Great find! Great Food. This is the a small hole in the wall, but don't let if fool you. The Food is out of this world. Loved it. If you find this place go in and order something. The warm pitas are the best. The butter chicken is great and so is the chicken sharmaw. Well worth it. Trying to find a way to get there again. I live in Mechanicsville and it was worth the drive. Went to Shawarma Bistro for it's opening night. Very nice and clean on the inside and waitstaff and owner were very welcoming and attentive to me and my wife. We ordered an appetizer of grape leaves with entree of lamb and beef shawarma and falafel sandwich. Everything came out in a timely fashion and portions were great. You can tell everything is cooked fresh and the flavors were great. Overall we were very happy with our visit, we were able to eat for around $30 which is a rarity now a days. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for great Mediterranean food in Richmond. read more

I could eat here all the days, it's so tasty. My husband loves their spicy chicken wrap. Their garlic sauce is awesome, their hummus is super creamy, their chicken shawarma is so delicious, the ones on the fries are out of this world and you should eat them. Their chicken kabobs are also yummy. We haven't had a bad meal here for anything we've tried. Good eclectic version of middle-East food. Everything was light on spices, which is fine for most American palates. The lamb/beef scwarma didn't come with a sauce, but was tasty and of good quality. The hot bread starter was very good with the sesame za'tar dipping sauce. They only had water and Pepsi products, which meant no ice tea. Should add that since we are in the South. Was so excited to see the "coming soon" sign and now I've been! Amazing food that is fresh, homemade, generously portioned. The staff is super friendly and the prices are right. We got the Chicken Shawarma pizza. My entire family gobbled it up and we want more already. My younger son even said that it was "super, super good" which means a lot given he's a bit of a picky eater. He loved it. We also got a Half and Half sandwich which was chicken and lamb. Delicious chunks of meat, a spread or cheese of some sort, some pickled veggies....perfection. We also had the falafels which are the best I've ever had, so crispy and tons of flavor. I was surprised by how much I liked them. Lastly, we had the chicken shawarma fries - HUGE order of food! We each ate twice still had some leftover. Oh my goodness, their food is out of this world delicious! So fresh! I live out of town and discovered the SB a couple of months ago. Today I had the grape leaves and an order of falafel, my husband had the lamb burger and fries. We also had the jakik. This meal was prepared with care. Had dinner there last night New restaurant to us we live other side of town. Locally owned place opened in 2020 is surviving COVID The meals and sides were excellent service was great and fast We ordered lamb beef shawarma plate and same sandwich , hot and freshly prepared. Crispy falafel appetizer with some pickled vegetables yummy. The baba ganoush was killer almost Smokey. With the Arab salad and the fresh bread and herb evo dip. We have been eager to try this place and stopped by on Friday night. Only one other table was seated and the restaurant appears to do a large take out business. We were greeted quickly and seated. Betsy was our server and she was personable and eager to answer any questions we had. She checked on us frequently and asked if we would like dessert. I ordered the combination shawarma platter (chicken and beef) with tabouli and fries. My husband ordered the beef shawarma platter. Star of the show was the hot, pillowy pita bread that is served right from the oven with a sesame oil. Yum! Our entrees arrived quickly. A generous portion of shawarma was served requiring me to ask for a box later. The fries were outstanding. The tabouli was mainly parsley (would have liked more bulgar wheat), but tasty. I found my meats to be perfectly seasoned, yet a bit dry, possibly because they were shaved into such small pieces. My husband really enjoyed his beef shawarma. We will definitely be back to try other menu items. Lastly, the restaurant automatically adds 15% gratuity to the bill. You can add more if you desire. read more

Exceptional little place for good Mediterranean/Lebanese food. We love the spicy beef/lamb shawarma which is just mouthwatering. The flavor is close to some of the shawarmas I have had in the Middle East. Their spicy chicken shawarma, falafels and kibbeh is also great. Fantastic spot and family atmosphere. I always bring my two kids and wife to enjoy some family time and some delicious food. I love the open kitchen theme, you can see the guys working so hard to put together the deliciousness front of you. Far out on Richmond's west end in a near empty shopping center, Shawarma Bistro is a hidden gem. Though I had heard that the food was good, I was slow to visit -- first, because it is a good 20 min from my home, and second because my perception was that it was just a carry-out place. Spending 40 min on the road -- 20 min out and 20 min back -- only to have tepid food gone soggy in a styrofoam container didn't seem too appealing. But was I ever mistaken. What first alerted me that my perception might be wrong was when I spied those large outdoor heaters on their patio. That was a clear indicator that they were not simply a carry-out place. So, one Friday evening, I trekked out to sample their cuisine. I was not disappointed. Though small, the place offers around a half-dozen tables inside and another four or five outside. I was greeted by a very friendly hostess, who remained cheerful and attentive throughout my visit. Since this was my first visit, I opted for their signature dish -- shawarma. I ordered their half-and-half: half beef and lamb and half chicken shawarma along with tabbouleh and baba ghannouj as sides. Prior to the arrival of the entrée, the waitress/hostess brought a fresh, hot puffed up pita with a small container of olive oil and that wonderful herb mix za'atar. When my order arrived, I was surprised by the very generous serving size. At just a tad over $20 (with a soda and tax) this was a fantastic deal. But even then, they went beyond expectations. There were a few strips of pickles and pink pickled turnip and a small container of that wonderful yogurt, cucumber and garlic concoction called jajik. To be honest, I wasn't totally floored by the tabbouleh and baba ghannouj. It was very good, but I've had better. However, the shawarma -- both types -- was out of this world, and I've traveled to parts of the world where this dish is common. Really, really remarkable! Though it's been a while, this ranks among some of the best I've had. Pros: Fantastic main dishes and super friendly waitresses. Cons: Not so much 'cons' as suggestions. First, maybe a few touches to make the interior a little cozier. Dimmer lighting and maybe a few wall decorations. Also, a few Turkish or Lebanese wine offerings would be nice, though I understand the trials of ABC licensing. In short, many kudos, especially since the place emerged during what has to be the most difficult year for new restaurants in living memory! read more

Amazing food. I have been here 4 times and it is my new favorite restaurant in the richmond area. Always good food and the servings are large. Would highly recommend to anyone!
