Stopped here on a whim when a local Lebanese festival was way too crowded and managed to find a gem. Razmi, our host, is amazingly friendly and provides consistently excellent service. A lot of people appear to get takeout because the food is both delicious and authentic, but if you choose to eat in, it feels like you're eating at a friend's house where Mom is churning out the dishes, and they are hot and delicious. The shawarma, hummus, and flatbread are all highlights of the fare here, and they also have some of the best falafel I've ever tasted. It's great for take out, for sure, but if you want food straight from the kitchen with quick and friendly service, it's the best. If I have one note, it's that they could use a broader selection of fountain drinks, and if they ever expand, perhaps add an alcohol license to serve beer and wine. I did carry out but you are able to sit inside or out if you so choose. The wait staff were wearing masks. While the kitchen is open and you can watch, I didn't pay attention as to whether cook staff were wearing masks or not. The food! So good! The hummus and babaganoush that came with my falafel were delicious! The smoky flavor with the eggplant was the best I've ever had. Falafel was good, tad hard on the outside to the nice moist inside. OK another one of those "stop, drop and write" reviews for a fledgling business with HUGE potential. Shawarma Bistro is the newest Mediterranean restaurant to hit the Richmond area, and this is nothing to take lightly, since we are talking authentic, fresh, and very reasonable for the amount of food you get. Of course, food of this nature needs to be eaten slowly and savored, from the huge pieces of chicken in their shawarma plate, to the grape leaves that transport you to Santorini. I also have to say that for $9.99 I got three HUGE pieces of lamb and beef kufta (think gyro meat, but rolled into gigantic logs), rice, fresh pita, and I will be eating the other half of it tomorrow for lunch. So cheap we were able to splurge on some authentic hummus that was a perfect foil for the pita. When you buy hummus at the supermarket, you only wish it tasted like this, perfectly spiced and laden with olive oil and chickpeas. As far as the whole pick up process was concerned, their website makes it quick and easy, and they were certainly practicing all levels of proper restaurant hygiene in our pandemic predicament. And their one of the few west end food joints that are open after 9PM on the weekends! Now I know I made you hungry, so check out this spankingly new and clean shawarma joint, and save some baba ganoush for me. My boyfriend and I gave this place a try last night for dinner and it was AMAZING. We both got the lamb + beef wrap. We were both in awe at how delicious it was. Also very generous serving sizes. We recently saw this Shawarma place and decided to try it today - it did not disappoint! My favorite was the spicy cheesy beef and lamb shawarma; it was amazing! Perfect combo of spice, tender meats and who love doesn't love a pickle? I got the chicken shawarma plate, the only thing I'd recommend is getting a sauce with it since the chicken can be a little dry by itself - but the fries were seasoned and delicious. Had the rice, peta bread, and Chicken Kebab. 3 food items tasted great, but I wish the rice was seasoned a bit even though it was good anyways. I wish I had more veggies for the chicken Kebab because there were less veggies. Would come here again, but to try a different dish to see more of what the restaurant has to offer. My husband was craving Shawarma and wanted to stop here for lunch. I'm so glad we did! It was amazing. We had the lamb and beef Shawarma sandwich and a side of tabouli. You actually saw them slice the meat straight off the rotisserie! It was seasoned perfectly, cooked to perfection and tasted phenomenal! The tabouli was super fresh. It was probably the best I've ever had! It had lots of greens, just the right amount of bulgur wheat and flavor. I always prefer more green than bulgur wheat and that's exactly how it was. My friends call me the kabob connoisseur so I'm always pumped to discover a new spot nearby. I ordered the lamb/beef kufta sandwich today and I made up my mind I wouldn't like it as soon as I discovered it was served in a tortilla. At this price point I was hoping to be served on a fresh piece of bread straight from the tandoori oven. I took one bite and my pallet just wouldn't allow me to be disappointed. Delicious. The food was really delicious I will go back for sure. I took off one star because the online ordering was very confusing and caused us to order more food than necessary. Here's why: When you click on an entree (chicken kabab for ex) It just says Chicken kabab -no other explanation, then you then get a list of sides to choose 2 from. I chose a side of baba ghannouj and pita, I thought i had to order (and pay extra for) garlic sauce and grilled tomatoes as extra sides since i really wanted those too. (they come with most kababs at other restaurants so i was confused) Well turns out the entree already came with the tomatoes, garlic sauce and pita. So i paid extra for something i was already getting. They need to fix this. Be clear what each entree comes with on the online ordering app and delete those things from the choices of sides. read more

Delicious food and great service. What more could you want in a restaurant? I usually order the fattoush salad, hummus, and stuffed grape leaves. My mouth is watering just thinking about it. Location is practically by itself in an older strip mall but went on the recommendation of several people from Facebook. The pictures do it justice and the food was amazing! Got the lamb and beef shawarma sandwich and it was absolutely delicious, also tried the chicken shawarma sandwich which was also very good. I was really craving hummus and fresh pita bread so I looked up some local Mediterranean restaurants. Shawarma Bistro was one of the first restaurants that popped up. I would call it a hidden gem. It's located in somewhat of a deserted shopping center. When I walked in I was greeted nicely by one of the hosts who handed me a menu and took my Togo order. I ordered the chicken kabob with fries and hummus as my two sides and ordered pita bread on the side as well. My food was ready promptly and the pita bread was hot and fresh! The order indicated that a side of pita bread should come with 4 pieces but I only got 2 so I walked back in and they fixed it right away. The hummus was really good. Fries were good. And the chicken kabob was tasty - only one of my pieces was a little burnt but I didn't mind once I dipped it in the garlic sauce. The restaurant is a little out of the way for me but if I'm on that side of town I would definitely go again! read more

I seen the advertisement on Yelp and figured I try it out as Mediterranean food is one of my favorite cuisines. We were taken to our seats as soon as we entered which was a good thing. Our seat however was near the restrooms, which gave a sour smell to where we were seated. The waitress was very knowledgeable of menu items, but said she was unable to accommodate us with a different seat. I later went to the restrooms to find it very unsanitary, which parts of the porcelain were no longer white from a lack of cleaning. The food did not taste bad, but was adequate. The chicken and beef/lamb was mostly buried with salt prior to being cooked, having very little flavor other than being salty. The serving sizes were pretty gratuitous which I did enjoy and had to leave with a to-go box. Unfortunately, the meat did cause an odor in my vehicle that forced me to throw the to-go box away. read more

Each of the three of us chose a different create your own shawarma plate and each person was super happy with taste and portion (LOTS of food). I've been missing shawarma cooked this way for years. Went to Shawarma Bistro for it's opening night. Very nice and clean on the inside and waitstaff and owner were very welcoming and attentive to me and my wife. We ordered an appetizer of grape leaves with entree of lamb and beef shawarma and falafel sandwich. Everything came out in a timely fashion and portions were great. You can tell everything is cooked fresh and the flavors were great. Overall we were very happy with our visit, we were able to eat for around $30 which is a rarity now a days. Great find! Great Food. This is the a small hole in the wall, but don't let if fool you. The Food is out of this world. Loved it. If you find this place go in and order something. The warm pitas are the best. The butter chicken is great and so is the chicken sharmaw. Well worth it. Trying to find a way to get there again. I live in Mechanicsville and it was worth the drive.
