Tire pressure light came on on my way to drop off my 6 yearold at kindergarten and they would not let me use the air pump for free but could pay $2 I told him it was not legal and he said if I bought gas it would be free. He better hope nothing happens on my way to the next station read more

Shell - Horrible air pump hasn't worked in years - Gas Stations Near Me - Albany, California

The Albany Shell gas station was one of my two favorite gas stations in Albany when I lived there (2016-2019). I lived on Madison Street between Solano Avenue and Buchanan Street, so this gas station was SUPER close to me. It was in a perfect location if I needed to fuel up going to or returning from work/school and chose to take Marin Avenue. It was also a perfect location if I was off for a longer driving adventure and needed to fill my car's tank before heading out. Gas prices were consistently solid and the gas station on the whole cleanly. Pumping stalls were easy to pull in and out of. Yeah... the car wash wasn't very good when I used it. Though I was also trying to get off some sap that dripped on my car when I parked it under a tree near campus while at work one day. This was (and is) no ordinary sap, it is still on my car years later and requires some special (for me) supplies to get it off. So for the time being I have given up the fight and accepted the clear and horrible smelling tree sap as a permanent decoration on the exterior of my car. The car wash here did a decent job of getting grime off my car. Didn't hit every nook and cranny, but a good start leaving those places for me to clean later by hand at home. read more

I had a terrible migraine headache. I was sitting for a few minutes before pumping my gas when the attendant came out to tell me I needed to move along because somebody else wanted to use my pump. There was another pump free. He had a problem with me being there. I told her I was about to Pump my gas and explained I'd gotten sick and she treated me like a criminal. She says I wasn't a customer. I'd gone here several times. I guess that's what they do to black people. I made myself pay and told her my money was green as his. I will never return here. I fully concur with the negative feedback. If you purchase a car wash, you must go inside to retrieve your receipt from the clerk. That would be fine if the clerk didn't act put off when you walk inside. He snarled at me and acted put out by having to retrieve my receipt. Trust me, I would've preferred not crossing paths with you, either. And I won't be coming back. Boycott this place. They don't let paying customers use the bathroom. They lie and say it isn't working. When it is.The gas is almost 7.00 a gallon here! Don't bother unless you really need the gas. I remember a public meeting years ago where the Shell Martinez Refinery Manager was asked why gasoline prices were cheaper in Sacramento than the East Bay. His answer? It's fresher here! That still might be true today as my short drive down San Pablo tonight indicated that this Shell station is about 10 cents a gallon higher than anyone else in Greater Albany. Why? I work for Big Oil and I have no idea. And I don't get a discount either, which is why I price shop like most people. I've bought gasoline at this Shell Station for years and enjoy the convenience as I head towards the freeway. And I have fond memories of my son and I enjoying ourselves together as we glided through this car wash. That's priceless. read more

I had a flat and the attendant was so rude. He wouldn't give me any air for my tire and then he got pissed that I was changing my tire to a spare in his driveway. Well excuse me! If I moved any further the flat would have damaged my wheel. I guess CA law is that you have to buy at least 5 cents of gas to get free air, but still. We even offered to buy something from the way overpriced mini mart but was told that wouldn't work. Won't be going back here again for anything! read more

Paid $11 for a car wash, little to no soap, the machine is pretty old and needs major maintenance: water smells like sewage, the machine kept bumping into my car, and the platform area is not aligned. Having visited the place a few years ago and forgetting how bad the experience was, I dropped in at this place last week. The lady who works here is one rude oppositional piece of work and I imagine her family has a stake in the business or she would not still be employed here. I went in for a car wash which is useless. You can expect to need to wash your car again afterwards. Don't complain to the rude lady inside, she'll only show you a handful of receipts from all the other drivers she's ripped off for the $9.00 faulty carwash facilities that day. Perhaps it's worth it if you get the discount for buying/over-paying for gas here, and you don't care how your car looks afterwards. Imagine that guy you occasionally see that missed a spot shaving, then add a couple more missed spots, and you can imagine what your car looks like after leaving this place. On the bright side it's almost never busy here probably because many in the neighborhood have already had similar bad experiences here. read more

I was filling up my gas really quickly here and needed to feed my one year old daughter something fast and went in to see if they sold any fresh fruit or bananas. I asked the cashier if they did which they did not but when I mentioned it was for my baby she told me to hold on and then she went to her car and gave me two fresh bananas at no charge. I insisted on paying her and she wouldn't let me. Very thoughtful, human approach to customer service there. I would highly recommend supporting such sweet people. Thank you again! read more

Beyond poor customer service, the gal was super rude when I asked her to help me retrieve my car wash code since the receipt did not print at the pump station. She looked at me and basically gave me this "I don't want to help you" look and she printed the receipt for me and circled the code and said here and didn't even bother to make eye contact. Rude. The car wash is a waste of money and time, it takes forever!!!!! It's super slow and did I forget to mention that it smells REALLY BAD? I don't think they change their soap and or water at all. They charge $85 to your credit card (AmEx) no matter what amount of gas you buy. The actual amount appears on your statement within 24 hours. Or at least that is what they said to me. It's the holiday time, and I thought it was fraud. I really don't like to have to check my statement to see if the actual amount is posted. But I guess it is not their fault. however, I'm not aware that this is the practice at any other gas station. read more
