Another five star female-friendly toy store. I was beyond delighted to stumble upon She Bop in my travels in the Mississippi district. Could it possibly be as good as my beloved Babeland in NYC? The answer is a resounding Yes! I got there just after opening on a weekday so there was no one around and only a few people dropped by while I was browsing. At the suggestion of impressed friends we stopped by here with the intention of buying some new (quite expensive) toys for our anniversary weekend. The shop was small but had a good selection and one of the staff members told us if we had any questions all we had to do was ask. We thanked her and continued to look. After about 10 minutes we narrowed down what exactly we wanted. Just wanted to choose the right one because that's the important part, right? They have a table with some products out of the box and some in boxes (all different sizes and shapes and firmness) but not all the open ones are the same as the boxed ones and there are absolutely no signs about removing products from the boxes (I always check because some stores are pickier than others). So we were feeling the firmness of some of the products in the boxes and the other employee came over and scolded us saying that if we had any questions about the products that we could ask but we were not allowed to open boxes because someone would be taking that product home to use. It is already kind of awkward going into a sex shop to begin with but then being scolded on top of that with no prior warning or sign posted made it much worse to the point that we were uncomfortable enough to leave without any purchase. We will not be returning. Advice from someone that makes a living off of customer service; employees should probably have more tact if you aren't going to post signs or tell customers not to open boxes without assistance. I want to like this place, but I can't seem to have a comfortable encounter here, and neither can my male partner. Female friendly? Great idea! But, I never felt it. It's very small, very brightly lit, and overly interested sales people inquiring about my sex life. I'm far from prude, and not one person ever would describe me as "shy", but damn, relax, sales folk! Please, please, person behind the counter, don't come up to me and make recommendations unless I ask. Start with "hello", and perhaps, "let me know if you have questions", and then do not keep talking, least of all LOUDLY about what I have in my hand. If I wanted to buy condoms, I would, so don't badger me, or roll your eyes, it's not an item I need. Do I go to the grocery and roll my eyes at people who pass up steaks because I love them? No! Get over it, it's not what I'm here to buy. I get much more relaxed service at the traditional "seedy" locations around town. Please, make it female friendly, because I don't feel awesome in here. This place is pretty awesome, they excel in some areas but others are lacking.. I love their inclusivity, however they're kink selection is pretty weak, I can find a vibrator for any situation, but an o-ring gag, nope, real nipple clamps, nope. I do always trust what I buy there and when your magnetic do dad charger blows out they will replace it. I love many things about Shebop and am so grateful it exists! My one complaint is the return policy. There is a strict no-return policy on anything, unopened or not! I didn't notice that policy when I went in to return an unopened expensive bottle of lube, that I had changed my mind on. Luckily the person working there was kind and gave me an exception. However, they only gave me store credit and not an actual return, which was a bummer bc I do not shop at Shebop often and would have rather had the money in my pocket. While I understand that Shebop is a small, independently run store, and can't afford to have people returning things they actually used (not to mention the unsanitary factor), I want to encourage Shebop to reconsider its return policy, to perhaps allow for some things such as unopened lubes, books, videos, etc to be retuned if unused. I think that in the long run, their current policy will hurt their business, as people who are on the fence about something, but could later decide to keep it, may shop somewhere else with a more generous return policy. read more

I drove in the sweltering heat for 40 minutes to patronize your so called woman friendly shop and the moment I stepped into your very intimate space I was disappointed. First, I was ignored not even a hello. You were with a customer and I was next but when another woman came in after me you passed me over to help her instead. I came in to buy a strap on harness, a vibrator, butt plug, and a Kegel exerciser. I couldn't get a straight answer regarding the array of Kegel products you had. No one could tell me if they had feedback for what you are selling at Shebop. The worst part was that I was monitored the entire time as if I were a toddler. Touched a vibrator told to put it down, looking at butt plugs told not to take one out of the pack, as if I would, curious about the vaginal eggs told not to break them while the (owner?) actually came over and stopped me form touching them. Had questions about lube the attitude was so condescending and unhelpful. I happen to have more knowledge about sex toys and BDSM equipment than majority of the women you meet at your shop. Is this a problem for you? You prefer newbies? Instead of feeling valued as a sexually adventurous female I felt like an annoyance. I even asked, " Am i annoying you?" The answer was a quick laugh and a lie, "No." I was on the verge of tears when I left. Believe me if I didn't need the butt plug that day I would never have spent a dime in your shop. I am accustomed to Toys in Babeland in Seattle where I have spent a thousand dollars over the years and never had one bad experience.
