I showed up at high noon on a Monday. It was just me so I skipped the wait and bellied up to the bar. It was a nice wide bar with a row of TV's lining the wall. The bartender greeted me and asked if I wanted the regular menu or was the lunch menu sufficient. I perused the lunch menu, which had several different options. Surprisingly, everything on that menu was half price! What a deal! I ordered the most expensive item, the catfish sandwich, which was only $10. Even though they were very busy, I got my sandwich within ten minutes. They call it a sandwich but there ain't no way I could eat it like a sandwich, even with my big mouth. The catfish came with onion, lettuce, tomato, and some kind of sauce on a toasted sub roll. It came with a knife. I cut off the first bite. It was .......... GREAT! Wow! I have always gotten BBQ or fish tacos before. Fantastic blending of flavors. It came with a choice of a side and I chose fries. The fries were barely alive. Good flavor but partially limp. Between two people, we ordered drinks and Billy's seafood platter to share, which consisted of shrimp that you can choose the style of, fried cod and catfish, with hush puppies and cole slaw. We got the bang bang shrimp and they were on point. They were definitely our favorite thing on this platter with the size, texture, and flavor all hitting the mark. The two sides hush puppies and cole slaws were also good. The two fried fish was a little underwhelming, with the cod being a little under-seasoned and dry. The catfish was seasoned well and soft but had that sort of slightly fishy flavor to it. I liked having multiple sauces both on the platter and the table (there were a bunch of different bbq sauces, which I'm sure go better with their meat offerings) - the butter and the zing of the North Carolina hot sauce were our top two sauces of the meal. Definitely enough food for two people but I wish there was a bit more on there than just the cole slaw to suppress the greasiness of the fried fish. Service was great and they have a good sized parking lot as well. They have a parking lot and it was pretty full when we got there but were seated quickly at an outdoor type heated area. I had the BBQ lunch platter. I think most of the others did as well. I've been here three times now and I am consistently pleased. The food was tasty, and this time I had the fried pickles and I like that they're crunchy on the outside and some tenderness/juicy ness on the inside. A nice combination and not greasy. The bbq is always on point. They have several types of bbq sauces also. Not to mention they also do dry rub if that is your preference. I like dry rub. I also like having the option of having various types of sauces should I want to add some zip to my bbq! The servers are friendly and attentive. Parking is nice as this is in a plaza that is well-lit. I like the ambiance too, because if you want to see sports, you can easily go to the back of the restaurant where there are several tv screens for sports. They also have Buzztime trivia, which is pretty fun too. I like that you can hang in the front section and be happy and you can also hang in the bar area and be happy there as well. When our server, Teresa, came to check on us, she looked at the tater tots (which looked more like hash browns - all broken up) and decided they were not up to par and put in another order for us. We had a very positive experience at The Fishin' Pig! Our waitress was extremely friendly and attentive. She let my friend sample a beer before ordering it. She took our orders quickly and the food came out fast! I got the Pork BBQ Combo #2, as a sandwich, although I decided midway through the meal to give up on the sandwich and just eat the meat because I wanted to have room for all my delicious sides! The BBQ was good - albeit a bit dry - and the sides were great. The mac n cheese was super creamy and cheesy, and the collards had a great flavor. I will say it was kind of hard to eat the collards since the leaves were so massive. Needed a knife! The jalapeño cornbread had a nice flavor and they provided a cinnamon butter to go with it which made it taste more like cake! My mom said the fish was excellent. Their tartar sauce was unique and had a good flavor. They have a fun vibe with popular music playing and ample seating. It's very family friendly. They have some cool merch as well and a small selection of bakery items like pies for sale. Definitely a fun spot to go for BBQ in the area! From beginning to end, the place was fabulous. There was a long wait but when I asked about the outdoor seating we were able to get seated right away. There was a group of six of us and we all order different things. We got the pork rinds and goodness gracious they were good. 5 Stars is my only option. We had heard a lot about this restaurant from local family members. While visiting recently we went on a Tuesday night. I ordered ribs with collard greens and coleslaw. Outstanding choice and so much food. My husband had a burger and claimed it to be the best burger he's ever had. To go there again the next night was the highlight of his trip to Farmville. I ordered the seafood platter which was enough food to fed a family of four. It was so good I couldn't wait to finish I it the next day. I hope management will keep up the good work. Upon arriving I thought the outside lights were really fun and the inside had the same vibe. There was a 20 minute wait but that's not a big deal. It tasted freezer burnt. Like something I would pull out of my freezer at home. My son didn't love his bowl. My husband's sampler was sub par. The pulled pork was dry. He said two of the smoked wings were good but the rest were not. My younger son enjoyed his ribs but said the jalapeño cornbread was dry.
