Ahold USA ruined Hannaford when they merged with Delhaize. How necessary are corporate offices to running a grocery store? Prices have shot up while simultaneously removing every convenient offering they had for customers. The only people who shop at hannaford are the people who think Market Baskets are too busy! Some genius level decisions by the "corporate minds", store near the coast? Remove lobster tank. Remove seafood counter. Remove pharmacy! Take away the service at the deli counter! Stop doing thanksgiving dinners! Mark up the same exact McCormick spices by FIVE DOLLARS over market basket. All while having offensive prices and underpaying their staff. But hey! At least the corporate people can strut around stores during their visits like kings and block aisles and ignore customers. If you have any self respect Stop & Shop and Hannaford (merged company) should be avoided. They do not care about their customers experience. But the epic cherry on top, who's the genius in the corporate office who decided on a rebrand, changing the Stop lights to a Microsoft fruit basket, making their employees wear yellow and purple like Party City employees, all the signage changes of stores and trucks etc, only to change it all back!! How much money did the rebrand and return cost? Imagine stopping these rediculous shenanigans to justify corporate salaries and pass the savings onto customers and employees? Incompetent Grocery person named Stoli who is always a problem, doesnt listen to customer at Self Serve in Norwood would not listen to my Aunt, shorted her $15. When my Aunt went to the supervisor Sara Will, Sara ignored her, wouldn't check the slip that showed OTC purchase, my aunt paid double for groceries she did get and $15. for what she "didnt" get. Supervisor threatened my 70 year old Aunt and cheated her out of her money. I, as a former Prosecutor and Attorney, will file a report with the Attorney Generals Office, Consumer Protection Unit, and take Manager and Supervisor to Court for abusing and verbally assaulting my Aunt. Pressing charges for theft as well. Service woman at Self Serve , Stoli always discards any help customers need. read more

Not sure of the complaints here. Store itself was clean and there were plenty of items on the shelves. Pretty phenomenal gluten free section for those afflicted. Good variety of fresh(er) foods available as well as the standard staples. Somewhat frustrating experience with the self checkout due to a keypad abnormality but got by it finally. read more

This store has declined rapidly since their remodel a few years ago. Lacking most of the organic product they carried before the remodel. Store has had broken floor tiles for about a year and they repaired them by putting a blue cloth over them! Definitely a walking hazard. Told the manager on duty who seemed very lackadaisical. Employees always seem to be complaining on the sales floor. So sad. This store used to be so great to shop at. read more

Great experience shopping here. Outstanding customer service. Plenty of parking. The staff really works hard to find you items and get you out quickly. They are short staffed so you have to keep that in mind. The staff and management are very welcoming. Deketa in bakery does an amazing job with food and service. I think the store needs to up their ante on their cleanliness especially because of covid-19 still ravenging the states. The floors are absolutely decimated with dirt and micro-organisms, the shelves the same, and to make everything worse the refrigerator doors and shelves in the frozen section are dirty with spilled and sticky milk all over them! I went to shopping today and wanted to redeem a Butterball gift check given to my family from my husband's employer. I have been redeeming this gift check for over 10 years and haven't had an issue until I ran into the Manger on Duty (Raj) at 1415 Providence Highway, Norwood, MA. Raj did not give a thought to denying the return of my change when the order was slightly less than the value of the check. {Food cost $26.00 - check $30.00; change $4.00} Raj said to the cashier only redeem the check for $30 and give no change. That has NOT been the case in the past and I tried to explain that the check would be honored for the full $30 but Raj would not listen for 1 second and abruptly said No! His response was extremely rude, without customer support, and he showed no evidence of professionalism. Customer service is not important to Raj and I would suggest if you go to this store make sure you buy your food with cash or credit and get out without discussion. So on the 21st of december of 2019 I thought to myself oh boy I need to do some shopping. So I went down to my favorite store, Stop and shop! When I got there I discovered that for some reason the front entrance hasn't been cleaned in probably about a week! But I still needed to shop so I let it go. I went over to buy some milk and to my discovery the doors looked so dirty I couldn't believe my eyes. I grabbed my milk and moved on because I still had shopping to do. When I went to checkout the cashier was nothing but rude so I asked for the manager. The manager swiftly came over and I told her about the rudeness of the cashier and laughed at me and said i'm sorry. I told them I was never coming back and they said good. I used to be a fan of this location, but two things have made me downgrade to a "meh" two-star rating: 1. The self-check lanes need the upgraded software/screens that other stores (like Walpole) have. Coupons do NOT scan here, so you need to hunt someone down, which sometimes take a while. I use the self-scan and have everything bagged and priced with the laser-thing because I am in a hurry and don't want to waste time at the register. However, at this location, you might be chillin' at the register for a while. 2. The deals in the circular for "Buy 7 and save 40cents extra on gas": as I was told on the phone by S & S customer service this morning (after waiting on hold for a while), hold onto the circular and don't trust the store to place the labels on the correct items. Really. Guess who bought more of what they really didn't need just because I got sucked into the gas deal? This was the second time this happened at this location. As geeky as you might feel wandering around with your 8 page flyer, if you want to make sure you're buying the right thing, do it, and don't trust them (hey, that's what Gas Rewards customer service told me...). read more

This review is just for Mark the cashier, as this is a grocery store and really doesn't require a review. No clue why they made this guy a cashier, but they need to put him somewhere else. He is super rude, doesn't say a word to customers unless they say something, and throws things from the belt to the bagging area. Good, clean location on Route 1 with ample parking. Absolutely fantastic Passover selection. Do wish they had more options and a designated section for dairy for Passover; instead, the cheese was mixed with the regular deli cheese and took a while to find.... the staff didn't even think they had anything available. I used the preorder kiosk at the deli and ordered some Roast beef at $13.50/lb among a few other products I picked it up, went home and put it in the fridge. Cue a day later I took the package out of the fridge to make a sandwich, only to find the cheap $5/lb ham in the bag instead of the roast beef. read more

This is the *ONLY* place I will grocery shop. I have my system down - bring in those awesome recyclable bags they sell for 99 cents each, grab my little lazer gun, and off I go! This is only of the only S&S in the area where you can scan the bar code and the item comes up on your gun (imagine it like registering for a wedding or baby) and then at the end you check out at a register by swiping your S&S card, scanning a bar code, and watching in awe when your entire order pops up. Scan any coupons and off you go - having already bagged your groceries how YOU want to in the recycle bags. Not one for those bags? No biggie... you can get some standard paper or plastic ones at the lazer gun kiosk. Another advantage to the lazer gun? Because it is so quick upon checkout you can even use the "fast lane" - yes that 12 and under aisle that is quicker than the rest. Perfect! This particular S&S also has a ton of self checkout options so you can really just do your thing. Great quality of food, store is always clean, they always have great sales, and the staff are actually really nice and helpful. Conveniently located at a 4-way intersection on route 1 so you can get to it from any direction and they have really awesome hours. My only downfall - on the self-checkout the bar code you need to scan never wants to work. It is really frustrating! Eventually you can get it to sync up with your scanner but you'll need patience... it's one glitch in a pretty flawless system so it isn't a huge deal but worth mentioning. read more

Got robbed for Thanksgiving here. Stop & Shop has horrible customer service. I bought 10 bottles of soda that were supposed to be 88 cents each but paid $2.19 each. I bought 5 bottles of sparling water that were supposed to $1 but paid $1.99 each. I also bought a case of water that was supposed to be $5 but paid $6.49. I used the self checkout but it was having problems. My stop and shop card didn't go through so I immediately went to the customer service. I was told I could only get the amount that was written at the bottom of the receipt which was $7 dollars and some change. When I explained that it was really $19 and some change the woman didn't care and told me to call the corporate store. When I called the corporate number, they told me I had to go to the store. I tried to call the store and the same person answered and told me there was nothing they could do. read more

Bought our Thanksgiving turkey here and it was packaged as "fresh", I felt it and it was very cold and hard. Questioned the man working the dept and he assured me it was fresh. Still concerned I questioned it at check out and was told it was marked "fresh", so it is. You guessed it, frozen and had to throw 1/2 away. My husband managed to cook the top part of it. Needless to say we ate a lot of veggies and desserts! We also bought a rotten turnip! Bad produce dept...we will never shop Stop & Shop again. Also couldn't find a couple of items and got bad information and ended up running around the store wasting my time. I did meet a really nice lady in line ( 20 min.-12 items and less line) and we had a few laughs! read more

Store is clean, though I read the restrooms aren't world class. Aisles are always clear, unlike in Quincy. That store is perpetually stocking! My issues usually are for items not scanning at right prices and the self checkout having a hissy fit and not wanting to take coupons. Nothing bad enough to make me go anywhere else, though I wish the technology worked smoothly. read more
