I decided to call her, and explain nicely why she should not be sticking her advertising on people's gates, and how she is breaking the law. I also told her that many realtors in the area mail their brochures, and she is showing her lack of professionalism. Instead of thanking me for my input, and apologizing for putting trash on my property, she said in an indignant tone, "DON'T TELL ME WHAT TO DO!!!!" Class is how you act when no one is looking. Realtors are a dime a dozen. Look elsewhere. Update I see a response from this realtor this evening. Ms. Laird Smith is giving false information about our conversation today. She DID NOT ask for my address, she simply got hostile, and stated, "DON'T TELL ME WHAT TO DO." If she had simply apologized, asked for my address, and promised to not stick flyers on our gate in the future, then we would have been satisfied. It is indeed illegal to place flyers on people's private property. We get glossy brochures mailed to us almost every day from other realtors. What do you think about a realtor who sticks a piece of cheap paper on your gate, and then gets nasty when you nicely call them out on it, and then lies on Yelp? It's irrelevant about the family situation of the boy who stuck the paper on our gate. Ms. Laird Smith could have hired him to mow her lawn, or perform other tasks for her.

I've always followed the philosophy of not doing business with family and friends but thought to actually test that out. I was definitely a little nervous about it as I didn't want to ruin a friendship over some disagreement. Plus, if she messed up, I couldn't yell at her and tell her to f*** off. Luckily Naomi has that winning personality that made it work. She was very patience with us and understood our unique needs. We saw a lot of houses and went through 3 escrows. Luckily the 3rd one was a winner. She has been very professional. She even used the latest technology. We didn't have to go to her office once to fill out paper work. Everything was done electronically. Even after escrow closed and she got paid, she was still there to help. We needed referrals for a handyman about a year later. Not only did she respond (and yes the simple act of responding is worth noting as a lot people do not even respond) with 1 handyman, but a whole list including researching on Yelp, asking her colleagues, and calling for quotes. This made a huge difference. 1. She did not act like a car sales person that just did what needed to be done to get paid and dump us off to the services dept for everything else. And 2. she took the extra mile (not just extra step, but a mile) to do the research for a handyman and not just refer us to someone she's "worked with for years". This showed she sincerely cares and not just faking it for a buck. If Yelp has a "recommend" checkbox, I'd check it.
