We had an atrocious experience tonight (12/21/2023 at 7 p.m.). We wanted to order some party platters for Christmas Eve as advertised in their flyer. A family member contacted the deli, and a man answered. Then when we told him what we wanted to order he said something that sounded like "oh are you looking for Mr Six, wait a minute" then we heard laughter in the background and they hung up. So we called back a little later and got someone else who sounded more competent. The management needs to be aware of this. We're not talking about a dive bar here. I originally thought that they were a bit overpriced, but after discovering the Shaw's App, I learned that clipping their coupons and using their rewards allow me to save more than a pretty penny on their products. She was trying to get the kid at the service desk to handle the situation but since he was a teenager, I asked for her to come speak with me in person. I frequent this Shaw's location often (15 Smithfield Ave, North Providence). Went to the Deli 1/31/21 to purchase Genoa Salami. Opened the zip-locked bag this morning to make a sandwich. Picture attached is what I got. The entire side of each slice is still sealed with it's plastic carriage. Had I eaten this unknowingly, I'd probably be sick within the day or two. When I'm paying $8.00 to $11.99 for a single pound of meat, a premium price- I expect the quality of my product to match the premium price that I pay. This was simply not the case. Also, on a side note- I was buying Crushed Red Pepper rubbed pepperoni sticks at this location for weeks and then the next time I come in they're all gone, haven't seen them in weeks now and after asking an employee in the area what happened- they have no idea. Products apparently just disappear from shelves. #Side Note 2: As a diabetic I often look for Zero Sugar products; I'm never able to find Zero Sugar Sunkist Orange Soda in the 12-packs anymore, I only ever see the regular for the past few weeks. Very poor customer service. No such thing as social distancing, over crowded store. I went down a isle the was lit up with multiple other isles open, the isle had its light on but the express item checkout was not clearly visible. I like coming to this supermarket after I check out their circular for weekly sales. They have an app to check out the circular and if you sign up you start accumulating points which gets you free items, 1.00 off your total, or a percentage off your whole order. It's easy to use and before you go shop you can view deals and clip and save them so you remember your grocery list. All you do is put in your phone number when at the check out and the sales automatically get deducted from your total. They also have monopoly games which you earn stamps to try to win prizes. The last promotion they had was for Glass Tupperware. You earn a stamp for every dollar spent. I ended up getting 6 good size pieces! Who doesn't like free things just for shopping. I tried the self check out once, and it was enough for me. Nothing worse than having to wait for customer service associate to come help. Plus you won't get your game pieces, or stamps depending on what game they are running at the time. read more

How do I say this without adding fuel to the fire? Well to start the parking lot is horrible , never a day that you can easily park. The parking lot is made horribly and the people make it 100 times worse because they can't drive . This store is always packed with some of the most ignorant people you will ever meet, this store must rub off on people, because the employees are horrible them self. Nobody ever had answers and nobody ever wants to help. So today I was in the do it yourself checkout lane , and God knows how much these things act up , like every single time someone uses it. I was scanning my stuff and bagging it , now I had a cake and water which I couldn't bag obviously, because the cakes top was messed up and I didn't want to damage the cake and the water didn't need a bag. Anyways , so the machine was being stupid and I called a employee over well she was the rudest piece of work I ever met in my life I'm so mortified that I didn't get her name. I told her excuse me I need help and her response was , well your moving stuff around so the machine doesn't know what's going on. Hold up? Excuse me ? So I pretty much told her off and told her where to go. Ignorance gets ignorance in return . I'm definetly more of a Dave's market Girl. I only go to shaws if I need one thing quickly because it's on my way Home from work. I find the prices reasonable but as far as service Goes it sucks. Sorry for the poor Choice of words but it's true. There's generally one register and four self scans open so you pretty much have to check Yourself out. Which is fine. As I wandered the aisles looking for my candied walnuts I walked by about five associates. Not one said hello or even smiled at Me. They often run out of sales items which is why I don't do my main shopping there. The fruit here is horrible. Hard as a rock when they put it out - even thought they lie and say "ripe" on the sign - and it generally "ripens" into a dry, mealy mess. Buy your produce somewhere else. This place isn't that great. As others have mentioned the parking lot sucks. They're often out of carriages. There only seems to ever be 2-3 manned check out lanes despite huge lines in each one. Don't think for a second that the self check out is any quicker. There are errors every other item you scan which grinds your check out to a halt. There's never anyone around to help either. Great selection. Usually properly staffed. They are a bit short on the freezer section, and international is only okay. I'm often finding they have a bare shelf where the stramer broccoli should be. Otherwise the deli is good, and I can usually get all the staples on my list. I've given this location several chances but can't do it anymore. Meats are so so, especially the steaks. Produce is always a disappointment. Today's issues were one artichoke in the case, wimpy zucchini, and my biggest gripe; buy one get one free. Asparagus was the bogo today and seems to be same retail price. I realize that the community is no longer Italian, so they're not carrying as much product. These issues force me to shop at the local Dave's. I see no sense in going to both places to shop and the price difference keeps me from doing that. In addition to these issues, seens like there are a lot of empty spaces for products that i use. They always have meat specials and a ton of different already made dinner items. As well as produce items they don't offer at the markets closer to my house. The staff is always pleasant enough. Now that I think of it, there are only two Shaw's that I remember in the northern part of the state, this one in NoPro, and one in Cranston. They're slowly going out of style, but hey, y'know what, this store isn't half that bad. Reminiscent of Hannaford Market (oh northern New England, how I miss you sometimes) this location is clean, organized, and has some items that the local Stop and Shop may not have. I'll probably be around again when looking for specific items that my local Stop and Shop doesn't offer, but it won't become a weekly trip. My daughter got fired today just for talking to one of her coworkers in saying that every the beginning of every month seems busy because the food stamps and a custom overheard that and reported her and got her fired, that's not right at all, that is not a reason to fire someone. Usually there are some great sales at Shaw's and prices overall are pretty competitive. Sad to see some of them closing up around, but glad that this one is still around. Getting here is pretty easy with a designated bus stop and three different entrances into the plaza. Customer service desk has been decent, except for one issue that was a bit annoying (they ran out of a promotional item that I had earned by collecting stamps and kind of shrugged it off, but I pushed and received a credit). I come here a few times a week to grab something I probably missed on my big shopping or to supplement what I have at home to make a complete meal. The store is fairly neat and well stocked, there is this weird little abyss at the front of the store though that is normal filled with soda and tchocthkies. There is always a line here and they don't seem to get regular deliveries of the Providence Phoenix. I've never had an issue with any item I've purchased here and I do love that they have self checkouts...(hey sometimes you buy things and you don't want to look someone in the eyes when buying it, because you can feel their judgement burning your soul.) read more

I shop here every week, sometimes even twice a week. On the receipt, it said to complete a survey to enter a $100 gift card. I did, and I wrote down what I didnt like and all sorts. I got a CALL from Shaw's regarding my answers. I felt like I was being interrogated, seriously. I thought these surveys were just honest opinions so Shaw's can discuss with their headquarters or whoever to make it better, why call and ask tons of questions? I felt so embarrassed like he made me feel bad about doing the survey. Never going back here, so so embarrassed and felt like I did something wrong. It's -so- hard to find a nice supermarket around this area! The Walmart and Stop&Shop by me are really less than desirable (even though I do like these chain stores in other areas). This Shaw's is like an Oasis in my Food Desert (see what I did there?!). I really enjoy the entrance of the store, how it presents you into an open area of fresh produce, and the layout of the rest of the store. This is a very large supermarket, and actually has nice products to purchase outside of groceries (ex: Red Sox merchandise, patio furniture, coolers etc.). I think the only two things I don't enjoy is that they do not serve Boar's Head deli meat, and that they do not have a rewards system like Stop&Shop Fuel Points. I definitely recommend! read more

We love this Shaw's, we're here every Sunday, and sometime another time during the week for 1 off's. The 3 day sales are good, selection is decent and it's close to home for us. Great location, easy to get in and out. The inside could use a facelift but it's not hideous just a little outdated. A tough area is down the road so it tends to be busy with what I call "gold card recipients" around the first of the month. We dodge it around that time, but all other times, its great! read more
