My mother has been going here for my entire life and probably since before I was born. We're talking 30+ years. I grew up in Tewksbury which is a hike for milk and ice cream but it was worth it. Love the glass milk bottles. I used to put them back into the cart when I was a kid. Chocolate and coffee ice creams are amazing. One of my brothers still goes there for their chocolate milk. When I was a kid, I used to be able to run up to the stables and feed the cows the tall grass i picked. I'm not sure you can do that anymore with the risk of both parties getting sick and all. But it's a cool place. Within the past 10 years they've opened an ice cream stand across from the old store. read more

What is there to say about show farm ice cream other than it's the best. So creamy and delicious. If you aren't from the area, you might not know but it's flat out the best iced cream, milk and dairy you can get. They don't deliver with the milk truck anymore, but the quality is still the same. If they say it's fresh, ask to see their cows. That's their slogan. read more

Awesome Chocolate milk, but the ice cream is subpar at best. The ice cream is not particulary creamy, and has a very airy consitency. The flavors of the ice cream are not very strong. Overall I think this ice cream is very overated. I can think of ten other place that have far better ice cream. In fact it is shocking that with the quality of milk and cream they have to work with that the ice cream is mundane. Store bough ice cream tastes better. Oh well maybe Shaw Farms will read this and make an effort to improve their recipe. read more

Shaw Farms in a fantastic dairy with an equally fantastic dairy stand. They sell all of their products in a cute little on-premise shop, and their products are great. They sell their milk in a variety of packaging, including glass bottles. Plus they have flavored milk (inlcuding banana, which I hear is good if you're into that sort of thing), and the chocolate is delicious. It's worth the trip to Shaw Farms at least once just to check the place out, but their dairy products are also available at the Dairy Bar at Kickass Cupcakes in Somerville. read more

Shaw Dairy Farm has been in Dracut for 100+ years. Everyone in the area knows about this place. The fresh daily milk is awesome, and it comes in chocolate, strawberry, and banana flavors. The prices are higher than I think they should be for what you get. The ice cream is okay, but not as great as Richardsons in Danvers, Mass. I still visit on a regular basis, because it is the only family owned dairy farm in miles around. read more

This review is only for the ice cream stand. I did not go into the store. Very nice dairy farm making ice cream from its own cows. The ice cream is super smooth and very creamy. The number of flavors was decent and there were a good number of interesting ones. The one thing that caught my attention was the Whoppie Pie sundae which is exactly as it sound. An ice cream sundae built on top of a whoppie pie. I did not get one as I was having my ice cream pre dinner style, but I definitely have to come back to try it. I had a small chocolate walnut ice cream which was divine and the small was of course plenty big for one person. I liked that they served their ice cream in recyclable plastic mini bowls instead of the usual wax covered paper cup that can't be recycled or composted. The stand itself was basically some windows on the side of the store which sold all their other dairy products. There were some picnic tables and the view across the street of the active dairy farm was very nice. read more

Picked up two pints of ice cream yesterday and was disappointed with the flavors. The homemade flavor was there BUT the flavors didn't live up to their names. The Mint Oreo had oreo crumbs mixed in instead of cookie pieces. The apple strudel had apple but no strudel, unless is was just crumbs? It was eh to say the least. read more

Best milk I've ever had. Check out the little shop and ice cream stand! They sell ice cream sandwiches as big as your head for $5! Come here almost every week. The cows are great for the children or if you're just into that sort of thing but be careful cause they like to lick! We have our milk delivered weekly and it is amazing. There truly is a difference between the taste of this farm fresh milk and the stuff available at the grocery store. Delivery is timely (arrives every Wednesday morning in time for breakfast!) and we always add a quart of the chocolate milk which is to die for! I also really appreciate the option to purchase milk in reusable glass bottles, we return the bottles each week in our porch box. Let me start off by saying I like their ice cream. I really do. The problem is the serving size is not large enough for the price. Other than that, it's pretty good. I also like the fact they have a store inside. I love their milk, they sell it in those old fashioned glass bottles. So you can get some milk, get an ice cream, and go visit the cows and donkeys across the road. That's right. You can visit the cows that made yiur ice cream's milk. Very cool. Overall, this is an OK place. I recommend it. Good place to go once in a while. read more

I'm torn on the stars. The milk is 5 stars. Beyond excellent. Yes, it's more expensive than the supermarket, but it's a better tasting process, and I can see the cows. I worked on a large dairy farm as a kid that sold milk to "big business", and I can tell you the cows here at Shaw's are more loved. The milk is slow and low pasteurized compared to the high heat/fast pasteurization of the regular grocery store milk. It is creamier, and more satisfying. My son loves the banana milk, and my spouse loves the strawberry milk. I love the chocolate milk. The ice cream is 3 stars. I find it hit and miss on flavors. Some flavors I love, and they taste great (like oreo), and others are not so great (banana cream pie comes to mind). I'm also slightly leery of all the ingredients added to the ice cream. I would expect it to be more milk/cream, flavoring based, but there are still some random ingredients. It may be because some of their ice cream is sold at other stores, so needs more preserving. My child loves the donkey during the summer. He also likes looking through the windows and seeing the bottling process. They have a lot of fun activities at their store, including farm tours, and ice cream sundae specials. There are lots of other local items sold in their store that can be picked up as well. read more

Maybe not the sheer number of flavors some other local ice cream stands have, but they still have plenty of options.
