Mary and Bina were amazing. The salon is so gorgeous and they both do a great job at making you feel welcomed. I went for a hair cut, and Bina really cut my hair super precisely and helped make it super healthy again. She also threaded my eyebrows perfectly- i have sensitive skin and she attentively did smaller pulls to help accommodate me. Both women are so sweet and genuinely want to help make you look and feel your best. Just make sure you tell her exactly what you want because she tends to get a bit carried away and might cut off a little extra! Pricing is fair, compared to some higher end salons that charge you a tooth and nail. The staff is really kind and understanding. If I had my way, I would not give this establishment not even 1 star! This salon came recommended and I can't even imagine what their criteria was for benchmarking such a review! When I called to make an appointment I asked specifically if they had a stylist who knew how to use a razor on my hair. My hair is thick and the technique provides a much softer look for me. I was told yes so I booked an appointment. My appointment was earlier today and I called again to let them know I was on my way and I again for the second time asked if there was someone there who knew how to use a razor. Again, I was told yes. The owner is a hot mess!! Her attentions are not on her paying customer who booked an appointment at a specific time but, on everything else going on in her salon. My appointment was for a single process color and a haircut. She was told to match the color - it was close. When I got in the chair for her to give me a razor cut she took out a buzzer!!! I said to her I asked for a razor cut and she said she wanted to take some hair off and "will see" if she needed to use a razor. Excuse me? Who does she think she is??!? She used a buzzer on my entire head!! Some scissor work at the top until I stopped her! I look like a man!! This owner needs to listen to her customers, this owner needs to learn how to speak to her customers to understand what they are looking for and not yes them to the point where the customer has to stop the stylist from completing the cut because their needs have not been met! This salon is a hot mess!!! Who buzz cuts the head of a 2 month old infant who only has mere peach fuzz as hair - is a quick buck all your looking for?? Shame on this woman!!! First off, let me say that I am an extremely happy first time customer! I am always nervous getting my extremely curly and thick, yet baby fine stranded hair done by new people. I have had high end salons(its name starts with an A) in Huntington, put in supposedly safe herbal straighteners and take my hair out! So yes, I was a justifiably nervous new customer!! I am now singing their praises!! I have never been happier with results from a blow out treatment. I let Mary, the owner/operator pick between the Brazilian or Keratin treatment... She said Keratin for my hair. It had no chemical smell(it smelled like cookies!) and her crew were very patient and meticulous in making sure my crazy hair was tamed! After the 3 to 4 hours of blow drying that was needed!!! Yes, my hair is Crazy!!! Mary basically looked at me and said you need a cut... No argument, LOL... It has been like 3 years and I had some pieces to my waist and others broken off at pony tail holder length. She somehow left length and yet got it looking even and fab in minutes!!! So I guess that makes her part magician because I do not know how she managed it!! I basically had been trimming it myself and even I had not attempted it other than whacking off the pieces that seemed to grow faster, like weeds, on occasion! Also, got my nails done while waiting out the half hour the product had to sit on my head. They have a beautiful spa like nail salon in the back. The whole place is beautiful and artfully decorated! I love this place and now will be a happy customer for the foreseeable future. I wish I had found it sooner, but my snobbery kept me inside the village of Huntington for way too many years. I would have paid double in Manhattan for the same treatment... And back in the day paid waaaay too much at Ouidad NYC for what I could have had here! Be patient, they are BUSY... And the clientele looked like the UN, from Blonds to Brazilians, and every one walked out with amazing hair!! This place has the talent and know how for every head out there!! I've been coming to Shear Honesty for close to 20years. The owner Mary & her staff are practically family at this point & do everything possible to make it a pleasant visit. However this isn't just her approach to me, but to all her clients as Ive been going there long enough to observe how she interacts with all her customers. The salon has also recently been renovated and it's not only beautiful, with a waterfall wall gently running along with fresh cut flowers that just sets a warm and inviting tone. There's also of course a late flat screen tv if your kids need something to do while they wait. The other hairdressers as well as the desk lady are extremely friendly & couldn't be more helpful. Most recently my children & I visited so my son & I could get a haircut and rather than have my daughter sit & wait, Mary took my daughter to the nail & pedicure part of her salon & insisted on having her nails done on her! Again as a man & a Father of two I couldn't have asked for a better haircut experience especially with two young kids. We all left feeling great & taken care of. Thank you so much Mary & team!!
