I love shawarma. I have eaten a LOT of RVA shawarma. This is the best chicken shawarma I've ever had. There's no comparison. Amazing take out!

First and foremost, the food was incredible. All proteins seasoned very well and came out hot, with huge portions. Service was excellent as well, very welcoming staff. Brought us some warm bread and olive oil for free while we were waiting. Thanks for the great meal, will definitely be returning!

I got the half and half shawarma ($16) and it came with lamb and beef shawarma and Chicken Shawarma with two sides which I choose hummus and the grilled onion & tomato. It came out in about 20 minutes after a busy takeout crowd. The meat was very moist, seasoned well, crispy, and quite delicious. I really enjoyed both meats surprisingly quite equally. The hummus and garlic sauce were outstanding! However I felt that their garlic sauce was quite heavy on me leaving me feel quite sluggish after the meal (but that could be a good thing since the food was awesome). Staff were very nice. The inside was a bit sticky and felt like a hole in the wall place, but those places usually ends up being a place that serves phenomenal food! there is about 1.5 serving size worth of food so the value is quite good! I would definitely come back again ! Food(50%): 8.8 Staff/service(25%): 7.5 Value(25%): 8.5 Overall: 8.4/10

Shawarma Bistro is Average, and there are some things we have to talk about. Firstly, the lack of A/C and the multitude of fans they have running. Upon entering, it was warm, the staff shifted the fans pretty close to our faces, making it hurricane dining. With the positives I have 3. The store was clean. The staff that we did interact with were friendly. And according to my fellow diner, their falafel and tahini was among the best they've had. Now as for me, I ordered the Lamb and Beef Shawarma with fries and Arabic Salad. The fries were crispy and absolutely delicious but the meat was...quite mediocre in flavor. The combination of beef and lamb was not my favorite and had some overcooked chunks. The Arabic salad wasn't bad but didn't stand out. Now again, reviews come down to the items you get, and maybe there are some crowd favorites that I was not aware of. With the items I did receive, I was not impressed. Was it bad, no. Was it good, no. It is an average restaurant that I may return to. With that being said, I would not get the same items.

7/21/23 Noon I ordered a side of hummus and a side Fattoush salad w/sprite soda. Both were very good. I just wish the salad had a bigger dish. It was quite difficult to mix and eat without wasting some on the table. The restaurant is family oriented and everyone was very friendly. I would revisit.

Say it with me: BEST FALAFELS EVER!!!!! No but seriously I've been searching for years now to find the perfect falafel and low and behold it's been hiding here the whole time. This restaurant is located in a very unassuming shopping center. They are currently the only buisness that's open. This is a small family owned buisness with really good food at an affordable price. The inside of the restaurant isn't much to look at but don't let that discourage you. The chicken was well seasoned and very tender.

Food was delicious and served hot to us. We received a complimentary pita bread (3) with a side of olive oil and seasoning for dipping. The bread was hot and fresh was well - super soft! The service was prompt. Our waitress was to the point when we ordered our food and ensured to offer us dessert when we were done with our food. Good place for a family meal or even if you have little ones. The portions are huge as well (pics for reference). The restaurant itself was clean and small. The bathrooms were clean as well. Bill does include 15% gratuity.

Amazing place. It's a hole in the wall but it's definitely a treasure. Friendly service. We tried the Beef and Lamb Shawarma. Plenty of meat. Moist and cut thinly. Super tasty. But, the Chicken Shawarma pizza is at the next level of great flavor. Soft and doughy crust. I will for sure come back. Just a note. They include a tip in all order so just be careful to not double tip.

We drive by the lot that Shawarma Bistro is located at every week on the way to get groceries, and every week the l always think "Boy, does that sound good, but I probably can't eat most of the tasty items because I have Celiac [gluten based autoimmune disease]". I finally decided to reach out to the restaurant and ask, hoping I could have at least a piece of chicken or something. --Food: Turns out, many of their items are gluten free! The owner of the restaurant let me know that just about all the items that aren't on a pita, pizza / manakeesh, mention wheat (tabbouleh / kibbeh), and the rice (looks like a pilaf) are gluten free. While that sounds like a lot of things I can't have, that leaves the real stars including the shawarma meat, hummus, and fries. (Which are fried in a non gluten fryer!) I got the 1/2 Beef+Lamb, 1/2 Chicken Shawarma entree with a side of Hummus and French Fries. The meat was delicious and seasoned well. I'm going to be honest, I was always pretty neutral on Hummus but theirs is really tasty. The fries are seasoned and delicious too. Also, the garlic sauce that comes with the shawarma is top tier delicious and I think I want to learn how it's made and put it on everything. Super good. I did order a side of the jajik (cucumber yogurt sauce) and za'atar but honestly the garlic is better. (Though if you like those things, they were good too!) They also have build your own plates (almost sounds like building a deluxe salad) where you can pick a meat, a side, and then vegetable toppings. While I don't personally love falafel, they have that as well. (And it's GF). For those that can have gluten, they have lots of wraps and pitas that you can get with chicken or beef/lamb in addition to any of the build your own plate things. They also have pizzas and manakeesh. --Cost: It's not the cheapest but the order I had was a ton of food for the money. I had a lunch snack the next day even. Looks like most things are around the $15 range for entrees. Definitely affordable for the quality. --Service: The owner that emailed me back was very responsive and genuine. Pickup was easy and plenty of people were eating inside now and spaced apart. Someday I'll dine in but takeout was easy and fast. --Overall: Loved it and absolutely recommend. Not just because of the gluten free options, but the food is legitimately delicious. My fiancee tried some of the chicken and fries and wants to get an order for herself next time. I definitely plan on ordering again, and you know, might get it for dinner tonight!

Riding up to Shawarma Bistro, it was very apparently how Covid had hit the area. It seemed to be about the only business left in an otherwise abandoned shopping strip. We got in the restaurant and we were the only people there, but we went at kind of an off time, between lunch and dinner. Our server was super kind and helpful with the menu, neither myself or my mom had ever tried shawarma before but maaaaannnnnn we were missing out! I got the Shawarma Chicken with a side of baba ghannouj and tabbouleh. The sides were okay, I mainly wanted to try food I hadn't tried before. But let me tell you, that chicken was great! It had a good flavor and almost a crunch to some pieces, and came out steaming hot. I could've eaten a huge plate of that alone. My mom got a pizza and that was pretty good, too. It tasted really fresh. Also, the plating of my meal was excellent, it was presented so well. Overall it was a pretty good time at the Shawarma Bistro, I definitely recommend it if you haven't tried it yet!! read more

Hole in the wall with the best food this place did not miss. I got the chicken sandwich with fries and it was 10/10 . Ask for tahini sauce . My boyfriend got the mixed plate with fries and he said it was delicious, also they gave soo much food . He usually finishes his but we left with a lot to go ! Y'all have to try it read more

After drooling over their Instagram posts for a few months I finally got Shawarma Bistro! It was everything I dreamed it would be. We got the lamb and beef sandwich and the butter chicken shawarma and they were both my favorite, sorry I can't choose just one! You must get both! Even the sides (pita, rice and fries) were delicious. Everything is just so fresh and flavorful. The garlic and tahini sauces are a must as is the lentil soup, my 8 month old almost finished the whole container. An additional "yay" for super easy online ordering and friendly customer service! Can't wait to order again! read more

Don't let the odd location deter you. This is the best shawarma in short pump (maybe Richmond). Whether your are doing takeout or eating in its consistently amazing - everything on the menu is. Plus it's literally the best hummus I may have ever tried. 10/10 recommend. read more

Was craving to try the food here and finally got the opportunity. Stopped by since we were in the area and put in our order. Ordered the chicken shawarma sandwich, Kufta lamb and beef, chicken kebab, and half and half shawarma. It was a busy time for them as it was dinner rush. The lady who took our order said it would be about 30 minutes. We were ok with the wait as it was a busy time. They were able to prepare our order in 30 minutes. As soon as we got home we devoured our meals. It was definitely worth the wait. Everything tasted fresh and was very flavorful. It really satisfied my craving. They gave good portions. We will be back to try other items on their menu. Service was fast and friendly. read more

Ordered food for me and my friends for over $60. The quality of chicken shawarma entree is horrible. Also, shawarma comes with no bread and when I asked for a piece of bread they want me to pay extra. The chicken is dry and definitely not fresh. Will never come to this restaurant again read more

When you happen upon shawarma bistro it's a bit unassuming, but trust me it's DELICIOUS. We ordered the beef and lamb sandwich and half/half shawarma...both were so good and filling. If you order the half/half bistro expect leftovers (I'd say it's around 2-3 meals. Excited to come back soon! read more

Seriously, some of the best food in RVA! I live in Turkey for a while, and this is close. Maybe better! The shawarma, the hummus, the tabouli, everything is so fresh and amazing! Portions are big but so is the price. My only complaint is the 3 times I have been, it was a bit pricey! I wish they served half portions. Also, for the prices it would be better to have glass or plastic cups instead of disposable. Overall, I would definitely go quite often if the prices were lower or smaller and cheaper portions were offered. The food is excellent and definitely a place to try! Yum! Yum! Yum! read more

We're sloooowly crawling out of our COVID hole, and we have a young son who can not get vaccinated yet, so this place was perfect for dipping our toes back into society. Outdoor seating was done well and at lunchtime on a Saturday only one other table was occupied. I will say- never went inside, so I can't comment on the indoor setup. The waitress was masked, very pleasant, and attentive. The food was amazing. Def try the lamb and beef schawarma sandwich, the baba ghanoush, and the falafel. read more

Stopped by here after an away game. Phenomenal food. Kind and helpful service. The meal started with fresh pita bread, hot off the skillet. The spicy shawarma wrap is amazing. My daughter got the chicken shawarma plate with humus and baba ganoush. Everything came out hot, fresh, and delicious! We were too busy trying all the things to take pictures. Atmosphere is like a lunch spot. But the food is like a slice of heaven. Definitely check this place out. They're handling the COVID things well and have a solid takeout option (I saw folks coming through a good bit). I'll look for a reason to come back! read more

Go eat here right now! I was able to easily place our family's order on line and pay. Super friendly staff when I arrived to pick up. Everything we ordered was fresh and delicious. Wow, I wouldn't have guessed it from the outside but this is an amazing shawarma restaurant that competes with one of the best Mediterranean restaurants I've been to in Richmond - at a way more reasonable price. The pita bread they have is the poofy, pillowy kind and it's served warm. The hummus was excellent and the shawarma was great. The menu isn't huge but what they have is done well - this place is a winner. read more

Our server offered us their homemade hot sauce, which was delicious. All the ingredients were super fresh, well seasoned and prepared with love! Yum! So glad we found this place! The food was so fresh and plentiful - well-marinated juicy chicken, nice garlicky kebabs, the tabouleh is the kind with lots of parsley rather than bulgar, and yummy yogurt sides and dips. The waitress was great and pointed out that pita bread comes with the meals so I didn't need to use that up as a choice for one of my sides. We sat outside but indoors was reasonably nice too. This is definitely not a fancy place and sadly the strip mall it's in is pretty empty but hopefully they can be the anchor for new stores coming in. The Aaryn (?) yogurt drink I had was salty tho - fine with me but that would probably surprise some people and waitress didn't mention that when I ordered it. Otherwise she was very helpful, went back and forth multiple times since we had a group with kids. We added a tip anyway cuz they were worth it especially with everyone hurting right now but be aware there is one on the bill already. read more

I've been searching for good shawarma locally for a while and FINALLY found it!!! After living in Saudi Arabia for several years I longed for food similar to what I ate there and after trying several in RVA, I hit jackpot with Shawarma Bistro. After looking at their menu online and checking out their IG page I had high hopes. They did not disappoint and the great service made it exceed my expectations. My husband was ecstatic with the chicken shawarma sandwich he had. It was chef's kiss, all the ingredients (pickles, garlic sauce, fries)) we remembered and tasted in shawarmas we had while in KSA. I was overjoyed to see fattoush on the menu so I ordered it and hummus with my meat platter. The shawarma meat was seasoned well and the portion was plentiful! Hummus also tasted delicious and was super creamy which I loved. Pita bread was made to order and that warm fresh bread complimented my meal really well. This is the worst service I've ever had in my life. The hostess (unsure what her name is) came up to us when we were eating our food and told us it would be a 15% gratuity. We said that was fine, of course. She then rudely said we could not sit at the table THEY put us at and told us it was reserved and made us get up and move.
