At my first appointment he described himself as being a medical 'quarterback'. Not being a sports person, I'm not sure what he meant by it but I found him to be more of a middle manager. He'll take your vitals, order & review blood tests, prescribe some basic meds, but otherwise refers everything out. You don't even have to take off your clothes for any appointments - though this can be a plus if it's what you're looking for. My main issue is that he does not perform annual women's wellness exams. He will refer you to a Gyn. My prior doctor of 15 years & new doctor both regularly perform your annual women's wellness exam especially if pregnancy is not an issue unless you specifically request otherwise or have your own Gyn. For basic annual exams there's no real need for a specialist. My question is does he perform prostate exams on men & or is it just women's wellness he's not comfortable with? Because trust me, I don't like that exam very much either but it's a health necessity. If you're a women he may not be the right fit. He was very thorough in ordering lab test before your visit & taking vitals and reviewing them in great detail but he did not really leave time for addressing patient questions and concerns. By the time I got home I always felt that I didn't have a chance to discuss my concerns or he was dismissive of them. I always come in with a notepad to keep track of my doctor's comments & my questions. I did have one concern that I did a Telehealth appointment. He suggested I come in for a physical exam, which I did, but he never performed the physical exam. I was too embarrassed to ask. I came to Dr. Wallis when my primary care doctor of 15 years moved her practice too far. He came highly recommended. I was contemplating another doctor but chose Dr. Wallis on their recommendation. His concierge service was not feasible so I moved to another doctor who is a good fit.

What made this worse was watching other individuals who appeared to have a personal relationship with the doctor walk in without appointments and be taken ahead of us. It felt completely unprofessional and disrespectful of our time. When we were finally seen, the interaction did not improve. Dr. Mellano came across as defensive and combative when we asked reasonable questions about our daughter's condition. After reviewing MRIs and X-rays that were ordered through this same clinic, he ultimately said he didn't know what the problem was, suggested her pain (ongoing for over a year) would "eventually go away," and advised us to seek a specialist outside of his clinic. We left with no diagnosis, no treatment plan, and no confidence in the care provided. For a pediatric patient dealing with long-term pain, this level of dismissal and lack of professionalism is unacceptable. I have been seeing him almost every week for the past few months, and the improvement has been significant. My pain has gone down a lot. I can now walk barefoot at home, which I could not comfortably do before. Lifting luggage into the overhead bin on an airplane is no longer very painful. I feel like after seeing this doctor a few times I realized the following:…read more 1)Dr. Niam cares about his patients. 2) He has a great staff 3) I've see all 3 chiropractors but prefer Dr. Banks and Dr. Niam for adjustments as they are more firm and quick. Dr. J gives a very soft/light adjustment that just doesn't feel the same for me. 4) Being this is a clinic where they treat people that may not feel well or have migraines etc, I'm surprised they allow the use of phones with sounds in the office waiting area. On my first visit a woman was listening to vulgar music that was loud enough for everyone in the waiting room and front office to hear. Coming in with a headache that's not something I want to hear or listen to. Also, if there were children present, it's really not appropriate. But there's no signs or indications that people need to have their phone on silent. When I had asked the lady if she could turn it down, she just looked at me so I went to the front and asked to sit and wait in my car. There were multiple other times that people were either playing music or listening to reels or other things, and if the office just had a simple policy and they asked their patients to mute their phones it would make it better for all of their patients. I spoke to two of the doctors about this and one doctor completely agreed there should be a policy like this in place because people come for treatment with migraines and pain but the other doctor said no they don't want to inconvenience their patients makes me feel like they aren't being considerate for all their patients, especially those that are in pain. As such I'm increasing my rating because the doctors and staff and treatment are great but will not give a 5 because of the disregard to ensuring all patients, even those in pain and suffering migraines can wait for their treatment without further discomfort.
