This restaurant was recommended to me by a friend. My husband and I Had lunch there today. I had the lamb on flat bread, it was open face with all my selections, lettuce, tomato, onion and cheese. It was a meal by itself. My husband had the mashed burger with red skinned potatoes. It was all fantastic. The decor was lovely with pictures and different overhead lighting. The service was very personal.

Fruit, Pepperoni, Olives, 2 kinds of bread, pickles, and Cheese. A delicious mix.

Dropped in for lunch with a friend and we were so impressed! We had the fruit board and pan pizza. Both were delicious, and we even used a take out box for part of the food because it was so filling. The environment was friendly as several customers even talked to us. We topped it off with brownie and ice cream, which was fabulous. Mipa's is a great stop at the beginning of the High Bridge Trail in Pamplin. And it is just a mile off 460 which makes it a great stop on a trip. The peaceful atmosphere is great too. In a busy stressed out day, smiles from the servers and delish fresh and healthy food is just what we needed (and got)!

But...since…read morebreakfast choices were a bit more than their sandwiches, I went with the pork BBQ sandwich with slaw. It comes with potato chips. I'm sure I could've up charged to fries or something else but wanted to save some pennies. The waitress offered sauce and I should've taken her up on it as the barbecue was a bit dry, but tasty. The service was friendly and quick. Not much to the inside as far as decor but clean. I was a bit disappointed to find out AFTER I had eaten my meal that I was charged more for not paying in cash. I understand that credit card companies may attach a fee to the use of their card. However, this should be included in the price of the CHOICE on the menu, not a surprise ending on a receipt. It could also be mentioned before ordering and/or printed on the menu above or below the raw food warning. Otherwise, if you're looking for a quick bite to eat and have cash, I can recommend the pork barbecue. Get the sauce.

When we contacted the server and brought it to her attention, even showing her the omelette, she replied, "Oh well, it was supposed to be on there." She then went and checked with the cook. She came back and reported, "The cook said he put it on there, so maybe it's on the other half." Upon checking the other half, we found only 3-4 pieces of mushroom and tomato pieces. Who only fills up one half of an omelette with the ingredients requested!?! No adjustment was made on the bill. Service was less than adequate. No lemon was provided with the water and tea, even after requesting it. No ketchup was provided for the potatoes and onion rings, we had to ask. No butter was provided with the toast, again, we had to ask. Needless to say, we won't be returning. This was our first and last visit.

Edith's was the closest food location. -Im glad she had a red sign saying OPEN in the front glass window because it looks vacant. I held my breath and walked into.....a clean seated area with a big TV to watch while you eat. I ordered coffee first of all. Its been 4 days. That coffee was delicious!. No burnt or old taste not a hint of anything except a freshly made pot of coffee. Really, it was perfect. Being the only person in there, I walked around waiting on my food order. I think the pictures were hand painted, and lots of plants inside. My breakfast came. A bacon egg and cheese biscuit with home fries and grits, I'll tell you right now, that was some good eating! Best bacon egg and cheese biscuit. Real bacon! Biscuit was fluffy and moist. I loved it. Fried potatoes were hand cut and fried up in a skillet for sure! Now, to drive back all those miles to my tent. -People, please stop here and grab breakfast!

Lovely decorations and definitely has a 50s feel to it. I got the bacon jalapeno burger omelette, fries and 2 slices of toast are included. The omelette was delicious and chock full of toppings, my only possible complaint would be that the cheese coverage didn't reach the far end. However, that can probably be specified beforehand and its not enough to knock of a star. Regardless of this, I loved it. The bacon and burger were full of flavor and the grilled jalapenos had just the right amount of spice. The grilled onions on top were a great touch. When you're done with your omelette and there's leftover toppings on the plate, you can use fries to sort of scoop them up (awesome). The service was also great. The waitress was talking to regulars, and even asked us what we were up to today. Food came out pretty quick and she asked us if we wanted refills the moment our cups were low. Overall, nice little place. Forgot to get a picture of the food because I was so focused on eating. If I ever come back through the area between the operating hours of 8 and 2 I will certainly be going here. If I happened to pass through after they closed I would probably break in for the pie. This is a must-visit for diner enthusiasts. The building sits on the north-south main thoroughfare…read morethrough historic downtown Farmville, an area once lined with tobacco warehouses. It is very small, with about fifteen stools wrapping around a classic service counter. According to the menu, the diner is a "One-Master Model 15-Stool Valentine steel building," made by Valentine Manufacturing Company of Wichita, Kansas, in 1955. They have a small parking lot in back of the diner. I parked there and then saw a bathroom entrance sign -- after a 2 1/2-hour trip, nature was calling. It is a very clean bathroom located at the rear of the building, with a separate entrance from the parking lot. There is no access to the restroom from inside the diner -- a unique and nostalgic feature you don't see much anymore. I walked around to the front of the building, entered, sat down on a stool, and was greeted with, "Y'all having a good day so far?" I had a half sweet/half unsweet tea and the Cheeseburger Deluxe with no mayonnaise. It came with lettuce, tomato, pickle chips, onions, French fries, and cole slaw. I put ketchup on the fries, but the fresh tomato alone provided plenty of flavor for the juicy, delicious burger. The French fries were crispy and delicious -- exactly what you hope for at a classic diner. The cole slaw was outstanding and clearly tasted homemade. The pies looked incredible, and because the cheeseburger platter was so good, I had a piece of blueberry buttermilk cake topped with whipped cream -- wow! There is also a clearly posted 3% surcharge if paying with a credit card. Prices are reasonable, so it didn't feel like an issue. This was a great overall experience, and I would recommend this classic, nostalgic mid-20th-century diner to anyone traveling through Farmville. It closes at 2 pm, so plan accordingly!

We were tucked in down near Devils Backbone Brewing Company, enjoying the kind of getaway folks put on postcards. My coffee, however, was less postcard and more field exercise--Army strong, boiled on a camp stove, poured out of a percolator that's likely seen more campaigns than I have. My wife took one sip and gave me that look... the one that says, "I love you, but this is unacceptable." So we broke camp early and pointed ourselves back toward civilization. About three miles down the road she spotted Belties. Now I've driven past that place more times than I can count, back when it looked like an old house that had just given up on things. But somebody got hold of it and turned that sow's ear into something you'd be proud to show company. We pulled in, and right off the bat--you could tell--they knew what they were doing. Service was quick, friendly, no fuss. The kind of place where nobody's trying too hard, which is usually when things turn out just right. The food? Lord have mercy. Every bit of it. And the atmosphere--well, it had character without trying to beat you over the head with it. That's a rare combination these days. Most places either feel like a museum or a storage unit. This one felt like the establishment wanted you to relax. And the coffee... now that was coffee. Not punishment in a cup. The kind you sit with for a minute and reconsider your life choices--like why you ever thought campfire tar water was a good idea. We'll be back. For the coffee, sure--but I've got a feeling we won't be leaving empty-handed next time. There'll be a goody bag involved. Maybe two. Some lessons you learn the hard way.
