1 scoop = 2 flavors on a GLUTEN FREE cone!
Mercy D.

Nothing much has changed over 5 years! We are still BIG fans here! BIG! Not only is their ice cream Dairy free... not only is it Gluten and Soy free.... they've also got... (wait for it)... Gluten free cones options!! My child and I can now enjoy ice cream on a cone like the "normal" folks! And they still won't force you to choose just one flavor you can split 1 scoop into 2 and they don't skimp!

Finally...finally...FINALLY!!! Finally an ice cream shop with every flavor on the menu curated for those of us who can't handle dairy. The best part? They all taste delicious and can't really tell that the ice cream is made from cashew milk or real milk. We picked Matcha, strawberry, cold brew and banana pudding. If you like matcha drinks with strawberry jam, try this combo, you'll thank me later. The grassy matcha is perfectly complemented by the sweetness of the strawberries. As for the cold brew/banana bread combo, think of it as breakfast in ice cream form. Chucks of banana pudding leveled out with a creamy, strong cold brew kick. One things I noticed was they do melt a bit faster than regular ice cream, perhaps because of the lack of preservatives. Service? Top notch, unparalleled. The employees actually took time to offer samples and gave their recs. Mr.Dewie's recently opened in Walnut Creek as well and so I had to try it out AGAIN at their new location. I can definitely see myself getting Mr.Dewie's every weekend in the summer.

I can't do dairy, but this is 2025 and there are lots of vegan alternatives now. The very best vegan ice cream comes from Mr. Dewie's Cashew Creamery in Albany. Joseph was in charge and he greeted us as we entered the clean and welcoming shop. Customers are generously allowed up to 3 free samples! Forgoing samples, I focused immediately on the vegan Roasted Cashew ice cream with an ample pour over of vegan hot chocolate fudge! This was delicious, not overly sweet and the roasted Cashew goodness raised my spirits on a very cold night. All praises to Mr. Dewie's and Joseph too!

Sunday & scoop

Great ice cream, got a sunday unfortunately the server put the whip under the chocolate & it was completely melted by the time I got it also asked for cone sprinkles, she put cookie sprinkles. It's the small things that would otherwise be a 5 star review.

What a pleasant treat! I love the hella vanilla ice cream flavor. The girl behind the counter so patient with me while I made my choice. It was windy outside so I sat inside and it was nice to hangout and enjoy the vegan ice cream. I like that all of the cups and spoons are compostable and they only have a compost bin. " Wow" is all I can say!

I never knew that the Bay Area had a dairy free ice cream shop until I stumbled upon Mr. Dewie's! Mr. Dewie's Cashew Creamery is (as the name showcases) a non-dairy cashew based ice cream spot that's perfect for people with dairy allergies or sensitivities! Parking is only street parking, but it's located on Solano Avenue, which is a nice area to walk around. The inside is also very spacious with a couple of benches to leisurely enjoy your ice cream. We were helped out by Joe, who was very patient and nice as we sampled out a couple of flavors! I opted for a double scoop of the Caramel Almond Crunch and the Chocolate Cookie Crumble. You would honestly never guess that this ice cream is dairy free because of how creamy the texture is! The cashew base also adds a delicious, nutty taste to both ice creams! I do wish that there were more Mr. Dewie's near me or sold at grocery stores in the north or south bay!

Affagato

Such a cool little spot! I stopped by Mr. Dewie's and treated myself to an affogato--and wow, it was incredible. The cashew-based ice cream paired perfectly with the espresso, super creamy and rich without feeling heavy. I also tried the chocolate orange chip and chocolate cookie crumble flavors, and both were seriously delicious. The chocolate orange chip had just the right hint of citrus, and the cookie crumble was everything you want if you're a chocolate lover. It's amazing that everything here is dairy-free too--you honestly wouldn't even notice. Definitely a new favorite for when I'm craving something sweet!

It was a delicious matcha and banana nut combo, so good, banana match bread. Great customer service and very welcoming atmosphere. This is my second time coming here and i highly recommend.

This is a nice little spot inside of the emeryville market. The lady that took my order was very nice and helpful. I got a scoop of the matcha and a scoop of the caramel almond crunch. The matcha had a strong matcha flavor which I love and the caramel almond crunch had a delicious nutty caramel flavor. It tasted very flavorful and creamy. It is a little bit more of the sweeter side but still delicious just not a treat.

FRIENDLY STAFF! 5 stars for Owen I love everything I've ordered so far. It's creamy like a standard ice cream AND it's not diabetes inducing sweet - just enough to feed that craving. They have outdoor seating to enjoy the sunshine whilst people watching if that your thing. Since this is Berkeley area, they have a bowl of water for your furbaby. (Make sure they are vaccinated before you let them drink out of a community bowl) I'd come back again and again since it's an ice cream I can have that won't give me problems and tastes like a real ice cream.

Single Scoop of Banana Nut

I found my dairy-free ice cream haven! As someone who doesn't consume dairy, finding a spot that serves my favorite dessert is always an issue. Mr. Dewie's is a shop you can go to for a sweet treat that won't break the bank or hurt your body. After my Mom's birthday dinner, she wanted to grab ice cream for dessert. Knowing I don't consume dairy and had never been (even though we live close by) she wanted to come here. The shop is on the corner and is small, bright, and clean. The two girls working the counter were swift at scooping and helpful. I appreciated they gave out free samples! The menu is posted above and you're able to get your ice cream in single, double, or triple scoops. You can also choose if you want a cup or cone. Being my first time, I was overwhelmed by the awesome flavors. I got a Single Scoop of Banana Nut in a Cup and my taste buds were blown away. There was a strong banana flavor, it was loaded with lots of crunchy chopped nuts, and creamy considering it was made of cashew milk. It was my first time trying cashew-based ice cream and I found it to be tasty. My parents got Chocolate Orange Chip, Caramel Almond, and Lemon Creme as their flavors. I tried it and enjoyed all of them. Craving ice cream and want a dairy alternative? Then try Mr. Dewie's on the corner of Solano and Kains. They specialize in dairy, soy, and gluten-free organic vegan ice cream. You can also buy items and ice cream to take home. Parking is street or in the neighborhood. This creative place has cashew-nut-based ice cream in plenty of flavors, the service is good, and there's seating inside and outside. I'm glad we got to celebrate and enjoy our sweet treat at a place so close to home! Be sure to check in for 10% off a cone!

Hubby and I shared the flight and got black sesame cookies 'n cream, ube malted crunch, hojicha biscoff, mango sticky rice. It was all so yummy. I also sampled yakult grape gummy sorbet, kaya pandan & butter crumble, blue jasmine & passion fruit swirl, Thai tea & brown sugar mochi, and miso peanut butter brownies. All the flavors are excellent and would definitely go back because they do a series of flavors for the month. The only slight drawback I'd give is I wish the flavors were slightly punchier. In other words, I want the flavors to hit me as soon as I take a bite... but that's just me. My favorite of the bunch is the mango sticky rice. They have plenty of seating, and one of the biggest advantages is their excellent Wi-Fi speed, which makes it a reliable spot for remote work or studying. The atmosphere is enjoyable as well. There's usually music playing or a sports game on the TV, creating a comfortable, laid-back environment without being distracting. Their food selection is also better than you'd expect from a coffee shop. In addition to coffee and pastries, they offer cakes, breakfast items, and a variety of other snacks and treats, so there's always something to pair with your drink. Their hours are convenient, making it easy to stop by throughout the day. The only area where I think there's room for improvement is cleanliness. I've noticed on several occasions that when I arrive shortly after opening--sometimes within 30 minutes to an hour--there are still crumbs on the chairs, tables, and floor, even when there haven't been many customers yet. First impressions matter, and the café should be fully cleaned and ready for guests before the doors open. Customers shouldn't have to wipe down their own tables before sitting. Overall, I really enjoy coming here and would absolutely recommend it for the atmosphere, Wi-Fi, seating, and food options. With a little more attention to cleanliness before opening each day, it would be an even better experience.

When you first enter, you're guided by arrows that lead you to the ordering tablet, or you can order at the main counter. The shop is small, but has plenty of counter seating and some small tables available as well! In between the front door and ordering, there's a selection of chips and snacks for you to browse as well. I was initially looking to order Banh Mi but was a bit intimidated by the $17/banh mi price tag. I opted in for an open face Asiago Bagel with Lox for $13 and placed my order. Breakfast orders that are $10+ get a free house coffee as well, so of course I opted in for it! There's a bathroom just around the corner from the ordering kiosk, but while I was making my way over there, the kind staff let me know that they are actually sold out of lox. They offered me a refund or to change what I ordered. I decided to switch to the Asiago Bagel with Ham, Bacon, Egg, and Cheese since it was the same price as the Lox! My coffee came out first, and the person who gave me my coffee also filled up my cup with ice when I asked! The coffee itself had a nice deep & bitter flavor which I look for in a house coffee. The sandwich was STUFFED full. I've never had a bagel breakfast sandwhich where I've quite had to unhinge my jaw like this. My photos did not do the sandwich justice, but I promise it's so much bigger than you'd expect! The eggs were perfectly fluffy and smothered in cheese. The ham and bacon were cooked to my personal liking. If you like crispy bacon, maybe mention that to them, because it was perfectly chewy for me. The bagel, was soft, fluffy, yet so bouncy, and I LOVE that there are poppy seeds mixed into their Asiago bagel. The cost to quantity ratio for the breakfast sandwich was 100% worth it. I'll definitely be back when I need a hearty sandwich.
