I used to live a block away and found this place when it first opened nearly 15 years ago. Since moving down south, I still make the trip. Booking, canceling, and changing appointments are so easy--all online. The barbers/stylists are quite the mix. Some are permanent fixtures, while others come and go like any business. I recently found a new barber here, HENRY. He is phenomenal. Although I am nearly bald, I get a h/c about every 2 weeks, and I don't mind paying full price, given Henry's superb attention to detail. He makes me feel like I've had a spa day makeover! While other guys just buzzed my head and used a trimmer on the back (stylists can't use a straight razor, I've learned), Henry is an experienced, pro barber. He attends to the littlest of hairs, examining every angle of my head. He attends to my ears, brow, skin (always moisturizes my scalp), and uses a razor to make the neckline stellar. He wraps it up with a light aftershave thing that leaves me feeling refreshed! It's the details that set apart a good haircut from a truly exceptional one. Plus, did I mention what a great guy he is? Having lived abroad, being from the Midwest, and being college-educated, he's a joy to talk to. Suggestions: The place could use a makeover. I've been going here off and on since 2023, and more consistently for the last year or so. I've been letting the reservation system pick the barber so I've gotten my haircut by most of them. So let me start with most of them, they're all great. They're all nice, they all make you feel comfortable, the host is also always super chill and inviting upon walking in. I don't have a negative complaint about this place. They're also cool with dogs so that's also a bonus point. But I gotta get more specific. Nicky and Ryan are my absolute favorites. When I set an appointment now, it's gotta be one of them for me. They're both really good at hearing what you want, and delivering. Just got my cut today by Ryan and when I got home, I gave it the more detailed look over and that man knows how to do a fade. Scheduled an appointment for 10am - they opened at 9. Showed up and the whole place was locked up, nobody inside. Another patron was also waiting, also with an appointment scheduled for 10am. After about 15 minutes someone drove by and said they were getting the key to open up. The story we were told was that there was an issue with the Internet so the owner told all the stylists to stay home, but didn't tell the patrons. Thankfully Tracy (who is an independent renter, not an employee stylist) was kind enough to fit me in to get a cut. Several other people showed up for appointments while I was in the chair, all of whom were informed there were no stylists there. Tracy was wonderful and did a great job, hence the two stars instead of one. In the future I'll give her my business instead of scheduling with the employee stylists. Very disappointed in ownership for dropping the ball this badly. UPDATE: The owner responded with the reply below. My thoughts: I scheduled my appointment Saturday night for Sunday morning. If it was a known problem on Saturday then new bookings should not have been made available. Additionally, if this were the case and I was simply "missed" there shouldn't have been so many other people showing up for appointments as well. Finally, Tracey was not aware of the snafu when she came in, she was just willing to help. This suggests that the owner only asked renters to help after the issue continued to snowball on Sunday, not in advance. A very tepid explanation and an altogether unsatisfying one. The appropriate thing to do here is to accept responsibility for the mistake, not try to explain it away. read more

Wow! This is my second time at Jimmy's Barber Shop, and they never disappoint! The first time was when I got a pixie cut, and they did an amazing job. This time, I went for another haircut with Chyanna. I showed her a photo of the style I wanted, and she carefully observed it before explaining what kind of hair it was. She then asked if it was okay to trim an inch to achieve the right shape, which I really appreciated--it was so kind of her to be so attentive to the style I requested. We had no appointment but we were able to get squeezed in as long as we waited for 1 hour . Henry was the barber who cut my son's hair . Wow, Im extremely disappointed with the service I received from Mark today. I can safely say this is the worst hair cut I've ever received and the worst I've ever looked. I came out looking worse than I did before I came in. Brought 5 reference pictures but Mark did the hairstyle he felt like doing without listening to what I told him or following the reference pictures. My hair is way too short, it's uneven, and looks completely different from the reference pictures I brought which were exactly what I wanted. Extremely bad listening skills and I literally look uglier than I did before which defeats the purpose of getting a hair cut. Jacob is the GOAT of beard care. A lot of barbers can clean a beard but not a lot of barbers can do a beard justice. I went in last night to get a buzz cut & a beard shape and was booked with Jacob. He thoroughly asked how I wanted my hair and he listened and assured me about the techniques. When it came to my beard he took mentioned how he was going to blend from the buzz to the beard and it came out so fresh. I absolutely love this place. The vibe and music are great, the front desk offers beer and is super friendly. This past weekend I got the best haircut I've had from Adam. Received confirmation and then around 4:30 received a message that my 530pm was moved to to 6:30pm only to find out that my appointment was canceled after driving there. I cried! I made an appointment last Sunday and was scheduled with Finn. I've never had a worse haircut(I'm a straight woman so I appreciate a more feminine "sexy look" if that makes sense). I showed him multiple pictures and the end result was nothing like what I asked for. I was amazed that they are open until 9:00p, which is unheard of for most shops. The shop has a cool look, being built in an old motorcycle garage.
