Delicious food and well priced considering it was connected to an inn. Most inn/hotel restaurants are incredibly over priced. Salmon was perfectly cooked and accompanying sides delicious. The French opinion soup was also very good but it was suppose to be braised beef onion soup. There was hardly any braised beef. Felt like just a few strands. Maybe a got a bad ladle but when the selling point is braised beef, there certainly should have been more. Wait staff was nice but didn't seem to know much about the menu, which stopped me from wanting to order more than just an appetizer for myself.

This bar is beautiful! Really loved the decor in here. The service was also excellent! Our calamari was delicious. They have a great selection of local beers and cocktails. We got here for happy hour and they had pretty decent prices at that time. Great place to get the night started!

Omg I can't say enough good things about this restaurant. Honestly I've stayed at this hotel many times but this is the first time I've eaten here, because in the past I've opted to eat in town. And I've been missing out. Every meal I had was fantastic. I ate here twice during my stay. The service was so kind and friendly. Also David at the bar was great to talk to. We had the French Onion Soup, Parker Rolls ( worth it for the butter!), Seabass, Grilled Salmon, and Lobster Ravioli. The standout for me was the Salmon, such a unique mix of flavors.

I loved the warm bread with honey butter--the spread is rich and subtly sweet without being over the top, and it's one of those starters you keep reaching for even when you know you should save room for the rest of the meal. Their fish and chips were another highlight: the fish was light, flaky, and crisp without being greasy, so you actually taste the fish rather than just the fry. Their spin on French onion soup, with a bit of beef in the broth, adds extra depth and makes it especially hearty and satisfying. The surprise favorite for me, though, was the chicken wings with their light blue cheese dip; I usually don't like blue cheese, but this version is herby, mild, and nicely balanced, so it complements the wings instead of overpowering them. Between the honey‑butter bread, the flaky fish and chips, the rich French onion soup, and those wings, Shearwater Tavern delivers a cozy, satisfying meal that I'd happily come back for.

We happened to come here for Thanksgiving's day. We had no idea what was open or not and so we ended up there. To be fair, for the price you pay I would much rather eat right at the coast. We gave it a shot, it is delightful, but it has nothing on places with better views. We had a good waiter and bartender. They fed us when we need it, and that's all we cared about.

We had a mini escapade in Carmel with my mom and 5yr old daughter. The food here were delicious and it was conveniently located in our hotel! The food were a bit pricey but are all tasty so are the cocktails. We ate here 2 nights! Again? Conveniently located where we stayed so that was a plus! Ambiance was great! Both nights our servers were very friendly and welcoming. Our server on the 2nd night even went above and beyond by giving my daughter a whole big pack of crayons and a doll as a present Our food: The rigatoni was good! The buns were warm and soft, the side of salmon is pricey but tastes good as well. I also had the lavender 75 for my cocktail which was refreshing! On the 2nd night we had the grilled chicken (mom's) and for me i got the sea bass with couscous! Very happy with my choice! Got the artichoke dip and the spritz to start with! Our desserts hit the spot! Creme brulee, horchata ice cream and bread pudding! Definitely planning on coming back to this hotel and the restaurant!

We stayed at the hotel and one of the nights we came for some drinks and dinner. The staff here are super friendly and attentive. We ordered some drinks and appetizers and I was not too hungry but wanted to try the hanger steak and shared with my husband and the staff was nice and asked them to divided the dish for us. The steak was very tender and flavorful and mashed potato was so creamy and soft.

We enjoyed the ambience of this restaurant. The server was friendly and very helpful. We have had dinner here twice and enjoyed both meals. The first time I had the French onion soup and a salad. Both were yummy. Finished my meal with the bread pudding. The second time my husband had the burger with fries and I had the salmon. Both meals were excellent. We shared a cheesecake for dessert. Tiffany was our server and she was wonderful!!

The star of the show at Shearwater is their happy hour - what great prices for an elevated happy hour menu! My favorite was definitely the calamari - perfectly breaded and tender (not one rubbery piece in sight!). Their breakfast is also impeccable. Had the shortrib eggs Benny on a croissant (innovative!), and that was just insane. The best non-traditional eggs Benedict I've ever had. A must get. Now let's move on to the dinner offerings. I've nearly tried everything on their dinner menu, so I'm fairly confident to say that most items are a hit, although there were a few disappointments. The good: the poutine fries and crab cake. Oh my god, best crab cake west of the Mississippi! And best poutine you will find in the continental United States! And now for the bad: I will admit I was fairly disappointed by the steak and frites (overcooked, despite emphasizing that I wanted it rare). Was slightly disappointed by the burger as well, as it tasted very pedestrian for being priced at nearly $20. Not bad, not good. The halibut was good quality, fresh, and prepared expertly (not overcooked and still a little flaky) - but initially a little bland, easily dressed up by some salt. Still kind of pricey for a not particularly memorable dish. Very nicely done and elegant inside. Shearwater sits inside the Carmel mission inn, so it overlooks the pool, which adds a nice touch. The fireplace is very cozy and welcoming. Moral of the story: come here for breakfast and happy hour! And the appetizers for dinner trump the entrees.

They have the most delicious food and the service is the best Angel, The waitress is the best waitresses I have ever had. This restaurant cleanest and they give beautiful pottery dishes. It's like a 5 star restaurant! If you don't come here for breakfast, you're missing out on a wonderful dining experience! I've had

I just want to let yall know this restaurant is a gem!! We ate a lot of steaks, fish, creme brulee in the past as foodies but oh my goodness the food is sooo good! It really made my friend's birthday. The staff are warm, thoughtful and friendly. How I wish I recall their names. Its worth a try! 5 stars for the food, service and ambiance! I'll definitely come back and wont stop endorsing this lovely of a local restaurant!

i was staying at the attached inn & i got lazy to drive for dinner so i figured hey let's go here...i love the classy vibe. there was live music playing but my girlfriend & i opted to sit where it was quiet. our server was nice & service was great! the food was amazing. the rigatoni was a lil too soupy (i thought it'd be creamier) but flavorwise still enjoyable. the crispy prosciutto that came with the chicken was yummy. for dessert we had the bread pudding with horchata ice cream, paired with an espresso martini. we got 2 beers, a salad, 2 entrees, a dessert & a cocktail. $150. with today's inflation I don't know what's expensive or fairly priced anymore but we enjoyed it. 9/10

This might be the best kept secret in Carmel. The Shearwater Tavern at the Carmel Mission Inn provides a nice atmosphere of a bar and lounge area with a connector restaurant next to it. I stopped in during Car Week and to avoid sitting in traffic and it was great. I hit the "happy hour" with a local lager and then settled on a Shearwater Taver Burger with a side salad. The staff was great and gave me great recommendations on drink and meal selection. I really like the bar area and the lounge area as it was a cozy/comfy are to relax in. I am really surprised that more people do not know about this spot. I think my next mini-event will be here.

Our waitress Rachel was great and took good care of us. We ordered the French dip (added Swiss, onions, and mushrooms) solid sandwich, though it could've used a touch more salt. The real star though, was the fish and chips. Genuinely some of the best I've ever had. Lightly battered, flaky, perfectly cooked. The vibe lands in that sweet spot of upscale casual without crossing into fine dining, comfortable but elevated. Highly recommend if you're passing through Carmel. We'll definitely be back.

The fish and chips is the ultimate meal. The burger was savory, soft and creamy just he right amount. It perfectly paired with the Talbott pinot noir they recommended. The only comment is make is the amount of French fries that were served with the burger. The plate was a lot larger looking because a sparse amount of fries was served alongside. Maybe add a little more next time just to balance it off. The servers/bartenders knew their stuff. They provided what they could in terms of what was popular and well liked. They said both items we ordered were the most popular. The fish and chips have won best fish and chips 3 years in a row. I would agree with this since I usually am not wowed with this dish. I couldn't resist ordering a dessert. The applied tart with vanilla ice cream was so satisfying. Overall service, food quality and experience was very good. If return over and over again for this same food and experience. If I could give 10 stars I would. Carmel and Brody's is a new destination.

We specifically chose this place because it advertised itself as dog-friendly. When we arrived, the game had already started, and the bar was nearly empty. Since it was open seating, we chose the best available table to watch the match. It was a table for six, and the waitress asked us to move to a smaller table in case a larger group arrived. That seemed reasonable, so we moved without any issue. Another server took our order, and everything was fine throughout the first half of the game. A little later, two other customers came in and sat at the same six-person table we had originally chosen. They were also asked to move for the same reason. Instead of moving, they simply left. At this point, the bar was still almost empty on a Wednesday morning. At halftime, we noticed a completely empty patio with a two-person table that offered an even better view of the game, so we moved there. Unfortunately, our service was then taken over by the original waitress. When she approached our table with the wrong order, she came up abruptly and startled our elderly dog, who barked. Rather than apologizing or correcting the order, she immediately told us that if other guests arrived, we would have to leave. Looking around at the nearly empty restaurant, I replied that it didn't seem like anyone else was coming. Instead of bringing us the correct order, she brought us the bill. The experience left us feeling like hypothetical future customers were valued more than the guests who were actually there enjoying a meal and drinks. It was a disappointing experience, especially at a business that advertises itself as dog-friendly and an official World Cup viewing venue.

I also added a side of bacon and a biscuit with jam. When our food arrived I immediately asked them for butter for my biscuit which then never arrived. At some point my husband got up to ask for butter, while he was gone the server came back and asked how our food was, to which I responded can I please have some butter. She then proceeded to ask me the most ridiculous question of "oh did they not bring you any butter?" To which I responded by presenting her with my butter free table. Oh my husband returned. He told me that apparently they charged $1.50 for butter. When the butter finally arrived more than like 10 or 15 minutes later from the original time that I asked for it, my biscuit was inevitably of course cold. So then when the server did finally come with the butter, I actually told her I was like you know what my biscuit is now cold and I don't have any need for the butter so I just want to send both back. To which she offered to heat up the biscuit... I told her that that wasn't necessary that I just wanted to send it back. When our bill came, they charged us both for the biscuit and for the butter. When my husband let the server know she made a mistake and she forgot to remove the biscuit and butter her she then told him that she had to go talk to her manager. At this point, I already thought it was a little bit weird that she had to have a conversation with her manager about something that she need to remove from the bill, but whatever I didn't really think much of it. A couple minutes later, the manager arrives and asks us if we had any issues with the bill. I let her know that they didn't remove the butter or the biscuit after we sent it back. To which she then now had a new argument for me saying that we had been told on the menu that they charge $1.50 for butter... That wasn't the dispute the dispute was that we sent everything back untouched. So why would we be charged for it? She then proceeded to argue with me telling me that I was very rude. And then she rolled her eyes and only spoke to my husband from that point on. Of course, they ended up removing the butter and the biscuit which by the way came out to a total of $7.50 when she returned, she told me to never come back to the restaurant again. I have never in my life been told any such thing. But, worry not this unnecessarily pretentious group of stationaery employees... I shall never return to this establishment again you couldn't pay me to come back and re-experience this extremely underwhelming throw away of a service ever again.

Founded in Monterey in 2014, Alvarado Street Brewery expanded its production and its restaurants to meet demand. This location in the Carmel Plaza Shopping Center opened in 2018, and they do produce beer here, though their main production and canning happens at their original Monterey and expanded Salinas plants. They also have a new beer garden at the new soccer stadium in Marina. We waited around at the mall until it opened at 11:30. Service was excellent all-around, with us being seated right away, and our server, Ian, providing some top-notch recommendations for both food and beer. I asked him about their flights, which were the standard 5 oz pours, and individually priced. But he mentioned that if I ordered their promotional deal (in this case, their Korean-style loco moco), it would come with a flight of their 4 core beers. He had me sold as soon as he said 'loco moco'. Everything came out on-time, and served at the right temperature as appropriate. 4 beer flight (included with loco moco plate) - flagship Monterey Beer (American Light Lager, brewed at their Salinas plant); Pilsner (German-style Pilsner, also brewed at their Salinas plant); Mai Tai (American IPA, Salinas); Howzit Punch (fruited sour, modeled after Hawaiian POG). All of the beers were really good. with the Howzit being the most liked, not only on principle (we really love Hawaii) but also on taste. Korean-Style Loco Moco ($25) - when told that the white rice on a traditional loco moco was being replaced by kimchi fried rice, my original reaction was 'Dang...why didn't I think of that'. It was a beautiful looking dish, for sure. In terms of taste, just OK. The rice wasn't great, and the hamburger patty was OK (a bit dry). But the over-easy egg added a nice level of richness and the gravy fit the dish. The strips of gim (seaweed sheets) was a great touch and appreciated. Roasted Drunken Half Chicken ($33) - another great looking dish: a cut up half chicken with a ton of crisping done on the skin. It came with two dipping sauces (a bbq and a butter based), along with pickled vegetables on the side, and a jalapeno biscuit. My wife loved the biscuit and didn't need the extra butter. The chicken looked dry though, and she confirmed it. The dark meat was OK, but the white meat was very dry, confirming that one needs to use the bbq sauce and the pickled vegetables to counteract that. Spicy Fried Chicken Sandwich ($20) - my mother-in-law loved this, and she proved it by eating it all (though it could have something to do with all the walking we did in the morning). I enjoyed the fresh cole slaw (tart with a nice mix of vegetables). And all of us really enjoyed the fries...again proving that food service frozen fries can be marvelous if deep fried (and served) properly. My wife and I both agreed that the Mai Tai PA and Howzit Punch were really good and worth bringing back home so got a 4-pack of each ($16 each). Haven't had a chance to try it at home yet, but will do so when wanting to remember our trip.

You might be wondering, "what are you doing here?" I'm wondering the same thing! If you read my…read moreother reviews, you'll see that I reside in the Central Valley, which is pretty far from Monterey, but not too far. I came for a little vacation from the heat, which is definitely necessary because it gets pretty toasty in the Fresno area. I think it's all the roads and stuff. I wouldn't know, I'm not a scientist. To continue what I was saying, I came to Monterey for a little vacation! Usually I'd go eat at a little spot at a mall called Island Burger, but to my surprise, the place was permanently closed! Can you believe it? I couldn't. Because the Island Burger was closed, I decided to go elsewhere for a burger. I checked online to see what folks were saying about this place, and it seemed like everybody had mostly positive things to say. So I went and ate there! When I walked in I noticed it was one of those spots where you just kinda put in your order and sit down and wait. So that's what I did. I got the spicy burger, but I can't remember the name of it. I also got some onion rings and chicken wings. I'd like to mention that I was with my family so we could share those items. I could theoretically eat all of that myself, but that'd be a bit greedy. The burger was great and it had a good amount of spice. The meat was juicy and nicely seasoned, and the fries were perfectly crispy. The onion rings had a delicious batter, and were fried to perfection. The chicken wings really surprised me! I would go as far as to say that they were on par with, and maybe even better than Wingstop. Overall, the service was great and quick, the food was immaculate, and I would absolutely recommend this spot to anybody who is in the area. The bathrooms are nice too. I forgot to mention that. Good bathrooms are very important.

Seriously, this…read moreis probably the best burger I've had in a long time.Three of us ordered the Sur Bacon Burger, which is basically their regular cheeseburger with bacon added. The patty was a solid size, not too thick and not too thin. It was the perfect thickness, giving you a great balance of meat, cheese, and toppings in every bite. Everything is made fresh to order, and you can tell. The lettuce was crisp, the tomatoes were fresh, the grilled onions were perfect, and the whole thing was put together so well. It wasn't messy, just a quality burger from the first bite to the last.My son got The Works, and if you saw his burger, you'd understand why he cleaned his plate. The food came out fresh, hot, and looked amazing. They really take the time to make everything look picture-worthy. They have both indoor and outdoor seating, the wait wasn't long at all, and they have self-serve fountain drinks, which is always a plus. The menu is simple and easy to order from. They have salads, chicken burgers, hamburgers, and you can customize your burger however you like. Their burgers are cooked medium-well by default, but I asked for mine well-done and they got it exactly right. The customer service was cool. They weren't over the top trying to impress you, but they definitely weren't underperforming either. Everyone was chill, friendly, and got the job done. The portions are generous. I only finished half my burger and took the rest home. I reheated it later and it was still just as delicious. Overall Rating: 8.7/ 10. This place has officially earned a spot on my list of go-to burger spots. I'll definitely be back!

The peaches were ripe without being overly sweet, the salty cheese offset the fruit perfectly, and the pine nuts added a great bit of texture. The biggest surprise was the gnocchi. I normally avoid gnocchi because I find it too heavy, but our waitress convinced me to try it and I'm so glad she did. It wasn't made with potatoes, so it was much lighter than expected, and the creamy, cheesy sauce was perfect for dipping the bread into. We also shared a half Margherita and half Salumi pizza. The crust was thin and European-style, with fresh ingredients and plenty of cheese. The Margherita was light and flavorful, while the Salumi had great depth from the salami, red onion, and house-made chili oil. We were told the peppers are roasted in the pizza oven, which gave the oil an amazing smoky flavor. Our waitress was incredible. Even in a full restaurant, she made my family feel special. She seemed genuinely excited about the food, the restaurant, and her job, and that enthusiasm made the experience even better. The atmosphere was also so charming. The room we sat in had little building facades that created an almost optical illusion, making it feel like we were dining on a street in France. It's easy to see why La Bicyclette is included in the Michelin Guide. I'll absolutely be coming back anytime I'm in Carmel.
