Perfect weather, perfect view, perfect places for a winery. **Yelpers check in for coupon** Top of a hill overlooking the lake. Parking is a little cramped but we were able to get a good spot. There is a little place at the top of the hill. You can get food. We were there on a Saturday. The place was very busy. They don't do tastings in this room so we headed down the hill to the tasting room. We had a big group but the server was great at keeping up with the options that we wanted. The wine i got try was really good. The bride to be in our party ended up getting a couple bottles. We also got to sit and enjoy a glass. All the staff was really nice and helpful. Sarah was absolutely the best . We had dinner reservations next door and decided to stop here for before dinner drinks. We had the tasting room to ourselves and Sarah was very knowledgeable and engaging with all of us. She had several recommendations and wanted to know our likes and dislikes. We never felt rushed or like we were a bother to her. The tasting room was rustic and felt like you were at a friend's house. Great spot with beautiful views of lake and bridge. We came for a late lunch after spa appointments and were quite hungry. We had sparkling wine along with sandwiches, salads and appetizers. We had pretzels, bruschetta and peach and Gouda toast, salads and turkey BLT. Everything tasted good. Server was friendly and patient with us as we were hungry and particular, lol. I had the chance to see some amazing views up at Shawnee Bluff. I had ordered some chicken alfredo pizza but wasn't able to take any pictures because I had finished half the pizza before the thought crossed my mind to share with all of you. I would highly recommend their specialty pizzas and flatbreads. Also give there sparkling bluff wine a try, you won't regret it! You can't tell driving up, as you pull in off the street, but once you get to the outdoor seating area, you're right up along the water, with majestic views in both directions. The wine is good too. I'm no expert on wine, but both reds that I got were good (plus check in on yelp for $5 off) They also have some food options. Our table got a few apps, they all looked good. Plus also some beer and cocktail options for those that don't like wine. There's also wine slushies that looked cool and several people in my party ordered. Our servers were nice and efficient. We always have the best experience at Shawnee Bluff! There have been times when the service is a tad slow, but everyone is always friendly and the view more than makes up for the wait! There is often live music and the musicians have great talent! They have a different flavor of wine slushy each week, and all of the flavors I have tried have been great! We had a great view and our server was very friendly. Sitting in the deck with a view of the lake was a great place to have lunch. We started with an appetizer of soft pretzels and beer cheese. Our 5 year old granddaughter was with us and they brought out her PBJ first. We ordered salads and pizza for our meal. It would have been better to get the salads before the pizza , instead of with it. They have a wood fired oven and the chicken Alfredo pizza was great! I would never have thought to put a balsamic reduction on pizza, but it works great. We had two different wines with our meal, preferring the vingoles over the catawba. Our only concern with the experience was the time it took to get our order, we overheard other tables as well talking about the time to get their orders. If I got paid a nickel for every time I've said that... seriously, my piggy bank would be full. ;) Shawnee Bluff Winery is a very well thought out establishment (one of three, actually.) It doesn't matter if it's raining, hot or cold-- it can accommodate. It boasts an indoor tasting room and bistro, as well as an outdoor patio and decks with amazing views of the Lake of the Ozarks. The bistro was super cute and intimate with a well stocked bar (so if wine isn't your thing, no worries!) The tasting room had plenty of seating, was reasonably priced and had very knowledgeable, kind service. My only complaint were the pours were a bit smaller then I had hoped. The patio with a view, tiki bar and pool is where it's at people! I'd spend plenty of time there if I could. The wine was enjoyable? I came in with very low expectations and left pleasantly surprised. Most of their grapes were from California and Washington, with a few wines made from Missouri sources. The stars for me were actually their two frozen wines sold in-house. One a mixed berry purée mixed with a red. Another a peach purée mixed with sauvignon blanc. SUMMER PERFECTION. A Frosé has nothing on them... which is saying something! While I didn't eat, their firestone pizza looked legit. (They had a massive wood burning oven outside!) And I love that their menu featured a three wine and cheese pairing. I'll definitely give both of these food options a taste next time I stop by. It's a winery in the MIDWEST people!! My grandma was here last year and told us we had to check it out next time we were in town. We went in to sample their wines. You can get 4 samples complementary then it's $5 per sample. Most of the wines we tried, we liked. Favorites were: Bipolar, I'm a Sweetie Too and the Casa Cooler (their most popular. It's a champaign based wine and is very yummy!) These are their own wines,the actual winery (the Shawnee Bluff winery) is off 54 but this spot is much cuter! All the bottles have really cool unique labels too. They have a great atmosphere here. My Mom and I love this place. Anne Marie is awesome and takes good care of us. Mom likes the Vignoles. I like the wine slushes! The Charcuterie platter is very nice and very generous. Shawnee Bluff Winery is a cute little gem tucked away in the Ozarks just off the main road. If you're looking for a place to take your bros, you should really consider renting a boat and hitting the lake instead (lol). This winery is equal parts intimate and relaxing and is a perfect way to end a day of outdoor and/or water activities. Definitely a place to take your significant other or if you're courageous enough, a place to brave alone. The view here is fantastic. They've got a backyard-style atmosphere with a direct view of the lake. The sunset is visible from pretty much any place here, yay! They've got big tables for the groups and small tables for the couples, and a live band on the side playing some hunky-dory country music that surprisingly fits the atmosphere well. The wait staff here is fantastic and friendly. They give you the option to sit at the bar or inside but you'd be silly to do that with the gorgeous outdoor view they have. We ordered two wine-cheese pairing boards that come with 3 samplers of wine (probably about 6 oz each) and 3 different types of cheese that pare well with each of them. They have a few preselected tasting boards on their menu, so you're able to pick one that best suits your palette. The wines are all very good--but do note, they serve wine from other wineries as well! Make sure you get the ones coming straight from them for the authentic experience. We also ordered an in-house pizza and an additional glass of wine. The wine, as expected, was superb; the pizza was very good in its own right as well. TL;DR: Great place to check out and "wine-d" down for the evening. They've got great wine, good food, and plenty of variables to sooth your soul. We came here for supper during my bachelorette weekend trip to the Ozarks. The wine and views were nice, but unfortunately the rest of our time there was not. Three sets of dirty silverware had to be exchanged with the waitress, who was extremely snotty with my friend when she mentioned that the "crab dip" was completely unseasoned and not at all as described on the menu (when I think crab dip, I picture a hot cheesy dip with chunks of real crab, but this was a cold "krab" salad with imitation crab, mayo, and celery, plopped into a bowl with a few pieces of bread and cucumbers around it). When my friend mentioned the dip was not good and the silverware was gross (and I'm not talking a smudge...like, there was other people's food still stuck to it) the waitress said "I'm sorry you feel that way" and went on to try to tell my friend she was wrong for not liking the dip because it's one of their bestsellers. Sister, I'm sure it is, because I'm sure folks order it expecting actual crab dip and then don't want to make a stink when they get served a bowl of cold imitation crab. #stop Anyway, they took 10% off the bill for the disgusting silverware, but were very snotty about it. If we come back at all, it will NOT be to the restaurant but to the tasting barn, where the lovely and kind sommelier allowed us to still book a tasting even though it was past closing time. Went there for their wine tasting. They were fairly busy but not slammed. The waitress/wine lady brought our wine samples and we literally never got her attention again. No explanation about the different wines, no asking if we'd like to purchase more wine, nothing. We asked for our check three times as she walked past us at the bar. No eye contact, no reply. My husband resorted to waving cash in the air. Still nothing. Finally the owner/manager came in to check in other guests and we asked him to take our money. He asked who had been waiting on us and we said "well, I guess nobody as we can't get anyone to take our money". He never asked any questions or asked if we'd like to purchase anything else. Shawnee Bluff is a great little winery close to Bagnell Dam in the heart of The Lake of the Ozarks. The owners took an old roadside motel and turned it into a winery with a view overlooking the lake that is one of the most spectacular I've ever seen! Their wines get better each year. I like the Riesling and on a hot summer day their sparking moscato is refreshing. They have a decent sized menu featuring wood fired pizzas, appetizers and more. Plus, you're also welcome to bring your food. A wine tasting is free for 4 tastes. Six tastes cost $5 and you get a wine class. Weekends feature local bands that play around the heart shaped pool (it's kitschy but it works). My one negative is the service. The waitress out on the deck and over look have been pretty clueless. They are not unfriendly, but they don't work efficiently. It just seems like they need a better system out there. But I can overlook all that for the view!! read more

So, THESE folks know how to treat their gluten-free guests!! Their GF, Brick Oven Pizza was absolutely delicious!! We ordered chicken, onion and pepperchinis on their Spicy Olive Oil "sauce". Wow - just wow!! They also have cheese stuffed peppers, which were very good. All with a premium glass of Missouri wine. Now, the service was too slow. I should dock a point for slow service. Shawnee Bluff is located off Business 54. It sneaks up on you so be sure to pay attention in the location - I believe it is directly across from the Catholic Church.. (fitting right? ahah) A couple things to touch on... Shawnee Bluff used to be just an "Inn" with these little cabin things as their sleeping accommodations. Such accommodations are extremely cheap and from the exterior, I wouldn't sleep well! Over the past two years, they have added a Wine Boutique that serves its sister location's wine (Casa de Loco) and Pizza. This year they will finish their Wedding Facility and renovation of the cabin things... Before, when it was just a Wine Boutique, the pool was NEVER maintained and absolutely disgusting... I was recently told that the girls who also dressed like prostitutes when executing the wine tastings were the same people who were assigned to maintain the pool. Such girls forgot to put their clothes on - how on Earth could they clean a pool? Regardless, new management has since taken over and have plans to turn this place around. As you can see from the picture I uploaded, the view is unmatched! It features a panoramic view of the toll bridge and main channel. I will say that I hope the pizza recipe remains the same. We came with the intentions of enjoying beautiful views and fabulous pizza. The place is very pretty from the street and we had very high expectations. Upon entering, it's very small and not living up to the outside at all. The place to taste wine can only accommodate 2-3 ppl at a time-so basically one party. The lady was knowledgeable about wines and it was super to try 4 for free!! You can also try 6 for $5. We liked the wines and bought one bottle for the table and one to take home. Unfortunately, it was a rainy day and there is no cover on the deck so no outside dining and no views. Bummer. Also, no pizza, double bummer. Apparently the brick oven is outside and doesn't run in rainy weather. Overall, the outside looks lovely. Inside is nothing special. Food was average. The charcuterie choices were average at best. The antipasto salad was pretty good. First time I've had pasta noodles placed on top of a salad before. I did like the Greek olives and sun dried tomatoes. While this place is probably wonderful in sunny weather, skip it if it's raining unless you are only going to taste wine and not dining. read more
