I love, love, LOVE everything about this salon! I went to their opening house a couple of years ago, and fell in love with the trendy decor and the uber friendly staff! I have been seeing Jennifer and Krissy, the gurus of hair, for the past two years and have never walked away unhappy. All I've ever had to do was tell them what I want the color to be, if I want a cut or just a trim, and they take it from there. I fully trust them, and I love the new line of hair care they've introduced me to! (Davines - it's a high quality line that uses all natural ingridients, and is environmentally friendly!). I did have to get use to my shampoo not lathering up (bc there's no SLS in it, which is a huge bonus! - Do your research). It does cost a little bit more than OTC products, but my Davines definitely last a good while so I'm ok with paying a few extra bucks to switch over to a highly respected product line. The only thing I would suggest to first-timers is DO NOT WAIT UNTIL THE LAST MINUTE TO BOOK YOUR APPT! (That really goes to say with any great salon, though). It is a small, privately owned salon with limited room for stylists, each of whom has a lot of repeat clients who always prebook their appointments, so understandably, their books get full pretty quickly. Anyone who goes to Shear Headcase will absolutely love it! I highly reccommend seeing Jennifer, Krissy, or Jamie (don't really know the other stylists, but I'm sure they're great as well!) for all of your hair care needs!! read more

People- go to Shear Headcase; you will not regret it! Krissy is the Bomb! Krissy has been cutting my hair since she was in training. She has a real knack for cutting your hair to fit 'you'. Krissy intuitively seeks beauty in everyone, and she finds it with her scissors. I always look and feel brand-new when Krissy cuts my hair. Shear Headcase is a charming little salon, next to but not in the Hill Country Galleria, which is really nice if you need to combine shopping with beautifying. I live at the other side of the county, and it's a pretty long drive (40 miles!), so that is a perk for me. (Let me be clear-in my opinion, Shear Headcase is so good, it's totally worth the drive.) I also really, really like the Davinas products available at Shear Headcase. I think my hair is already addicted! It was different hair after the first use. Thanks, Krissy! The services at Shear Headcase are very reasonably priced; the Davines products are a bit more pricey, but unlike anything I have ever used. My hair loves it, and I will be re-purchasing. read more

After having the same hair color for 4 years I knew it was time for a change, but change can be very scary especially with hair. Bo is the 3rd stylist I have had in 22 years. I was unsure of what I wanted, and Bo totally vibed with me. I have found an awesome new stylist and I am ecstatic with my new cut and wonderful color! And I am constantly getting compliments on my new do. The salon is very quaint and relaxing and perfect with a glass of wine! I almost fell asleep as I was getting my hair washed. I also bought the Davines love system and my hair is so soft, and in way better shape than when I had walked in. The salon is totally worth the price! read more

I was looking for a place where my daughter and I could get our hair cut to donate it for cancer patients. I was referred by a friend to Shear Headcase and I could not have been happier. Taylor was amazing with my 7 year old daughter. She was so positive and talented! We were lucky to find her as it was an emotional day - cutting her precious long hair and thinking of my dear friend with cancer. The front desk staff was amazing and looked up all the rules for donating and mailed the hair off for us. We were there 2.5 hours for both of us and they were so patient with our craziness. I was so pleased to find a professional stylist (April) and lovely environment in which to have my hair done! I don't know about you, but I have had enough of "walk-in" and wait hair cuts, never with the same stylist! I love my hair cut and can't wait to go back for another scalp massage...who knew so much tension was stored up there! April took time and really listened to what I had to say about what I wanted. Having moved out to this area of Austin about six months ago, I am working my way through the different restaurants, hair and nail salons, pet stores, auto garages etc. Yelp is a great way to quickly get a (hopefully) unbiased and honest review of different establishments-that said-this is a cute, friendly hair salon-easy to find and easy to communicate with which is a big deal for me as I value my time. My wife, not myself has had her hair cut and highlghts put in twice there. Both times she, as well as myself couldnt be happier! The owner Jennifer is such a sweet lady and Danica, my wifes stylist, knocks it out of the park everytime. My wife JUST sent me pics of her new do attached with a text stating how pretty she feels. Well she is the MOST beautiful women to me everyday and I'm so thankful when she can go get somethng like this done and be made to feel as I see her. It was my first time going to Shear Headcase and I was not disappointed. Bo did an awesome job picking out a color for my hair! He was completely confident when most stylists can't figure out what to do. My hair is thick and wavy. So I know it's a bit complicated. I never know what to do, I just have an idea. UPDATE After subsequent appointments for myself and my husband, we were so disappointed and did not go back. The owners are super nice cool people, but my hair was a mess. I drove out of state to my previous stylist for a fix, and was embarrassed for him to see how bad the cut and color was. I don't want to hurt any feelings, so I'm just saying "It's not for me"... My review is about the extraordinary stylist Beau @ very eclectic Shear Headcase Salon in beautiful Bee Cave!! He is amazing~ best haircut I think I have ever had. He is patient and listens to what you want (which is rare!) and is a great conversationalist. The prices are very reasonable and competitive. Not to mention the head massage you get after the shampoo is amazing and you want to rebook your next appointment immediately! After a year of less than stellar haircuts elsewhere, I made an appontment with Danica. It was everything I had hoped for and more! She really listened to my concerns with short hair, cut it dry so we could really see where it was going, and it was perfect! I highly recommend Danica and this salon to those who might be looking for a stylist in this area. Though I live in Buda, Shear Headcase is SO worth the drive. I've found that my hair always looks its best when I just give Krissy free rein. Last year she convinced me to grow my hair out, after wearing it short for 15 years. There was a brief time that I feared "the transition cut," but Krissy got me through it with ease.
