Once the truck arrived at the new house, they demanded cash. I did not hesitate to pay them; I was actively counting out the money to hand over, but I openly showed my disdain for the sudden price hike and mentioned that I would be taking action against this. The crew lead, Alex, immediately called his boss and explained my frustration in their own language. The boss then began screaming through Alex's phone on speaker, shouting directly at me and threatening to take all of our belongings back out of the house. Both their own movers and my home contractor witnessed this abusive behavior. --The Insulting Follow-Up: Later on, the boss called my phone directly--likely realizing he had completely crossed the line. He offered an insulting $50 discount as an "apology," as if this nightmare was just about a few dollars or a matter of charity. I flatly rejected it. To just get the situation over with, I de-escalated and played nice. I even tipped the movers because they were doing the heavy lifting, despite a few minor items getting broken. I am currently compiling all documentation, emails, and witness statements to pursue formal legal action against this company. Do not make the same mistake I did. I recently completed my move from Princeton (NJ) to Syracuse (NY) with the help of Sharp Van Lines. Overall, I was extremely satisfied with the service, which exceeded my expectations. I would definitely recommend considering Sharp Van Lines if you are planning a move. Below are some points that justify my positive feedback: 1) Polite and respectful communication: While searching for a moving service, I made dozens of calls to get the best quote. Unfortunately, not all of my conversations with the representatives were respectful or polite. Many chats with brokers, who are not the actual movers but act as intermediaries between clients and moving companies, were particularly frustrating. They tried to manipulate me, insisting I would never find a better deal and pressuring me to make a decision immediately. In contrast, it was a pleasure talking to Sharp Van Lines representatives. They were polite, explained their services in detail and never rushed me to make a decision. 2) No upfront deposit: Some companies I spoke with required a deposit of about 1/3 of the total moving cost before the move day. I assume this is in part to make it more difficult for clients to switch companies or cancel the service. I was genuinely surprised to learn that Sharp Van Lines does not require any upfront deposit. It was much more comfortable and reassuring to pay the total cost only after the service was fully completed. 3) Reasonable prices: As I mentioned earlier, I performed an extensive search and compared several cost estimates. Some of the bigger names in the industry quoted me prices that were nearly twice as high as Sharp Van Lines. Since moving services can be costly, saving money could be important consideration when planning a move. 4) Reliable and fast movers: I would like to express gratitude to my movers, Sergey and Andrei, who were true professionals. They fulfilled all my requests, answered all my questions and were very friendly. The packing, assembly and disassembly of furniture, transportation of boxes, and delivery of fragile items were all handled with care and reliability. They truly helped reduce the stress of the moving process. It would be hard for me to imagine better movers. In conclusion, I was very happy with the moving experience Sharp Van Lines provided. The Sharp team was terrific. Worked with Alex on the scheduling and pricing for a temporary move into a storage shed. The price was reasonable and they totally worked around my schedule. The crew they sent, led by Emil, were both extremely polite and hardworking. They finished on time and on budget. The kicker was then I had to clean out my old house. I had two of the local junk removal services come out to give me an estimate. They were both non-committal in terms of pricing. They both gave me a price ( $900.00 ) but it wasn't firm as it seemed as though there could be a couple of factors that could affect the pricing. I called up Alex on a whim seeing if per chance they did clean outs. He said they did, and quoted me $1,000.00 for the job. The hundred dollars seemed like a small additional expense for the piece of mind. I requested Emil's crew again and Alex said he would try to schedule it but couldn't make any guarantee. I understood, booked it and crossed my fingers. Once again I wasn't disappointed. Alex communicated with me in terms of arrival time and the crew they sent was once again Emil's. I had everything in contractor bags in one room and they took all the heavy stuff (furniture) throughout the house, from the basement to the third floor. Again, on time and on budget. Everyone on the team came through with flying color. I think this is only the third review I have ever written but this was such a good experience I felt compelled to. Overall move went well and fast - Less time than expected. I would hire them again. Being more realistic than idealistic, the move was more OK to Good (a bit of a stretch). A 5* Great rating would be seamless and really enjoyable. When was it ever? Move was city to another city about 13 miles. Spoke to Anthony, discussion mainly on the rate, no details on what to move but movers will wrap furnitures/send 15 boxes all included in price. I specifically asked to with a credit card and he said they accept them. 2 days before different guy texted asking for cash payments. Whie the company is based in 2721 Avenue U Madison, the actual movers were coming from Brooklyn NY - live close to Philly PA. Tolls not included. Furniture wraps was being charged. The actual movers are not from the company but appear to independent contractors. Once we were done, they forgot to put the mattress on one bed but was enough to deal with. Work table and single both from ikea were wobbly but can live with that altho I dont think both will stand another move. Lessons learned: as always, Moving is stressful And costs money. I recently moved about 3 miles from where I used to live. We packed up a 3B 2.5B with a finished basement. Sergei and his team were excellent. Very professional, kind and funny too! They were cognizant of the fact that my wife and I have a 9 month old and a dog. They worked around all of that, they weren't even loud. They had a quick meeting which I was a part of, the team of 4 introduced themselves and then they got straight to work. I've moved twice before and if I'm being honest, these guys were the most courteous, professional and warm men I've ever dealt with. They are also the first company that I've seen use a ramp that connected to the staircase, which made the movement of the bigger items even easier. Some company's refuse to disassemble baby cribs, remove TVs/ tv mounts and even disconnect washers and dryers - Sergei and his team did everything! I highly recommend using this company! Also, their prices were really good! They give different prices based on if you need them to pack or if you will pack on your own. I opted to pack sum stuff on my own and they sent 15 boxes (no additional cost). Their rate is flat and their bill shows clearly they he breakdown of where every dollar you spend-goes. 10/10!! read more

I received a call shortly after reaching out for service. The very polite representative said that their company was able to support my request which was less than 24 hours away. Sure enough, three gentleman showed up at my apartment (30 steps up to the third floor apartment) and they were very polite, very strong and very efficient on my watch. I was not completely sure what furniture I wanted to ship and what furniture I simply wanted to moved to a different room. They helped me to determine what would reasonable fit and said "YOUR COMMAND IS MY DEMAND!" I drove my car separately over the bridge and they quickly unloaded the truck, and they were very patient with my barking dog. They followed me back to my apartment with another load of spontaneous pieces of furniture and unloaded everything safe and sound. They even disconnected and reconnected my desktop computer better than it was to begin with. Nothing was too much to ask them. It means a lot to know that there is someone to call for the heavy lifting when you know you can't do it in your own. I would recommend Sharp Van lines in a heartbeat! I was generally satisfied with the service, but I would like to warn future customers about a few issues. In addition to the agreed fee, the following fees may be extra: - The toll to your house ($30) (I don't think the toll on the way to my house costs $30) - They use extra tape, boxes, and plastic wraps. These should be paid, of course, but they seemed a bit expensive to me. - Prepare your mattress by taking a mattress bag from u-haul or similar in advance. Otherwise, instead of using a mattress bag, they covered it with plastic wrap for half an hour and taped it on top. It would be better if they did not try to get the extra tape and a plastic wrap fee. -They take the payment from you when you move to the new house. They say two hours is enough for unloading, and they prepare an invoice and charge accordingly. Since it was my first move, I probably said two hours was expected, but the unloading was over in 1 hour. I paid an extra 1-hour fee for nothing. You can pay attention to this. If you want before you move, they send 15 extra small boxes to your home. You can talk and request it in advance. read more

This is the second time I have used a moving company in NYC. This company was not only prepared, but very professional. They walked me through the COI's and had all the proper paperwork in ahead of time so all building managements were ready. They arrived on time, they were very prepared, and were very polite. They even brought extra supplies incase something needed to be packed on site or incase you didnt have enought boxes. Something that was not addressed at all on the phone call or when planning the move. Also something that was very appreciated. The quote and estimate for the move were all well withing the timing that they help me invision so my expectatins we fully mannaged. The team didnt want help and were fully prepared and wanting to do the work themselves. The aditional supplies they brought and we ended up using was a little pricy for what few boxes we used, however it was purchased on site and I can understand a convience fee. Nothing that was aweful. Overall I would not only use them again. I would recomend to my friends. read more

They even disassembled key pieces of furniture and reassembled them perfectly in the new space. Let me start by saying the team who moved me and my roommates furniture was WONDERFUL and they were quick effective and really nice. That being said the company snuck in a BUNCH of fees that essentially doubled our quote. From having us pay the tolls for the truck to the tape they used when they wrapped the furniture to extra boxes the used to put our already packed things inside of, to an extra 2 hour fee for unloading. It moved our $620 for six hours quote fee to 1200 with tip. ESPECIALLY when moving within the same zip code. I paid because the movers did their job well and it's not their fault, but the company needs to be up front about their fees and added costs. Especially when they used my tape and extra boxes and still charged me for theirs. Sergei and his two men were extremely professional and helpful though and very kind. Very impressed and pleased by the service I received from Sharp Van Lines. Akhmat and his crew were terrific! They showed up on time calling and keeping me updated on their ETA, once there they made sure to be extra careful with all my belongings, they shrink wrapped them (even my laundry basket) to make sure it wouldn't get any markings or damage. They were super fast, very friendly and professional. They went the extra mile volunteering to take my bed frame apart that I was getting rid of, I greatly appreciated that. My past moving experiences have been stressful, but they made the whole moving experience stress free, pleasant and very quick. They were very careful with unloading everything and asking me where exactly I wanted everything placed or if I wanted them to move anything to make my unpacking easier. My experience with a Sharp Van Lines was absolutely phenomenal. Not only was Andy the first one to reach out once I put my online request, he answered any questions I had, and made me feel comfortable immediately. I had to make a last-minute change to the day I was moving, and they were able to somehow accommodate me. Once moving day came, Eric and his two friends were kind, polite, and pleasant and FAST! They estimated the job would be about 3 hours, and they finished it in 2 hours and 50 minutes with a lot of sweat! They were on a mission to get it done while making sure my possessions were handled with care and packed well. No one likes to move, and there are many shady companies out there that don't have any transparency when it comes to the fees. SCAMMERS!! please be careful and use movers that are professional. I was told one price of $575 and my move was less than 4 hours and paid way over $575.. they even add their own tip? And the only way for you pay them is with cash. And the best part is.. they couldn't even bring in my $850 sectional. Talked to Anthony about what happened.. he had me calling multiple people for some reason..very unprofessional. Man up and talk about your crew. Finally talked to Alex and he wouldn't even let me get one word out and he would talk over me to where I said to raise my voice. IF THIS ISNT A SIGN TO USE THEM IDK WHAT IS! So again if you are a female that is looking for movers do not use this so called company. They will do anything to get more money out of you. I recently used Sharp Van Lines for my move and I had a pretty good experience overall. The movers were really respectful and efficient, and they took great care of my stuff. They were also super helpful and accommodating throughout the whole process. However, there were a couple of things that could have been better. For one, I wasn't aware of all the costs involved in the move upfront, like fuel and packing fees. It would have been really helpful if the company had been more upfront about all the costs so I could have planned better. Another thing was that they were supposed to provide me with 15 free boxes, but they weren't able to in the end. Thankfully, they gave me a heads up beforehand so I was able to buy some on my own. They did give me a $20 discount on the boxes I bought, which was nice. Overall, I'd still recommend Sharp Van Lines for their great moving services and affordable pricing. read more

Emil, Andy, and Santos from Sharp Van Lines moved my entire house into a storage unit on Tuesday, November 28, 2023. They took better care of my stuff than I do. I'd boxed most things up, but the furniture was all them. These guys were FAST, impressively so. Everything was transported safely. These Gentlemen Kings of Tetris arranged it all and made it FIT into a single storage unit. Truly a sight to behold. The movers, the people I spoke to, and corresponded with at Sharp Van Lines were all on top of it. Quick email responses to quote request and questions in general. Excellent follow up. I've moved a lot. This is easily the least stressful moving day I've ever had. Next time, I'm going with Sharp. Movers aren't exactly a cheap service, but if you can swing it? TOTALLY WORTH IT.
