I went there on 10/21/23 at night, my first time going to this place. I showed them my Permanent Resident Card, and they refused it, saying "We don't take that id, do you have a Passport instead?" A Green Card/EAD, or Permanent Resident Card is a legal government issued identification card, and as such, it is used as a way to show one's identification. It is illegal that Steam refuses (and continues to refuse) to take a Permanent Resident card, and it a form of discrimination based on immigration status. When they refused my identification, they had assured that they were completely positive that they don't accept Permanent Resident Cards, and they had just refused a couple in front of me who had also showed their EAD's. They declined our access. I'm very disappointed that Steam is intentionally discriminating people, and I hope that the 2 employees at the moment where simply not informed/educated to understand this. read more

Was in town for a concert and decided to check this place out and I wasn't disappointed! I went on a Friday night at around 1AM. The facility is nonsmoking which is nice because the whole place doesn't reek of cigars or cigarettes like some other places I've been. They allow weed upstairs on their open balcony which is nice and has a lot of seating areas. My only complaint is that their flip flops suck. I have huge feet so that definitely contributed but they're small, very floppy, and hurt my toes. Bring your own shoes! Overall, this is one of the best bathhouses I've been to and will definitely be stopping back in anytime I'm in Portland. read more

So, I went to Steam last Wednesday, to give myself a little thrill on my birthday. It's a pretty cool place, actually. One could have A LOT of fun there. Outside deck upstairs, with smoking/non-smoking areas and chaise-lounges, 8-body hot tub (no touching in it) private rooms (consider getting a queen-bed room) 2 sling rooms, a bunch of glory holes, lots of play areas, big showers, boy-porn on a half-dozen big screens, a good-sized steam room (which sadly was closed that night) and vending machines for snack and drink refreshments. Anyway, Steam rocks, good place to hang out. The first-time through the door process takes about 5 minutes, and the flip-flops are complimentary, but only one size. You get a big towel, they keep your licence until check-out as collateral against late room/lost lock fees, and they have sex toys for sale. The floors can be kinda slippery, so watch your step. There are no hand rails in the concrete hallways, and 1 gentleman did slip and hit his head on the floor in front of me whilst I was walking to the shower area. The dress code inside is a)fully nude; 2)fetish wear, or iii) wrapped in one of the provided towels. Sex is ok anywhere inside (or outside on the deck) and there are a couple of couch-filled play area/viewing areas where the fun is most convenient. There are 4 levels of rooms (single bed, single with a TV, queen with a TV, and queen VIP) and the price starts at $25 and goes up $5 with each level increase. If you don't want a room, get a locker for $19. Either way, your admission gets you privileges in the facility for 8 hours, and you can renew to up to (I think?) 16 hours. The room lock is very secure (keep your key with you) and I had no problems with leaving my stuff on the bed. To discourage any shenanigans, leave your room light on, just like you do when you go away from home for the weekend. The only complaints I have are in regard to the safety of the slippery floor, and that they are 100% guys only. Not even a 'bi' night, or couples night, to allow women inside. There are women who aren't threatened by nude men, and would enjoy playing with bisexual men. Maybe they should look into opening a Steamy Girls counterpart facility, for women who want to enjoy steam rooms and hot tubs, with or without the lesbian aspect of the experience. The staff was super friendly and helpful, and very patient with all of my first-timer questions.
