The suite is immaculate and the gardens in the back are beautiful and serene. It's walking distance to Church St. Marketplace and Waterfront park. It's not a traditional B&B but more of a grab and go which is perfectly fine with me since there are lots of places to eat within 3 blocks. Do yourself a favor and don't stay in a hotel, you would be missing out on a gem.

I found this location on Vermont.org after striking out with other preferred choices. The positives are many: Greeted by Shannon who was very helpful and informative. The "not set up for credit cards" is a plus for me - I like the notion that merchants are pushing back on the high bank fees. The room was clean and the bed was very comfortable. Plenty of towels While there is not hot breakfast served there was plenty available in the room's fridge: grass fed cows milk, Vermont cheddar, 4 containers of stonyfield yogurt, granola made by local coop, freshly ground coffee, etc...and the needed utensils/dishes The suite had fans and AC...but since I do not like AC, I loved having the fans available. all in all - a nice experience.

We didn't need them but it was nice to have it in case we needed it. We got the suite which was so beautiful. Now the owners!!! I cannot say enough. They are SO lovely and such nice people. Our breakfast was the best during our entire trip! We stayed in Shelburne for 2 days and then went to Stowe and then Bennington and we could not stop talking about the breakfast at the heart of the village inn! It was fresh, so tasty and definitely home made!! The BEDS are the most comfortable thing in the world that I even messaged them after I left to ask what mattress it was. This was so beautiful and if you want to save on lunch, trust me you will because the breakfast is just YUMMMM

The man who runs (owns) this place has real anger issues. Nothing warm about this place. Especially don't like the way he speaks to his wife. There are so many quaint B&B 's in Vermont. This is not one of them. Avoid unless you like cold, stern, humorless hosts with a curt attitude.

I know it was October, the end of the season. but I still expected the cabin to be clean. The bathroom mirror was a mess and the baseboard had a season's worth of hair and dust from other guests. There were unwashed coffee cups and a big smear on the picture window. It was disappointin. Breakfasts were tolerable, melon the best part. Under the prior ownership, the lodge cooked custom breakfasts with the best muffins ever (fond memories of French puff and raspberry muffins), not a lukewarm buffet. We had dinner for 6 there one night and it was a debacle. Service could not have been worse. One fellow ordered an appetizer as his main course and it was dellivered to the center of the table for people to share. Plates came out at random so some people ate while others waited. One friend and I waited more than a hour while everyone else finished their dinners. We finally got our two dinners as one of our party finished his dessert. The timing was the worst I've ever experienced. The waitress was incompetent and had to be reminded to bring anything we needed. The dining experience was so wretched that I don't even remember the food. The cold lack of hospitality, the state of our cabin, and the at best mediocrity of our dining has led us to find another place to stay when we visit. We can do better and pay less.

The day before, my husband picked up a big 22-pound bird that had just been butchered a few days ago. It was so fresh that I had a few tiny feathers floating around in my brine. It was so fresh that I could just barely separate the skin from the breast meat to rub in the butter and fresh thyme, which the Girls also so generously provided. It was so fresh I didn't really have to tie together the legs or pin down the wings. It was so fresh that you could *taste* it. And this was (or had been) one healthy turkey! You could tell by the quality of the skin, the texture of the uncooked meat, the size of the bones!!! Man, this turkey had been doing some weight-bearing exercises or something! Huge leg bones. Wings you could make a meal of. I can't wait to taste the broth. Yet the meat was as tender as it was flavorful. Now, with fresh turkey from a farm, you're gonna want to brine it. My 22-lb bird fit in the brining bag from the grocery store beautifully. I put in 1.5 cups of salt, a cup of sugar, and about 2 gallons of water, and I let her sit for about 18 hours. I rinsed her real well; patted her dry; stuffed her with onion, carrots, and celery; covered her with a pound of bacon; wrapped her up tightly in tinfoil; and then I let her roast at 425 degrees for about 3 hours, unwrapped her, and let her brown for about 30 more. Perfect. Tomorrow I'm making turkey pot pie and turkey stock--with locally grown carrots, onions, garlic, and celery. I love knowing that my turkey had been well-cared for and loved, that she is about as organic as you can get, and that her purchase supported my favorite local farm girls. And my guests loved that tender, tasty turkey.

If no one is available to show me where items are in the disorganized room or to help me use my credit card, I would be at a loss. Prices were high, as they should be, but convenience should be elevated as well. Good luck to them as they sort these issues out.
