My repair came with a much needed mini lecture on how to properly care for my clippers moving forward I paid for the most expensive repair which involves newer upgraded blade, blade sharpening and some other stuff I don't recall. It was pricey but you definitely get what you pay for. My andis is borderline razor sharp, works better now then it did nearly 20 years ago. The only place I'll bring my shears and blades to for sharpening now! They have a super convenient pickup and drop off option and he was done with my service on the same day because I really needing my dog grooming blades and shears back so I could groom a dog the next day at my salon. The prices are more than fair and reasonable and they went above and beyond. Normally I try to clean my blades well before sending them to sharpening but I will admit that the last 6 months I've been very stressed and just haven't cleaned them as well once they dulled out and couldn't be used and they literally came back clean and brand new! I've never had a sharpening service clean the blades for me before so I'm super impressed. I'm glad I tried them out now, I had been wanting too for a clipper repair but I've had to hold off. I work at a veterinary hospital which uses clipper blades, scissors and assorted surgical cutting instruments on a daily basis, and I mean 24/7! We have utilized other sharpening services in the past throughout my many years of employment, but I think we can finally settle on Sharpening Tech as our official "go to" guys to handle all our dulling sharps issues! First of all, they offer pick up and delivery service for a nominal traveling fee, which is such a convenient time saver for me! Then, back at their shop, they systematically sharpen each and every blade back to their original working condition. If any blades are "toast" they are returned with the reasons that they are no longer useful such as being broken, missing teeth or too dull to be refurbished. Another plus, is that they also repair many brands of electric clippers that suddenly stop working or someone accidentally drops and brakes the housing. Whenever I call the shop to request a pick up, the friendly staff are always accommodating and try to make an effort to give us fast and efficient service. I took two pairs of scissors that I normally use for my sewing to this place last week. I walked in and put the scissors on the counter. The guy behind the counter, then looked at me and pointed to the scissors and asked me what are those? I looked at my scissors, and I said scissors, then he asked me again what are those and I said scissors. He then, in a rude manner pointed out that they were shears that the scissors that he's used to sharpening are for barbering, I didn't make a comment he he charged me $40 to repair two large pairs of shears this morning. I called to ask if they had my scissors ready. I then called the shop and I told them that I was going to come by get a refund and pick up my scissors. I went to the shop and in a minute he came out with my shears and in a plastic tote with my $40 I said to him, I said I was I got treatment the other day I came in I said if someone came in and held up the scissors and said I want you to sharpen these kangaroos what does it matter what you call them you're supposed to say yes ma'am, or yes sir. Don't waste your time talking to this deadbeat, he is probably not making enough money to pay his rent, but he doesn't need to take it out on customers. I was a good customer I overpaid to grab my shears sharpened so to add injury insult to injury. He took one of the pairs of scissors and started to walk back there and said I'm gonna make these dull since I was starting to work on him I didn't believe him I said for real I've got you on video saying that you're gonna do my scissors. He came right back out and I took my money and left. Don't waste your time with this business take your business elsewhere even if it's out of town, a customer is looking for service not to be lectured about what they're bringing in. What does it matter what the device is, he could see that they were shears, I'm gonna take my refund and take my husband to dinner tonight so again don't go to this sharpening business. I've been dealing with Ruben for a long time now. He DOES NOT STAND by his work. If he gets it right perfect but if he messed up he will turn you away like you have never done business with him. I have been using Ruben to sharpen my animal clipper blades for over 5 years. I clip dairy goats with these blades, the goats are usually dirty and dusty. He is the only clipper sharpener I have found who's blades will last me a whole season. I have even used Premier , and another company in Modesto and their blades came back sharp for 2 goats and then quit, then I ended up bringing them back to Ruben to fix their job. I will clip on average 20 full sized dairy goats with these blades 2 sets of #7FC 2 sets of #40 2 sets of #10 per season. They usually last the whole time! I am very disappointed but not in the quality of work since I didn't manage to get my scissors sharpened! I called ahead to make sure that I didn't need an appointment and was assured that I didn't. I traveled several miles out of my way, but when I got there the door was locked. There was one of those little signs on the door that says when they were returning, but one of the hands was broken off so I couldn't tell when! The hours were clearly posted on the door, and it was between 2:00 and 3:00, so they were probably not at lunch. I will not be going back. read more

Ruben stopped by at my work place, which was a few blocks away from his house, and I gave him blades and scissors to be sharpened, for over $150. After he was done, I marked them all with nail polish and left on a table to dry overnight, as well as SEPARATE newly sharpened tools from those I was still using. A few days later, I found out that some of his blades were as dull as before his sharpening. I have used Ruben about 3 times now. This last time I had 15 blades and 4 pairs of scissors. My 40 blade was on of the blades sharpened. After getting it back it would not stay on my clippers, my coworkers tried putting it on theirs and same thing. Blade would not lock. I spent over 120, so I am expecting everything to be working. I called him and explained the situation he said it was a bad spring in my clipper blade. Not sure where a spring is located in the blade? He told me to come in and bring the blade back to him, well I am working 6 days this week and do not have time, nor should I have to go to him for something that was not my mistake. When I told him it was working before he sharpened it and would hook on to the clippers fine, he got defensive and proceeded to argue with me. He told me to take apart an old blade to replace the spring again not sure what he means by this. He also said the spring weakens every time the blade gets sharpened. Still not an excuse my blade was fine before, why can't you take ownership in the fact you may have messed up, and offer to come and fix it. I will no longer use Ruben to sharpen my tools, and as much as I spent I am very upset with his customer service skills. read more

After my local guy in Santa Rosa retired and closed his shop, I tried using a different local sharpening person, but that ended up being a big mistake. My Lister large animal clipper blades (at about $55 per set) were ruined, or so I thought. Thankfully I found Ruben online. He was able to correct the blades that were sharpened incorrectly from the prior person. I have used Ruben numerous times for sharpening small (snap on) and large (Lister) blades that I use for horse clipping. He does a fantastic job, blades are very sharp, and well packaged when shipped to me. I use Ruben's mail service for all my blades since I am not local. I found him years ago in a state of desperation after I spent 150 dollars getting my grooming tools sharpened, only to get them back completely dull and not in working order. (I won't mention who sharpened them prior to Ruben, just to be nice.) Anyway, Ruben took my tools on and got them back in working order and sharper than when they came out of the package. I swear by his work and highly recommend you take your tools to him if you want the job done properly the first time. He is also amazing in the sense of honesty and integrity. I've been taking my clippers here for over a year now and I will never go anywhere else. The quality of work is always top notch and the prices are reasonable too. Ruben is always very friendly and remembers his customers which is nice. Depending on what you have done he'll even sometimes give you a deal. It's always consistent and he is quick to get your items done and returned to you in a timely fashion. With that being said my experience yesterday was one of the best I've ever received anywhere. I dropped off both of my clippers around noon on 9/1 to get sharpened. Around 4pm Ruben called to say they were done. I thought ok cool I'll pick them up tomorrow (9/2) because I don't work again till Saturday. I went about the rest of my day no problem. Then Ruben calls around 640pm (he closes at 5) and asks if I'm coming to pick them up because he was going to be closed on Friday (9/2) and he knows how much I need them for work. It was completely my fault that I didn't even read a sign he had posted about being closed. He then offers to wait for me to come and pick them up that night. What a life saver! I would have been screwed at work on Saturday if I didn't have my clippers (I'm a barber) The fact that he took the time to not only call again but then wait for me was truly amazing and a wonderful example of great customer service. He sharpened my salons stuff a week ago. Some of our blades wouldn't even go on our clippers. He immediately blamed our clippers, (they of course would go on before he touched them. and they wouldn't go on anyone's clippers) so apparently all of the salon's clippers are faulty. Gave us attitude, and wouldn't even come out to fix his mistake because "he didn't work that way" now a week later, my scissors just bend hair, doesn't even cut it, and my #7 blade doesn't work at all.
