Anna said they would bring in exterminator, they never did. The shower is way too low. If you are taller than 5'6 could be an issue. The toilet is really low. People steal each others packages. I never unpacked and didn't even cook there. I left the apartment 100% clean and perfect. They charged me $125 to repaint the apartment. I did a walk thru with Francisco and he said it was perfect. Never said anything about the paint. The guy who runs it was mad when I put my notice in. I think he just charged me to retaliate against me. Renter be aware. The roach issue is the worst part.

It's now been 3 weeks since moving out and they're still holding onto my security deposit. I would avoid using them as your property management team as they never check in on your property and I'd avoid renting from them as operate in shady ways, like keeping a security deposit for no reason other than being an irritation.

After moving out of the unit at 3951-3056 Howard Ave in Los Alamitos, I completed a walkthrough where I was told I would not be charged for cleaning. The apartment was completely emptied out -- it's a very small 2-bedroom, 1-bath unit with no garage after the property removed garages to build ADUs. Despite this, they are now attempting to withhold my security deposit with questionable charges such as "junk removal" and cleaning fees. It is now day 22, and I still have not received my deposit back or adequate communication. Multiple calls and emails have gone unanswered. On top of that, tenants had to deal with ongoing construction, parking issues, maintenance problems, and constant disruptions while living there. At this point, I am preparing to pursue the matter in small claims court due to what I believe is bad-faith withholding of my deposit. I recommend future renters document everything carefully and know their tenant rights before renting here.

Their agent Jackie Deaver, came to our house and promised how she was going to help us as long as we cooperated with the buyer. We were as anxious as they were to complete the deal. Unfortunately the promises Jackie made to us were a hollow gesture. Her words, paraphrasing, "I've worked in Seal Beach for twenty years and anyone will tell you that I'm a straight shooter", was not exactly accurate. What she told us, "you'll just have to trust me", was that the buyer was willing to purchase tile and bathroom supplies, all new, for the remodel that we were never able to complete. Since we were doing a short sale, we were coming out with nothing. The purchase of goods was the only bright spot we looked forward to. When the time came and the deal was about to close, she told us the purchase was no longer being honored by the buyer and she was simply a go between so it wasn't her fault. Imagine our surprise after her sincere proclamation. She is not a "straight shooter" and had no business making the promises that she did. Going through this sale was one of the most difficult periods in my lifetime and Star Realty and Jackie Deaver made it just that much harder.
