I ordered a 2-scoop ice cream on Sunday evening, May 31, 2026 and was disappointed by the portion size. I was clearly given about 1 scoop but was charged for the double. The employee may have been new or not uniformly trained, but the scoops were noticeably smaller than what is typically served. Unfortunately, this has happened before. Sometimes I receive full scoops, while other times the portions are much smaller depending on who is serving. Consistency is important, and customers should receive the same product regardless of which employee is working. Please provide better training to ensure portion sizes are consistent. Based on this experience, I won't be returning when this employee is working and will likely stay away for a while. read more

A cute ice cream shop in Solano Ave. They offer dairy free cashew ice cream. Good alternative if you can't have dairy. The staff were very friendly and let us try some flavors although we didn't purchase an ice cream. They also have chocolate cashew milk we were going to purchase until we found out they actually don't make the milk there it is pre-packaged/purchased. Finally...finally...FINALLY!!! Finally an ice cream shop with every flavor on the menu curated for those of us who can't handle dairy. The best part? They all taste delicious and can't really tell that the ice cream is made from cashew milk or real milk. We picked Matcha, strawberry, cold brew and banana pudding. If you like matcha drinks with strawberry jam, try this combo, you'll thank me later. The grassy matcha is perfectly complemented by the sweetness of the strawberries. As for the cold brew/banana bread combo, think of it as breakfast in ice cream form. Chucks of banana pudding leveled out with a creamy, strong cold brew kick. One things I noticed was they do melt a bit faster than regular ice cream, perhaps because of the lack of preservatives. Service? Top notch, unparalleled. The employees actually took time to offer samples and gave their recs. Mr.Dewie's recently opened in Walnut Creek as well and so I had to try it out AGAIN at their new location. Mr. Dewie's Cashew Creamery is (as the name showcases) a non-dairy cashew based ice cream spot that's perfect for people with dairy allergies or sensitivities! Parking is only street parking, but it's located on Solano Avenue, which is a nice area to walk around. The inside is also very spacious with a couple of benches to leisurely enjoy your ice cream. This wasn't my first time at the rodeo. I've recently tried this dairy-free, gluten-free, and soy-free ice cream that isn't technically ice cream. I had stopped by the tiny Piedmont Avenue location on a whim and frankly admired what owners Ari and Andrew Cohen were attempting to create to avoid potential allergens. I'm not lactose-intolerant, but I could see this as balm for the soul. I think they got the flavors right, but my sensitive tongue couldn't get used to the grainy aftertaste. Today is the day i say goodbye to dewies. Why? Because they have the audacity to sell a scoop of ice cream for $6. The greed is off the charts! Taking advantage of the high inflationary environment as an excuse to push the value higher when we all know its not worth $6. $3.5 tops! Creamy cashew ice cream, absolutely does not compare to full fat dairy ice cream! The flavors are unique and refreshing, with my favorite being the roasted cashew. It's rich, smooth, and has just the right amount of sweetness. The fact that it's dairy-free, gluten-free, soy-free, and vegan makes it a perfect treat for anyone with dietary restrictions. The staff was friendly and the shop is clean and bright, making for a pleasant overall experience. This is the only cashew creamery I know of so I had to try it again. Such a cute little shop!!!! I typically wouldn't prefer cashew-based ice cream over dairy ice cream but you'd be amazed at how creamy and rich it is! It is also healthier b/c the fat is unsaturated :) You're able to get as many samples as you want so I tried the golden spice (previously called turmeric spice I think?), chocolate, roasted cashew, lemon crème, and caramel almond. The lemon crème tastes exactly like the Girl Scouts lemonade cookie, which I love! I ended up getting banana nut -- the banana flavor was not overpowering and the amount of nuts balanced it out well. Mr. Dewie's has such a homey atmosphere and I felt like I was a little kid in a parlor again. Lots of little kids were lined up, patiently waiting for their scoops of ice cream and squealing when they took their first bite. Food: I don't have any dietary restrictions and was intrigued by cashew ice cream when walking by. Me and my partner have tried almost every flavor now and they're all surprisingly very good! Of course some aren't my favorite but it doesn't mean they're bad, just personal preference. Went to the Berkeley area this long weekend and finally got to try this place out which had been on the bucket list for a while! If you are vegan this is a cute ice cream shop for you. The ice cream here is made of cashews over dairy and honestly my boyfriend said if he didn't know any better he wouldn't have known it was vegan - that's how creamy it was! The shop was cute and casual inside with some benches and tables outside which was great. The service was really sweet and they let us try different flavors to sample which was nice. I'm pretty sure I haven't had cashew based ice cream before, and was really excited to give it a try. This location of Mr. Dewie's had 15 flavors of ice cream available, and you can order ice cream, bon bons, or a chocolate chip cookie sandwich. They also have vegan cones and vegan toppings available. You're allowed to sample if there isn't a line, and I tried: -Chocolate Cookie Crumble: Very chocolately, with some crunch from the cookie crumbles. -Just Peachy: You could taste the peach flavor, but the peach/cashew combination was a bit strange for me. There was no indoor seating, but there were a few tables set up for outdoor seating.
