Danny Carter I have been going to Wild Orchid for several cuts by Ashley since she was at the Westlake location. I enjoyed the friendly attentive staff and Ashley's professionism and cuts (obviously as I returned several times). Hearing that Ashley had transfered to Bee Cave/Lakeway I went ahead and made an appointment there yesterday (Wednesday April 30 at 10am). I was told Ashley had upped her price by $10 in an advanced email prior to my appointment. The email also stated that any NO SHOW of my appointment would result in a 50% charge on my credit card on file. The total drive from my home to Wild Orchid was over 45 minutes. Upon arriving a few minutes before my appointment time, I was greeted by at least 3 people offering me something to drink, which was greatly appreciated for the customer service. But after waiting for nearly 10 minutes for Ashley to show, I left because Ashley didn't call, text or notify anyone anything about her NO SHOW. And still today, I have yet to hear of any apology or excuse as to why she didn't show or call. Not a word from management either. I should expect a 50% refund from my last appointment. Neither was I offered a included hair wash with any of my previous appointments that I was unaware it came with the cost of the cut. I thought I'd found the one stylist I could depend on to do my hair the way I wanted and was willing to travel over an hour and 15 minutes round trip to get. But I will NOT be going back to Ashley nor Wild Orchid for anything UNLESS they make this right. So far, I've heard nothing. read more

I think they have some talented people working here and the price was not over the top so I was happy! I made an online appointment on 7/10 - they had availability the next day 7/11. I've never been here. I was looking to go from a bob to more of a pixie. So I was nervous about going in. But let me tell you. Firstly the salon was clean and beautiful. The front desk I belive her name was Kennedy - so pleasant when I walked in- greeted me with a smile. Then Ashley came over and grabbed me. She was so wonderful!!! She was so happy and energetic I felt so comfortable immediately!!! Then I sat in her chair and we went through a consult and she made me so comfortable I like do you whatever you want ! Haha. I booked the wrong hair cut online but she was so honest about it and the price difference and how to book next. So unfortunately with my booking error she only 30 min for me. Ashley explained if I was ok with it she could skip my blow dry and do a dry cut then a wet cut. Sounds perfect for me. We did a dry cut and I wanted some adjustments and she recommended we wash and see how it lays with it wet and my texture. So we did that and she cut into it more. And I love so much that o wanted to go shorter and she explained why I shouldn't just yet. Wana know why? CAUSE THEY HAVE A 2 WEEK GUARANTEE ON THEIR HAIRCUTS! So that made me feel so confident that if I want to go shorter I can come back in two weeks after being able to style it and play with. What an amazing perk to have!! Anywhoo I will be back! Impossible to book. Cancelled me 3 times. When you do get an appt it can also be cancelled 3 times. After your 5-month wait, you get your hair done, but they never ask to make a next appointment, which is like an invitation to leave or an acknowledgement that they are understaffed. Aside from having NEVER been afforded an un-re scheduled appointment, they made me feel unwelcome. This business has done NOTHING to even pretend that they want my money, or customers in general. I was charged almost three times as much for a bridal updo than what the employee quoted on the phone. The employee assured me it would be no more than $80 for a bridal updo, and I ended up being charged $150...plus another $80 for a "practice" session that I didn't ask for (and was never warned would cost anything). Not sure what the point of the practice session was, since the stylist ended up giving me a completely different updo on my wedding day, while giving me a little bit of attitude when I pointed it out). Unless you're looking to spend over $200 for an updo, steer clear! read more

I initially went there because I had gotten a referral to see Olivia because she had gotten an Asian woman's hair down to the level I wanted. I was leaving to go to California for my niece's graduation. I left there that day and had exactly 7 streaks in my black hair that were orange, red, and yellow. I left the next day and called Wild Orchid to speak to the manager and didn't receive a call back. When I got back into town, I called several times again. I finally was able to speak to the salon owner, Danielle. She understood the situation and decided to put me with a more experienced colorist. I went in and spoke with Danielle, who was lovely and more than willing to rectify the issue. Jorge was my new colorist and by the way he worked, you could tell he was a professional. Completely talented. I left there almost crying because I love my hair now so much and it is exactly what I was looking for initially. Danielle's mother who was answering phones was a class act. Such nice people. After I was done, I went to the front and wanted to leave a tip for Jorge because Danielle had told me that to fix my hair was free of charge. Olivia told me, "That will be $215." I said I'm sorry I was told it was no charge and she looked down her nose at me and said "uh no." So I asked her to call Danielle. Of course there was no charge to fix it. Danielle and I had already discussed it but I still wanted to tip my colorist. Very satisfied with my hair now! Three compliments at work today. The way the appointment ended with the cashier(initial colorist)was the only downfall. read more

I have been a devoted client of the downtown Wild Orchid location for over 3 years, but recently needed a cut and I found out my favorite stylist has left :( Because I was looking to get my cut pretty soon, I looked at other branches to find a time with a stylist who had good reviews, and ended up with the Bee Cave locale and Kelsie. I am a nervous hair cut client as is, especially with a new stylist and I was looking for a drastic cut- we're talking 5 plus inches. I explained all this to Kelsie who was so sweet and nice and easy to talk to. She looked at photos I had brought and commented on what would suit me and really got me excited for the change! We talked nonstop while she cut, which actually distracted me and before I knew it- 5 inches were gone! The cut is EXACTLY what I wanted, so cute, easy to style, and she was super communicative the whole time about what she was doing and how to style it, and kept asking for my input to make sure my bangs were the length I wanted, etc. The best part is she also works at the downtown location one day a week! I will absolutely be using Kelsie from now on! The only reason I took a star away, in full disclosure, is because getting my hair washed is my favorite part of the experience, and it was a bit short without any massaging. read more

As I'm styling my hair this morning and cringing at the broken off pieces of hair sticking out all over the place, I wonder to myself why I have yet to post a review about this salon. Well, here it goes. I've had 2 services preformed at this salon and they both completely and utterly DESTROYED my hair. Here is a summary of both: Haircut by Morgan. See uploaded photos. I have no idea what in the world she was doing here. It's almost like she just despised me and this was her way of getting at me. I had to come back in to get it fixed (for free), but my hair had to be cut MUCH shorter than I ever would want in order to fix it. The girls at the salon took pics of my hair and said it looked like a little girl had cut her Barbie's hair. YEAH. Disaster #1. Balayage by Melissa. See uploaded photos. Melissa put me under the dryer, which apparently is not supposed to be done with balayage treatment. My hair broke off in almost every place possible, starting 2 inches down from my roots (exactly where the balayage began). There is no way to repair this. My hair has to grow out completely. Also, the highlights were an outright joke. Refer to photos. I came back to have this fixed (for free), and the girl who corrected the baylayage was SHOCKED by what Melissa had done. "I can't figure it out..." were her exact words. Disaster #2. Besides the fact that my hair has been annihilated TWICE at this salon, I'm also frustrated that I was not refunded my money. I deeply feel the need to warn others of these catastrophic hair experiences! P.S.-- I messaged the owner, Danielle Benson, on Facebook after the second hair disaster happened in March 2016. She "read" the message but never replied. After explaining the problems and attaching pics to the message, one would assume the owner would want to contact you directly. read more

Horrible experience! 5 hours in the chair for a color/highlight. My hair looks horrible and looks grey/dark, drab brown. The stylist stained my face with the hair color, sprayed water down my back, and kept asking me to trust him. I do NOT recommend this salon at all. Almost $500 out for a horrible experience. My first haircut/color with Danielle was amazing! The second and third appointments weren't as great. Each time she was running at least 20 minutes behind and then seemed very rushed. My hair never looked the way it did the first time. I wish she worked on the weekends, but that is just for my own convenience with my work schedule. The receptionist is very nice and they are very careful regarding Covid which were both pluses. I wanted to love it there....but, back to looking for another stylist. read more

As a devoted blonde (who may not be so naturally blonde) I am extremely picky about where I get my hair colored! I moved to Austin about 3 years ago, and was terrified that I would have to find someone new color my hair, well thank God I found Danielle (hair color master/goddess) at Wild Orchid. Seriously this girl is AMAZING!!! Not only was she able to get my bleach blonde color back to a more natural blonde blend, but she's also managed to maintain it/ bring it back to a healthier state so it would grow again!!! (Breakage from being so blonde/dying my hair so often was really starting to take a negative toll on my length- PS this was something that was absolutely devastating me!!) .. But not kidding, once I started getting my hair done with Danielle, people noticed! Girls at work started asking me where I get hair colored, so clearly it was noticable to more than just myself!! So if you are anything like me- picky about your color, having issues with damaged hair from coloring, or wanting a more natural but still vibrant color blend, then Danielle is your girl!! Make an appointment and you'll immediately see why she's the best in Austin! ...But be forewarned, girls schedule is jam packed (because she's that good) so make your appointment early.. aka before those roots are already popping out lol Ps I even had her do my hair for my wedding (because now I don't trust anyone else to touch these golden locks), and it was fabulous!! Had my first post covid haircut here and Frank was amazing. He knew exactly what my hair needed - and I am a happy new client.

I came in months ago for a Brazilian Blow Out special they were offering. On the initial phone call to book the appointment a guy was polite, but didn't really listen to me. I told him my hair length was long and thick, so I wanted to know if the discount still applied or if there would be additional fees for extra supplies used... I was still interested in the appointment with or without the special, but just wanted to know. He said it wouldn't matter my hair type and that it would be "X percent off" for this specific service. Great. So I book it, and come in. The stylist (and at this point I cannot remember her name confidently enough to put her on blast here) immediately tells me my hair is really long and thick and I would be charged more. I said, ok, and did tell her about the front desk guy telling me that wouldn't be the case. I was never openly upset, because I can understand, and again still wanted the treatment. My hair is so thick and hard for me to manage so I was really looking forward to this for the first time, since I saw it do wonders for my mom's hair. Before we started, and after she assessed my hair, I said since the front desk gave me different info, can I confirm he said the offer will be "x percent off of this type of blowout" (it's been since February 2019 and I really can't remember the specific offer because I've taken so long to review)... and she said, it's not that offer at all. She said that it would be some kind of discount etc etc but all I remember is it was more than the initial offer from their website and what the front desk told me. I still wanted the treatment because again, my hair is a challenge for me to keep long/nice. So we proceed. As we start, the stylist was really impatient seeming and not very talkative. I felt awkward so I try to start talking and she does kind of open up. We find out we know the same person and it was her old roommate who also did hair, so that also kind of helped her open up more. I never got super upset until she was hours in and on the next to last step of the treatment for my hair. She said, "Hey! Would it be ok with you if you just finish this at home?" I really couldn't believe she asked me that and I said, aren't you almost done? She said well, you have soooo much hair and I just didn't know, and the guy at the front desk will go over his hours, so I think maybe you could finish this at home and it'd be great! She said this word for word. I felt so weird and was just sitting there and finally said, What would I need to do to finish? She said, "well just go wash it one more time with a shampoo that won't undo the whole process and just blow dry super straight. If you wash with the wrong shampoo it will totally undo this treatment and you will have wasted your money." Um...... I'm spending basically full price since I'm getting overcharged for more product use, and dealing with all of the misinformation AND now I'm being pushed to go finish my own hair??????? Hair I can't really get straight and manageable on my own in the first place so that's why I'm there?????????? Some of you may be reading this far and think, why did you wait so long to review? Honestly it's because we knew the same person and the person we both know is super sweet. I didn't want her to think I was being difficult but as it's now time for me to find a new place to get new treatment (hopefully done right this time) it reminded me I never stood up for myself. So I'm still just sitting there and I'm like, ok, well, it's actually really hard for me to finish my hair that's kind of why I'm here. I was never showing her I was upset but should have. She literally kept pushing. She brought out a WAIVER and said hey yeah it'll be great- you'll do great! Can you just sign here? I was so shocked and just felt super pressured to do it, and plus I thought I would just pay for partial service. So I scribble a lack of signature because I'm so weirded out. The waiver said I wouldn't ask for my money back upon leaving to finish my hair myself. And guess what? She still charged me full price. AND I PAID IT, PLUS TIPPED HER. Because I was an idiot. It was the weirdest experience I have ever had and the only reason I went here is because it seemed like a high end establishment and I was really happy to spend whatever it took to get my hair perfect. Oh, to top it off, I had asked her what purple shampoo (my hair was ombre blonde at the time) they had that wouldn't mess my hair up from the treatment and she said Oh I don't know you'll have to look, I'm just not sure. REALLY? I'm really glad I'm finally reviewing and hope this helps anyone ask better questions than I did if you're thinking about going in and have middle of your back long hair. Honestly the way she acted was like my hair was down to my knees. She had 2 steps left to wash the treatment out and blow dry straight... maybe 45 mins and they wouldn't have even been closed yet & she didn't have an appointment after me. read more

I've been to this salon often and have been satisfied. The last time I went, however was a bit a disaster. When my color/highlights were finished after 2.5 hours there were no highlights! They were supposed to be caramel color highlights (as I had the visit before, and she even used the card with the color specifics on it) but instead they were bright red. The stylist applied so much toner that eventually even the red highlights disappeared. At the end of the 2.5 hours my stylist looked at my hair and said "Sorry, my bad." She did say I could come back next week and she would try again, but I''m not comfortable with that stylist working on my hair. The next day the salon sent an email survey, which I filled out with the details of my unhappy experience. The salon has not responded. I feel that if they were interested enough to send a survey they should at least respond to customers that are not satisfied. I would have been happy with a response saying "Sorry this happened, please come back and we will make it right." Sadly, the Customer Service = Fail. read more

So this rating reflects the price of my experience. The salon itself is pretty cute, the staff was super sweet & inviting, and my overall haircut & highlights turned out great! However, the pricing was ridiculously high for what competition is out here. I'm from this area and have been getting my hair cut at various salons for years now. They usually charge around $150 for a highlight and cut... but I ended up spending almost $300 here. And the results weren't "wow" to me. In fact, I had scheduled for a color, highlight, & cut. Half way through the highlight process my hairdresser didn't check my appointment details and forgot to do the color part. In all honestly, I'm glad I didn't waste the money and time on that. It's stupid expensive here for mediocre results. Smh. Never coming back. read more

I've been seeing Elyse here for almost a year now. The first time she did it - I was so impressed I knew I would never go anywhere else! She asks lots of questions about your history, the look you're trying to achieve and remembers it all - she's even reminded ME of a few things on my own hair that I forgot about. It's easy to have a casual conversation with her and she takes her time perfecting everything she does! Run from this salon if you value your crowning glory. My hair was to my waist and I made an appointment for long layers with a full highlight. I requested the highlights be subtle and that my hair not be cut short as the length helps pull out the frizzies. I visually showed him the length I would agree to which was mid chest. I ended up with a partial balayage and shoulder length hair. Not a happy camper. Everyone I know says "what happened to your hair, it was so beautiful." Jeris did what he wanted instead of what I requested. I wish I had never heard of Wild Orchid as my hair is the worst it has ever been and will take years to grow back out. I wish I could post before and after pictures and you would also be appalled. I am so unhappy and there is no way to fix it. read more
