I love this location. It's ridiculously close to my apartment so I often find myself at this one frequently. The employees are kind and the outdoor seating is really great on a summer or fall afternoon. While there's no seating inside, that just makes it even more perfect for these pandemic days because you won't be worried about standing next to folks sans masks. I just got back from a few days out of town and was so thankful to get my morning coffee at Shelburne Falls Coffee Roasters on King Street, NoHo. No matter where I go, I can't find a hot cup of coffee that compares to SFCR. I've been called a coffee snob, so I guess that makes me an expert! It took me a while to find my perfect blend but since I stop every morning on my way to work, I've had plenty of time to work on my ratios. The amazing selection of coffees they offer can really cater to any taste. I'm a 1/3 French roast, 2/3 Columbian drinker. Helpful tip: bring your own travel mug and get a discount, and get those marks on that coffee card - the 13th is free and a good chance to treat yourself since your free one can be any drink! The only downside here is the uncomfortable dance that happens when more than a half dozen people are waiting for food or drinks and getting coffee, it can be difficult to figure out where to stand and wait or get to the coffee! There are a ton of coffee shops in the area, but Shelburne Falls Coffee Roasters is my favorite "regular" coffee around. They have their specialty through some pumpkin spice or coconut cream which are predictably delicious. There is no seating indoors, but I have attached a picture of what some of the outdoor seating looks like. Many people and grab a coffee and walk up the street and shop. I usually come up here to grab a coffee before going up to this amazing dog park about five minutes from here At the location of an old mental hospital/institution that is now operated as agricultural property of Smith College. Although not advertised, they do offer a vegetarian sausage by MorningStar. The best snacks here are biscotti and assorted coffee cakes and scones. I usually get the freshly made egg and cheese sandwich. Also, if you're looking for stuff to do locally, they have some of the most unique fires up anywhere in this area. I will also attach one of those. At the end of the day, this is really good even coffee. Cancel that, at the beginning or middle of the day is when the shop is open. :) read more

Being a frequent flyer at the Shelburne Coffee in Greenfield, I decided to stop in at this branch this morning before work in Northampton. This location is much smaller than the shop in Greenfield and I have to say that I was fairly dissapointed with my visit. Walking in the place felt a bit cramped since it is small. It doesn't help that they have a ton of random merchandise for sale and that the outdoor chairs were still in the store after being open for an hour. The staff here was OK, but not what I expected for Shelburne. In Greenfield they greet everyone who enters and this shop didn't have the same enthusiasm. The Coconut Iced Coffee I bought was great as always, but the Greenfield breakfast sandwich was sloppy and they didn't even take the time to cut it. The other critique I had was that I felt like an outsider being here and I couldn't have gotten out any faster. I felt like they were staring and waiting for me to quickly leave. In the end, I will continue to stop at the store in Greenfield because of their great service and I will only stop here in the future if it is necessary. read more

Be careful paying with a credit card! After getting a coffee there today the barista decided she would add her own $3 tip (on a $2.94 coffee mind you). She never even turned the square pay tablet screen towards me to add a tip or sign. She just did it on her own without my authorization. I only found out because square pay emailed me the receipt. I go to the shelburne falls in Easthampton all the time and this one unfortunately doesn't come close to as good. I ordered the vietnamese coconut cold brew (their coconut cold brew with condensed milk) and what I got was a coconut cold brew with a bit of regular milk in it. It bothered me especially because they charged me for one of the specialty drinks and they didn't say anything about it not being what I'd ordered. If you order a regular cold brew it comes out without any milk or sweetener so i know they were just trying to cover up for perhaps not having condensed milk. I would've preferred them to be honest and offer a refund on the small difference between the cost for the specialty drink and what i actually got, than just try to pass it off. Even when I ask for stuff to be taken off, which shouldn't be hard to keep track of, it still somehow ends up on my sandwich. The last time I got tomato on my sandwich (and I hate tomato), I called them to ask what I could do to help them remember my order and they virtually brushed me off. As a person that hails from the infamous coffee driven Seattle, I have to say that this is the only real place to get good strong coffee. For years I have ventured to this coffee shop daily coming from Holyoke, often times out of the direction I am heading. The coffee and food are just that good. Another pro to these coffee shops are the eclectic and intelligent individuals whom work there. All friendly and personable and damn good barista's especially for working customer service in the pretentious area of Northampton. What bothers me is the amount of bad reviews written about the people that work there. Could it be possible that the bad reviews are written by people whom were having a bad day which effected there perceptions??! Im thinking thats it cuz not one moment in the thousands of times i have been there have i seen or heard any employee being rude or unprofessional. In fact the ONLY negative interactions that i have had there was due to the OWNER. Whom was so rude to me I stopped going there for over a month because I cannot allow myself to spend my money and have it directly go into someone's pockets who is so openly rude to the customers her business needs to survive. When ordering today, I ordered a simple hot coffee with cream. The cashier was clearly rude and short. My partner got his iced coffee immediately, I then waited ten minutes for a simple order. No one asked if I needed anything and they frankly didn't care to inquire as they scrambled for other orders. While waiting, a customer in front of me also waited in excess of 10 min for a simple bagel. The employees scrambled to make a new one though it was already made to her clear annoyance that she had to ask why others were getting their orders first. All three customers behind me received their orders first which were all the same hot coffee order as mine. No one asked what I was waiting for and when telling them it, I repeated it twice and were slightly perturbed. I would not have received anything for 20 minutes had I not asked. This indicates how poor their customer service has always been-making customers wait 30 minutes outside for a simple iced coffee and always rude employees. If you want to provide good customer service, don't serve others that came in after your first customer and be welcoming! It was a very blatant gesture of bad service along with how poorly they received customers asking for simple things. I would go to Familiars or NoHo coffee for a better experience-online orders are always placed out on the outside table within 2 minutes of ordering on busy days. If you walk into Starbucks, you are immediately greeted and served in a timely fashion. As a customer, take your business elsewhere as there's far better options read more

Idiots. We were all convinced that this location was cursed; leave it to Shelburne to have some staying power! Anyway, enough of my homer rant. The coffee is great, and it's strong. Like jet fuel. Ethiopian is their best in my opinion. Peruvian and toasted coconut are great brews too. And they're always piping hot. I've been going to SFCR down the road from my house in Northampton for a few years now. There are times I am satisfied, and times I wish there were another option equally as close (aside from Dunkin Donuts). I love the location in Greenfield, with *always* friendly and accommodating staff, but recently have begun dreading my trips to the location in Northampton. I strongly dislike being made to feel as though the mostly-college-aged staff are doing me a favor by making my drink, ESPECIALLY if I use a debit card and not cash...if you're going to work in a place that offers so many options, please don't make me feel bad about ordering a complex drink. It may be a mouth full - but it is on the menu. Tell you one thing, no one at The Roost makes me feel bad about making that same order and I have started heading over there more regularly because of that, even though it's further. There is one staff member whom I've heard on 3 separate occasions disparaging other clientele who are no longer present, talking about how she needs to be respected first before respecting a patron and her low-tolerance for anything else. Granted, I don't disagree with her point of view, but I think it's very unprofessional to have those kinds of conversations in front of other customers. After pulling a face the one time I've ever returned to have them correct an incorrectly made drink, this same staff member informed me she was only doing it because I was nice about it. It had taken a lot of courage for me to go back at all - I never return food or drinks, but I was indulging monetarily on this trip and really wanted my drink - and I was mortified at the attention she called to the exchange. I will say this is not ALL of the staff. There is a young man and two young ladies that work here that I'm always relieved to see. My opinion is that most if not all jobs are customer-service based and Northampton SFCR is falling far short of expectations. The coffee and espresso drinks are really wonderful here. My favorite coffee in Northampton! I think the staff is always very nice and I get my drinks very quickly. My only complaint is that they don't have even one vegan snack to eat. There are so many vegan bakeries in the area, they could easily have one vegan option. However, one of the staff members really rubbed me the wrong way! Since I bought 8, 1lb bags of my favorite flavors a joke was made that I better not be selling the coffee. The staff member Sadie then said "you better not or we'll break your kneecaps!" She then grinned and walked away. It was a very dry and uncomfortable joke, with poor delivery. Tiny place convenient for to-go coffee and pastries. I go regularly because they are located along my morning route, but that doesn't mean I love it. As other reviewers have noted, the baristas are pretty rude, especially the men. Without fail, every single time I come here (*at least* once a week), they barely say more than 2 words and look kinda pissed. Again, not enough to stop me from going considering the convenient location, but it'd be a lot more enjoyable if they just acted like normal people. Chai lattes are just okay, and always lukewarm instead of hot, but the flavor shots are a nice extra touch. Coffee is mediocre. Scones are great.
