Found this cafe on a tiktok review and decided on a whim I was going to try it. This place was well worth it. The vibe inside is a cute dim lit ambiance with tons of seating. They have a bar that doubles as a coffee bar that also sells wine and beer in the evening? Tons of parking outside and maybe tables to choose from even though the place was pretty filled up! All the syrups for coffee were house made which I LOVE!! a lot of places in Richmond don't do house made syrups so that already puts this place on top. I got an iced latte with vanilla bean and my partner ordered an iced coffee with brown sugar cinnamon. 10/10 on both. Seriously. One of the best lattes I've had in this area and the prices were LOW compared to other cafes. My 12 oz latte was under $6 and so was my partners coffee. Fine little local spot. I mainly hit it or breakfast periodically. Food is good, sandwiches in particular. Some of the breakfast items are overpriced for the quality. I decided to come here today because it's close to my house- we love a neighborhood spot- and I wfh, so I wanted a change of scenery. Immediately upon walking in I was blown away by how beautiful it is with all of the decorations and art. Some people say it's farmhouse vibes but I was getting beachy vibes and loved it! I've been to this friendly neighborhood cafe a few times and always appreciate the helpful walk up self service and coastal farmhouse vibe. I usually get a honey lavender latte either iced or hot depending on my mood and it never disappoints. Also appreciate it when they go the extra mile to make syrups in house. Most recently I grabbed lunch with a friend and ordered the Boykin. It was pretty good particularly the steak because it was done very nicely and was a respectable amount (although not sure it's worth $18 after feeling pressured to add tip with the tablet swing) Sandwich overall was missing something. The combination of steak, white cheddar, sautéed onions and roasted mushrooms with horseradish and tarragon mayo should be enough, but I think it was missing the horseradish maybe because there was no bite to so it was kind of bland,but again I did enjoy the decent steak. A little color like roasted red pepper or sun-dried tomatoes could be a nice addition. read more

I love the ambiance in this place. It feels like a coastal garden. The coffee is delicious. Our favorites are the Thai coffee and the chai latte. The chai is a perfect blend of spices. Typically in a chai, one spice will overpower all the others. Not in this one. Don't miss out on the ginger snaps. The recipe is a family one and it's a great one. Another example of the perfect blend of spices and seasonings. The staff is knowledgeable and friendly. I ventured next door while waiting for our order and met the owner's wife. Just came here today for a meet and eat with someone I've known virtually and was meeting irl for the first time. This is a wonderful spot for a first meeting! First of all, the cafe space is so cozy and welcoming. It isn't too loud, so it's easy to chat with people. It's also a very casual environment. You order/pay at the front and grab your drinks from the counter and get served your food. There are a few seats outside and plenty inside. The servers here are very kind. This cafe is so cute. It's located in a strip mall so there is a lot of parking available. I ordered a matcha latte and the boykin sandwich. The boykin was incredible. It was like a steak and mushroom grilled cheese. It was absolutely delicious. My friend ordered the arugula salad and loved it. She mentioned that they also had great breakfast options here. I've been for breakfast & lunch at least 3 times...and for a well priced, "tastes like I cooked for myself today" meal that's quick, filling, and hits the spot...this is consistently good. Recommend: Avocado toast (it's loaded), the super bowl (vegan option w/o parmesan), the breakfast sandwich, & the gazpacho. Nice little cafe to leisurely enjoy some food and drinks. A friend and I stopped here this morning. We each had a Walter's breakfast sandwich and a coffee drink. The sandwich was good, but I thought it was kind of bland--with the red onion and gouda, I expected more flavor. I got a cafe au lait, which oddly took longer to make than the sandwich, but had a nice frothy top. We chatted for a while, while a steady stream of customers came and went. I decide to try out a new Cafe this Sunday. This place has an outside section that is dog friendly, which was a big plus. I love coming here! I have family in town and I drive two hours and I always ask if we can go to ShoreDog!! Their food is always a 100 out of 10. The staff is so nice and they are always so welcoming! The owner has a great home decor store as well directly next door (White + Willow). I love this place! We stopped in this morning after dropping our dog at the groomers next door. I love that the decor is bright and features local artists whose art you can purchase. The staff are really friendly and helpful and offered up suggestions after one of our items was out of stock. The food is delicious...the breakfast wrap had great flavor and was filling. I still like Shoredog, for shore! But on my last few visits, the service has been subpar. Keep in mind that this artsy and relaxing eatery is walk-up counter ordering service. If you just get drinks, they put them on a counter for pick-up, but they don't call your name so you've got to keep an eye out. If you order food, you get a number and your meal is delivered to you. You are encouraged to bring your dishes to the counter yourself. So this is a partially self serve place, yet the pay screen "guilts" you into 15-25% tip, which we did leave. Now "tip"ically I leave a 20-30% tip or more depending on the service. But here you are doing some of the work yourself. When the cashier/server brought us our avocado toast & quinoa bowl, she asked do you need anything else (?), I said salt & pepper. And my friend goes, and we ordered tea lattes. She goes, quite brusquely, "they're over there" and waves to the counter. I remarked, oh what's the tip for then? And we got up to get our drinks. She could have easily and happily grabbed out teas, which we did not see because there were several customers in the way, but she chose not to. I'm in the customer service industry, and I would have said, "oh, they're on the counter, but let me get them for you!" This restaurant isn't cheap, we spent $38 on two teas and light breakfasts, so IMO I think they need to step up their service game. We frequent this establishment and the food is always good, it has a really cool vibe, although it can get really crowded at times. But it's a "go to" for locals, so show some love and go the extra mile for your loyal patrons. Earn that tip. read more

Got coffee with a friend and decided to check out the cafe. The space is big and the ambience is nice . Great spot if you trying to get work done and they even have a back room. I enjoyed our latte and the scone but everything else was seriously lacking . We also ordered a breakfast sandwich along with a side of eggs & bacon . The bacon was COLD but crispy , not made to orders at all. The bagel was ehhhh! The bread wasn't even toasted & again COLD bacon. I understand if they are cafe but if your serving a full menu with lunch and dinner .... My food should not be cold . The prices are also steep and not worth it. I paid $30 for side of bacon & eggs ,breakfast sandwich , 2 lattes, and one scone . Total rip off . I will say the latte and scone was our trips saving grace. One of my new cafe spots. I saw this when I had a Kuba Kuba Dos date the other week and honestly thought that it was a pet shop. Thankfully I looked up Yelp to make sure I wasn't missing out on any hidden gems around RVA haha. There is a pet shop along the small strip but it's NOT this one. I got to ask one of my friends out on a brunch/lunch date before heading to the beach and decided to give this place a shot. I needed a mimosa and we both ended up getting the Westham sandwiches. They have a lot of other cafe options and I already can't wait to come back and try. The Westham sandwiches (obtain: "Free Range Chicken | Gouda Cheese | Roasted Red Peppers | Arugula | Basil Mayonnaise"). Talk about a beautiful presentation! The sandwich looked colorful and tasted delicious! I will honestly say that I do not see myself coming here for dinner, but I will be setting many brunch/lunch dates here during the week. This is my go to cafe for work meetings. It's less than 5 minutes down the road, and my board members love it! I favor the breakfast of champions, and sometimes a breakfast sandwich. The food it always made to order, and taste so fresh. The chai tea latte is real! Meaning they strep the chai tea instead of pumping it from a container, so it's less sugar and more authentic tasting. Shoredog Cafe is a super cute cafe that is a great place for a quick coffee and brunch on the weekend! I met my friend here today and we had a great time. It wasn't super crowded when we arrived at 9:30, but got steadily more busy as time went on. The cafe itself is bright and airy with plenty of seating. I loved all of the dog themed artwork. The menu is relatively limited for brunch - think cafe sandwiches and coffees rather than "true" brunch food. I got the bacon, egg, and cheese bagel sandwich and a rose latte. The sandwich was good, but nothing outstanding. The latte was really tasty with just a hint of rose and wasn't too sweet. I fell in love with a good rose latte when I lived in the UK, but struggle to find them in Richmond, so I was pleased to see them on the menu here. Service was friendly and efficient. My friend and I stayed for a few hours to chat and never felt rushed. This would be a great place to do some work during the week. I absolutely love Shoredog Cafe! Breakfast, brunch, lunch, and dinner, all of the food and drinks are amazing. Not only is everything absolutely delicious, but the presentation is also impressive. Equally important, all the servers have great personalities and are very knowledgeable and professional. The dining area is spacious, bright, clean, and quaint. There's even a sitting area in the back with a fireplace and a few leather accent chairs. I also love that there's fresh flowers at every table. At night, this place is absolutely beautiful and pretty romantic. Perfect for a date. They really did a great job with the lighting and decor. My only complaint is the brunch menu had a bunch of drinks with funky names and no descriptions, so it was hard for me to decide what I wanted to order. Speaking of drinks, I was also a little thrown off that for how large the bar area is, they only have seating for 3 at the bar. Very cute cafe with yummy breakfast and coffee! Grabbed breakfast with a friend here this morning and it was delish! I ordered the chef's breakfast sandwich on an everything bagel (with turkey sausage, white cheddar, egg) and a Thai iced coffee. I greatly appreciate breakfast spots that have turkey sausage/bacon (and it's honestly a big gripe for me when a breakfast place doesn't have them). It's a pretty straightforward sandwich but it tasted great, and the bagel was actually so good - very impressive for a place not specializing in bagels. My Thai iced coffee was also great. Our food and drinks came out very quickly - you order up at the front, then the drinks are put out on the side of the bar and the food is brought to your table. I came to Shoredog Cafe today in hopes of hunkering down to finish some work in a bright, open space with reliable internet and ample plugs + a delicious lunch. Shoredog delivered on the internet, bright space, and ample plugs front, but failed in the eats category, unfortunately. I ordered the arugula salad, but was a little confused when my salad was mostly regular lettuce and very little arugula. I switched the dressing from the mustard that it came with to the roasted garlic dressing that I saw was paired with some other salads. To say I was disappointed in the salad would be an understatement. It just didn't work. The salad dressing was straight mayonnaise with no garlic flavor. The roasted tomatoes had a really strange, deep flavor. The only thing I really liked about the salad was the bacon, which I added in place of avocado. I also ordered a chai tea latte, though, which was great. I think I just chose the wrong thing. None of the other salads appealed to me, but next time I'd love to come in and try a few of the sandwiches. read more

First time at this establishment and menu looked great but when I went inside to place my order they said no dogs inside, only outside. I said no problem, would you rather I order here quick or outside. The woman at the counter said I could tie my dog outside. I explained I was alone and not comfortable leaving my dog alone and she said that was their policy and no one would take my order inside or outside with a small 25 pound dog. Came to Shoredog yesterday for lunch with my grandmother. Had been meaning to come for awhile since I live so close it it. It's a cute little spot. Very open and bright. Huge cafe vibes. Not exactly table service. They also have outdoor seating which I wish we had gotten. I think the most of the menu was sandwich's , wraps and coffees. I had ordered the tuckahoe sandwich and a water cup. The water is like warm.. I'd suggest asking for an ice cup. The service was pretty quick. The portions were good size. The only thing I didn't love about the tuckahoe was that I'm pretty sure they used an entire halved tomato on each side. Like I love tomatoes but that was a bit overwhelming and I found that I just ended up taking it out and ripping the whole center apart. I'll be back for sure. Take it easy on the tomato. read more

Shoredog is a super cute cafe in the West End. I frequent here for breakfast with my mom but decided to go for lunch today instead. The ambiance is light with local artwork for sale covering the walls so I'd definitely recommend it as a study spot. They serve lamplighter coffee which is great and the service is on the quicker side. I got the tomato soup and a goat cheese and arugula salad (add shrimp). Both were wonderful and great portion sizes. My only complaint was the shrimp was served cold which I didn't realize when I ordered. My family and I were there after church as we had just tried it for the first time the previous week. I have no complaints about the food or drink as those are quite good. This is the service industry, so some attention and practices should also be spent on that. It might seem minor, but after a nice brunch there, and spending nearly $70, my wife was told "no" on a sweet tea refill as we were leaving. Yes they only refill once or twice, but it's a sweet tea and it isn't like we had been there all morning/afternoon on our laptops like other patrons in there eating up space/time, and we spent a good chunk of change for the type of food they serve there. Beautiful, clean, airy and austere, reminiscent for sure of a beach, this little cafe is serene but has what you need for breakfast and more! Graduate and I both had the power bowl, and I followed her lead and added avocado and goat cheese to a warm bowl of quinoa, kale, and poached egg. Amazingly flavorful and delicious. My 9yo and I had a couple of hours between drop off and pick up at NOVA. We needed a new breakfast place. We yelpled Shoredog and it was delicious. In the parking lot was a big black dog with a tutu from the spa next door. We knew this place would be a hit! First impression was this was a cool place. Pretty chill coffee house. Sam took our order. It was her first order and she rocked it! Super sweet and attentive. We ordered the breakfast of champions and a custom omelette. As an aside, my 9yo wants everyone to know that the cactus on the table was a great addition to our breakfast ambiance. Breakfast of champions - he got scrambled eggs, potatoes and English muffin. 5 stars! Omelette-white cheddar, mushroom, onion, bacon, sausage. The omelette was awesome. Perfectly cooked and the ingredients were perfectly mixed. One of the best I have had. 9yo wants everyone to know that the apple juice was incredible as well! Coffee was excellent as well. Cute local cafe! The inside is very open and warming. This place is great for ice cream (Homestead Ice creamery), coffee and limited food choices. I've had the BLT and chicken panini sandwiches. It comes with kettle chips and a pickle. Both sandwiches I've had before were really good! OMG. I am so glad we found this place. We celebrated my fiancés birthday dinner with another couple on a late December Saturday. The space is open and bright with eclectic artwork in the walls. It's quiet enough for easy conversation, but has a hip vibe about it. While Shoredog seems to be most known for breakfast and lunch, I highly recommend it for dinner. There's a decent, affordable wine list and a great menu of wonderful food. We had the Brussels sprouts appetizer and they were some of the best I've ever had. I am writing this review two months after we dined and I still remember them. I had the bistro steak which was delicious. Everyone at our table loved their food. Service was welcoming and attentive. Dinner for four with cocktails, wine, shared appetizers and four entrees was about $180 including tax and 20 percent gratuity. read more
