There were so many options to choose from inside of the Midtown Beer Garden food truck pod, but Shawarma house caught my eye. I like Mediterranean food and gyros because it tastes yummy, it's refreshing, and it's a well balanced meal! They offer over 30 items on their menu, including a few sides. I opted for #13 which is the lamb plate because it looked delicious based off of the menu picture. What I got was slightly different from what was displayed because the meat is not made the same way, however it was still yummy! The rice was cooked kind of al dente and it also had different colors to it. The colors were ranging from white, yellow, and bright orange which was interesting. I ate everything up, and basically licked the hummus and tzatziki sauce from the plate until it was clean. I was satisfied with the meal. Service was relatively fast the worker was nice. After placing the order, you are given a buzzer. I went 1 hour after they opened on a Monday and I got my food within 10 minutes. Also, there are a lot of cute pigeons in the seating area, so watch out where you sit! read more

Okay, love, love, LOVEEE this food truck! The owner is fantastic with his customers! So kind and will definitely make you want to come back. We both ordered chicken shawarma plates and all of it was so good. Plus enough for multiple meals. Grabbed a spot to eat and the owner came over with falafel which was the best I've ever had. Not to mention, he threw in a free chicken wrap for us. Seriously? Ya don't get that kind of service and friendliness often anymore. Shawarma House is the truck ya want!! read more

The dishes are delicious and well-portioned for the price. Nothing is a miss! Their Falafels have a nice outer crisp and pair well with the creamy hummus and fragrant naan. My partner's Beef Over Fries is pretty solid too. We have an enjoyable meal and go home with a lot of leftovers. read more

We visited over the weekend based on some reviews we saw online. Shawarma house has a massive selection of entrees, but we went with the lamb over fries and were not dissapointed at all. We did have friends that seemed not to like lamb over rice so I would keep that in mind if you decide to visit Service is good as you would expect for a food truck nothing bad about it at all Plenty of seating around and there are heaters if it's cold that day which we appreciated. There's a ton of additional options if shawarma isn't for you. read more

Yelp says this place is permanently closed, but it's not! This amazing food truck is in an area with a bunch of other food trucks so lots of options to choose from but shawarma house is definitely the truck to try. Food came out quick and was fresh and tasty! We got the lamb over fries and it was the best call we made. My friends got the chicken and lamb saj which they said was flavorful as well! Portion size is pretty good. The lamb with the different sauces on top of the fries hit the spot. Would definitely recommend stopping here! They had covered seating with heat lamps as well. read more

Grabbed a gyro on my lunch break. The owners were friendly and accommodating, my order came out quick, the gyro was delicious and fresh and the size of my head (And I have a big head). I made an absolute mess of myself trying to eat it but it was well worth it I'll definitely be coming by again. read more

This is our first here, we've been meaning to stop by, when we passed by a few months ago. We were heading to Black Bear restaurant, when we pulled in the parking lot, I spotted CORE, and remembered: I wanted to try this new pod! It's Sunday, there weren't many opened, but the first one we spotted I already knew I wanted to eat at Shawarma. I picked Lamb Wrap, hubby picked Giant Gyros. I went back in the car, it's much warmer and safer. It didn't take long, when hubby came back with our food. We picnicked in the car. I was shocked, how long it was! (It could have been cut in half like in the photo). By the time, I ate half, it started to drip, and I caught it just in the nick of time, so it didn't go on my nice, church clothes! Flavor was good, but, absolutely no produce on it. The menu said lettuce, tomato, pickles, and onion. There was a pickle in there, but zero lettuce or tomato. I think I detected an onion, but maybe one little piece. Not sure if I'm missing something or what. But I love a shawarma loaded with produce, and the photos look nothing like what I got. read more

YUMMY!!! This place has one, if not THE BEST lamb gyro in Portland. For reference, I'm comparing this to the Moonlight Mediterranean Food Cart just a few minutes away which also has reaaaally good lamb gyro. You MUST try the lamb gyro here. I never used to eat lamb but I took a leap of faith to try both this place and Moonlight Mediterranean and they have both converted me to being believers LOL. read more

We split a chicken shawarma, it was absolutely delicious and was like an explosion of flavors. The garlic aioli was fantastic and complimented the wrap very well. Not to mention the price for the portion that we got was unbeatable. Two of us shared the Classic - loaded with tender chicken, it was just great! We did not need their hot sauce, as everything was welk seasoned and a juice lemon wax included to squeeze over it all. We weren't sure it was enuf food for I r 2 when ordering so we got tasty Pot Stickers and Seaweed Roll from the cart next door. Bargain lunch for 2, with Tske Home. A Pint of Bend's 8.1% Belgian Tripel (indoors at HH price) was also a sweet treat. Our last visit we shared a bowl from another cart. Also worth a return! read more

OKAY, THIS PLACE WAS THE BOMB!!! We got the lamb gyros, a chicken gyro, and the falafel platter, and fries (the fries are huge...so you only need one!). Get a side of the garlic sauce for the fries Nothing disappointed! And it was freezing outside, so we ate inside the Garden Tavern (they allow all food trucks patrons to eat in there...so grab a beer while you're there ). YUM!!!! read more

Series: Eating Out While Black. I came to a conference and was too tired to think or leave my room. I had Shawarma Express delivered. I got the double chicken and it was so tasty. Really great gyro! Meat had awesome flavor, everything tasted fresh. Dolmas were also very good. Hummus was a little too tahini heavy for me, but that's not necessarily a bad thing for everyone. Baklava was a little on the dry side and kinda fell apart. Overall a really good meal though. I would definitely eat here again. read more

Shawarma Express is delicious! I'm excited to have discovered this spot because it's much closer to me and I no longer need to go all the way downtown when I'm craving Mediterranean/halal cuisine. We ordered the chicken plate + falafel plate and their plates are generous! We were able to have it for both lunch and dinner that day. Their saffron rice is probably the best I've tried here in Portland - so fragrant and fluffy. The chicken is flavored well and their falafels were incredible - so light and crispy. We came here for a late lunch on a Sunday and waited only about 10-15 minutes for our order. Prices are very reasonable for the amount of food you receive and for the quality as well. The food cart itself is tucked away in a food pod right off Williams - there's a few street parking spaces right out front but you can also park on the cross streets. This food truck has the best shawarma! The Falafel was amazing plus the garlic sauce is so good! The owner gave us free taste of the falafel and my 7 y/o daughter asked for more. I had the shawarma over salad ( has big portion) and husband had the lamb shawarma, we both loved it. We had shawarma last night and Shawarma House has much better taste.
