Had chopped barbecue and fried chicken thigh with slaw and collards. It was good. Nice, local barbecue place.

Stopped for to go during a horse show and enjoyed our meal. We had BBQ and veggies. We will visit again when back in town.

they're constantly busy, too much vinegar in the pulled pork for my liking. overall just a bit underwhelming for my preference.

I am from the DC/Baltimore area. My wife is from Fayetteville, but raised in Maryland and West VA. So traveling to NC is like going back home for her. We were in town providing entertainment for a wedding, and we decided to eat here before the wedding. We were recommended by the hotel we were staying. Well out of all the places we ate, this was the best. The food was great, the service was great! If we ever come back to Williamston or pass through, we will definitely stop here. Visited when driving through town during posted business hours, but restaurant was closed at 7pm. (Online said 7:30). door sign was set to Open, but door was locked. Another customer drove up and was also disappointed they were closed. Have heard great things and hope to experience the BBQ another time. read more

Stopped in here on our way to the Rodanthe NC. Don't let the plain building fool you this place is the real deal! The barbecue and slaw are great but the service is what stands out. The owner is great. Checked on us to make sure every thing was ok. They also house made pork sausage that he brought over for us to try. He also provided us with a cooler box to take some with us to the beach. We eat at places all over the country and never had any one be so nice. We will definitely return. read more

I grew up in Martin County (Robersonville) and now lives in Atlanta (Atlanta calls anything on a grill Barbecue). Whenever I come home this is definitely our first stop before visiting any family members. The Barbecue is so mouth watering. In my opinion this is the best Barbecue in Eastern NC. The fried chicken, bread sticks, and the Brunswick stew is to die for. If you want desserts, try the old style apple jacks. They are made like my mom used to make over 40 years ago. This place is the BOMBS to me to come home to. Before I come back to Atlanta, my wife always insist we get about 5 -10 lbs. of Barbecue, 2-3 lbs. of their dry sausage to take back in our cooler. Loved this place! Excellent barbecue, large portions, great prices, and friendly staff. The owner came to our table herself and said "I really wasn't satisfied with the amount of fries you had, here's another serving." And we'd already gawked at the portion size! I have known shaws ever since I was a kid. I am 33 now, and I still love it!. Whenever I drive home from VA, I actually head to Shaws and get a BBQ sandwich with slaw. I love their sweet tea, and those cheese buscuits...OMG. Dont eat there everyday though, unless you have a high metabolism or work out a lot. You will pack on a few pounds :-) read more

Have been here a couple times for pulled pork sandwiches while in town for business. I like the food but could use more meat on the sandwich. The staff is friendly. I would stop if your in the mood for BBQ. read more

2 friends and I came here for lunch on our lunch break from the Clinton Anderson Tour. The lady who rang me up was nice but another lady running the other cash register clearly was trying to make everyone she spoke to feel dumb and undermine them. My one friend ordered with her and she had wanted 2 piece fried chicken which came with 2 sides. My friend asked for "the 2 piece dark meat fried chicken combo" and this lady looked straight at my friend and said "we don't have that". My friend confused pointed at the menu. The lady then said "it's not a combo". Then my friend asked if one of the pies was a chocolate pudding pie as it was brown, like chocolate. The lady said "no" and just stared at my friend so my friend was forced to ask "then what kind of pie is it?" We'll finally get orders in and waiting to get our food and the same checkout lady walks to a customer coming in the door and smacks her butt! Extremely unprofessional and uncomfortable. We received our food in styrofoam to go boxes. After eating one of my friends wanted another to go box to put her remaining food in so she didn't have to take the chicken bones and such with her. I asked this same lady for a "to go box". She just blatantly said "we don't have boxes." I tried to explain, no the ones your food in to take it to go, maybe she misunderstood me. She continued to just stare at me like she was mad and said a "styrofoam plate?" Mind you these are NOT plates. Confused I just said yes. Food was okay, not worth the price especially coming in a to go box and prepackaged plastic ware. But this one lady makes the entire restaurant uncomfortable and definitely not worth coming here. Yum! The pork sandwich was flavorful and juicy. Loved the eastern style sauce(and even bought some to take home!)

Shaw's barbecue features what I consider very bland barbecue. They provide the diner with various sauces to put on the barbecue in order to give it flavor, but I much prefer barbecue that comes with a flavor and doesn't need to be "doctored up." The slaw is made with mustard, which I do like, and the breadsticks are good. But there is much better barbecue in eastern NC. read more

Shaw's is the gold standard for Eastern NC barbecue. My husband's mother goes there a couple of times a year and brings back several pounds to keep in the freezer so we are never without some. We are actually getting ready to go in a few weeks because we ran out -- had the last container for my son's birthday a few weeks ago. The sides are nothing out of the ordinary but the barbecue is the best you will get anywhere. read more

It's OK, just OK so if you are in the mood for some Q instead of a chain burger then you won't be disappointed. But the pork didn't have much of anything in the way of smoke or vinegar/pepper bite. The bright yellow slaw does help it out a lot. Brunswich Stew was pretty good as was the cabbage even though I had ordered collards. The corn sticks were really dry. Always good Eastern NC BBQ..Cooked on site using a family recipe. The Pig Pickers style of pulled pieces of pork is great. Barbecue chicken is tender and moist. Highly recommend. read more
