Today we had what was one of the worst meals we've had in Washington, which is saying a lot. We paid close to $20 for a SMALL fried oyster sandwich that came out not the way we ordered it; which was with tomatoes. No tomatoes came with the sandwich. The oysters were undercooked. The bun was a really inexpensive bun from a grocery store. The fries were undercooked (which is so awful) The young girl that delivered it when told that we were splitting it, and I needed some way to cut it in half literally walked away from the table without helping us. The food was horrible. The service was horrible. This is the third time we've been there. I do not understand how this place is still in business. read more

This place is truly amazing. I haven't been in years, but the food is still just as good! It's a hidden gem, a small place, but full of heart. The service is always great, and they treat you like family. We ordered a little bit of everything.. snow crab legs, trout, catfish, oysters, a crab cake, soft crab burger, fries, and slaw. I love a good coastal crab shack! This place does not disappoint. Standard southern Seaside fare. With fresh ingredients, quick service, comfy, casual dining and very modest pricing. What more could you ask for? My wife had fried flounder, which is her favorite fish meal. And it did not disappoint. More food than she could eat! I had the crabcake, which was a little on the small side, but very nicely prepared. The slaw was not too mayonnaise-y and tasted like it may have had a little bit of horseradish in it. Very tasty! Washington Crab was recommended by the hotel and had good reviews so I decided to check it out. It looks run down on the outside and inside wasn't as clean as I would have liked. Service was friendly and I ordered the flounder and shrimp. I went with it fried but grilled may have been better as this was overfried. I love sweet potato casserole but did not care for this. Sorry we tried it and neither liked it at all. Fish was way over cooked, it was dry, batter was not light and flaky, very little actual fish, French fries were under cooked, hard and cold, we were only ones in parking lot so wasn't busy. read more

First time here. Staff was friendly and helpful. Had the Tuesday special Flounder sandwich and side. Fried flounder had a great color and was not greasy- probably one of the best I've had in NC. Coleslaw side was large and tasty. Look forward to trying their other dishes read more

The guy in the back named Jamel is the BEST! So friendly and personable. Just a genuine dude! My gf and I go here a couple times a month. Jamel always comes out of the back and speaks to us. He already knows what we generally like to order, but he still takes the time to tell us about everything they have fresh or in-season. This really makes our dining experience feel more personal, which we love. Thank you Jamel! As for the good, I usually go with the grilled shrimp, slaw, and Old Bay seasoned fries. It's always a good meal! My gf typically gets the soft shell blue crabs or fresh oysters when in season. She loves the Cole slaw and their sweet tea. Every time I pass through Washington, NC I always have to stop at Washington Crab to have a meal. Their seafood never disappoints. They have the most wonderful, light batter they fry their food in. The portions are large and they have the best coleslaw. I enjoy ordering fried scallops and oysters. My friend had fried shrimp and flounder and enjoyed his meal. The prices are very reasonable for the amount of food you receive.The ambiance is vey casual and the service is always wonderful. We had a free hotel stay to use before it expired that we'd earned and saw a great review of this restaurant in Our State magazine so decided since we'd never been out this way we'd kill two birds with one stone! My spouse was a little skeptical from the outdoor appearance when she looked on Yelp, but I reminded her it didn't look much different than a place we love in Southport so I booked a hotel and we headed off on an adventure! Upon arrival it did look pretty run down, not like the place I mentioned above, but those reviews couldn't be wrong in Our State, so in we went! I ordered fried shrimp and clams and my spouse fried oysters and scallops. We got our drinks and carefully walked to a table. The was a bunch of water on the floor by the drink machine leading into that room. I later pointed it out to an employee who for whatever reason could only see half of it when he came with a mop. Didn't matter cos wherever it was leaking from it all came back again! There were a lot of seniors who came here and I was concerned for them in particular with the standing water on the floor. Our food arrived and the employee let my spouse know one of her scallops had fallen on the floor so her order was one short and they'd bring it to her. Meanwhile, the scallops they did give her looked burnt, but she said they tasted ok and the oysters were fine. My shrimp was very good and there was a ton of them. The clams were pretty good, but there was hardly any by comparison. The hushpuppies were bland as could be, but the potato salad wasn't bad. My spouse did get her other scallop plus one more and they were not over fried at all. She needed to use the restroom and when asked was told it was outside by the deck area. The door wouldn't close properly and a couple kids walked in on her. When she came back she said, you don't want to use that bathroom! Long story short, I don't think we'd return to find out if their food is hit or miss since we experienced both on our first visit. read more

This is a true gem of NC seafood. Can't quite call it a hole in the wall since it's a stand alone building, maybe a large shack. Crab cakes were homemade, very little filler. Bacon wrapped scallops were massive, but managed to get it all in my mouth. All seafood items have a choice of steamed, grilled, or fried. Stand in line to order like your at a fast food place, then go take a seat and they bring the food to your table. Friendly staff and great food. Will be back next time I'm in town. read more

Outside looks like a Ricky ol crab shack. Which it is. Decor outdated chairs tables outdated. My flounder was good. The only thing is that the silver ingredients wasn't removed, which gives it a much fisher taste. Once I removed it, it was delicious. My daughter got a bunch of crab legs. Darn, if they weren't the smallest crab in the bushel for 15. She loved it, so that's all that matters. The waiter had to look around for crab cracker. Really, it's a crab shack. Shouldn't you give the crab diners something to get the meat out of the shell? It's just food for thought. My beastie loved her shrimp. read more

I have to forewarn you, the crab cake is delicious along with side of slaw, corn, and hushpuppies. I have to be honest, my flounder looked and tasted a bit funky. The clams were unrecognizable; small pieces and so thick with breading. The scallops had very over-cooked crispy bacon wrapped around with a couple of toothpicks. The lunch was pricey and assumed I would get fresh products. The inside of restaurant was fine, plenty of sitting area. I am so disappointed and heartbroken that our order had so much uneaten food. Seafood overcooked. Shrimp were like rubber. Clam strips over cooked. Hard to chew. Cocktail sauce was thin as water. Even though our order number was "on" the table, our waitress was so high she didn't believe the orders in her hands were for our table. Had to convince her they were ours, told her what we all ordered and even then she had to go back to kitchen to ask before she gave us our food. Took her 3 trips to the kitchen before she got our orders right. Gentleman running cash register tried to tell us we couldn't order what we were trying to order. Had to ask him 3 times before he finally put out order in. Don't know what was so hard about clam strips and a side of fries. But according to him we couldn't have it. My husband had the catfish sandwich and corn on the cob. Everything was piping hot and delicious. The remoulade sauce was perfection. Service was prompt and with a smile. A girl came through the diner several times to make sure everyone had what they needed at each table. We went on a Friday evening at 545pm and didn't have a long wait. The service was exceptionally friendly. They were patient with our lack of decision as we reviewed the huge menu. Everything is available fried or grilled which is great. I gave it 3 stars because of the food. My son got a chicken sand which which was over cooked. My husband got the grilled shrimp sandwich. The bun completely fell apart. There were tons of shrimp and it tasted good. He had the potato salad which both my son and he liked. I had the grilled oyster and shrimp combo which was cooked perfectly. Seasoning was ok. The fries were cool temperature wise and didn't have seasoning on them which I remedied with a side of old bay. The crab dip was a good price which was ok and I fixed with more old bay and hot sauce. What a cool place! This restaurant is the perfect beach dive. They have pretty much any seafood you can think of on the menu and amazing sides and appetizers... so hard to decide! Everyone's food was cooked perfectly (we asked for it cooked medium). The vegetables came out piping hot and the sweet potato casserole was just sweet enough with nuts. The only consideration you should make with your meal is that the bone-in catch of the day was a small bony fish which made it difficult to eat. That's just the nature of the fish though. Really have enjoyed the food the few times we have been here for lunch so this review is more about the staff. Our daughter was in town and we told her how good it was & decided to take her for dinner. It was a little after 7:30pm and I called to see what time they closed. The person answering the phone said "9pm...on the dot" with a tone that let us know we'd better not be lingering. No problem, we just wanted to eat and this place doesn't exactly have the decor that makes you want to camp out. Once we arrived, we were told that we could only order fried food because the grill had been turned off. (At 8pm). My wife doesn't eat fried food so that left us paying for a salad which she had to settle on because we were all hungry. We got a number for our table and once again were surprised when our food came out in a to-go bag. Basically GTFO. These guys clearly weren't messing around and wanted everyone out before closing time. We will likely be sticking to lunch visits going forward as everyone previously has been very pleasant. read more
