Back again, fantastic as always. Our server Brandon was knowledgeable, friendly, and attentive. Started with fried green tomatoes, one of our favorite appetizers. They're so good! I had the braised beef short ribs, which were melt-in-your -mouth. Paired with garlic mashed potatoes, roasted root veg, and some of the best collard greens I've ever had. He had the fried chicken with hot honey, garlic mashed potatoes, and more collard greens. That fried chicken was so crispy and delicious. Had the peach cobbler bread pudding for dessert, and it was an EXPERIENCE. The only thing that would have made the meal better was some of the slab bacon, but we'll know to come for breakfast or lunch for that next time! read more

We came here on Saturday evening, around seven o'clock. The parking lot had plenty of spaces near the restaurant. Upon entering, the hostess greeted us and, at our request, seated us outside because it was a beautiful day. The restaurant venue and ambiance were modern and well kept. The bathroom was clean and nice. The outside seating area was also fairly clean with comfortable seating. Our server (neither my partner nor I caught her name as she said it: she had beautiful braids with blonde streaks woven in) started on the right foot, took our orders promptly, and brought out our waters. I ordered the Smothered Pork Chop, and my partner chose the Fried Chicken, subbed pimento mac and cheese for the collard greens (who can blame her?). The food did not come out promptly. My best guess is that our server was seated with a large table and prioritized a better tip over the two top (us) outside. Eventually, the food came out (~25 minutes, so not terrible), but for the number of patrons in the restaurant, it was too long. My partner's mashed potatoes were cold, but she said the fried chicken and mac and cheese were fantastic. The potatoes tasted delicious, but they were simply not warm. My pork chop was very thick, like a filet, which is okay, but it wasn't what I expected. I prefer a thin pork chop, so that it cooks all the way through (more solid, not soft). It was passable. The beans and rice (Hoppin' John) were also not what I was expecting; I was thinking more New Orleans-style, but they were bland, like cream of mushroom soup on unseasoned beans and rice. We ordered the banana pudding for dessert. We ended up waiting for that for ~20 minutes as well, a half-pint glass of banana pudding with underripe bananas mixed in. Note to the chef: heat ripens bananas, so you could toss a few in a skillet with a little oil in a pinch (egg yolks also work). We waited for another 10 minutes, and I finally went inside and asked the hostess for the check. I realize it is difficult to serve, but you must also consider asking your colleagues for help if you have too much going on. All in all, the food was satisfactory, but the service was lacking. We ended up waiting an hour longer than we should have had to. I semi-recommend Farm and Oak, but look to be seated with the better server, John. He and the hostess saved our experience. read more

Food and service is good but you need to be aware that they automatically add a 20% tip, which appears on your bill as a "Service Charge" and our waitress never mentioned this and I almost added an additional tip. I noticed the bill from the table next to us and in addition to their $17 plus change "Service Fee" they left a $22 tip, so in the end they ended up leaving a $39 tip, very unscrupulous of this establishment, that's why I gave them a one star review and won't be returning. read more

Salad was a great value. Large tasty and the light balsamic dressing was prefect. Really loved the fried Brussel Sprouts and fried Green Tomatoes. Love this little gem! We were able to sit on the patio but if you wanted specific indoor seating you do need a reservation. The music outside and the vibe was chill. Went to Farm and Oak to celebrate my sister's graduation. At first, everything was great. The food was good and our waiter provided good service throughout the meal. When it came time to pay, our party decided to leave the tip in cash. We collected the money and gave it to a relative at our table, who then handed the tip to our waiter. We felt he deserved a tip based on the service he provided. As we were leaving the restaurant, we encountered the waiter outside. He was talking to himself and said, "n****s broke." My mother asked, "Who broke?" and he responded, "Y'all broke ass family can't even leave me a tip." I was shocked because we had in fact left him a cash tip. I went back inside to address the situation and told him we had tipped him. Instead of handling the misunderstanding professionally, he continued arguing and insulting us. The issue isn't the tip amount--we tipped him because we appreciated the service. The issue is the disrespect and unprofessional behavior that followed. No customer should be spoken to that way, especially while celebrating a special occasion with family. I hope management takes this matter seriously because this experience completely overshadowed what should have been a memorable celebration for my sister's graduation. read more

I brought my father here for a Father's Day dinner, and I was really looking forward to it. I know this is the sister location to Lillie Pearl, so I planned on ordering my usual dishes and had some recommendations for my father. Simply put, the food was not up to par with what I've come to expect at Lillie Pearl, even though the menu items are the same. The short rib egg rolls were bland. Literally, they tasted like nothing. The Brussels sprouts were decent. My father ordered the short rib entrée, and while he thought it was decent, I tried it and again found it not up to par. The desserts were decent enough, but the banana pudding which usually has caramelized bananas on top in addition to the candied nuts did not taste the same. The bananas were mushy and brown, mixed throughout the pudding, and there were none on top, only the nuts. This was our first time at Farm and Oak. We are big fans of Lilly Pearl and this is very similar (same owners). The restaurant is nice and open and tables aren't right on top of each other. There is a small bar area and outdoor space (although it was about 10099 degrees outside so nobody was out there). We started with the short rib egg rolls, beet and burrata salad and the smoked wings. The salad was HUGE and delicious. The beets and radishes were pickled and the candied walnuts a nice sweet crunch. The egg rolls were amazing. The smoked wings were a little to heavily seasoned for me but my husband loved them. My husband had the shrimp and grits and it was so good. The grits were the definition of comfort creamy yumminess. The pork belly bits were a nice touch. I had the catfish with hoppin john. The catfish was blackened and again a little too seasoned for me. The sauce was great. The service was very attentive and spot on. Overall a great place with wonderful food! read more

I came to Farm and Oak late one night during a work trip. This establishment was the only restaurant within many miles of my hotel that was open late at night-- and boy, was I thankful for that! After a long day of traveling, this meal was exactly what I needed. Farm and Oak is a clean restaurant with accommodating staff. I have a shellfish allergy, and when staff takes the extra steps to make sure that I am safe, it means a whole lot to me; and that's exactly what Farm and Oak did for me! Since a good chunk of the menu contains shellfish, I ordered the Crispy Skin Salmon, the Charred Heirloom Carrots, and the Fried Brussel Sprouts. The Salmon was perfectly cooked and the sauce that it came with was divine. I felt that the arugula, corn, tomato combo did not pair right with the fish itself. The carrots were amazing- no notes here- simply amazing. Now, as for the brussel sprouts, it was a huge serving and had some major kick to the 'Asian sticky sauce'. I really wanted to order the Cauliflower Steaks and the Roasted Beets, however they were out. The price point of the food was quite high in my opinion. My husband and I went here for supper on a Thursday night. We started with the fried green tomatoes with chow chow and ranch. They were very unique, spicy and tangy. I chose the crab cakes, and my husband had the short rib with mashed potatoes and roasted vegetables. Everything was absolutely delicious. The portions are generous, but not ridiculous. We each left only a few bites on our plates because we were full. The service was very friendly, and staff were very willing to answer our questions. We recently visited Farm Oak, which now occupies the space where Natalie's Taste of Libano used to be. There was no wait when we arrived, and we were pleasantly surprised by how spacious the restaurant is. It features a full bar and even has a separate room that looks perfect for events or private gatherings. The menu isn't very large, which we actually appreciated, as it made it easier to choose. We started with the pork belly appetizer. It was good overall, though the barbecue sauce was a bit heavy for our taste--we ended up removing some of it. That said, the corn that came with it was outstanding--full of flavor and probably the highlight of the meal. We also tried the cauliflower "steak." It's essentially roasted cauliflower with a tomato-based sauce and some spices. It wasn't bad, just not particularly memorable for us. After finishing our dishes, we paid and left. While the food might be better suited for a different palate, we're still glad we gave Farm Oak a try. It's a nice space with potential, and we hope it finds its audience. read more

Went in for lunch on a Monday and everything was so good! I got the og chicken sandwich and it was delicious! The chicken was fresh and crispy and the batter well seasoned. My mom got the cordon blue sandwich and she said it was really yummy! The star of the show was the peach cobbler bread pudding it was piping hot, the peaches sweet and the bread pudding was crisp on the outside but soft and fluffy on the inside it was the perfect way to end the meal. Wow, what a find! My husband and I were on one of our road trips and stopped for the night near Richmond. We always look for small local restaurants with regional food. It was late and Farm and Oak is open late so that's what we chose. First of all our server Hannah greeted us with a smile and was terrific. We started with the fried Brussels sprouts and a wedge salad, both excellent. The Brussels sprouts came in a large bowl, it could have been an entire meal. My husband had the fried chicken and I had the short ribs. They both came with collard greens and mashed potatoes. Mine came with a delicious mixture of roasted vegetables. Farm and Oak is advertised as a spinoff of Lillie Pearl. I find them to be almost identical. Their menus and execution are practically the same. The food and cocktails are great. The fried brussels sprouts are my favorite. They're so flavorful and I don't typically ever order brussels. The pimento mac and cheese is surprisingly too cheesy for me. We ordered the banana pudding to go and it smelled sour so we suspect it went bad. The service could be better as it was hard to get water refilled. Some entrees are a bit pricey but you do get a reasonable portion. Overall, it's a great option for date night or a special occasion. read more

I visited for a late lunch with some colleagues. It was the perfect time to go (about 2pm) because there was only one other party in the restaurant. Everything I tasted was delectable, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. No complaints whatsoever. If you've been to Lillie Pearl and Buttermilk & Honey, think of Farm & Oak as an amalgamation of the two but with better parking than downtown. Friendly and fast service, tasty drinks, and great atmosphere. The restrooms are quite small, though. With only two stalls in the women's restroom, one was out of order and the other was being...compromised. The men's sole stall (don't ask me how I know) had a toilet that was covered in lots of...brown. I had to go elsewhere to release the delicious old fashioned I drank here. read more

What a treat it was catching up with some friends and trying out my first Lindsey Food Group restaurant! We even got to meet the Lindsey's while we were there, and both were so welcoming and kind We were extremely satisfied with our orders (and my friends with their drinks). This for sure won't be our last time here. My main order was the Farm & oak burger and it had such a great char and seasoned so well. I ate the whole thing before I knew it, and usually with burgers like this, I get through about half and then start to slow down. The short rib eggrolls was a great appetizer and I enjoyed the balance of the arugula & pickled onion salad to the cheesy, fried egg rolls. I tried one of my friend's smoked chicken wings & it was light and crispy even with the sauce. I can't speak on the roasted brussel sprouts because having brussel sprouts twice a week would be too much for me, but friends enjoyed it. My friend and I saw an ad on Instagram for the opening of the new Farm and Oak on Cox Rd. We decided to check it out and the restaurant was trendy , bright and open. We were greeted immediately and sat swiftly. Our server was nice and attentive and knew about the menu and the tastes of the food. I got the Lillie Burger it was smash type burger that was well seasoned cooked well and tasty.I chose the Coleslaw as a side but didn't like the taste so switched to the French fries and they were well cooked and crunchy. My friend got the Deli club. It was huge and she said it tasted good and one slice was quite filling. She also got the red velvet Oreo cake to go.
