The samosa punjabi and mango lassi were just okay. There's nothing super good or bad to mention. The restaurant does have a little market off to the side that's worthy of mentioning. You can get 5 samosa pieces for $3.99. There was only one size for the lassi, and that was $3.50. The samosa weren't brimming with food inside, it was just the right amount. The mango lassi was sweet, but nothing obnoxiously sweet since it is a yogurt drink after all. Btw, the restaurant is to the left as you enter the gates of the property. read more

Really glad we came by to try this place! By the time we arrived last Saturday, it was past 7pm, so the made-to-order part of the cafe was no longer available, but we still were able to purchase a number of prepackaged delicious offerings: chili paneer, swaminarayan khichidi, handvo, papadino lot, veggie curry, and rotli. We also tried the gughra (freshly fried that day, the super helpful person behind the counter informed me) and... something else that was very sweet, crumbly, and yellow in color. But we were BIG fans of everything -- for me, the handvo stood out in particular. I had never eaten anything like that before, but it was delicious at room temperature with coffee! read more

Wow! What an awesome experience! It was absolutely wonderful to feel emersed in another culture! We had the samosa , friend lentil balls and some Indian sodas ! The samosas were soooo fresh and full of spices. The lentil balls were initially sweet but as you ate it became more savory and you really were able to appreciate all the flavors We took the audio guided tour at the Temple that is adjacent which was very informative, even if you don't most of the major images have descriptions and information regarding what you are viewing. We were able to be a part of a small ceremony which was very reverent. The grounds are so beautifully manicured. You are required to take of your shoes to enter the temple so you can tell the floor is very clean. The cravings are so intricate! It's incredible how they were able to achieve that amount of detail in stone! The smells, the sounds, and the views are mesmerizing! Let's just start by saying that this was my first visit here and it was beyond my expectations. The quality of the food - if you know Indian food (particularly Gujarati food) here is incredible. For what you'll pay, the quality is top-notch...I dare you to go looking anywhere in the area for the quality of this kind of food at this price...it just won't happen. Used to come here a lot when they first opened a few years after the temple was built and was really impressed with not only their grocery section full of Indian bites but also their array of great Indian street food. However, after a few years of not eating here, decided to come back and try it out again and I have to say their food quality is horrible. Their grocery section is still worth the trip though. Food: My mom and I had the lunch thali buffet which is all you can eat. My mom loves a good thali, and unfortunately I didn't see anything on their displayed menus that I usually get (being of Indian decent I'm extremely picky with my Indian food). This should've been red flag #1, but I just brushed it off and decided to get a thali as well. Now the thali had a decent array of foods to choose from, but no rice, no channa, and none of the usual things you associate with thalis. Their Puri was super oily, the mani was just ok, and the curries and other foods they had just weren't super flavorful. Additionally, they had no chutnis either - which is a big deal if you like to spice up your food. Compared to what they used to serve, it seems like they've sliced all the higher quality items from their menu (no pani puri or chaat?), and seriously downgraded their thali buffet. I opted to splurge on a mango kassi, which was super thick and a bit tart, but not so bad all things considered. Service: Counter service, so don't expect much, but I will have to say they always had a smile on their face and we're very courteous when taking our orders. Price: Their prices used to be a bit much, but now with the perceived quality downgrade, they are just way too expensive. Grocery: This is their saving grace and the only reason I'll be coming back in the future. I afforded them two stars just for this alone just because they have many things that are cooked in-house and actually done well. My family loves their hard puris and their different chevdos. Ambience: Don't expect much as it is a grocery/food court hybrid so it's just tables and chairs, but walking in you get that Indian smell that reminds you of home (if you're South Asian that is). All-in-all, idk why their food quality is so bad now for their food court because it actually used to be decent (I'd say at least 3.5-4 stars), but now it's just simply not good. Feels like their food court is only meant to service the temple workers with sub-par food. The fact that they don't have half the things on their menu (to be fair we came for lunch so maybe those items are dinner only?) anymore like dosas or chaats really disappoints me. Probably one of the most fresh and yummy Indian food in Atlanta. Here the must eat items that you need to buy are the handvo and dhokla. The buffet is ok but this week they had undhiyo which was amazing and fresh. It's a very small cafe with a grocery store where you can buy a lot of Indian snacks. We tried the khichdi and chaas which brought back childhood memories. We also ordered kachoris which were good too. I recommend that one should have breakfast or brunch here and then head to the temple next door. Overall, I highly recommend this place if you are looking for authentic Gujarati Indian food. read more

The khaman was exceptionally tasty with authentic Gujrati flavors. So was the undhiyu even though it was pre-made and frozen. It is with utter shame and disappointment that I have to write about this experience. We had heard a lot about the food here and my parents were eager to try it. We reached at 9 spent an hour at the temple and decided to go to this cafe for breakfast. Turns out, they open at 11. According to what they have on Google. So we waited for an hour. The café opened but the extremely rude heavy built man in his black outfit , very strong and almost incomprehensible Gujarati accent said they won't serve food until 1130. The man has no customer service ethic and shouldn't be made to interact with people. His social skills are below average to say the least. I told him that we had been waiting for an hour and that they should change their timings on Google or put up a notice outside letting people know that food is not served until 1130. To which he replied "that's not my responsibility, go online and leave a review or the website and write a feedback " and because we were really hungry we just picked up some packed snacks and took it to him for billing. Surprise surprise, he said the credit card machine is not working so he asks for cash and doesn't even give us a receipt. I'm pretty sure that money went straight into his pocket and he ain't paying any taxes on it. What is so heart breaking is that this is a part of the temple where one expects to be treated with respect and dignity. Such a shame. read more

I was visiting the BAPS temple and decided to check out this place, having high expectations. However, the restaurant is quite a mess. The cashier is overwhelmed and the restaurant seems to be understaffed. Many a table were left unclean, and I had to maneuver through the dirty tables to find a good seating place. My order consisted of the vegetarian Thali and coffee. Most of the items on my Thali meal were average, and the coffee was not good. To mention one positive thing about this restaurant: They have packaged Indian sweets, pickles, and snacks in shelves available for purchase here. The food is tasty and simple. They usually have a veggie option, daal, bean dish, rice, roti, sambar, and maybe a salad or one sweet. The food is in a buffet and costs appx $9. I am not sure why this place has 3 star rating in Yelp. To me they do not deserve anything less than 5 stars. They have best Gujarati style pure vegetarian food in town. I have visited this place 3-4 times in last year and they have served me same quality food every time. This is more like a restaurant who also sell prepackaged sacks to go. Coming to their food, their Khichdi is best in town. No Indian restaurant serves better Khichdi than this place. They put loads of different spices, vegetables, dry fruits. Also they use ghee (Indian purified butter ) in their cooking, which elevates the flavor couple of folds. It's pretty cheap too, the portion you get for 5.49$ is a steal. Try their Gujrati snacks such as Dhokla, Khandvi etc. My favorite is the Dhokla, very fluffy, juicy and very light. In one pack they normally serve 9 pieces. I can finish all 9 at one go, delicious. The place is very clean. It's self service restaurant so you need to follow self service etiquette. If you live anywhere near Baaps temple, without hesitation pay a visit to this place. read more

This is a great local restaurant in the Mountain Park area. They only serve 100% vegetarian food that has a very unique and authentic taste. The buffet options vary by day. Just remember unless it is a holiday they are closed on Monday. The beauty in this is you can enjoy a variety of foods, shop for a variety of snacks and sweets on top of visiting the magnificent mandir on the campus. Visitor hours for Mandir are 9:00 am - 6:00 pm. Built in 2007, it has been received extremely well by the community and visitors from all walks of life stop by with curiosity as to what it is. We went here for a mini-dinner after visiting the temple. I had the vegetable biryani, which was good, but it was pretty heavy on rice and light on vegetables. Since we were novices to this, and considering that this restaurant caters to tourists visiting the temple, we were disappointed that little explanation was offered regarding the menu items, the buffet, and the dessert case. The restaurant seemed like the Indian version of what you'd find at tourist attractions like Disneyland. I must say the dessert case looked outstanding, but we didn't know what anything was, and didn't venture to try any. I visited the place for the first time this past weekend after having heard friends rave about the food there. I thought they served just snacks but found out they actually have entire meals. We went there in the evening and really wanted some nice hot masala chai which was delish. We also tried the puff and the samosa chat and by Indian restaurant standards, they were both served fresh and piping hot. Although the two are basically fried and have a hard outer cover then filled with some form of potato stuffing inside, they are very different. The puff was amazingly soft and succulent and the samosa chat was mixed to perfection. They had a buffet/thali which some friends opted for and said it was equally worth it. I know I will be going back for more trials of their offerings. They also have a whole host of Indian desserts that you would typically find in a sweet shop in India. They also had some savory snacks which were great. I only gave them one star less for 2 reasons - the first being that you can only buy their packaged sweets in the manner they present it to you. So if you wanted to mix and match a few things that would not be possible. But some packages are pretty large and you might not be able to enjoy its contents fully before it goes bad. Typically all the desserts are made with milk and will keep fresh only for a few days at most. The second reason being what Paul P has mentioned in his review - if you are not Indian, you will be utterly lost here. There are no explanations or descriptors of what you see and that makes it difficult for many people to really venture into the different aisles and explore new delicacies. In fact, we are Indian and we had no clue what some things were! Other than that though, this is a great resturant to check out. I must warn you it is vegetarian so dont go there expecting chicken tikka masala! They have clean premises, rest rooms and service and ample parking as well. I would give 0 stars if I could. Here are the issues I have with them: 1. Their prices charged on the receipt don't match what they advertise. I have noticed this on 5 different occasions. First time, I got khari and fafda. One of the items was 4.99 and the other was 5.99 but they charged me 5.99 twice. On 2nd occasion, their menu advertised for Khaman was 2.99 for 5 pieces but they charged me 4.99 and when i protested they said they added 2 more pieces because it was a to-go item. They didn't advertise the difference between the dine-in price and the to-go price. On the 3rd occasion they advertised dahi puri for $5 but they charged me $5.50, I also got marcha which was labelled as $3.25 but they charged me $4. Every time I protested they tell me the price went up. It doesn't make how prices go up everyday. 2. They have some rude people serving there. There was a time I went there for pizza but they didn't have any. Instead of explaining to me calmly they started shouting at me. So I had to shout back. 3. Their food doesn't really seem fresh.Their pizzas has made my stomach sick on 2 different occasions. 4. Their drink machines are always out of service. They make you buy the bottled soda instead because they are supposed to give you a free drink with the thali but they don't want to do that so they never fix the machine. My advice to people who eat there: check your receipts. You will most likely find yourself ripped off. Its sad that such a noble organization does business like this.
