This Shaws flat out sucks. The aisles are super narrow and the entire layout of the store is terrible. Workers are rude and tend to stock the aisles during the busiest time, leaving zero room for shopping. The lights are also insanely bright, and when you first walk in you get hit with the terrible smell of gross rotisserie chicken. Bathrooms are worse than a truck stop. read more

I have been at Shaws many times, I have witnessed the Same employees there Looking to Provide the best Customer Service and kindness. The BAKERY has Baked Goods N THE DELI has all kinds of Cheese as well as nice cuts of Meats with decent Prices & varieties to choose from I have tried the food from Starbucks at the Shaws. Two weeks ago I ordered the Sausage egg & cheese muffin and I also ordered the Matcha. The ambiance is quiet a lot of the time. The exception is when those teenagers are out of school they go running through the supermarket acting wild. That's when the Adults in the Supermarket have to tell them to quiet themselves & LEAVE. Aside from those children's noise, The supermarket is fairly quiet. On Friday, November 22, 2024, I went to conduct a Western Union transfer to my spouse. I was surprised when the clerk/cashier began to interrogate me and questioned the reason I was sending money to my spouse. I responded "because I can," she said I had to answer the question. I said that I did answer the question and she insisted the answer wasn't good enough. The clerk called her manager, whom I informed her that I was sending money to my spouse. The manager told me that she needed to know why and I would not be getting a transaction done if I don't tell her the reason I was sending money to my spouse. Who asks a question like this? I went shopping there on Sunday. I went to Donna's line. Doesn't greet me rings in my order. Donna doesn't even acknowledge me. Donna acts like she's doing me a favor.I gave her coupons. Donna scans them but they don't go through. She tell me what I owe. I explained to her it can't be right. Donna stated well they won't come off just pay. I asked for the manager. Her thin lips pressed together and her eyes bugling she opens her mouth and told me to get out of her store and voided my order. Great customer service at its best. read more

I am giving this grocery store 1 star, because they sold me rotten shrimp; when I bought them they put them in three seperate bags before giving them to me, so I did not smell the rancid oder until I open them up. when I brought the back, the lady knew they were bad before I even said anything.... even she said they should have never been sold. if your buying seafood, be wary if it is frozen, because if the seafood is bad, you cannot tell until it begins to thaw. read more

Unfortunately I am so saddened by the service at this store. I went shopping and when at the check out lane there are two young males talking to each other. Neither one of them said hello or asked if wanted paper or plastic and the bagger just left and walked away to customer service. Avoid, unless you don't mind being irritated beyond belief. It's bad enough that employees are outside smoking (eww..... you work with food and smell like an ashtray) but today was my last visit to this location. Below is the message I sent to Shaw's via their website: This was THE LAST TIME I will ever shop at this store, or in today's case, ATTEMPT to shop. With my nine items, I went to the self-scanner line, and after bagging 7 items, the scanner needed "store assistance". I wait, wait some more, waited....... four of your associates are within 10 feet of me, two just talking. One came over (I thought she would help) and I said it needs assistance. Did she help? No, she was there to just put an item into the cart nearby (return-to-shelf items, it looked like). Rather than make a career out of standing there (and 6 of the items were refrigerated and/or frozen), I just left everything there and left. Obviously, my items were added to that cart to put away. I'm happy to go to the Roche-Bros in Westwood and pay 15-20% more... I just want to get the food home (which is why people grocery shop, right??). Service sucks at this location, and while the store manager is nice, he really got all the stupid employees dumped on him. read more

OK, this supermarket seems to get very low reviews on here, so I figured I would add my two cents. It's really not that bad. It's directly across from the police department, so you know it won't get robbed when you're in there, so that's a plus. It's also in a plaza with several other stores, and has a shared lot, so there's plenty of parking. I reviewed the Hannaford's which is a few miles down the street a few days ago, and I have to say, this place is not all that much better. It's not worse, but it's just not that much better. Aesthetically, from the outside, it does look nicer, but inside, it is pretty similar. I find the aisles to be somewhat dark and dim, end it does lack some kind of brightness and energy, if that makes sense. On the other hand, I don't come here looking to soothe my soul and find peace, I come here for groceries. The prices are a little higher than Hannaford's, but their selection is also a little better. Their overhead is definitely bigger, as it is a larger space, so that accounts for some of it. There is also a 24 hour CVS directly next to the supermarket, so that helps if you were looking to do one stop shopping with prescriptions and such. Overall, not a bad supermarket... This place used to be the bane of my existence. I would always avoid this store due to its previous state of horror. The store was so disorganized, old, crumbling, and just unpleasant. However, they have done a COMPLETE 360 with everything! Yes, a whole new renovation to my local Shaw's. Any Norwood resident has come to discover that, unfortunately, if you live in Norwood, there are no "outstanding" grocery stores. Big Y (where Hannaford's was) isn't all that impressive (especially in comparison to the Walpole Big Y, which is much, much better), Stop&Shop is alright.... however, nothing like the Walpole Stop&Shop yet again. Shaw's used to be the absolute worst, but since renovations, this specific location is becoming amazing as it always should have been. I live in Westwood and used to make the trip to Stop&Shop in Walpole (about ten minutes from my house) because this place was horrible and Roche Bros in Westwood is a place I enjoy shopping, but is more expensive than I prefer and has way too many Westwood residents always lurking around! Not that I still won't go to Stop&Shop (I'm obsessed with those SCAN-IT guns!), but it's nice to be able to stop here and not question every product I'm purchasing. This place used to be the pits! Now, the complete renovation has made the store extremely clean, elegant, organized, and exactly how it always should have been. They did get rid of self checkout (bummer!), but overall, the entirety of the renovation created a better shopping atmosphere by 100%! Parking lot still doesn't have carriage corrals, but other than that, this place has gotten much better. I will be making this more of a regular stop. 4 stars. read more

There are 5 supermarkets in a 3 mile radius of where I live, but I somehow end up at Shaw's all the time. There are certain things that are significantly cheaper but I mostly like the selection of produce and organic foods at this Shaw's. Anyway, the workers at the Shaw's are friendly and courteous. The check-out lines generally move pretty quickly. Granted I normally go grocery shopping at 10:30am on the weekends after my spin class and yoga class, I never had to wait long to pay. The only "gripe" I have for this Shaw's is the lack of cart returns in the parking lot. Often times I see carts flying everywhere, taking up parking spaces and all over the road. read more

I've been shopping at Shaw's Norwood for 15 years now. I've tried the others in the area like Roche Bros. and Whole Foods, as well as the larger Shaws (Star) in Dedham, but I keep coming back to Norwood for a few reasons: 1. The management staff is very helpful and friendly. I've never had a problem that they didn't quickly resolve. They seem to work as a well-oiled team helping each other help customers. 2. The store is small enough to be efficient, yet large enough to have most items that I buy. The isles are wide enough that a stopped cart doesn't block the entire row. 3. The pricing with a Shaw's card seems better than anywhere else. 4. There's a CVS and Norwood Liquor in the same plaza. read more

If you want less stress park over near the TJ Maxx and walk to the Shaws. Unlike the dirty Shaws, however, I've never gotten any bad food from here. read more

I sometimes get lunch here in the hot food dept. Its good. Usually chicken and sides. The market itself is a big one. Its located in a strip plaza next to a cvs and liquer store. So pretty convenient. Plenty of parking and sometimes gets filled up as the store gets quite busy at times. read more

Shaw's this week had some good buys requiring a coupon. There was one sentence on the coupon that read: "must meet $10 purchase after qualifying item". This is a poorly worded contract. Perhaps on purpose. The meaning is that there is an additional $10 purchase required before you can get the price on the sale item. The word "meet" has the following definitions: 1. come into the presence or company of (someone) by chance or arrangement. 2. touch; join "the curtains failed to meet in the middle" 3. an organized event at which a number of races or other sporting contests are held. So -- do we come into the presence of a $10 purchase? do we touch or join a $10 purchase? its not an organized event! So, we must infer that Shaw's has tip-toed around the word purchase. A word in Shaw's legal dept's ear: try again. read more

Went into Shaws to pick up a few items including lobsters for our anniversary dinner. They had one lobster in their dirty tank. They had tiny lobster tails for sale and they were covered in flies. We purchase pre-packed filets that were good but again they were pre packed. We also purchased a pack of scones. When we opened them to have for breakfast the next morning they were completely moldy. So tired of the closest grocery being such a sad sad store. The only employee that consistently acts like he cares about life at all is the man with a beard behind deli counter. Oh and some young guy always stocking produce is nice. Produce...so so. Every person that checks you out looks as if someone is holding a gun to their head, no smile, no nid, no hi how are you, nothing. Followed by no good bye, have a nice day or thanks for shopping (you know because without customers you don't have a job). The last bag boy through a pineapple on top of fruit containers. I looked at him as anyone would look at someone doing something careless and he smiled. Wow. Last week I saw a large Yogurt container was opened on shelf, I handed it to the nearest employee who was stocking (the yogurt) and said excuse me I found this one opened and thought you would like it off the shelf. Her reaction was....nothing. she didn't even make eye contact took the yogurt from me, tossed it in her cart and continued what she was doing. I stood there for a second waiting for any kind of reaction you know a thanks, or oh that could've made a mess. Nothing. The deli always is out of the meat I like so I called the deli manger one day to ask if she could keep it in Stock more and she said it is always in Stock as if I was wrong. Most of the times when I come here now I get a cashier that ignores me when I'm talking with her. When my items are getting checked out, I always say hi to the cashier and ask how they're doing. I don't get any response. When I thank them before grabbing my stuff to go, I don't get a reply then either. Sometimes I get one of the younger or new cashiers, and they are a lot nicer and would actually speak with you. The place isn't the cleanest. On multiple occasions I've seen a big fly or two in those plastic containers with bagels, where you can grab as many as you want. Our family stopped buying bagels from here. Another time, I found a dead squished fly on a box of butter. I live right next to this Shaw's and have been going here for 10 years. I used to go here more often, it wasn't this bad before. Now, I go out of my way to other grocery stores. If this Shaw's trained their employees in customer courtesy and cleaned up the facility a bit more, I would go here more often. I now only go here when there's some type of urgency. Coming here is not a pleasant experience. I came in here yesterday, and got a rude cashier again. I wish Shaw's didn't get rid of their self check out stations. I believe they got rid of them sometime in either 2014 or 2015. read more

So I moved here 2 years ago down the street from Shaw's, the location is great. Shopping wise, it's been the worst. The produce is never fresh or put out when they run out mid afternoon. The deli is slow. Also I've gotten so many products out of date so now after this week I check. My pizza expired in June and my ice cream in may. I go here often just because I'm shopping with my child and it's so close. I'd rather stop n shop but after being on your feet for more than 12 hours I think it's time to hang it up. Shaws just recently updated the store. Even though it was difficult to navigate the new design at first, it is a vast improvement. I find shopping there very comfortable. Customers move in similar directions and are mostly kind overall. I've been to the new 'upscale' supermarkets and find them to be over-rated. The atmosphere is pandemonium. You can't figure out where items are in the store. I wanted to try their prepared dinners. Awful! And I'm not really looking to pay $21.00 lb for steak. I recently needed a deli tray in a couple hours not knowing you were suppose to give a 24 hour notice to order. But Scott in the Deli department was able to pull my request together so I could deliver the deli tray to a grieving family in a timely manner. So, I like shopping at Shaws. Has everything I need. Has great specials. And I can get my groceries without having an anxiety attack. read more

Even though this grocery store is within close proximity to my house I refuse to go there. Last time I went to this location I was scolded by the front end manager for a problem they had with their card processing machine, I left and went to stop and shop with no problems. The employees are rude, the store is always dirty and it's more expensive than going to Wegmans. This store needs a serious over haul. With Wegmans in Westwood and big Y opening down the street there really is no reason to shop here. read more

This is my "go to" store. Close and convenient for me. Sure, there have been some inconveniences with the recent store makeover, but I think they are doing their best in crazy circumstances. The cashiers and managers are always efficient and friendly, for the most part, as are those who work in the produce dept..The seafood department provides good selections and service. I am usually not one to got to Shaws but if I do I am usually quite satisfied. When I found myself at the Shaws in Norwood Ma my opinion was on the contrary. The food in general was average. But what bothered me the most was quality of the produce! Many of the vegetables were old, bruised and just not fresh. I bought some romaine lettuce and it was wilted as soon as I got home (it is a 10 minute drive). If you are going here simply for the prices, honestly, spend a few more dollars, you won't regret it.
