I wish I had read the reviews before going to this salon and having Sarah do my hair. They have no problem collecting a huge fee for services but the owner is rude and refuses to acknowledge there is a problem and won't make things right. He wasn't there, never saw my hair color (graying and old blond color) and the pictures I had of what I wanted but sure had a big response to my review. I had a Brazilian Blowout done Wednesday by Lauren Crosson and would highly recommend her. She was very knowledgable and professional and did a great job. My hair is smooth and free of all frizz. This process makes your hair more manageable in the Florida weather. I will definitely be back for another treatment in the future. I would also like to say how well this salon is managed. Hoping my original review won't be erased by posting this 'updated' review. (I'll copy and paste it below just in case) The salon's response to my review was incorrect (perhaps they have me confused with someone else??), so in hopes of clearing up the inaccuracies, I'm responding with this 'updated' review. No one from the salon followed up after my service and I certainly never said that "the color was perfect" or that I appreciated being stuck at the salon for 4 hours while they tried to fix the color. Yes, the stylist was very nice, but niceness doesn't make up for the fact that my hair was damaged so badly that it will take years to recover, my service took twice as long as it should have, and I spent over $200 for color that completely missed the mark. The fact that I wrote my yelp review months after the service means nothing other than I'm busy and don't make yelp a priority. Lastly, I did contact the salon and left a message for the stylist with the receptionist, but was not given a call back. I did give them the opportunity to address the issue appropriately. Today, about a year later, my hair is still very damaged. My review is fair and honest and designed only for the purpose of this app - to allow consumers to share they're experiences so that other consumers can make informed decisions. Original Review: After having my hair colored at this salon, I had to go to another salon to get it fixed. I've had my hair colored a few times over the years, but Shear Rituals over processed and damaged my hair so much that the only 'fix' another salon could do was to correct the color. The damage itself is irreversible. It will take years for my hair to grow out and recover. Excellent Aveda product line and stylists that are into the most up to date styles and excited about their careers . Use great hair tools and invest in being the best stylists . I went to Mark for a haircut and the Brazilian Blowout... now that I have been home for a few days and washed it myself, I am truly amazed! It is so nice to just be able to blowdry my hair and have it silky smooth without having to spend time using a straightener in the morning and I've already gotten so many compliments! I made an appointment for a haircut with a stylist I was unfamiliar with because the one I preferred no longer works there. I discussed what I wanted EXTENSIVELY. When it was said and done I literally had the opposite of what I asked for. I knew it was bad when I left but didnt want to keep complaining because I made several attempts to get her back on track already during the cut. I wasn't fully aware of how bad it was until after I got home and it was truly completely dry. I called the salon and asked to have it fixed. They couldn't get me in for many days. I called back and insisted. In the end I just didn't want the same stylist. If she had no clue the first time, how was she going to suddenly understand or gain the skills? They only wanted her to do it but finally agreed to someone else but it would be over a week or more. Apparently every other customer was more important, and their attitude said it too. This haircut is embarrassing, I don't want to wait a week and a half and I have a huge event coming up. I asked for a refund so I could go somewhere else to have it fixed. In the end they would not issue a refund, really? For a repeat customer who previously left a stellar review? This is only $35 but it meant a lot to me because it was my entire budget for this haircut. The outcome was not a difference of opinion, it was either the stylist was incompetent (she was very young) or she completely missed the 3 conversations and photograph I showed her. To tell people 'too bad you don't like it, we're keeping your money anyway' is simply bad business and shows very poor character. This is a want to be upscale salon located in an old strip mall in Bradenton. Get over yourselves. *I did have this dried at the shop enough so it could be assessed and was charged for a blow dry - hence the $35.00 cost of the cut, not $25.00. read more

This was my first appointment at Shear Rituals, but it will not be my last. The girl at the front desk offered me coffee or water, and made me feel welcome and comfortable. I've visited this salon twice and am disappointed with the skill versus level of stylists. I always get root connection and high/low lights. I've been having this done for the last 7 years and have never had a stylist just slop it on the way both did. My hair is naturally brown, and I keep it light brown at the root and lowlight with blonde highlights. The root connection they performed was from my scalp down my hair at least 1 inch. I recently moved to Bradenton and wanted to stay with an Aveda salon because I like their products and training ethics. However, this salon is far from any of the Aveda salon's I've used. Stylists generally advance levels by gaining experience and taking Aveda training courses. At this salon, a stylist advances levels based on the quantity of product they sell. After two appointments with this salon I am forced to find another salon and hopefully correct the damage they have done to my color and highlights. Not happy with this salon, they need more experienced stylists/colorists! read more

I could not have had a better experience! I found Shear Rituals online whilst searching for Aveda salons near me and as luck would have it it was located right down the street from my home. Ive always loved Aveda products and have used them in the past. The scent alone is enough reason to patronize an Aveda salon but the brand seems to act as a sort of "quality control" insurance...not only in the appearance and vibe but an indicator and promise of the skill level and service of its employees. Everyone there was welcoming and pleasant. Where there are Aveda products, talented stylist abound and I definitely was not disappointed. I came in for a haircut and left feeling rejuvenated, looking great and feeling great. A haircut can do that. Especially a GREAT haircut, which is what I got from Kris. It has been exactly a month since my wedding, and looking back on the day so much is still a colorful blur. However I am certain that the best decision I ever made, (maybe even a better decision than marrying my now husband) was asking Mark Walker and his salon Shear Rituals to do mine and my maids hair!!  From the moment I met Mark he was charming, down to earth and accommodating. I live in Los Angeles and from October until May corresponded with Mark via text and phone calls. He was always available to me and my many questions, and this alleviated so much stress.  When I went for hair my run through in April, I felt like Mark was an old friend. We laughed and had so much fun that I invited he and Matt to our wedding as guests.  On the day of the wedding Mark, Matt and Jaime were phenomenal! Every hairstyle was unique and more beautiful than the last. They were calm, but energetic, sincere, but professional. Everyone loved them!!  It poured during our ceremony, but Mark whisked me away afterwards and truly made me feel beautiful again. He stayed with me and seriously attended to every need. This included touching up my makeup, and keeping me sweat free in the Florida humidity, but most importantly he would remind me of the day's true importance, and to just enjoy! I love him. Seriously, love him! Mark, Matt and Shear Rituals are absolutely the best in the business. Aside from their talent they are the most incredible people. I see that Mark has a number of good reviews...great, in fact. I will add mine to that list. I booked the day of and they found time for my 8 year old daughter. Mark and the gal who greeted us were both friendly and professional. I told him that my daughter's previous cuts were always just that...cuts. No one has given her a style and the kid has really great hair. I have taken her to a bunch of salons in the SRQ area and in NYC too, where we used to live. Mark exceeded any hope I had for a great style. He gave my daughter a gorgeous haircut, the best ever. He is awesome, his talent is super and we will not go anywhere else from this day on.
