Store was charming, love that they carry lots of local products. Their muffins sure look yummy. Tried the corn chowder and really wanted it to be delicious but it was bland and not special at all. I was surprised that there wasn't a list of ingredients on the chowder. I have food allergies and had to call Shaw's to ask about ingredients. read more

Shaw Farm continues to struggle with training issues involving their Summer staff. Portion sizes are wildly inconsistent and it makes for an oftentimes frustrating experience. Tonight, I got a "Large" Chocolate Chip Ice Cream in a cup. I watched as the Server scraped what was left from the container into the cup. I expected her to get a new one to finish filling the cup but; that never happened. Instead I received a partial serving that was closer to a Small size. Mrs. StoneOld requested a small NAS Black Raspberry in a Cone. What she received would not qualify as a Baby size at most places. Less than a full scoop was placed on top of the Cone with ZERO Ice Cream inside it. Ridiculously disappointing. Shaw Farm does have some of the best Ice Cream around but the portion size irregularities are making it difficult to justify going there. Not recommended at this time, unless you're looking to play Ice Cream roulette. read more

Great milk and so many delicious bakery options including muffins, cookies, and pies. The chocolate cream pie is our favorite. They have a nice selection of items from other small local businesses. The ice-cream stand is top-notch and in the summer you can see the baby cows. read more

We yelped a place to try for dessert and we ended up at Shaws Farm. The market was nicely stocked with dairy products, meats, bakery items frozen meal options. The flavored milk was truly amazing and the muffins were great. We did stop and get an ice cream sundae before we left. The ice cream tasted fine but we were not sure if there was an error in one of the flavors that were scooped. We asked for peanut butter cup as a flavor but we think we may have gotten some kind of mint flavor. It tasted good just wasn't expected. read more

I enjoyed this place. They may have less flavors than other places, but I find their ice cream to be better. It's smooth and creamy; and the portions are nice. I will come here over Heritage in Lowell; they are half the price and double the size! Also, the store is super cute and the baked goods look delicious. I want to go back just to get the apple cider donuts. Plenty of parking! I guess the big farm is across the street and you would have to walk over (I did not see anyone do that)? Lately their light cream and half and half cream lasts only a few days. We have been buying our milk and cream their for 20 plus years. We have told them how the cream clumps and taste sour and has cottage cheese floating around. We returned one bottle after purchaseing it a day ago. When we told the lady she said it was the butter cream we were seeing. I said why does it taste sour... please don't doubt me I know what sour is. So we swapped it out of a new one and here it is 2 days ago and same thing curdled cream in my coffee. NOT BUTTER cream why not call it BUTTER MILK and not Light Cream that is what it taste like Butter Milk which I would make pancackes with it is not cream for my coffee. HOPE company takes a good look at their cream making process because something has gone terribly wrong. read more

It is not cheap, but the old fashioned glass bottles, farm stand feel and the knowledge you helped a small, local agricultural business makes it all worthwhile. Pretty awesome little place, ice cream selection was pretty good. If your lactose intolerant have the sherbet! The small is honestly like a large, so just be aware for kids! Beautiful classic New England dairy farm. Go on the hay ride and smell the palate cleansing (as in you'll lose your apetite) cow dung. Just kidding. It's nature. On the other side of the street is a an ice cream shop. Inside you'll find milk in glass bottles (90 cent deposit) of their milk. I highly recommend the non homogenized milk. It's super super tasty. There are also jams, kitschy clothes, breads and seasonal foods. We tried the egg nog which was really quite good. Donna and Lyndie were very helpful and friendly. This place will totally bring you back to growing up as a kid in New England if you were fortunate enough to do so. read more

Extremely good and creamy ice cream with a host of unique flavors. We had a decent Black Raspberry, a strong Coffee Oreo, and a mouth-melting Salted Caramel. Generous kiddie sizes at reasonable prices. Farm shop cafe sells area breads, pies, spreads and Shaw's own milk. We tried both the chocolate milk and the banana milk, both smooth and creamy. Next time will try the coffee milk. Nice atmosphere, good variety, local farm presence. Saw folks bringing in their empty milk bottles to exchange for full ones, it does a body good. A great 100-year old dairy farm with the fluffiest, delicious fresh ice cream you coould imagine. The will even give you a private tour of the facility if you want to see how milk goes from cow to bottle! Plus, they have incredible egg nog in winter and the banana milk is awesome. I've tried all the flavors and they are all delicious. You can also buy their milk products at C'est and Alpine Butcher, both in Lowell. They also sell eggs and cheese, and I think they still do deliveries to the nearby towns as well. It's a very fun extravagence having your dairy products delivered to your door... Visit the farm (call first to schedule an appointment) on a nice summer day and love being in new england a little bit more. read more

Been here twice now and very disappointed both times. Ice cream is delicious but we got large sundays that were very small and barely any hot fudge. Also got a jr banana split and it only had vanilla ice cream and chocolate syrup with a banana. Will not return for ice cream. Store was great but a lil pricey. read more

I appreciate the homey feel and atmosphere and store presentation. I also appreciate the ample parking spaces and convenient store hours. A few years ago I saw banana milk for the first time, I bought it. Since then it's like an obsession because so go here all the time for it. Sometimes i get chocolate milk sometimes strawberry. Rarely do I get the ice cream. Nonetheless all are really good and taste smooth. The pricing on the banana milk went up by 20 cents so that's not good. The store is also smart and saves the community waste because you can refill milk for cheaper, if you bring your empty jug. read more

Ordered Banana milk from them and thought it was fantastic. Had it delivered to my house, but it sat outside for over an hour because I was at work. "No problem", I thought, "I'll just have them deliver to my work, someone's always there to accept the delivery." Well I placed my order, and frustratingly, it never came, despite the delivery guy(?) that spoke to me on the phone telling me that they could get it out the next day. I called shaw farm and left a frustrated but generally polite message, explaining that I ordered the milk 3 days ago, and it has yet to show up. The next day I received an email that my order had been cancelled per my request (which I did not request). This was very frustrating. But I enjoyed the milk so I resubmitted my order and gave them another chance to continue to earn my business. Roughly $30 in milk I ordered to be delivered to my work (I had co-workers that wanted to try it), again, will not be coming. I received an email from Lyndie Shaw simply saying to only order when having it delivered to my home, and that they would not be delivering to my work. I've never had an issue with anything else being delivered to my work before. I've ordered off of Amazon, eBay, and several other online retailers, and not once had they refused to deliver to my work based in the fact that it was a McDonald's of which I'm a manager and authorized to send deliveries to. Extremely disappointed in Shaw Farm. They did not reach out to me to try to make the deliveries work for me. I lack the transportation to get to their store, and I do too much shift work to know when I will be home for a delivery. Me and my boss and co-workers had planned on making this order a twice-per-month thing. They were not flexible enough to meet my needs and made no effort to reach out to me to improve my experience As a result they have lost my business. I work with customers every day. So glad to find a functioning farm that loves its cows! While not fully pastured, which is a sad thing, these cows are well-treated and loved. The milk and cream are far better than the supermarket versions. I'm happy to have a local option. This milk is very tasty. It's not the best I've had, but it's still very tasty. The farm stand offers some good stuff, too, including on occasion their own pork and pork products, local cheeses, Cabot butter and a Vermont dairy's yogurt. They do have local fruits and vegetables, too, plus all the kitschy nonsense you'd expect from a farmstand that's this big in its operations. (Magnets and aprons with cutesy puns, etc.) My complaint is their ice cream. I'm glad it's made with their own milk and cream, which improves it slightly, but they've opted to go with the big food service flavor packages and there are a lot of extraneous ingredients in there, like guar gum and maltodextrin. Ice cream needs milk, cream, fruits, and not even sugar necessarily if your other ingredients are good enough, but whatever, throw sugar in there, too. Shaw Farm's has corn syrup. Again, it's because they went with that distributor's ice cream flavoring package instead of just using real food. It's too bad that they take good milk and cream and ruin it with added nonsense. I wish they'd make ice cream with real ingredients, but I guess that's why I'm looking for my own ice cream maker. read more

This place has the best chocolate milk on the planet! My kids friends BEG them to bring a couple bottles back to the dorm after a visit home! Cute little store, with excellent baked goods & a really friendly staff. Recently tried "their own" hamburgers which are sold frozen. Don't eat much red meat so when we do, I like it to be tasty. These were really good, could definitely taste the difference, so I'll buy them again for sure. The chicken & turkey pies (also frozen) are very good as well & an easy "throw one in the oven for an hour & eat" weeknite meal. THE BEST FARM MADE ICECREAM around. Not super sweet like store icecream or other "farm" icecream, and full of rich milk taste. Our favorite is the Black Raspberry which we buy the large carton home so everyone can enjoy it more than once ;) We also like the coffee and cappuccino flavors as well. I visit Shaw Farms every week for my weekly supply of fresh milk, from their own cows, and in glass bottles. Yes I pay a little more but it is well worth it. They do sell their milk in plastic as well. I buy their 2%and I swear it tastes far better than grocery market sold whole milk in plastic jugs. For a real treat, go for their whole milk, flavored milks, and when available, their own fresh eggnog. They also offer true organic milk if that's your thing. Visit their ice cream stand for either their own produced hard or soft serve ice creams. The country store also sells locally produced veggies, baked goods, meats, cheeses, etc., etc. Also, if you have young children, give them a call and ask about a tour of their farm. Support your local dairy as I do. It is a fresher, tastier, and healthier product. read more

Adorable little shop inside that has everything from local honey to beer soap. Yup Oatmeal Stout Beer Soap. Fun shop to walk around and see all the fun things. The staff is very knowledgeable about their products and really friendly. Ice cream and store is a bit expensive but you do have to keep in mind that it is a local business and not a chain. read more

It's that special treat that I look forward to all year long. That's why this place gets five stars. If you're a fan of Reese's Pieces, go for the ET. It's my go to flavor. The milk here is also excellent, it tastes fresh and it seems to last forever. The milk brings me to another fabulous childhood memory. My best friend Katie's mom used to make us milkshakes with Shaw Farm Chocolate milk. I will never forget these shakes. Heavenly. The chocolate milk could be a milkshake itself.
