Highly recommend. With a number of pubs to choose from in the area - this place has been our favorite spot on our visit so far. The Chicken and stuffing sandwich was an innate combination of buttery crunch from the toasted sourdough and creamy umami of the chicken stuffing mix. Only here for 48 hours but looking forward to getting it again tomorrow. Live music was special too, artist was willing to take requests from the crowd. St. Nicholas with the gorgeous blue eyes welcomed our multi-generational family on our first stop in Dublin. Food was great - must have the fish & chips. The Guinness was poured perfectly. Cozy bar and restaurant. Went with some friends, be patient if it's busy because again, it's cozy. Bar staff was really cool, got us drinks right away and seated us as fast as possible. I have the beef and Guinness pie. It was excellent, but piping hot so pro-tip, enjoy your drink and friends for a few more minutes before digging in. Essentially it's sort of a stew topped with mashed potatoes. Just to recap, good food, good staff, great atmosphere and location. I'll definitely return. read more

I came here with a friend and had a wonderful time. The service was wonderful. Being that we were from the states, the staff enjoyed giving use menu and drink ideas; as did our fellow patrons. We tried Guiness Stout. While not our favorite, it was proudly served and clearly a fan favorite and a tremendous source of Dublin pride. The pub clearly well established; has been in existence for 85 years. This pub has been in operation by 3 generations of Sheenans. The walls were filled with interesting bric-à-brac and the patrons (of all ages) clearly enjoyed themselves. It seemed very much like a place where everyone knows your name. read more

This is the first pub we ate at since we got here, so I don't have a lot to compare to. It's near Stephen's Green for an idea where it is. We wanted to try local food, so we got the fish and potatoe pancakes, the lamb shank, and the beef and Guinness pie. I would describe the fish and potatoe pancake more like a like a fish cake/croquette with a delicious sauce. It also came with some greens tossed in lemon juice. If you like fish dip flavor, then I try ink you would like it. The lamb shank came in a red wine based sauce and was also delicious served with mashed potatoes and large cut root vegetables. It was very filling and tasted good. My wife got the beef and Guinness pie. It was almost Shepard pie. The filling was very good and flavorful. I'd recommend this the most out of the three. The service was good and attentive. The ambience depends on where you sit. There is a main bar area but also smaller rooms that are more intimate. The bathrooms were also very clean (although one men's room was out of soap, but I was able to go to the one downstairs to wash my hands.) read more

Long business trip to Dublin allowed me to sample many Dublin pubs. Sheehans was my favorite. Two reasons: Nick, the manager, is the most hospitable man on earth (and one of the most charming). He's like a magician, managing the staff, manning the taps, greeting customers, taking food orders, rearranging guests needing to change tables ("Can we squeeze in five more?"), and dealing with spot issues. The second was the food. The beef and Guinness pie was outstanding! But everything looked delicious. The crowd (and the pub filled up quickly) was jolly, loud, and friendly. Sheehans is this American's "dream" of an Irish pub. If you want to smile ear-to-ear, come here. read more

Went here for lunch one day in July when they had just opened. Had the place pretty much to ourselves and got seated right away. The waitress was nice and the food was delicious. It was my personal favorite meal in our 3 days in Dublin. We ordered the corned beef and cabbage over mashed potatoes, which was scrumptious, I just wish that there was a bit more cabbage. It was sliced cabbage and they didn't serve a lot of it, although presentation was nice. As corned beef can be a little dry, they also served it with a side of gravy, which I didn't need to use, as I just ate it with the mashers. I really enjoyed it. The potato soup with brown bread is what my mum ordered and I thought that was delicious as well. I ordered a half pint of a lager of some sort and it was nice and refreshing on a humid Dublin day. Overall I would definitely go back to Sheehans for the food the next time I'm in Dublin and have recommended it to a few friends as well. read more

The Guinness pours great here, very important. Fish n chips are gas, chowder could be thicker but the flavor is on point and it doesn't matter much once it's soaked in the delicious Irish bread. Definitely stop by for a pint outside at the very least. read more

Two blocks off of Grafton St. is an Irish Pub I'm already having fomo from. One of our standout meals in Dublin was here at Sheehan's. Though we were one of the first customers of the day, the food was nothing short of dynamite. The menu is comprised of traditional Irish staples and pub fare. There was no way I was leaving Ireland without feasting on Corned Beef and Cabbage, and boy does Sheehan's execute the dish phenomenally! Two giant slabs of corned beef met my tongue with ease. Make it a perfect bite by dipping it with tender cabbage and creamy (yet not overly salted) mashed potatoes. The plate alone weighed two pounds, it filled my soul with love and comfort. The rustic bar has been around for a long time, but it's clean, warm and filled with character. I also ordered a Whiskey Sour with local Teeling whiskey and I can honestly say I wouldn't have changed a thing. My only regret was not stealing more bites of my lady's Fish n' Chips, because they were just as lovely as my entree. Sláinte till the end of time! read more
