I visited Marty Byrde's Friday afternoon at 3:00 p.m. with out-of-town guests who were visiting the Lake of the Ozarks. They are fans of the Ozark series and were especially excited to experience the restaurant. Unfortunately, the visit was extremely disappointing. The service, food quality, and cleanliness fell well short of reasonable expectations. It took approximately 20 minutes simply to place our order and another 45 minutes for the food to arrive. The table we were seated at was sticky and still had water rings from previous guests. After waiting about 10 minutes with no attention, I had to go to the bar myself to request a cloth to wipe the table and to obtain menus. While the restaurant did not appear particularly busy, it was clearly understaffed. Our party of five ordered sandwiches, one appetizer, and one beer (the rest of us had water). The total came to $134. The bill was presented on a handheld device, and when I asked for an itemized receipt, I was told one was not available. This only added to the frustration of an already poor experience. I left feeling embarrassed for the Lake area and regretful that I had brought guests there. I will absolutely not return. read more

Food was fantastic. Awesome homemade thick cut(but thin) fries. Wrap was fantastic. Nachos were money. Even the chicken wings were awesome, we were looking to grab a quick bite on a slow Sunday to get out of the rain and we're very surprised. Was way better than dinner the night before! read more

Delicious! Had the Fish Sandwich and fries with home made tartar sauce! It was soooo good. My husband had the Pit Beef Sandwich and daughter had pizza. All of it was really good and very inexpensive! Paired well with the delicious cocktail the bartender suggested Darlene's Killer Lemonade. We'll definitely be back! Highly recommend. read more

NOT THE TYPICAL LAKE FOOD‼ The kitchen owners have changed and brought gastropub food to Marty Byrde's. I rarely give 5 but this LOTO fun spot gets ALL THE STARS!! Our drinks were delicious. We had Mules. I had a Pastrami Ruben that was fantastic! The meat had no fat and the slaw was very fresh with the slightest tang. The fries were so flavorful. I could have eaten a pile more. Hubby had the Lemon Pepper Catfish. He really enjoyed it. I had a bite and thought it was insanely good. Don't squeeze the half lemon it comes with until you try it. You probably won't need to add it to the catfish. It's yummy without it. The new interior is fresh and clean and contemporary. Last but not least.... Like many people, I am a big fan of the show Ozark so I kind of felt like I had to make a stop. Based upon our experience, I feel like they are more a place for partying than a meal. We came in on a Monday in June and the place was silent - no music and only one other table around. The menu was Ozark themed with the cocktails and food items named for characters and places of the show. We didn't see anything that really stood out on the menu so ended up opting for drinks only and moving on down the strip for a meal. I am not sure I would come back for food, but wouldn't mind checking it out at night. The bartender was very friendly and attentive. read more

Been a minute since we visited Marty Byrde's and like the changes. Redecorating looks nice but not so different it smacks you in the face. Looked pretty clean, including the bathroom. All the food I saw looked great. I had the You're My Boy Blue Burger with coleslaw and my dining companion had the Catfish Sandwich with fries. Both were pretty amazing. The bacon, blue cheese, and spicy sauce gave great flavor but you could tell just the patty alone would have been very flavorful. Like it just came off the backyard grill. The coleslaw was cut a little large but was tasty and was a good compliment to the burger. The catfish was perfectly breaded and fried crisp. Again amazing flavor for what can often be somewhat bland and the caper aioli is a perfect compliment. The fries too were hot, crisp, fried perfectly, and were well salted. All served on simple metal plates covered with waxed paper. Really wanted to try a couple starters as well but we were stuffed so we'll have to return. Note: If you are not a fan of spicy, read the descriptions carefully and check with your server. Things including 'ghost pepper' or 'jalapeño' are obviously spicy, but Bayou Sauce or Byrde's Sauce you may want to inquire. The first mule I got came in a nice tall glass. The last one I ordered came in the pictured copper cup. Both were good, but the copper cup was completely filled with ice before any liquid added. Maybe that's how it's supposed to be done, but two sips and done. I prefer the glass. read more

This is definitely a bar and not a restaurant. Stopped in for lunch and was not moved by the menu. Staff was fantastic though and made the experience tolerable. Dirty place with terrible service! Wonder what happened, this place used to be decent but just went there a few days ago with a group and spent 20+min waiting at the outside bar without recognition when a few people walked up and were told to wait a few minutes, still with no recognition we were there. We left and went to Roxie's across the street empty handed but I absolutely recommend Roxie's(Clean, Good service, and some pretty good food!) I'm surprised Netflix hasn't sued Marty Byrdes for defamation with how bad they've been this year! Came here for a bite to eat on a quick trip to the lake. The menu looked fun, so I thought we'd give it a try. I should have decided to walk away as soon as we opened the door. It wasn't busy at all, but it was FILTHY. But... it was a bar after all, so we decided to look past that and stay because I've had some great food from some pretty questionable places. Our server was nice enough, but didn't really know much about the menu. We decided to start with a half kilo of nacho fries (super creative nod to the restaurant's namesake from "Ozark"). When it arrived, it looked awesome! Taste- not so awesome. It was a brick of unseasoned fries, topped with unseasoned ground beef, and green chili sauce. They forgot about the queso, so she brought out a side of it. I was hoping that it would help add some flavor to the fries, but it did not. Sadly, that was the star of our meal. Next up were some burgers, and my son ordered the "wings." I used quotation marks because wings have bones, anything else is a chicken nugget. I'll just save that argument for another platform. What was served was literally popcorn chicken covered in bottled wing sauce. The burgers were mediocre at best. The best things about them is that you could tell that the patties were formed by hand, and not frozen. Overall I would say that if you're in the area, just keep walking past this place. We went to Marty B's on a Saturday night the last weekend of February since we couldn't get a spot at casblanca--didn't expect much since we had been here before when there was old ownership and it wasn't great. No worries though- this is our NEW SPOT!!! We were told to sit wherever we wanted and brought drinks right away by the bartender. We sat in the open area which is where the live music was, and eventually moved to a table near the bar side since it was too loud-however the guy was great! Richard was our server and we ordered fish and chips and two different burritos- bbq and the cheeseburger one. They were all HUGE portions and well worth the money. Richard also showed us orders of fries- HUGE portions also and hand cut fries- can't wait to try next time!!! Our drinks were always full and we were never left wanting for anything. We had lots of questions for Richard and he was so accommodating and even had the live music guy play songs we wanted to dance to!! Our beer and drinks were super reasonably priced. Come to find out, Richard is actually the new owner!!! Can't wait to see him again and order everything off them menu. Highly recommend this place! A great addition to the strip. read more

Great local wing and burger joint we enjoyed on our 2 day visit to the Ozarks. The prices were great the service was good we dined inside bc it was a lil too noisy outdoors plus a windy October day. I bought a sweat shirt bc me and my husband really like the show. Definitely a place to stop and grab a bite to eat if you're in the area!!!! And High Noon across the street was good too, we stopped there for drinks on the way out of visiting the Damn area;-) read more

Our party of 4 went for lunch yesterday. It was one of the worst experiences I've had at the lake. Apparently it's policy to bring you pitchers of water/soda with a stack of plastic cups floating in the pitcher. I'm the age of Covid - not a smart move. But i get it. We're at the lake - things tend to be more laid back - that's cool, but who wants to fish sticky cups out pitchers of soda and lemonade. Then our server took our order - 3 of our 4 orders were wrong when they came out. Our server even commented on them being wrong, but didn't offer to make them right. I ordered a side of Mac n cheese, and when it came out it was CLEARLY Kraft Blue Box. Even beyond that, the other food we ordered was not that great. After that we waited 45 minutes for our check after we requested it. Long story short - mediocre food, slow and sloppy service. I wouldn't recommend. read more

Stopped in here while visiting family in Lake Ozark, Missouri. We just wanted to get a quick bite to eat and were very happy with our decision to do so. My wife and I split 3 orders of wings (each order had 6 wings). The 3 sauces we got were buffalo, hot & sticky and bbq which were all very delicious. The wings also came with a little celery and ranch. We did get a side order of the crinkle cut fries which were really good also. The prices were unbelievably awesome for the quality and taste and with it being a "touristy" area. Afterwards we split an order of the funnel fries which were also delicious. This place was horrible...on all levels. When you walk in the door there's a strong odor of uncleanliness. The bathrooms looked like someone got murdered in them. Wow, wow, wow. First impressions...stereotypical dive bar. My husband picked this out and at first I was thinking "I really wish we would have gone to one of the other businesses along the strip" BUT I'm so glad we didn't! I have to say these were the best fries I've ever had and one of the best burgers! My family is from New Mexico so whenever I see green Chile I jump on it. The burger was well done how I like it with just enough spice. Moving on to the prize dish....the fries. We ordered a half kilo and still walked out with plenty to take home. They have really neat fry options to choose from. I've been on a kimchi kick so it was a no brainer to try these fries and we were not disappointed. They had hoisin sauce, a creamy lime sauce and topped with kimchi and wings!! Literally it's own meal. I can't wait to go back and try their other fry options.
